Scrambled Screen after Restore

Ipod Mini that was sitting for 6 months. I updated my Mac Mini to latest ITunes 7.01, and did Full Restore with iPod. Now screen is all scrambled. Scrambled, garbled, distorted, jumbled text, funny lines, etc. It worked fine before the update of software and restore.
Last, I don't have a wall adapter, so I used a firewire to finish the restore. Was that what messed up the iPod?

Is the iPod recognized by the computer? If so, try another Restore.
The firewire thing probably did not screw up the iPod, by the way.
I hope this helps!

Has your phone ever been hacked or jailbroken. This error message is what usually shows up for that. Are you using a supported carrier for the iPhone, or did someone hack the phone to unlock it to be used on another carrier. If that is the case, then there is no help you can get here as discussing hacked/jailbroken devices is not allowed.

  • TS3474 my i pod is still on a white screen after restoring with the two buttons and also restoring on i tunes and it still has a white screen

my i pod is still on a white screen after restoring with the two buttons and also restoring on i tunes and it still has a white screen

I've been struggling with mine all morning with the same issue.
Mine would not wake up from sleep (will just white screen).
It will boot using a hard reset (i.e. the power button and volume down button being held down for 8 or so secs). I restored and synced it multiple times but it still has a problem waking up and just just goes to white screen.
I saw a post suggesting a loose connection which I had my doubts about (as it will wake with hard reset) - bit BINGO! If I wake mine (with index finger) whilst applying pressure to the top of the screen area (with my thumbs) it will wake up. When I become frustrated enough I'll take it apart and see if something has become loose.
    Hope this helps.

  • HT1414 still has white screen after restore

I still have a white screen after restart and restore

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod via iTunes (Not via Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Setting) and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

  • Stuck on grey screen after restore

Ok, I thought I was a Mac power user until today with over 20 years using them, but I'm stumped.
I installed Lion and had the now-famous "lost user account" issue. So I "added" my old account and everything seemed ok. But when I tried to use Aperture, it couldn't find my library, which is one of the main things I use the Mac for. Not finding any solutions after quite a bit of Internet research, I reluctantly did a full restore (from 2 days before Lion was launched). The restore took literally all of yesterday. When I woke up, I was greeted with a notice saying that the restore had been successful. Great, right?  Not so fast.
Since I hit restart, the machine has been stuck on the grey startup screen. (I'm typing this on my iPad)
I am about ready to break out my trusty copy of Disk Warrior, but before I do I thought I would ask the friendly folks here if you have any helpful suggestions so I don't make things worse. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Well, I got off the grey screen by doing a force shutdown and re-installing Snow Leopard, in case anyone else is having the same problem.  I'm now in the process of verifying that everything that was on my machine is still functional before I contemplate "upgrading" to Lion again.  Needless to say, I recommend regular backups.  I've been doing so for a long time and have never needed the backup until now -- I'm glad I have it!

  • Iphone 3gs stuck in black screen after restoring to new os

    Hi
I had my 3gs running at 4.2.1 and I wanted to update my os recently.. since my itunes is kinda old it was able to get 4.3.5 after updating and restoring the
phone goes back to the DFU mode(just black screen). But Itunes detects it that it is in recovery mode and to restored.. tried a hundred times and failed
    Please help

Is there a SIM in the device?  A SIM is required for activation.
The most common reason for activation issues is due to the device being hacked or jailbroken.  If this is the case, no support can be provided here and Apple will not touch the device.

  • Can't get past white loading a screen after restoring from time machine backup

I am aware there are others threads of my problem however they date back years ago and after trying their solutions it still does not work.
After using Time Machine to restore my hard drive from a backup, I can't get past the white loading screen with apple logo after system restart during restore process. Ive gone into disk utility and repaired hard drive - it's fine. So I know this is a software glitch. I've also tried resetting SMC & PRAM (whatever those mean). No success and i cannot get past the white loading screen.
I'm running Mavericks (latest) on a late 2009 iMac. Thank you!

If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
If you use FileVault 2, then before running the Installer you must launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the FileVault startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) It will be nested below another icon with the same name. Click the Unlock button in the toolbar and enter your login password when prompted. Then quit Disk Utility to be returned to the main Recovery screen.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode. All other data will be preserved.

  • Blue screen after restore from time machine

    hi,
last week I needed to restore my whole OS on my Mini from Time Machine (USB HD). After the restore my Mini only shows a blue screen with a circling sun. I tried to use an older backup (2 days earlier) from time machine with the same problem. From my Macbook I connect via ssh to the mini and can view the running processes but I don not get the login window or the usual GUI. How can I solve the problem?

  • Iphone 5s stuck at activation screen after restoring to factory setting

I had deleted my Apple ID and created one same Apple ID again. After i restored my iphone to factory setting, it stuck at the activation screen, even if i filled in the correct Apple ID and password, it shows "cannot use this Apple ID to unock this phone'. Seek for help.

You need the AppleID and passcode used to originally activate the iPhone.
This is a new security feature in iOS7 called Activation Lock. There is no
    workaround.
Without the AppleID and passcode used to activate the iPhone, it will be useless
    to you and everyone else.
If it is only the passcode that you forgot, try here:

  • White screen after restoring from Time Machine. HELP

I had to get my Hard Drive replaced (500 gb, 5400, OSX 10.6 is what it says on the receipt) and while I was waiting, after two hours, for it to restore from my external hard drive (WD 1TB), it said only 22 more minutes and then it suddenly said 'The disk was not ejected properly'. Then it changed its mind to Finished and everything was supposed to be transferred. I was told to log out of my account as soon as it was finished. I did so and now the screen has been white for 2 hours. It's making that air-refreshing-sound it does sometimes. Mouse is frozen too. No booting just white screen.
I am soo nervous because I have ALL MY WORK that I really need transferred ASAP.
I am soo greatful for every piece of advice as I have no idea what to do!!!!
p.s. I don't have any internet connection at home either...

  • Finder Shows a "Scrambled" Screen After Mavericks Install

Installed Mavericks last night. Everything went fine except for the "completing installation" (after the machine reboots) where I got a message telling me "less than a minute to go" even though it took close to an hour. But it did finish and I was excited.
After the install, and prior to going to bed, I noticed that everything on the machine was very slow, performance-wise. But I was also aware that Spotlight was probably re-indexing my entire machine and didn't worry.
Just got up and decided to check out the machine. Performance-wise, it seems to be back to normal. However, just as I was about to breathe a big sigh of relief, I am noticing that the Finder (and only the finder so far, no issues with any other software that I've noticed) is having some major display issues. For instance, lets say I'm in my Downloads folder. Everything is in list format (my preference) nice, normal and neat. But if I grab a file (just a random JPG) and throw it in the trash... well, as soon as I do that everything goes berserk in that Finder window.
Have tried toggling the display options at the top of the window (icons, cover flow, etc...) and while it will change what shows up in the window, it is still scrambled. Ditto for navigating to a new window. If I choose desktop (currently empty) I get a plain white window but if I show any other folder with content in it, its the same scrambled view.
What's more is that when I attempted to take a screenshot, it doesn't render the scrambling, just puts a gray window in place of where the scrambling effect was. I have included that screenshot here and then I also took a literal photograph of my screen and attached that as well.
Can anyone help? I'm afraid of rebooting my machine for fear of making the problem worse. And I foolishly did not do all of the back-up steps recommended before a Mavericks install, so that may limit my options moving forward. Ugh.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Man, I'm afraid to say it but it is starting to look like the Finder glitch thing is the least of my worries. After spending a couple of hours on my Mac, I'm finding that my earlier statement about speeds being back to normal was incorrect. Everything is SLOOOOOW. Even typing in this Window is taking forever becuase there's a long lag, characters jumping, etc...
This seems to extend everywhere. Web pages are incredibly slow to load now. Apps are taking forever to load. It just took 90+ seconds to open Safari. Ugh.
A day ago I had a lightning fast machine with a reliable OSX that had never given me a single issue. Now I've got a slow, glitchy POS that wouldn't come out on top if it was facing off against a 10 year-old HP. Thanks a lot, Apple.

  • IMac will not boot up - stuck on grey logo screen after restoring

I recently attempted to restore my iMac using the time machine back up. I followed the instructions to the letter, found the back up I wanted to restore from and selected. All seemed to go well. I was presented with a screen that said something like "restore successful click restart to continue". I did this and when the machine restarted it just freezes on the opening screen with the grey apple logo and spinning wheel. I searched for advice and have since tried restoring from another back up - same problem. I have run the disk repair and all is fine. The iMac is just under a year old so hopefully still covered by manufacturer warranty. Any suggestions how I can fix before lugging the machine 35 miles to the local Apple store?

    Roger,
Thanks for your advice. I have a wireless keyboard and no access to a wired one until tomorrow. Tried your instructions but nothing happened. I know the keyboard works as I can open up the mac os install disk by pressing 'c' on start up.
I was restoring from backup as I had made a mess of my music and photo folders since trying to sync up an iPad using another account. Thought it was easier to restore my mac to a week earlier when everything worked fine - so far this has backfired!!

  • Weird! RAID icons still in the boot screen after restored them back to norm

I created a software RAID 0 with two 250GB hard disks by using Disk Utility. Installed OSX on them. And I restored them to two separated disks yesterday, Installed OSX on one of them, formated another one for media storage. But weird thing is when I press "alt"key into boot screen, they are still there! Now I have five boot icons- two RAID disks, one OSX, one backup OSX and one for windows. What is wrong with that?? Anyone have the same problem? PLZ help!!!

Thanks BUT problem solved! I reformated the disks using "zero-out" option in Disk Utility and guess what? The stupid icons disappeared!:D "zero-out" formating will take longer than normal formating, about 40 minutes for a 250GB HD.

  • IPOD Stuck on Language Screen after restoring

My IPOD, a 30GB video IPOD purchased a few years ago, has been getting stuck and not able to go further for the past couple days. I tried all the options and ended up doing a restore - but the restore has caused it to lock on the Language Screen.
I have tried everything - I read online that it may be broken inside but I haven't dropped it or anything and it was working find? Totaly confused and Upset!

See if you can find a find using a Mac computer, and to a Restore there.
