Scrambled library

I recently began having problems with the latest version of iTunes. I opened it up and when I double-clicked a song to play it, nothing happened. Then I clicked on my library and all the songs were scrambled! They were completely unorganized, as before they were organized by artist. Now it's completely random. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, restarting, etc... finally after reinstalling I completely deleted my library and thought it would work if I added everything back. I've only added one folder and I immediately saw that the songs are once again, not in order by artist. How can I get my library to be alphabetized by artist again? Any help would be much appreciated!

My iPhoto library is corrupt. How can I fix it?

The library disappeared from iPhoto so I restored it and now its fragmented my events, they are out of date sequence, some photos appear as individuals outside of events for no reason, there are triplicates and they are all named with strange numbers and letters. I bought "Duplicate Photos Fixer Pro" but when I went to scan the library it said it couldn't locate any photos, yet I can see them when I open iPhotos. I have repaired and rebuilt the library but it did not fix the issues as mentioned about. Any suggestions? Thanks

Hi Larry. When I opened iPhoto my whole library had disappeared apart from one event with about 60 photos I had added last Sunday. I went into Spotlight and searched for the Pictures folder found the iPhoto library right clicked on it and there was an option, I think it said something like "reimport" into iPhoto. I did that and then the iPhoto library appeared but with all of the issues as mentioned above. It is certainly not an old iPhoto library as there is only one on my system that I have used without any problems for 12 months. Is there a way I can delete this scrambled library in iPhotos and restore it?

How can I keep a backup copy of my iTunes library with tracks not coded and scrambled

I have about 80GB in my iTunes library and would like to keep a backup copy of all the music in folders under composers, without them being scrambled or any the numbers which are automatically placed in front of each track, which is what happens if I drag and drop them from iTunes. How can I achieve this?

Thaks for trying but this isn't relevant. I'm not refering to CDs or importing material. I have an iTunes library with nearly 20,000 tracks in it. It is also backed up with a straight copy of the entire works.
What I want to do is back up the whole lot in a package containing only the music under it's name and it's original track numbers. I can show best what I mean by dragging and dropping just two piano concertos out into an external folder.

You can imagine what a mess this is when I drag 20,000 tracks into an external backup folder. All the track ones (several thousand of them) of every piece in the entire collection will be listed first. And then all the track 2s.
I can't sort that out.
If there is a solution I think it possibly lies in the iTunes preference options. There is one, but I daren't try it for fear of unscrabbling the whole iTunes library and completely throwing all the play lists, folders and everything into a total unsorted mess. I refer to the tick box in the iTunes preference folder 'Keep iTunes media folder organised (places files into album and artist folders and names the files based on disk number, track number and song title)'
If I untick this would I unscramble years of carefully sorting disks as I imported them?

When I open old library it askes to "update" the files.. does this a few times and end result is complete scramble of photos that were previously ordeded by date

What do you do when you're trying to sync your music to iTunes library, you receive the message unknown error -54, then your music on your iPhone 5c is left scrambled?

When I first got my iPhone, I was successfully able to add my music to the iTunes library. Over a period of a month, iTunes hasn't been able to "find" increasingly more of my songs. Then this error message began to appear: unknown error (-54). After listening to tech support I backed up my phone and try to restore it. Afterwards I only had on my phone the songs I had bought. So I tried syncing it again. The same error message as stated before consistently shows up. And now my music is scrambled on my phone (since when did Stevie Wonder sing Mean and Enchanted by Taylor Swift???) Has anyone had this problem? It looks like iTunes is messing up my music. Whats the solution?

Essentially, the bare issue is that you have a 500GB hard drive with only 10GB free. That is not sufficient to run the system properly. The two options you have are to move/remove files to another location, or to install a larger hard drive (eg 2TB). Drive space has nothing to do with SMC firmware, and usually large media files are to blame.
My first recommendation is this: download and run the free OmniDiskSweeper. This will identify the exact size of all your folders - you can drill down into the subfolders and figure out where your largest culprits are. For example, you might find that your Pictures folder contains both an iPhoto Library and copies that you've brought in from a camera but are outside the iPhoto Library structure. Or perhaps you have a lot of purchased video content in iTunes.
If you find files that you KNOW you do not need, you can delete them. Don't delete them just because you have a backup, since if the backup fails, you will lose all your copies.
Don't worry about "cleaners" for now - they don't save much space and can actually cause problems. Deal with the large file situation first and see how you get on.
Let us know what you find out, and if you manage to get your space back.

TS3866 iphoto scrambles my photo library

I have an iMac using 10.8.2. 2 weeks ago I tried to edit a photo from my library on iPhoto and since then iPhoto scrambles and pixelates the images and makes them useless. I have restored iPhoto several time from time machine, but the problem persists. Can anyone help please?

As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

Audiobooks scrambled in music library

hi I have just imported three audio books onto my iphone. They only appear as single tracks and in a a scrambled order. If I import a music cd it appears all as one album and tracks 1 to 14 for example. Logical. these three books appear in chapters but they are in a random order, like track 8 first then track 3 for example. What can I do to correct this? Should I delete the lot and start again? What should I do that I didn't do last time?

First connect the iPhone to iTunes to get it up to date and iTunes Synced
Next find the audio track files in iTunes
Right click on them and use the "Get Info" button
Insert the track # into the track # field if missing
Resync
& Test
I have a feeling that the audio book doesn't have the track numbers
Also if you have shuffle on, disable it in those "Get info" screens
Finally you may also want to set the track type in the "Options" tab as "Audiobook", that could help so that the iPhone isn't considering them as music files.... But it will move the track to a new section of your iTunes and iPhone library by setting this property... Just keep that into consideration.
Secondly if you are having problems while walking, make sure that "Shake to shuffle" is not on... Or better yet, set the "Do not shuffle" setting on the audio book tracks to stop it.
I have a feeling its one of these many options... But you'll have to just take a look at each one.

Scrambled sound when scrolling through the library

After I have installed the latest itunes 7 update, I ecnountered some problems with the sound. When scrolling (quickly) through the library, the sound becomes distorted/scrambled. That also happens when typing in names (quickly) in the search function. My system requirements are sufficient and I didn't have problems with the previous version of itunes 7. Did anybody encounter similar problems?

If you named your rolls it would have the name of the roll and the date of the roll. if you didn't name your rolls it would just be the roll # and the date. Makes it easier to find what you are looking for when scrolling through the library.

Library and album are scrambled

I recently had the power supply replaced in my IMac and now iphoto has gone crazy. None of the albums have the right pictures in them and when I try to scroll through the library, groups of photos jump around, especially the last several "rolls". They intersperse themselves all over making it impossible to find specific photos

Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Somehow i/o playing the songs from my library in scrambled fashion...it keeps playing the SAME song...I can't find how to scramble the playing.

When I listen to ITunes now...the playlist isn't scrambled anymore....it plays the SAME song over and over. I can't find how to change it.

Are you also restoring from your backup? That sounds like what is happening or someone else has your Apple ID.
A backup to iCloud would have no way to add UK holidays to your calendar. Open Calendar, tap on Calendars at the bottom middle of the page and untick the ones you don't want.

Music Displaying Scrambled/Incomplete Album List from Shared Library

Since upgrading,the Music App is displaying just 50 out of 260 Albums that I access via a shared Itunes Library on my Laptop. The Artists names and artwork are all random as well and don't match. One of the albums is even displaying the artwork from a video in my shared itunes video library.
Anybody else having similar issues (just want to know that its an Apple bug and not something corrupted at my end).

I have exactly the same issue - in the remote app for airplay - all are present and correct - however on the iTunes app on my phone and iPad - if access my media library - 80% of the library is missing and of those that show up the album artwork doesn't match the album name/artist and when you select an album a completely different album is displayed!!

Tried rolling back iTunes 10.7 from 11.0 - no diferent ....thinks its an iOS 6 issue.

Again no one in the FF developers group has addressed the horrible Book Mark management system that used to work and is now a tragedy.
I spend an hour cleaning up book marks and deleting dozens of old ones.

- This is expected, the Sync account will merge all of the bookmarks connected to the account if you have syncing bookmarks selected.

Mobile bookmarks will sync in a separate folder from Desktop.

If you click on the star twice of the page you have open you can edit the folder its in when you bookmark it.

This is possible in the bookmark toolbar or in the url bar if you have bookmarks selected as suggestions.

X- marks and Sync are different software and were not designed to be compatible. Sorry for the inconvenience.
I understand that this is frustrating, if you have suggestions, I am happy to direct you to how to make these changes.

HP Scan outputs scrambled images from PSX 2355 on Mavericks

HP PSC 2355, USB, OS X 10.9.4
Since upgrading to OS X Mavericks 10.9.4 from OS X 10.8.5, HP Scan no longer saves scans properly. Although the scanned image is displayed correctly within the HP Scan app (v2.1.4), when written to disk (using any format), the resulting image is “garbage” - it looks like it’s scrambled, unrecognizable, although of the proper dimensions.
I’ve tried many of the suggestions on this forum ;
- reinstalled the HP s/w
- ran OS X software update
- deleted & re-added the printer
- disconnected & power-cycled the printer
- rebooted
- ran permissions repairs on the hard drive
- ran the 2355 firmware update
- ran the 2355 printer driver patch
...but there is no change in this behavior.
Is the HP s/w package I have incompatible with Mavericks? Is there a newer version available? The Hp software I’m installing is:
- HP_Installer_Inkjet_Full_Group11_10.3.dmg
I can find no downloadable software for the HP PSC 2355 printer on your web site.
Looking in the console log, I find these errors, which lead me to believe the s/w is too old:

The HP Scan application is not available for your printer for Mavericks.
It is a known incompatibility issue as you may find in the following document:
