Scrambled, Mixed E-mails

Windows 7 64-bit SP1
Intel Core i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40 GHz
32.0 GHz RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580
I think I have a disaster here and I need help, please.
I just started Thunderbird and opened an e-mail that I had previously viewed. The contents were NOT the e-mail that should have been contained under that Subject Header but one that I had deleted earlier in the day.
I then proceeded to open another previously viewed e-mail and it contained multiple e-mails, one of which, in the mish-mash, was the one that I wanted to see.
In some cases, the e-mail looks "normal" even though it's the incorrect message. In other cases, especially with the combined ones, I see all of the message sources.
My View - Sort By is Date/Descending/Unthreaded.
I'm hoping that I can get this rectified otherwise I'm in deep yogurt.
Thanks!

That seems to have done it perfectly. Thank you so very much!

  • Scrambled text in mail

    Does anyone know what might be causing scrambled text in mail. I recently installed some fonts and I'm thinking that may have caused this. Check out the screenshot:
    http://www.flickr.com/photos/27106722@N00/2426367911/
    I installed a lot of fonts so I can't just easily delete them. They're all mixed in with the rest. Any other ideas?

    One of your bad fonts is probably Helvetica Fractions. It must be deleted. Also delete Times Phonetic if you have it.

  • Apple Mail (v6.6, Mac OSX v10.8.5) mixes up mail threads - why, and what can I do?

    Dear community,
    I am having a weird synchronisation problem. My Mail (v6.6) on my MacBook Air (Mac OSX v10.8.5) mixes up random email threads after I read emails on my iPhone (5C).
    E. g. there is an email thread with Frank. Frank writes a new email that I read on my iPhone. Shortly after, I open Mail on my MacBook, so that Frank’s email is downloaded there as well, displayed as "read" and added to the existing thread with Frank. However, although still being named "Frank", showing the current date and reference, in fact it is an email of Fritz from two years ago, having nothing at all to do with the thread with Frank.
    Synchronising with the iPhone with USB has no effect, although the emails remain correctly displayed on the iPhone. On my MacBook’s Mail, the email from Fritz keeps to exist a second time at the time and place where it is supposed to be. Frank's email that has been replaced incorrectly, seems to be lost.
    I don’t have to explain how unfortunate such random email shuffling is. I shall be thankful for any support and hints. Many thanks,
    Ray Taras

    Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
    1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
    2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
    Click to view full size
    3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
    NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

  • Mixed up Mail

    My apple mail has suddenly gone odd and its a nightmare trying to find new mail!
    When I first got my mac all the new mail was at the top, now they seem to be in random order and for example a email I got yesterday is between one dated 2 September and one dated 30 May 2008. It means scrolling slowly through everything to try and find the ones that have just come in.
    What's wrong with it? How do I get it back so all recent mail comes in together at either top or bottom of screen together and all in chronological date order?
    I'm not sure if I've accidentally clicked on something thats changed it or how to get it back?

    Hi - with your inbox selected make sure that the "Date Received" header is selected and the arrow to the right is pointing downwards.

  • Attachments in Mails from iPad not conform to RFC2046

    Hello Community,
    Mails which were sent from iPad / iPhone and have attachments have the following technical structure:
    Headerfield Content-Type is multipart/alternative;
    --Apple-Mail-6--139698084 / Content-Type: text/plain;
          <Text>
    --Apple-Mail-6--139698084 / Content-Type: multipart/mixed;
          --Apple-Mail-7--139698081 / Content-Type: text/html;
                <Text>
          --Apple-Mail-7--139698081 / Content-Type: application/pdf;
          --Apple-Mail-7--139698081 / Content-Type: text/html;
                <Text>
          --Apple-Mail-7--139698081--
    --Apple-Mail-6--139698084--
    In some receiving Mailapplications the attachment is only displayed in HTML View, not in
    the Text-Only View of the Mail. Therefore the recipient does not see the attached Document
    when he displays the Mail in Text-Only View.
    Therefor I think that AppleMailer is not conform to the RFC2046:
    5.1.4.  Alternative Subtype
    The "multipart/alternative" type is syntactically identical to
    "multipart/mixed", but the semantics are different.  In particular,
    each of the body parts is an "alternative" version of the same
    information.
    What do You think about that ? Is this the right place to discuss this ? If not: Where can I report
    such a Problem ?
    Kind regards,
    dstrict

    If the columns are not sortable, and you can't delete tracks, that would suggest your iPad is automatically syncing with your library. You can manage the content of the iPad in this mode by creating one or more playlists for music that you do want on the device and changing the options on the music tab to include only selected playlists. You can repeat this for other kinds of media. Alternatively on the Summary tab enable the option to Manually manage music and videos.

  • Mail is in a loop.  I tried to send a bulk mailing from Filemaker Pro 10 and it has my mail program in a loop.

    I attempted to send a bulk mailing from my Filemaker Pro 10 database.  There were two bad addresses in the mix and mail continues to paint the attempts on my screen.  I have force quit the program but when I open it again, it goes back into the loop and paints messages until the program crashes.  How can I stop the emailing?

    Start off by trying to reset the ipad. Press and hold the power and home buttons at the same time until the device powers down and you see the Apple logo.

  • JES5: outlook shows 'fake' attachment icon for mails originating from uwc/e

    Hi,
    Strange thing:
    We are using JES5 with both UWC and outlook connector.
    Mails sent from UWC in Internet explorer (dutch version) display a 'file attachment' icon in outlook 2003 (in the header pane). In the message pane, there's no file attachment.
    Mails sent from UWC in Mozilla (dutch version) display fine in outlook 2003 (that is: no sign of a file attachment icon).
    Upon further inspection, I noticed that Internet explorer generates this type of mime header (notice the multipart/mixed)

    This (cosmetic) problem is unrelated to choosing 'pure text' or 'html text' in the UWC message creation window.
    I don't know where to look for solving this bug:
    - is it outlook that is unable to correctly parse the 'multipart/mixed' type of mail ?
    - or should internet explorer generate multipart/alternative style mails ?
    any ideas ?
    gr,
    Tom.

    That's not someting I've seen. I suggest a support case.

  • Weird Mail Problem

    I have about 8 accounts running in Mail, 5 of them are my own with different servers, dot mac, aol, private domain name, etc. Naturally, under user name I put my own on each of them, suddenly, Mail can't seem to tell what Mail is supposed to go where. It's pretty much hit or miss which account any email will land in (the 3 not in my name have no problem). It never occurred to be this would be a problem because I assumed where mail went was due to the actual address, not my name.
    I went in and deleted all names so it would only use the mail address for ID and that hasn't helped because Mail is still holding a memory of the accounts under my name. That part where you can just type the first letter of an address and it gives you all the choices that have been used before.
    Removing preferences doesn't work, that totally erases ALL accounts. I tried rebuild mailboxes and that didn't help. How can I flush out the old names so that Mail stops using my name and mixing the mail up.

    The FULL NAME and USER NAME for an email account are
    not one in the same and are not interchangeable when
    trying to describe a problem with the Full Name used
    for an email account.
    Sorry, my mistake. I had just looked at it and could of sworn it said User Name and not Full Name. Must be this flu I'm fighting.
    The email address may appear hidden due to using
    Mail's Smart Address feature but is not hidden when
    viewing the long message headers for a received or
    sent message.
    Yes I know, but turning that off doesn't get rid of the Full Name, it just puts both the full name and the full address on there. And, even though I've deleted all Full Names in the problem accounts Mail still automatically puts the old Full Name in the email even though it's been deleted. Changing the name rather than deleting it doesn't help either, it still puts the original name in.
    With one of these received messages sent to your AOL
    email address for example but was received by and
    deposited in the Inbox mailbox for your Spymac
    account, at the menu bar go to View > Message and
    select Long Headers.
    Which email address is shown in the To: or Cc: field
    - your AOL email address or your Spymac email address?
    My AOL address sitting there the Spymac Inbox, otherwise I wouldn't know I had the problem. In fact, I just checked Spymac's Webmail and it's on their server too.

    I have manged what I wanted(send a mail with an attachment)

  • My MacBook Pro is acting really strange and unusual

    Please read my 3 part chronicle named 'The Tribulations of M. B. Pro'   Pictures featured at end.
    I recently showed an apple techy (in-store) a picture of what my laptop displayed the other day and he said he didn't know but I should bring it in asap, he looked worried and slightly frightened for me. This worried me. I feared for the well-being of my Laptop. He also said I could try wiping it clean and reinstalling software via CD, but tried to persuade me to take it in. Frankly, I wondered if any of you clever gents know if I can do anything myself. I shall tell you all I know, its a long story but the details I think are rather important...
    So it all started a few months ago, I was surfing the web on my iPhone and a new window popped up claiming to be the 'police' and I was in trouble for illegally downloading stuff. I regrettably copy and pasted the url onto my mac. D:  So it turned out to be fake and tryied to make me pay out and it also tried to give me a virus I think, it said it has encrypted all my files etc. Every time I tried to leave the site a mac popup said are you sure you want to leave and it kept popping up so I couldn't close safari. Eventually it closed, but I was slightly shaken by this dreadful ordeal that we shall from now on call 'The Unworthy Comeuppance', I then downloaded Sophos antivirus software and it scanned to say everything was clean, although it did say 'issues detected but no threats found'. After search the web i concluded this was normal. End of part 1.
    Part 2.
    From the beginning of The Unworthy Comeuppance my Laptop has, I believe, slowed down considerably. It most certainly has done from 18 months ago when it was new. Putting this issue aside, however, you will be intrigued to hear the odd predicaments that have become of my much loved MacBook Pro. After resetting Safari and restarting my laptop the following day, I lauched safari only for it to present a jumbley scrambled mixed up mess of scary computer badness, I name it Lucifer. It appeared only for 3 seconds or so, enough to make me poo instantly and be sick all over myself. I soldiered on and all seemed to be well, other than the slowness/not very fastness. Weeks went by, all the while I thought my laptop may have been completely normal. However, one day I launched Safari for who else but Lucifer to reappear! The little **** has shown himself a few times since too, 6 or 7 times in total I think. It has never been an inconvenience or disruption, just a worry. End of part 2.
    Part 3.
    Noticing longer start up times and slower performance, I worry what has become of my laptop since The Unworthy Comeuppance. One day after restarting, a few graphics were slightly odd, some icons on the dock were blocks of fizzy colours and the bar at the top changed to black/invisible. The only way this went was after I restarted it again. In addition to this, sometimes when it turns on it makes a wierd noise. Normally makes that du u uuuu duuuuu noise, but it did this twice. I do not mean the duuuuuuuuu mac sound on startup. I mean the sound of the hardware, du u uuuu duuuuu. Generally applications take longer to load, especially iPhoto, but all apps take a while now, as well as slow start up. All of which has lead me to this exact moment where you are reading this right now. End of part 3.
    Fin
    I look forward to your suggestions.
    Cheers

    You don't say which year you have, however...
    ...there are known problems with the mid-2010 models (see http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4088?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US) as well as early and late 15" 2011 models (see https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4766577?tstart=0).
    Apple has taken ownership of the problems with the 2010 model but, unfortunately, the free logic board replacement for that model has probably long expired for you - three years after date of purchase.
    One the 2011 models Apple has admitted no defect. You'll just have to skim the articles to get an overview of the problems that people are having (usually showing up as screen glitches at first and then going downhill from there).
    Good luck,

  • Attachment without multipart content type

    Hello,
    My application receives mails sent from some different customers and parses the mail's attachments. The problem is that all these customers send their mails in a very different ways. Some of them send mails with "Content-Type: multipart/mixed;" header while some others send mail with the following headers (among some other):
    MIME-Version: 1.0
    Content-Type: application/xml
    Date: Tue, 11 Feb 2014 18:33:26 +0000
    From: <[email protected]>
    Message-ID: <1392143606.220.1@cls0361>
    Subject: orders000005311382.xml
    To: <[email protected]>
    There is no "Content-Type: multipart/mixed;" header at all. When I look at these messages with MS Outlook I can see that they have proper attachements.
    Now I have 2 problems:
    1. I would like to produce such an email myself since resending the received emails changes the message headers. There are lots of examples how to send a message with an attachment in Java with MimeMultipart object (this produces "Content-Type: multipart/mixed;") but I could not find one which sends the message with "Content-Type: application/xml" header only without any multipart header. I suspect that there are some specific applications which send mails in that way - not standard mail clients.
    2. I would like to get the attachment of a received mail with "Content-Type: application/xml" header. The following code works for "Content-Type: multipart/mixed;" only:
    public void invoke() throws Exception {
      /* Available Variables: DO NOT MODIFY
        In  : String mimeMessage
        In  : String encoding
        Out : String[] mimeParts
      * Available Variables: DO NOT MODIFY *****/
      javax.mail.util.ByteArrayDataSource ds = new javax.mail.util.ByteArrayDataSource(mimeMessage, "multipart/mixed");
      javax.mail.internet.MimeMultipart mm = new javax.mail.internet.MimeMultipart(ds);
      java.util.ArrayList<String> al = new java.util.ArrayList<String>();
      getAttachements(mm, al, 1);
      mimeParts = new String[0];
      mimeParts = al.toArray(mimeParts);
    private void getAttachements(javax.mail.internet.MimeMultipart mm, ArrayList<String> al, int depth) throws Exception {
      if (depth > 9) {
        return;
      int mimePartsCount = mm.getCount();
      for (int i = 0; i < mimePartsCount; i++){
        javax.mail.internet.MimeBodyPart mbp = (javax.mail.internet.MimeBodyPart)mm.getBodyPart(i);
        //System.out.println(depth + ": " + mbp + " " + mbp.getContentType() + " " + mbp.getContentID() + " " + mbp.getDisposition());
        if(mbp.getContentType().startsWith("multipart")){
          javax.mail.util.ByteArrayDataSource ds2 = new javax.mail.util.ByteArrayDataSource(mbp.getInputStream(), "multipart/mixed");
          javax.mail.internet.MimeMultipart mm2 = new javax.mail.internet.MimeMultipart(ds2);
          getAttachements(mm2, al, depth+1);
        } else {
          if (mbp.getDisposition() != null && mbp.getDisposition().startsWith("attachment") && !mbp.getContentType().contains("signature")){
            BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(mbp.getInputStream(),encoding));
            String s = br.readLine();
            StringBuffer sb = new StringBuffer();
            while (s != null) {
              sb.append(s);
              s = br.readLine();
            al.add(sb.toString());
    Could anyone suggest anything which may be helpful for resolving 1 or 2?
    Best regards

    You are right! parsing of such not-multipart mail may look like that:
    if (contentType.startsWith("application/xml")) {
                //just a plain attachement which is a mail's content and not a multipart.
                mimeParts = new String[1];
                //according to RFC 2822 empty line separates headers from the body
                mimeParts[0] = mimeMessage.substring(mimeMessage.indexOf("\n\r")).trim();
    } else {
                //multipart mail
                javax.mail.util.ByteArrayDataSource ds = new javax.mail.util.ByteArrayDataSource(mimeMessage, "multipart/mixed");
                javax.mail.internet.MimeMultipart mm = new javax.mail.internet.MimeMultipart(ds);

  • Attachment without multipart

    Hi,
    Can anybody tell me if it is possible to send a mail with javamail without using MultiPart?
    thanks

    You are right! parsing of such not-multipart mail may look like that:
    if (contentType.startsWith("application/xml")) {
                //just a plain attachement which is a mail's content and not a multipart.
                mimeParts = new String[1];
                //according to RFC 2822 empty line separates headers from the body
                mimeParts[0] = mimeMessage.substring(mimeMessage.indexOf("\n\r")).trim();
    } else {
                //multipart mail
                javax.mail.util.ByteArrayDataSource ds = new javax.mail.util.ByteArrayDataSource(mimeMessage, "multipart/mixed");
                javax.mail.internet.MimeMultipart mm = new javax.mail.internet.MimeMultipart(ds);
                java.util.ArrayList<String> al = new java.util.ArrayList<String>();
                getAttachements(mm, al, 1);
                mimeParts = new String[0];
                mimeParts = al.toArray(mimeParts);
    Thanks!

  • Just bought an iphone - blackberry user here...

    OK, I'm a longtime Mac guy, sort of long term Blackberry fan, heavy network engineering type living in an enterprise data environment, but I finally broke down and went iPhone due to the fact it is very easy to connect to my Exchange server.
    This may be a very dumb question but - how the @!*^@#!#! do I do a KEYWORD SEARCH!?!?
    This was a key feature of the Blackberry that I didn't think would be an issue on my iPhone.
    Is there no way to do a search on the mail client?
    Thanks

    It's not a great answer but the iPhone has an adequate browser to use exchange OWA and OWA has a search if you really get stuck.
    I am a converting blackberry user -- carry both, BB for office and iPhone personal, and I rarely used search on the BB but I know some who do and not sure why something that simple (even if not indexed and just brute force) isn't in there.
    I've found the iPhone a real mixed e-mail blessing -- much better HTML support, activesync is much more reliable than BES (a real surprise), but I don' thave things like filters. Overall though I think the MUCH better browser makes up for less featured e-mail, especially since so far I've found it to be fully reliable e-mail which to me would have been a killer issue.

  • Conditional Message to Recipients based on attribute

    Hi,
    I want to send differnet mails through EMOD to receipients in CRM database (Accounts, contacts) based on their attribute. E.G. i have customers from North and south and there is a different mail we have designed for north and south. So i want to achieve some thing like. when sending a mail to all receipients, customer in north will receive the north mail ans customer in south get the south mail.
    Nisman

    Hi Nisman !
    With EMOD, one campaign will send only one e-mail to all the recipients. So if you have 2 e-mail models, you won't be able to send them with only one campaign. There'are two solutions :
    1 - Use only one campaign. Your recipients are all your customers (north and south) and you'll have to create a mixed e-mail with a condition block. Something like If Region = North then display a block containing the north e-mail, else display a block containing the south e-mail... I guess there are some parts of your 2 e-mails that are similar... I think this is the best solution.
    2 - Divide your recipients in 2 parts (north and south) and create 2 campaigns, one with the north e-mail and the other with the south one.
    Hope this will help, feel free to ask more !

  • Many songs on my iPad are cut off before completion, or are scrambled (bits of different tunes mixed in with other tunes).

    I am running iTunes 11.0.3.42 on Windows 8, and am an iTunes match subscriber.  I have approximately 2700 songs in my library - maybe 1/2 and 1/2 ripped from my CD collection and the rest purchase exclusively through iTunes.  None of this music is pirated.
    When playing this music back on my iPad, I am finding that many songs are cut off before they complete.  When this happens, they continue to play, but it is just silence.  Additionally, many other tunes are scrambled, with bits of other songs mixed together into one.  When going back to iTunes on my PC, I will sometimes find that the songs play fine there - but sometimes they behave as they do on the iPad.
    This happens whether or not I run my library with iTunes match on the iPad.  I have redownloaded all my songs to try to repair this, with mixed results.  It will often fix the songs that I was having trouble with - but then other songs will begin to show the same type of problems.  I know that 2700 songs is not an immense library, but it is too large for me to systematically review the whole library - which makes tracking these problems very difficult.
    I have seen similar types of complaints on the forums ranging over the last several years.  It also seems that these problems have been "solved" by many different methods.  Nothing I have found has worked for me - or only worked with the mixed results I mention above.  I wonder if these individuals have actually been getting the mixed results I am finding.
    This is truly frustrating, as I do not do anything exotic with my library, and have not pirated, but gotten my music honestly.  I also have ripped my entire CD collection into iTunes, and have gotten rid of the CD's - as I have NEVER had similar problems to this in all the many years I have been using iTunes.  Suddenly I find that I have a majorly corrupted library, with seemingly no way out.  I cannot even abandon iTunes since I have such an investment in it.  At a minimum of $.99 per song it would cost me almost $2700 to replace my library honestly, and that is at the low end of what I would pay.  I don't know about you - but I don't have three grand to blow on replacing a music library I already paid for just to get away from a crappy product (sorry Apple - but what the heck else would you call this nonsense?).  Makes a dude covet taking an eye-patch.
    I am screwed and doubt there's a way out - but I have no choice but to ask for help.  Anyone?
