Scrambled pictures in Effects

I just got a Sony Handycam as an entry into video as a first time user. Shot a few tapes over Christmas and I am now trying to compile a movie. My first tape has loaded fine into iMovie and clips have been created. When I try to smooth the junction of clips with fade, or any of the other effects for that matter, I get a scrambled image, like coarse pixelation, rolling up the screen from bottom to top. Any help in solving this problem would be very much appreciated.

Hmm. That reminds me of the iMovie 4 PAL bug that is fixed in iMovie 5 (you have to do some extra video manipulation to see the bug so I wonder whether this is the case, though).
Are you using iMovie 4 or 5??

Depending on how much of it you may need to do you might take a look

They have a "slide" program that might work for you.
I will create an "swf" file that actually has better compatibility than QT if one's not using an Iphone or Ipad.
I imagine there are others, but I have theirs and it works well.

(click on "enter the site")? It might have a *screen* blending mode
applied. Or, you could apply "advanced effect" to the image where
you add to all the R,G,B values. i.e. 100% Red +128, 100% Green
+128, 100% Blue +128.

Scrambled picture in background on photo booth

Have just installed leopard and have been trying to use the new background features in photo booth but the picture is breaking up and scrambling, i have both re started and power off'd but this has not helped. does anyone have a solution please?????

So they are "New" in that you have just got Leopard (Not Extra ones) ?
Ok they are somewhat Light and Colour dependant.
For Instance.
Lighting in front of you (Screen side) is much better than windows or lighting behind you.
Also if any of your clothing matches the background when you are out to the screen then that will show through. ( a top the same colour as the walls or a black top where the chair in view in the background is also black - that sort of thing - include dark hair where a shadow or dark background is)
Overhead lighting that is behind you can cause a sort of halo effect.
Having said that you seem to be saying it is at the point of the count down to the "Flash" that things seem to go awry.
This may be improved by increasing the lighting to reduce the effect of the Screen "Flash"

How to stop geting scrambled picture order on usb drive

I have made a album with pictures from 2 cameras on iphoto When I load the album on to a usb drive to play on an hd tv the picture order scrambles, but stays the same on the Iphoto album. I also tryed to load the album onto a dvd as a slide show but the dvd player does not recognize the disk.

Follow this workflow:
1 - assemble the photos in an album in the order you want.
2 - select all and use the Photos ➙ Batch Change ➙ Title to Text menu option.
3 - give them a common title and check the checkbox to add a sequential number to the title.
4 - select the newly retitled photos and use the File ➙ Export ➙ File Export menu option.
5 - select File Name: Use Title in the File Export window.
This will give you new file names for those photos that will be in the order you want when viewed alphanumerically in the Finder.

You can use Create Mask and a little creativity to make a transition. I generate a "classic" transition between two pictures as an array of pictures. You can export the individual frames using the Picture pallete VIs if you wish.

Compaq Presairo V6000 Graphics Scramble Picture

I have a Compaq V6000 2 Ghz laptop it runs good starts up only problem is that when it boots and goes it to windows Vista the screen goes crazy on the laptop screen and on the external monitor it is scrambled like your tv would do if it horizontal and vertical controls are going out and it rolls almost like color is too strong or image is to powerful for it,
I can add pictures if you like
also it only does this in and at startup of windows not in Bios it is fine and Compaq logo at power on is fine any ideas?
I have Tried cleaning the CPU and GPU and re applied Thermal Grease and made sure fan is clean or any blocking

Hi Todd,
If you get same symptom on external monitor, your VRAM probably broken. You need to replace a new system board.
Otherwise you can try to reassemble the LCD cable, or check if cable got damaged.

How to insert pictures without effecting the audio 1 and sound track

I am new to Premiere elements 10 and I am having trouble when I am moving clips such as pictures into the middle of the timeline between video clips.
When I move a picture directly to the middle of the time line it clips and separates the music I have on the soundtrack.   I found through Lynda.com and Adobe Help that if you hold down the "alt" key while inserting the new picture you will not effect the soundtrack or other tracks.   This issue I have with the alt key is now the rest of the clips in the timeline have the audio 1 track and the video 1 track offset by the duration of the picture that was inserted. My project is over an hour long so its hard to go back and straighten this out.
What is the best way to handle this???
Adding extra video clips into the middle of the project works great with the alt key because the video 1 and audio 1 moves together.

I did purchase the book and it has been quite helpful. One more question on pictures. One page 46 you talk about downsizing the pictures and unchecking frame to scale on page 48.   My computer was crashing after putting in about 1 hour of video and few hundred pictures so I was pretty interested in this suggestion.
When I resize the pictures to 1000 x 750 and uncheck the frame to scale my pictures show up too large on the screen and crops off part of the picture.   Of course if I go to 640 x 480 it looks OK.   I am not really sure what the advantage of unchecking the frame to scale. It seems like a fail safe method.
I am using a project setting DV NTSC since that matches my mini DV tapes.
Question:
1.   Better to resize to 640 x 480 and uncheck frame to scale?
2. resize to 1000 x 750 and leave the frame to scale checked?
3. Resize to 640 x 480 and change the project setting so future pictures will not be frame to scale?
I just want to have the system more reliable and quit crashing but still maintain the high quality.   I am using a AMD Phenom II x 4 830 processor, 2.8 G Hz, Windows 64, 6 GB RAM.
The first option means I have to reload all my pictures. Changing the size in the same folder with Photoshop process multi files is easy, but I cannot change the frame to size without reloading everything since it was originally checked when I started the project.

Movies now play with picture tiling effect

I have Quicktime Pro - for a year now - everything fine - don't know what happened - maybe when I did the update prompted by ITunes? All files I was able to view previously appear to be tiled. Audio is fine.
I have tried to re-register with my Pro key but no change. I have Quicktime 7.4.1 now. Don't know what I had before ITunes updated it.
Everything does go onto my Ipod fine though, no issues there...yet...
I went to the Quicktime page and downloaded it again. It then asked if I wanted to repair or (remove?)- I chose repair. Then tried registering again - no change

Open the QuickTime Control Panel / Video tab and check the box for "Safe mode".
Quit and relaunch QuickTime and any open browser and try the page/file again.

Hibernate resumes with scrambled picture

Upon resume from hibernation, everything works fine except the screen. It either stays black, or is filled with various amount of colourful stripes.
I am running Nvidia proprietary drivers (nouveau not an option due to poor power management) and TuxOnIce.
Does someone know how to fix that?

one other suggestion, as you have 4G RAM make sure /swap partition is at least 4G to allow for hibernation.

HT1349 The iPhone 4S setting (white on black) it is so cool! But one thing that I don't know if Apple is aware of this glitch or not, but they need to fix it, when you go to that mode every picture and every icon go to negative view, has anyone experience

One very COOL feature on iPhone 4S that I just discovered, is the (White on Black) display mode, which is so cool and atrictive. When you go to that mode, every picture on the iPhone, facebook, icons and every other applications that displays a picture are effected, native or installed Apps. that displays a picture goes in to negative view, if you want to view your pictures, you have to go back to the default setting, very disappointing.
This is a very cool feature and Apple needs to find a way that all photos are immune and preserved from the conversion when a user switches to that mode.
Love to hear your comments and suggestions and I'm sure that Apple developers can come up with a solution to fix the glitch.

Hmmmm, http://www.seattlepi.com/ loads fine hear in 10.4.11, FF 3.6.8, but I do see it uses some kind of Flash.
The last really supported Flash for PPC was 10.1.102.64, but if it's for like Facebook or such, people have been fooling FB to think they have a leter version installed.

Trimmed Video has sound but no picture

I need to split a large video file in two. When I use the trim function and select the first half of the video, it works great. I get a file with just the first half of the video - great sound and picture. However, when I try and create a file containing just the second half of the video, I get sound put a scrambled picture. I've tried trimming as well as deleting the first half of the video and the end result is the same.
Any ideas of how to fix this?

i have the opposite problem as you, video but no sound...
