I must say about a year ago I looked at adobe ideas and said that it was a wast of resources and that it had no good use case. about 3 months ago I looked at it on a weekend away from my main computer. I had a need for drawing. I love this app. Please continue to develop it. It is amazing. I was worried because the iPad has no pressure sensitivity, but muse works around this and it is excellent. Can it be better? Absolutely, but it is great for such a young program. Please Keep developing it and promote it more. I love this app. Did I mention that I love this app. Eventually I will have samples at www.billmurphy.ca

are you ever going to stop trying to sell CC and get back to servicing the products that you sold to your customers?  Otherwise shut down and start over selling only CC because that is all you talk about or service and its really the most obnoxious marketing I have ever encountered.. "you want to know about anything about anything? become a creative cloud member or become a CC member, if that doesnt help.. become a CC member" just drop everything else and start over.. in fact adobe should be changed to creative cloud adobe

It says it's a myth that you do not need the internet to use these programs, but I think you do. I regularly get asked to confirm by account online. Sometimes I travel in areas where there is no internet access, but find myself stuck and unable to use the programs because I cannot confirm my account online.

  • Kelby shows CS 6 converting to smart object before using Liquify

In Kelby's "Hidden Gems" of CS6, he converts the image to a smart object using the filter menu "convert for smart objects" before he uses the Liquify filter, thus adding a Liquify mask and the ability to go back and edit Liqify. When I open a Raw file and convert to smart object, it greys out the Liquify filter. Liquify is only available before adding the smart filter. What's wrong with this? I'm on a Mac 10.8.2

Only the Creative Cloud Photoshop CS6 v13.1 has Smart Filter enabled Liquify and Blur Gallery. (However, apparently, 13.1 has an additional payload of bugs and broken functionality.)

  • Problem with a Scott Kelby action.  Help!

In Scott Kelby's "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Book for Digital Photographers" he describes a process to automate sharpening in Photoshop, (chapter 5, page 218).  It involves creating an "Action" in Photoshop that can automatically sharpen a folder of photos without any intervention on the user's part that can be automatically run from Lightroom.  I'm running on a MacBook Pro, OS 10.4.11, Lightroom 2.3, Photoshop CS2.
The problem is that the action hangs when saving a photo.  When the action reaches the step to save a photo, a "JPEG Options" box opens up and waits for you to click on the "OK" button.  This hardly makes the action automatic.  I notice that this only happens to photos that have not been opened in Photoshop previously, (which is always in my case).
Here are the Photoshop steps described by Scott (minus any superfluous stuff):
    Step 1: Open a photo.
Step 2: Go to the Window menu and choose Actions.  Click on the Create New Action icon at the bottom of the palette.  In the New Action dialog box name your action and click on the Record button.
Step 3: Go under the Filter menu, under Sharpen, and choose Unsharp Mask.  When the Unsharp Mask dialog appears enter 120% for Amount, 1.0 for Radius, and 3 for Threshold, then click on OK.
Step 4: Now go under the Edit menu and choose Fade Unsharp Mask.  This brings up the Fade dialog box.  From the Mode pop-up menu choose Luminosity.
Step 5: Now you can press Command-S (PC:Ctrl-S) to save your photo, then Command-W (PC: Ctrl-W) to close your photo.  Since it's been saved and closed, go back to the Actions palette and click on the square Stop Recording button at the bottom left of the palette.
The rest of the steps involve creating a Droplet to put into Lightroom but is irrelevant to my problem.
Like I said, when I run this action it hangs when saving a photo.  A  "JPEG Options" dialog box opens and waits for you to click on "OK"  Again this only happens on photos that have not been previously opened in Photoshop.
Any hints as to what is happening and how I can fix it?

You already have a rendered file at this point, so this metadata is completely useless. Lightroom for some reason includes all develop settings in every exported file.

The last one has the metadata-wrangler plugin do basically what I told you to do by hand inside Photoshop.

  • Crop Ratio Camera Raw / Scott Kelby Book for Digital Photographers

From the Book of Scot Kelby regarding the Camera Raw usage.
    - The Adobe® Photoshop® CS5 Book for Digital Photographers
Chapter 2. WWF Raw: The Essentials of Camera Raw > Cropping and Straightening
If you reopen your cropped photo again in Camera Raw, you’ll see the cropped version. To bring back the cropping border, just click on the Crop tool. To remove the cropping altogether, press the Esc or Delete (PC: Backspace) key on your keyboard (or choose Clear Crop from the Crop tool’s pop-up menu). If you want your photo cropped to an exact size (like 8×10″, 13×19″, etc.), choose Custom from the Crop tool’s pop-up menu to bring up the dialog you see here. You can choose to crop by inches, pixels, or centimeters.
In this topic Scott Kelby is explaining Crop Ratio for ACR 7.x
In this version there is the possibility for Crop Ratio to Inches, CM and Pixels. However with the Newer version this option is no longer available.
Hopefully this will safe some of you the time looking for this.

Precisely what Conrad Chavez says: a very good change.

  • Catalog Tree doesn't show hidden folders

    Hi,
I have set some folders in the presentation catalog to 'hidden' to hide from all users but for some roles Administrators & Authors I have permissioned the 'Show hidden items' privilege so they can see the folders. Both the Administrators & Authors can create new Analysis & dashboard prompts and see the hidden folders. However when i create a new dashboard and attempt to add content the hidden folders are not shown in the Catalog tree on the left hand side when in edit dashboard mode.
    Is this an known issue?
    Any help would be great
    Regards
    Adrian

    Hi Veeravalli
I have tested it for an Administrator user and an Author user and the same issue applies (i.e. can't see the hidden folders in the catalog tree in dashboard edit mode)
    I'm running 11.1.1.6.1 on Linux 64
    Thanks
    Regards

  • Photo Sharpening - Scott Kelby's Tip in His Book - OK for RAW and JPEG?

Hello. Newbie here. In fact, I haven't even bought PSE yet but am thinking seriously about it. I'd like a quick tool for sharpening my Nikon D80 photos on my Mac. In his book "The Digital Photography Book" (volume one), on page 18, Scott Kelby gives a very concrete set of parameters for sharpening images in both Photoshop and PSE. My question is, can these parameters be used effectively on photos shot in JPEG as well as RAW images? My guess is "yes" since he doesn't say otherwise but I thought I'd try to check it out.

Precisely what Conrad Chavez says: a very good change.

You installed the "DownLite" trojan, perhaps under a different name. Remove it as follows.
Malware is constantly changing to get around the defenses against it. The instructions in this comment are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
    Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/LaunchAgents/com.vsearch.agent.plist
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "VSearch" selected. Drag the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password.
Repeat with each of these lines:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.daemon.plist
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.helper.plist
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/Jack.plist
Restart the computer and empty the Trash. Then delete the following items in the same way:
    /Library/Application Support/VSearch
    /Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/Jack
    /System/Library/Frameworks/VSearch.framework
Some of these items may be absent, in which case you'll get a message that the file can't be found. Skip that item and go on to the next one.
From the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extensions you don't know you need, including any that have the word "Spigot" in the description. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
This trojan is distributed on illegal websites that traffic in pirated movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect much worse to happen in the future.
You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that the DownLite developer has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing, has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. This failure of oversight is inexcusable and has compromised the value of Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • How can I disable "Show hidden objects" by default?

I've started linking to files on my computer like this, 'Index of file:///Users/michaelo/Dropbox/KN' which works fine apart from the fact that this calls up all the hidden files, which do not want to see by default.
There's a checkbox "Show hidden objects" which will hide these when unchecked. But settings are per folder and of course aren't remembered between sessions.
Is there a way via about:config to hide hidden objects by default?
    TIA

  • How do I get Firefox to show hidden files and folders. It should be available under help but help only gets as far as Open Containing folder and doesn't go on to show hidden files and folders

I am trying to find the status of Adobe Flash Player on my computer. I am advised that it exists in Firefox's hidden files and folders but I cannot find such a folder

You have an older version of Flash installed - Shockwave Flash 10.0 r45
You can see that for yourself in Tools > Addons > Plugins
"Show hidden files and folders" is a function of the Operating System, not an application such as Firefox. Windows Control Panel > Folder Options > View - Advanced Settings

Good Morning.  I'm having a problem using both my Photoshop elements and premiere programs.  I've installed the programs, redeemed my code and entered the serial numbers, and created the adobe log-in.  I am able to open up the organizer without problems, but when I try to open up the photo editor (either by trying to open up the program from the main menu, or right-clicking on a photo in the organizer to edit in elements), the program asks me to sign in to adobe (which I can do and it doesn't give an an "incorrect password" or log-in ID error) then accept the terms and conditions.  When I click to accept the terms and conditions, nothing happens and the editor fails to open.  Everytime I click on the program, I get this same "loop" of signing in and accepting T&C's, but the program fails to open.  Any advice?

Premiere Elements 10 is now 64 bit, but not PSE10.
Take a look at your scratch disk set-up and if you have a spare volume, allocate that first before the C drive. Elements use scratch disks when it gets low on RAM.
Turn off face recognition and the auto-analyzer to improve performance.
When editing photos or videos check the task manager to see what background processes may be running and end them temporarily if not needed.

I am unable to update any add-ons at all. Every time I try and install an add-on or even the new "show hidden add-ons" add-on, I get a server error. How do I fix this?

You may have triggered some intermittent database issues but it should be running smooth by now. Let us know if you still see server errors.
Also, if your addons appear to go missing after updating there is a workaround http://blog.mozilla.com/addons/2011/09/28/issue-discovered-with-firefox-add-on-upgrades/ And there is a 7.0.1 fix on its way.
