Scratch Disk not showing

I just installed CC Photoshop 14.2 on my Levona Yoga2 Pro.  The "scratch disk" options do not include external drives. If I open CS3, I am able to select these external drives as scratch disks.  Any help out there?

  • Final Cut Express scratch disk not found.

I launch up final cut express and then it says "one or more scratch disks couldn't not be accesed." and it siad that it was the final cut express documents folder so I went on that and put all the permissions on read and write but it still said the same thing. Then it said it's location was the trash but nothing was in the trash so now I am very confused.

Your Default Scratch Disc setting is Macintosh HD>Users>Home>Documents>Final Cut Express Documents.
This is where all stuff goes unless you change your FCE>System Settings>Scratch Disc Tab.
Open the FCE System Settings>Scratch Disc, the top line, with the check marks, are where current captures go to.
If you decide to rename clips etc. do so within the FCE application and not through the Finder as the later will loose the links and FCE will have to re-connect.
If you right click a clip in the Browser or Timeline you will see the Reveal in Finder option, this will show you the file path to where the clip is located on your system.
If you see a red slash through the name, it's Offline and the path has somehow been broken. Reconnect it.

  • External Hard Disk not showing up on Finder

    Hi
My HP Pocket Media Drive (USB), when plugged into my MacBook, does not show up on the Finder, even though it shows up on System Profiler. It only shows up on Disk Utility in certain occasions (such as after shutting down and starting up again). I have checked my Finder preferences, that external hard drives are shown on desktop.
I have tried resetting my PRAM and SMC too, but I still can't access the hard disk.
    Any help will be appreciated.

On the chance that your Mac has a phantom folder in its Volumes folder, with that external drive not mounted, invoke the Finder menu option Go > Go to Folder. Enter "/Volumes" (without the quotes) in the field and click "Go". In the resulting window if you see anything with a name that resembles your external drive, trash it.
Anyone know how I can have the external hard disk automatically mount onto my desktop (and thereby bypass the need for several click-thru’s via the finder window)?
Once you're able to mount that external drive, open the Accounts panel of System Preferences and click on the lock in the corner to authenticate if needed. Select your account on the left, then the "Login Items" tab. Drag the mounted disk icon into the window then close System Preferences. That disk should now mount when you log in. A Finder window will open, but you can close that manually. If that bothers you sufficiently, if you search these discussion groups you may be able to find threads that discuss how to work around that.

  • Time Machine disk not showing up in Migration Assistant

I have backed up my Snow Leopard with Time Machine and I'm trying to import my stuff into Lion using Migration Assistant. However, my Time Machine disk is not showing up in Migration Assistant even though it's connected and shows in Finder. Any idea why?

I couldn't migrate from Snow Leopard drive either -- Snow Leopard used PGP encyption, migration copied the files, but they seem inaccessible to Lion with "permission denied" errors.
It sounds like you did migrate successfully. It's normal for the permissions to be wrong -- Migration Assistant creates a new account with the files from the old one.
What I would do in your place is start over. First, decrypt the SL volume and uninstall PGP. You should do that anyway, because PGP is a turkey and not needed in Lion. Erase the Lion volume (assuming you have no data on it that isn't already on your SL volume), reinstall Lion, and then use Setup Assistant, not Migration Assistant, to do the migration.

  • Shared disk not showing up in Finder

I'm sharing a disk drive on a Mac Mini. I can see it listed and access it on from one laptop, but it's no longer visible from my MacBook Pro. It was there yesterday, but I went on standby with it still connected, and there were messages about it being improperly dismounted, and now I can no longer see it. I've rebooted the Mac Mini and the MacBook Pro, but it just does not show up. Any ideas?

Not sure what has changed but I just noticed it is now showing my PC on both the iMac and Macbook. I just finished installing Ubuntu on a separate partition and when I booted back into Vista it worked...maybe it got scared I was gonna stay in Ubuntu

  • TM Disk not showing up in Migration Assistant

    Hey guys,
So I have a 1 Tb Lacie harddrive that has 3 partitions. 1 small one for windows transfers, 1 mac formatted disk and 1 dedicated to Time Machine.
I back up everything except the Movies and Downloads folders.
I have a new imac at my disposal and wanted to use Migration Assistant to transfer everything from my macbook using the Time Machine backup. I attach the drive to the imac, all 3 partitions mount. I start up MA but when selecting which drive to use the backup from I can't selected any of the attached drives as they do not show up as options. All I see is the HD of the iMac itself (with 0 Kbs size).
I tried repairing the disk but that didn't help. What could be the problem? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks all,
    Rob

AFAIK, you can only do that on the new machine's first boot. Boot with the install disc that came with the iMac, erase it's HD with Disk Utility, and then restore the machine. Details are described by launching the Installation Instructions.app inside the installer's Installation folder. Then, hook up the ext HD, and on first boot, restore from the TM backup.

  • Why are scratch disks not used in PS CC 2014

When editing very large project that include several layers of images and smart objects, I'm often using up all available RAM. Just as 14GB is reached, I get an out of RAM error and can't save (usually the smart objects updating is what kicks the error in)
OK, I'm out of RAM. But I've set up a 400GB scratch disk drive in Preferences. Why is that not being accessed in order to finish the operation?

OK Here's the system and settings you asked for:
I moved the memory usage slider from 10518 all the way up to 99% as shown and it just allowed more RAM usage (as expected).
    My hard drives are healthy:
Let me know if you see anything of interest.
    Thanks

  • Airport Disk not showing after update

    Hello,
I have an Airport Extreme with a USB HD attached and the system was working perfectly. I added an Airport Express to the network (I wanted airtunes on the HIFI) set it up with the same password and name as the Airport Extreme to extend the wifi, both are on an ethernet network via a gigabyte switch and internet modem/router. During the process Airport Utilities was updated from 5.3.1 to 5.3.2 via Software update. The extreme was moved also to a new spot in the house.
The problem now, the Airport disk connected to the extreme doesn't show up anywhere. It doesn't mount and Airport Utilities doesn't even see the HD connected to the extreme. I can see both airport base stations in the Airport Utilities.
I've changed cables, tried different settings, I can't find my lost HD. I don't know how to fix the problem.
Can someone help me out, please.
    marc.

thanks for trying to help, but I'd done that already, but I tried it again anyway, you know, just incase, but the drive is still not showing up on the Airport.
I did notice though that the drive is formatted with a GUID Partition Table, would that be the problem since I'm still on a G4, not an Intel?????

  • Scratch Disk not where it should be

    Hi all,
I can't get my Scratch Disk to appear in the place I've selected in System Settings (i.e to my second internal hard drive called Video). Here's what I've done - can someone tell me where I've gone wrong?
    1. Chosen the new hard drive using the Set button in System Settings > Scratch Disk for Video Capture, Video Render and Audio Render
    2. Chosen the same hard drive using the Set button for Waveform Cache, Thumbnail Cache and Autosave Vault
In the Video hard drive, I now see folders for Autosave Vault, Thumbnail Cache Files and Waveforem Cache Files, but not the others. There is no folder called Final Cut Express Documents.
    Thanks heaps,
    Andrew

That's how mine is as mentioned. The system drive has the Final Cut Express Documants folder whereas the external does not. It should have one called capture scratch and that's where audio and video render files go as well. Everything else I keep on the system drive.

  • Mac Pro 4,1 w/RAID startup disk not showing

Just purchased used a 2009 Mac Pro which came without installation disks. The startup (and only) HD does not show on the desktop. I discovered that an Apple RAID card was installed and had one disk (the startup disk) connected to it. Apparently the startup disk had been part of a RAID from which all other disks had been removed. Can I simply remove the startup disk from the RAID and install it as a regular drive? Since I don't have the installation disks I don't want to experiment with it until I make a clone. As of now there is only the single drive installed in the system. The system seems to be fine as reported by Tech Tool Pro test suite, which indicated no problems with any component.
The battery on the RAID card needs charging but after several hours did not seem to be going anywhere. Can the battery be replaced?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Do either of you guys have an idea as to why the startup HD does not appear on the desktop? The battery no is indicating fully charged in RAID Utility but it's still conditioning, so I strongly suspect It needs replacement. Still, I'd like to solve this before pulling the card since I'm unfamiliar with the Mac Pro and if I can get things functioning nominally through menu operations so much the better.
There seems to be an anomaly in the RAID Utility setup since no "RAID SETS" nor "VOLUMES" are listed, but there is an HD icon labeled "Bay1" listed under "DRIVES" with State=JBOD, SMART=verified, Status=Good, Interface=SATA. It's a Western Digital Caviar. The RAID Utility help says that only a single drive can be RAID mode JBOD, but if this drive's status is JBOD doesn't that imply that a JBOD RAID set had to have been created before adding the drive to the set and thereby giving it JBOD status? IF this is so then the RAID set must have been intentioally deleted, or perhaps was auto deleted when other drives were pulled. I'm thinking that the drive does not show on the desktop because it still has status JBOD but it's RAID set is gone. Possible? If so, can I create a new JBOD RAID set and assign the drive to it without loosing the OS on the drive? Can I install a new drive without assigning it to a RAID set and then reinstall after pulling the card or will things get messed up if a disk that was once on the RAID card is reinstalled after the card is pulled?
    Thanks for any insights.

  • Disk not showing free space after deleting files?

Hi there. I'm running Mountain Lion 10.8.2. I deleted about 20GB worth of data from my hard drive but when I go into activity monitor and click on disk usage it doesn't show an extra 20GB of space. I did this 2 days ago. Is there something wrong with my hard drive? There is nothing in the trash and I have restarted my laptop twice now. Also, I use Daisy Disk to show my usage and it says the same thing as activity monitor. Thanks in advance!

“You may notice a difference in available space statistics between Disk Utility, Finder, and Get Info inspectors. This is expected and can be safely ignored. The Finder displays the available space on the disk without accounting for the local snapshots, because local snapshots will surrender their disk space if needed."

  • Firewire disk not showing up in save window.

    Hey all,
I recently upgraded to Snow Leopard and all seems to have been well until today when I realised my firewire drives aren't showing up in the 'save as' window.  However, the drives are showing up in the scratch drive list in the preferences.  At the moment I'm saving to my native hard drive and then transferring the files manually which is not particularly efficient.  Is anyone else having this issue and if so have you hit upon a solution?
    Matt

    Oh!
I've sorted out the issue now.  The solution may help others though.  In the 'save as' window I clicked on the drop down menu just below the file name entry field.  I selected the network name of my computer and the disks appeared in the list below.  I then dragged the disks over to the devices list on the left and there they now sit.
You may be able to drag them from the desktop too but I didn't try that.  Either way, problem solved!

  • XServe RAID disks not showing up in Disk Utility

I have a new (to me) xServe RAID box and I'm stuck, the stays lights are green the fiber link light is green on the RAID and not lit on the PCI card but shows up as green in the fiber link section of the settings tool but the RAID array doesn't show up in Disk Utility so I can't format the drives.
I set up the disks as Enhanced JBOD using RAIDadmin and I've deleted and created it a couple of times, I'm just not sure what else I should try, I've read the manual but. Can't find any suggestions of what's going wrong.
    Thanks

    Port 1: Link Established
    2Gps
    Point to point
    Status light green
In the system Profiler I'm not sure what you're asking for, I'm running 10.5.8 standard not server.
the fibre channel shows link established 2Gps and cable type copper but nothing else, the disks & RAID controller don't show up anywhere I've looked.
RAID Admin shows the JBOD disks as online and lists the LUNs etc.
System looks fine, only error is missing second power supply.

  • Startup Disks Not Showing

I'm running 10.4.11 on an iMac with one internal drive. I have 2 external firewire drives connected both with boot partitions running 10.3.8 so I can use NetRestore to clone our lab. The problem is that when I select "startup disk" from the system prefs only the internal drive shows up even though both of the external partitions are mounted. I tried this with a different external on a different computer and it still does not work. I do not know what is going on.

A couple more questions: what kind of external drives are you using?
How did you create the boot partitions and how did you prepare the disks?
