Scrambled/corrupt graphics in Aperture 2.1.

Has anyone else had this problem? Scrambled/corrupt graphics in Aperture 2.1.
I'm posted an image here:
http://lemon.soju.co.uk/2008/06/05/would-you-trust-your-photos-to-an-application -that-does-this/
This is a brand new Aperture 2.1 install on a new (received Sunday 1st June 2008) iMac 3.06GHz Dual Core, 4GB Memory, NVidia 512MB (MacOS X 10.5.3). I imported 40GB of photos - my first import session, left to run overnight.
When trying to use this morning, Aperture screens were corrupt and it refused to shut down. I had to power off then boot back into Mac OS X. When I restarted Aperture it worked, but it still seemed to have problems taking over the machine - eg, I wasn't able to send mail from Gmail within VMWare Fusion until I closed down Aperture. I never have problems with VMWare Fusion.
I've seen a post elsewhere on the forums suggesting this may be related to 10.5.3. Has anyone seen this in Aperture on 10.5.3 or other versions of MacOS?

Calm down, reinstall, try again

  • Safari 8 corrupted graphics display

    Hi -
I have a late 2011 Macbook Pro running Yosemite.
To date it has been very reliable but since I have upgraded to Yosemite I am getting blocks of corrupted graphics in safari when browsing the web. I can temprarily cure this by exiting from Safari and or clearing the history.
I have reset the pram and via Apple online help re set Safari back to factory defaults. I have also performed a clean install twice.
I only seem to get the problem in Safari, not for example in Aperture or Photoshop which I presume uses more graphic power. I have also run a couple of online graphics benchmark tests succesfully. I can also use Chrome to browse websites without a problem.
There are other posts on here with users experiencing a similar problem but no resolutions.
Is this a glitch in Safari /  Yosemite or a possible sign of the on board graphics failure in the the late 2011 MBP ?

  • Corrupt files in Aperture and RAM upgrade

I have been having trouble with some corrupted Files in Aperture and after reading some discussion groups I was led to beIieve it might be a hardware problem and not just a software bug-some people experiencing similar problems traced it back to bad RAM. I performed a Hardware test w/ the Mac OS start-up disc. The results indicated this error code:
    **Error*code***Error*code**2MEM/104/4:DIMM2/J13
Can anyone help me here? Does this indicate there's a problem w/ the RAM in my DIMM2?
I'm running a Dual 2 GHz PowerPC G5, OS 10.4.9. Quite a while ago I added 2 1GB RAM modules tro complement the original 512.
    Thanks-
    Bob
    G5   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Yeah, sounds like it's a bad chip. Remove the chip from the DIMM2/J13 slot (you'll have to remove it's pair too) and run the test again to make sure the others work. Too bad with the original 512 it probably won't let you open aperture (though you can hack it to work.)
Depending on the ram it could be under warrenty. I had a crucial chip that tested bad and the replaced it no questions asked.

  • Mac Pro (early 2008) 8 core wakes with corrupt graphics or reboots

I have a new Mac Pro with the NVidia GeForce 8800GT card. When it wakes up, sometimes it wakes normally. Sometimes I get corrupted graphics (see log below), and sometimes the fans spin up for about 10 seconds and then the machine reboots itself. The graphics crashes give me a graphics channel error:

My crashes with reboot on wake from sleep do not leave any information in the system log about why the crash occured, only that one did so.
Anyone know what the cause is? Apple has said that the machine will need to be repaired or replaced (not sure which yet.)

I have the same problem. Graphics are mad corrupted and glitch is impossible to isolate/recreate.
Machine will panic and sieze randomly. Must wait a few seconds before restart or system will not boot.
Anyone know if it's hardware or software? Is there an update that is causing this?

  • Need Help with Corrupted Graphics

I need help real bad. I have spent the last 2 weeks trying to find the reason for crashing in game (not blue screening but corrupted graphics) where the whole screen goes like a television that isn't tuned in, and then after anywhere between 2 to 5 mins my computer will reboot. I'm wondering if anyone has a similar issue, and if there is a fix. I'll list my system specs and a couple of things I have done that hasn't fixed it.
    AMD64 3200+ 939 90mn
    MSI K8N Neo2 - 1.4 bios
    2 x 512mb Geil UltraX
    Leadtek 6800u
    Audigy
    SuperFlower 14cm 500watt
I haven't started to overclock my machine yet as I have yet to fix this problem. Everything is running stock. I'm finding that its random. I can play Prince of Persia Warrior Within for hours on end without a problem. Then play Counterstrike Source and it will go to  after about 5 mins. I decided to try benchmarks and 3dmark01 will do the same thing randomly. Even Battle Field will play for about 10 mins and it will just go to the fuzzy screen. I even heard that some Soundblaster Cards cause problems and have tried using the onboard sound, with no effect. I have also disabled AGP SideBand and AGP Fastwrite in the bios, as also this can cause some issues, to no effect. I thought maybe the video card maybe the problem, and threw a crappy 5700 LE in my machine, still with no effect. CPU temp is around 36c (water cooled) and GPU is around 48c. Does anyone have any idea as to why the screen craps out in just about every game I play. I'm running Winxp Pro SP2 with DX9.0c, with the latest Drivers for everything I'm running (mainboard, vga, sound, etc). If you can suggest something, please let me know.

X-((Well, This sorta sounds like what just happened to me.
My graphics card decided to take a dump on me. When I was playing a game the graphics went all garbled and everything froze. System rebooted a couple times, and yes it seems the cards fan stoped rotating and it fried.
So to me, it sounds like your video. But you say you tried changing video cards with no effect.
Dang.  Sorry I cant think of anything. But on the bright side, your post was bumped.

  • Help needed, corrupted graphics all system

    Hello
I need help, I have a mac pro 2008, and since some time I am experiencing corrupted graphics all over the system. The computer starts operating properly, suddenly, and looks like when I start using graphics intensice application, such as after effects, I get graphics corrupted on finder, pictures, the programs etc to a point where not even thumbnails show up properly. Restarting solves the problem however not for long.
Now I now this theoretically and the most obvious answer "is the graphic card" however I have changed the whole computer, different mac, different and new graphics card and I get the same problem. Even the RAM is different however the problem persist. The only thing that was carried from the older mac was the hard drives. The OS is the latest version of 10.10 and this problem was also with the earlier 2 versions, mountain lion and Mavericks.
Please look at the screenshots I am providing, evidently this is a software issue otherwise it would have been fixed after I changed mac.
Anybody has any idea what the problem could be?
    Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, but the thing is that those corrupter graphics also make it onto a video that I do, for example. so its not a screen issue, you see what I mean? like 2 days ago I was making a video in after effects and premiere and those corrupted issues made it onto the rendered video, the pixelated things.

  • Please Help - Screen corruption while in Aperture - graphics card problem?

Over the past few weeks, I have noticed frequent screen corruption within the confines of the image that I am currently editing. The corruption only occurs when in Aperture. The corruption occurs as multiple thin (one pixel?) horizontal lines of random color and random length that occur in random locations within the image. If I force a re-calculation of the image (such as change white balance) the random lines will disappear, only to reappear somewhere else. The actual image (after export) is never corrupted, only the display. Recently Aperture has started to "hang" in random ways, sometimes freezing the whole machine, sometimes crashing, sometimes beach-balling.
This sounds like a hardware problem to me, but the standard Apple hardware test runs without errors, as does an extended memtest. Setup: Mac Pro, 5GB, SW fully updated to 10.4.11 and Aperture 1.5.6. I tried re-seating the graphics board to no avail.
Are there any programs that I can use to test the Radeon X1900 card?
    Any other suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks David,
I did some more research and it appears that quite a few of us (unlucky) users with an early version of the Radeon X1900 graphics card are now seeing failures that appear to be due to poor heat dissipation by the graphics card. There's a huge thread on the subject here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1195969
The problem with random display glitches doesn't show up for most people until they upgrade to Leopard, which puts a larger strain on the graphics card than Tiger. I am still running Tiger, but the glitches show up for me when using Aperture, which of course uses the graphics card more aggressively than most other programs. I assume that Aperture increases the heat which causes the glitches.
I tried cleaning the dust out of the Radeon's heat sink, and I added a tool (smcFanControl) that lets me manually override the default fan speed. By keeping the card's temperature lower, the glitches have gone away. If I let the temperature rise, they come back. Looks like I'll be needed a new graphics card.

  • Reduce File Size in Acrobat Pro (9.5.5) Corrupts Graphics in PDF Documents - shows up as black image

Whenever I use Reduce File Size in Acrobat Pro (9.5.5), sometimes some of the images (not all) get corrupted and show up as a black image in the new document.
Actually, the new reduced document looks okay when viewed in Acrobat, but the problem shows up when viewed in the Preview application on the Mac.
I'm using Acrobat 9.5.5 with Mac OS 10.8.6
I've tried re-importing the graphic into a new graphic box, which didn't work.  Thinking there may be some type of corruption with the actual graphic file, I then tried viewing the graphic, then taking a screenshot of it to create a completely new file, and then re-importing the new graphic file into the original document (created in Adobe In Design 5.0.4).  I then export the new document as a pdf, and brought it into Acrobat Pro to do the Reduce File Size.  Same thing happens - black box appears where the graphic was.
I then tried using the Reduce File Size within the Save As function of the Preview application on the Mac - while the graphic remains intact, many of the other graphics in the document are "reduced" too much, to the point where the image quality is seriously degraded, and therefore not usable.
    Any other ideas?

    Hi Anoop,
I can share the graphic file, but not the pdf which contains it (as it contains confidential information) - thanks!

  • Raw Files Appear Deleted or Corrupted Suddenly in Aperture with Unsupported Image Format Error

I have been using Aperture 3, latest update, for the past year. Today, I tried to import new raw files from my new Sony RX1r and, as far as I can see, all raw files in Aperture give the "Unsupported Image Format" and alert symbol in the library where not only new files should be, but also ALL PREVIOUS RAW FILES. These files do no even show up as existing in the iPhoto Library.
This is, needless to say, distressing, as hundreds and hundreds of photos seem lost. Also, the files show a reduced pixel size and file sizes all go to .5 Mb. Some of the photos seemed to show up initially and look fine until I tried to open them, then they all either disappear or show the Unsupported Image Format instead of the opened file. I have tried rebuilding the iPhoto library, but no help.
I have looked in these discussions and see similar problems with Aperture. Perhaps, Apple has not made an update for the RX1r from the RX1 for raw files, but why should all older raw files now be corrupted, especially those recently made with my Olympus OM-D? Had no problem with Aperture until this disaster.
    Please help.
    William

Just an update. Restarted computer and attempted rebuilds of iPhoto library a couple more times and finally files and photos mostly recovered, except for those I had tried to open. Aperture seems to have a problem, or a host of them, dealing with RAW files, and there is no update yet for the Sony RX1R for Aperture or iPhoto. Lightroom 5, on the other hand, seems to work great with these files directly, so that will be where all photos go for now. Will iPhoto and Aperture just become old archives? It is so infuriating that Apple does not allow for simple importing and exporting compatibility with such an excellent program as Lightroom 5 just to protect their somewhat poorly supported Aperture. I've been a staunch Apple supporter and user since the 80's, but having more doubts about the direction this company is taking.

  • How to recover a corrupted MSWord Document - corrupted graphics / corrupted tables

Hello i am hoping to find someone who can guide me in recovering a word document for me... I was working on it had my auto save set to every 4 mins and all
was well. closed ms word normally only to find the next time i open i get "a table in this document has been corrupted..."
Just to be clear i know all about word open and repair and recovering the last saved file etc. Those are not working. I get my file back but several graphics and
    tables are missing/messed up.
I am hoping that someone has some insight into this (maybe some document repair software that works well) and can help me restore the document or at least open
it somehow with the original pics showing so that at least i know how to make changes to the new document.
Hope this makes sense. very urgent.

If you're using Windows 7, the built-in shadow copy centre may have an older and uncorrupted version of your file.
Launch Explorer, right-click the folder that contained the document and select Properties.
If you see a Previous Versions tab then click that.
If all is well then you'll see a list of entries for the folder, going back days, or maybe weeks.
Double-click one with a date when you know the document was readable, and try opening this older version.
Save it with a new name, and then repeat the process with later folder entries until you reach the point where the file became corrupted.
If methods above didn’t work for you, you can use undelete tools like Any Data Recovery Pro (http://www.any-data-recovery.com/product/datarecoveryprofessional.htm)
or Revuca (http://www.piriform.com/recuva/features) to help you find old Office temporary files. After that, rename the TMP extension to match the real document format, and then try opening it to see what you've recovered.

  • Crashes & corrupted imports in Aperture; reinstall?

I have a MacBook Pro that had Aperture preinstalled when I bought it 2 years ago. I recently upgraded to Lion 10.7.5 and Aperture version 3.4.1 after having multiple crashes, but the crashes continued to happen. They happened usually (but not always) when I was using the loupe to inspect images for focus quality. I have repaired the library (after each crash) and also rebuilt the library. I was advised by a tech at the local Apple Store to create a brand new library with all new images and work with it for a while. If it did not crash, that might suggest my old library (or files within the library) was damaged or corrupted in some way. So I created a new library with 4 new projects. Aperture has not yet crashed, but now I am seeing lots of errors on imports from my SD cards. Some files cannot be imported and are put directly into Aperture trash. Others are marked with a badge that indicates the "referenced" originals are missing, but I don't use referenced files, only managed ones. The badges seem to be appearing on different photos each time I launch Aperture. So now I am thinking I should reinstall the software -- but since it came preinstalled, I don't have a CD or App Store purchase. How do I reinstall it?

If it had SL installed when you bought it its a bit more complicated then.  Are you sure you did not get a DVD of Aperture? You should have. Did you at least get a serial number for the application? If you have a serial number you can download the application and use your serial number to unlock it. If you did not get either of those you will have to contact Apple to try and get the application.
What you describe is a kernel panic. Very rare for a single application to cause this. Did the crashes only start happening since you installed Lion? If so did they start right away or after some time?
Creating a new user as I wrote will possibly indicate where the problem lies. If the new user account runs OK then the problem is in something in your current user environment and would lead us in one direction. If the problem continues to occur with the new user then it would lead us in another direction. Again this is just a troubleshooting step I'm not suggesting you permanently run as the new user.
Looking back at your first post I see you've had the machine in to an Apple Store already. The best thing for you right now might be to continue working with them. I'd also bring up the fact that Aperture came installed on your system when you bought it and you didn't receive a DVD or serial number (assuming those are both true) and that you were entitled to them and you want them for backup purposes.
    good luck
    regards

  • Weird graphical glitch - Aperture 2.1.1l

First, my system configuration is as follows:
    Mac Pro (original 2006), OS X 10.5.4
ATI Radeon X1900XT with two monitors (24" 1920x1200 flat panel, 17" 1280x1024 flat panel)
Nvidia 7300GT with one monitor (17" 1280x1024 flat panel)
    4GB of RAM
    2x 250GB SATA hard drives.
Here's the problem. When I use Aperture, I frequently get a black screen in the photo area when I start editing a photo, particularly the levels control. I cannot see the photo once I start editing it, and when I switch to other photos it either randomly goes black or displays the photo with really bad color distortion.
If I export the photos and open them in Preview they look fine. It's only while being edited in Aperture that they look messed up. Also, if I use the fast preview feature (P to toggle it when browsing) the problem goes away. But of course this keeps me from adjusting photos which is the primary purpose of Aperture!
Has anyone else seen this problem? It's maddening that I spent $200 on this software and it has such obvious graphical glitches.
Thanks for any insight anyone can provide.
    -John "Zorin" Flynn

Your post got me to thinking, and I started fiddling with the displays.
When I unplug the 17" flat panel from the Nvidia 7300GT card, the problem goes away. It only seems to happen when that display is active.
It doesn't seem to matter how I connect the displays, if the head on the Nvidia card is activate the problem manifests.
So there's some sort of conflict between the video cards. This is odd, because *everything else* on the system works great. Heck, I like to drag playing videos off onto that head and it works beautifully.
Oh well, guess I'll have to unplug the monitor whenever I use Aperture until the bug is fixed. Still very annoyed, as it's all Apple hardware and shouldn't have these problems. What happened to "It just works"?

  • Nouveau causes corrupted graphics

Hello there, I recently installed arch linux.
I have GeForce4 MX 440 [NV17] and til now I had no problems with my other distros [gentoo, debian/ubuntu, slackware]
The driver for this card was supposed to be at the package nvidia-96xx but recently it was removed, so I had to install the nouveau driver instead.
    And so I did.
The module loads ok but when I enter X, the graphics are corrupted a bit.
Using the option noaccel=1 or shadowfb "on" fixes the problem, but I have no acceleration, causing games like teeworlds to load reaally slow. [Assuming my thinking is right]
Can I do anything about that?
I tried to install the official nvidia drivers but I have kernel 3 and there are other problems with that.
I have xf86-video-nouveau-0.0.16_git20110726-1 (I also tried other versions of nouveau but none of them worked).
    Please help!

If it means anything, I think all NVIDIA drivers have been buggy as of Kernel 3, since I have an NVIDIA Southbridge that handles my integrated sound and it appears to be malfunctioning.  It may need to be patched by the maintainers of the OSS NVIDIA drivers.

  • Flash Start Page has Corrupted graphic

Does anyone else see this? The "Start Page' that is displayed
after launching Flash Professional 8 displays a white rectangular
graphic in the upper left-hand corner that covers up the red
banner. The graphic is all white excpet for the reddish-orange
flash "F" symbol. It's as if it is downloaded because there is an
instant before it is displayed that I can see the Flash
Professional banner that's underneath. Not really a functional
problem but somewhat annoying to look at.

I also have this problem with the Fireworks start page. But,
it does have a message which states, "Problem Loading the content
XML. You've requested a language which does not have any available
content." A few months ago I had the trials installed with no
problem. It was when I used the actual program when this
    happened.

  • Corrupted graphics, red/blue artifacts

I was playing Dragon Age 2 and suddenly these small red squares started showing up on screen.  Tried restarting the game and it didn't help.  Found out my hard drive was failing and took it to the apple store for a replacement.  I assumed hard drive was causing the problems, but now with a brand new hard drive and a fresh install the artifacts are still there.  Now they also show up on Starcraft 2, but there are larger blue squares as well.  I've tried lowering the graphics settings on both games and while this helps, I was able to play both games with near maxed graphics for months with no issues.  Seems strange that suddenly I have to play on low settings to avoid the artifacts.
2.93 GHz quad core, 12GB RAM, 1GB VRAM (ATI Radeon HD 5750)

I would suggest visiting the Apple Store Genius Bar. Bring your iMac and play the game in front of a Genius, they might be able to figure out what's happening with your computer. Also, run the Apple Hardware Test and write any error code that it provides during the testing.
