Scratch Removal Process !!

Okay, let's see if my postings get removed again .. hmmm. I want to find a way to minimize scratching without having to repolish every other day !! I would also like to know when is Apple planning to make available the ipod nano cases at their stores (man will they make alot of money doing that!!) .. nano tubes or anything other than the arm bands and socks .. jeezzzz

Displex I heard is good.
Brasso inexpensive and is supposed to work very well.
Radtech, doesn't work very well at all, I have a couple of bottles, don't use it
on the Nano Black model.

I have iClean by Monster and I think it created more scratches, it did get rid of smudges/fingerprints etc...

  • Dust & scratch removal

Is there a function in A3 for dust & scratch removal - NOT doing it manually, but over the entire photo or selected area? Or, is there a plug-in available, such as the dust removal one for Photoshop?

The problem with the PSE user interface is that it is a high-end painting/publishing/retouching tool (PS CS) with a complex menu & dialog box structure, upon which:
    * features have been removed wholesale (curves, scripting, etc.)
    * features have been removed partially (color management, etc.)
    * features have been added (Variations, Process Multiple Files) resulting in more menus, more modes
    * a completely independent application has been unceremoniously glued on (Organizer)
It is, in a word, a MESS.
As I've said before, the technology is great but the user interface is a disaster.
Honestly, I would leave PSE alone and sell it as a "painting" application. Then I'd come out with a new product designed for photographers/snapshooters. I would:
    1. take a 'light' version of Apple's Aperture
    2. add selections/masking [the nondestructive, resizable, Ansel Adams Zone-based selections/masks in LightCraft's LightZone are very cool!)
    3. add simple layers (maybe even the tool-specific layers as in LightZone)
    4. and then do usability testing. You know, clicking on text shouldn't just select the layer, it should allow you to edit the text. Jeez, how difficult is that for a consumer program?

  • Dust and Scratch Removal PSE 6 3rd Party Programs ?

I've currently got PSE 3.0, going to upgrade to PSE 6.0, but also looking for even better Dust and Scratch Removal than PSE 6.
    Any suggestions ?
    [email protected]

Yes, "Dust and Scratches" does work on PSE5. I've used this filter on the two pictures at: http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f244/cooper213/dustscratch.jpg
On the left is the original of a scan of a 40s snapshot. On the right is that image with one pass of the Dust and Scratches filter.
You can't just apply D&S without some experimenting with the Radius and Threshold. The higher the R & T, the more the noise is removed, but the more the image is blurred. I used a very low figure for both Radius and Threshold. I would not stop here with the editing process.
I'd use the Healing Brush tool to remove some of the remaining noise on the black coat. I'd do some sharpening, and possibly sharpen only the figures by creating a Selection so the clapboards on the house don't start to look wonky.

  • Removing process chain from schedule

    Hi Gurus
I have a very basic question, under what circumstances do we take a process chain out of schedule? Till now i was being asked to make occasional changes in Process chains and then revert them back later,i did this activity of changing(adding or removing processes) after removing process chain from schedule( i was asked to do that)...
Now i need to edit recipient list(add one recipient's name ) in alll the process chains where success and error messages are present.
I want to know whether i need to remove the chain from schedule before starting with this activity.
If one chain contains multipe individual chains and every individual chain contains messages,do i need to remove every chain from schedule and edit the recipient list....or this is not required and i can simply open individual chain containing messsages in edit mode and edit the recipient list and save the changes and follow the same for all chains?
    kindly help.

    Hi,
We would normally be asked to remove the process chains from schedule during any upgrade activities. or it can also be related to any particular flow - this is in case particular process chains are asked to be removed from schedule. This may be due to adding an intermediate step in between the flow or any such scenario.
And you can change the recipient list when the process chain is running also, because here you will not actually be editing the process chain but will be editing the "message" object. just click "edit message", save the message and come out, do not click save when you are in the process chain maintenance screen.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Joe

  • Scratch removal: Does Ps CS6 have a tool for that?  Or are there plugins?

Scanning old slides often shows large scratches and specks.  How can they be removed?
I use Photoshop CS6, does it contain tools for that?
    Or are there plugins?
What I'm looking for is a Scratch Removal tool like I find in Silverfast 8SE (have one bundled with my Canoscan 9000F scanner) called SDR (I don't mean the iSDR which used the sanner's ínfrared).
It automaticllay searches out scratches, marks them in red, lets you adjust how strongly it hunts for them, sizes etc.
Then when you like it, click to remove them.
    Very useful!
Two problems: it only works in conjunction with scanning, can't open an existing file.
And it only handles 8bit color depth.
I suppose full versions of Silverfast won't have these limitations, but that would mean quite an expense.
Since I have invested in Ps CS6 I'd want to keep to that.
Maybe I'm overlooking what's already in Ps?  Or in available plugins?
    Please help,
    Sverker

If you have huge numbers of them, Filter - Noise - Dust & Scratches right in Photoshop.  If they're always lighter than the surroundings (e.g., a negative scan that's been inverted), you can limit the effect with Edit - Fade - Darken afterward.
Or if you're willing to do some hand work, and ensure inadvertent things won't be changed, you can select  the Spot Healing Brush Tool, set it to Content Aware mode and just dab the spots.  Photoshop is pretty good at making up fill data.

  • What's a Great DVD Scratch Remover

Hi. Although I'm on Lion. I'd like to restore my OEM Snow Leopard Installer disk (Disk 1). It won't read anymore. I've tried things like toothpaste which usually works and a metal polisher but those didn't work for this dual layer.
What's a good brand of scratch remover? How do I restore it? It's good if I get to restore it so that when it's resold later (for an upgrade), everything's original and complete. I'll do my best to find it in the stores here.
    Thank you in advance.
    God bless.

Assuming these are commercial dvd/cd's and not your own for private burning, I recommend Novus Plastic Polishes.
Google "Novus Plastic Polishes for cd".
I haven't had to try on dvd/cd's as yet but I have an acrylic desktop surface and use it on minor scratches on that and the stuff actually works.

  • Recommended product for scratch removal?

I have the black 60GB 5th Gen Ipod. I have been using it for years, but by now my screen has become scuffed and scratched. I want to purchase a product to remove the scratches, and then a film or cover to protect it (the previous cover I had is what left the scratches over time), but I want to know what everyone recommends as the best products? Any suggestions?

    Hey there,
There are numerous products available for cleaning your iPod, but I have had great luck with PodShop iDrops. It is a cheap product, but requires a bit of work to remove scratches. Worth the effort in the end though. Here is a link to more information on it from amazon. I am not sure with protective cases though because I have never really had any luck any. For now, I just place a piece of the wider packaging tape over the front. It works great and keeps my iPod looking brand new. Hope this helps.

  • IPod Scratch Removal Success Story

in trying to pry the near impossible-to-remove Speck See-Thru case from my two-day old iPod with Video, having to use force and knowing the risk of potential scratching, i was horrified when, "POP," the case came off, only to leave behind a large, 1.5" gouge right across the upper right corner of the screen on.
my brand new iPod with Video. scratched. my heart sank.
so, i began the research into scratch removal products. most of the stuff i found online (iCleaner, iDrops, Ice Creme, etc) all claimed to do the job, but they were both expensive and i would have to wait. i wanted something quicker.
so, i ended up going to an auto parts retailer and purchasing a bottle of Mother's California Gold Scratch Remover, the same product used to remove scratches from cars, cars with clearcoating, fiberglass cars, and fiberglass boats. it cost under $5 (USD).
i also bought a $5 (USD) natural chamoise ("shammy") cloth. it's super-soft and again, used on a variety of cars, boats, etc.
within twenty minutes of set-up, actual application/buffing of the iPod, and cleanup, the gouge that scarred the iPod was completely gone. GONE.
leftover were some very, very faint swirl marks from using pressure when buffing. from everything i've read, this was totally common and normal, since the iPod's front is clear acrylic.
for me, it was a pricesless trade-off to have some barely noticable swirl marks versus the giant gouge on the screen.
today, i purchased a $3 (USD) metal polishing product at my local Lowe's hardware, called Brasso, which is raved about online as the do-it-all iPod cleaner. i will use this to shine-out the remaining swirls.
overall, very happy with the choice i made, and thought i'd share to possibly benefit someone else in the future. i hope this post was helpful!
    good luck.

sounds like a good trick! however, for the gouge i mentioned above, liquid soap didn't cut it for me. i tried several "home remedies" before reaching for the big guns. another trick i'd heard about (and yes, even tried) was Colgate's Whitening toothpaste. some folks will swear by it. all it did for my iPod was make it smell minty for a spell. hehe
thx for the tip, tho. i think all efforts are valuable.
i should add also, that i just ordered the Power Support Crystal film skins and the Agent 18 VideoShield case to protect the iPod in the future. i've used the ClickShield for my iPod Photo and it was the best investment.
    peace!

  • Scratch removal from glass screen.

Does anyone know how to remove scratch from the glass screen ???

If there was no screen-guard covering the glass, there is no way to get the scratches removed
You need to get a new housing for your phone which will include a new glass.

  • Scratch removal tool

For those of us who have large negative archives, a scratch removal tool would greatly reduce the trips to PS. I understand that the need for a scratch removal tool will diminish as the user base migrates to 100% digital, but we're still a long way that day.
    Thanks for your consideration.

  • IClear Screen Protector/ Scratch remover.

    Hello there,
I was wondering if anybody new if the iClear screen protector actually removes scratches on the iPod nano/video body?
If not, could anybody reccomend a scratch remover of some type?
    Thanks.

I doubt any screen protector actually removes scratches from the nano.
But to remove scratches you can use Brasso, Ice Cream, Toothpaste (not reccomended), Displex, and many more. Really if you're not sure which one to use you should check the internet for success stories. There was a really good success story with Brasso on the internet, which is good because it is only $4.

  • Iklear scratch remover on macbook?

    Hey guys,
Ive got a few scratches on the top of my macbook. Does anyone have this scratch remover? Also, does it work with the top of the macbook?
    https://store.klearscreen.com/productinfo.php?cPath=22&productsid=83&osCsid=78c290cdc0d3c687441190c6e51dad5f

There are acrylic buffer products designed to remove scratches from plastics, however I'm uncertain as to how well those products will work on the polycarbonate your mac is encased in. It's a gamble, but consult with Apple's technical support before you do anything.

  • Scratch Remover? Trade-in program for 60GB to 80GB before 30 days?

I was wondering if using using a scratch remover on my black ipod video will void my warranty....do they even work?
Also, I've only had my ipod since the first of september...trade-in program?
And, can I clear out itunes but keep all the stuff in my ipod? My ipod holds like 6 times the memory of my ibook....
    Much obliged

        Hi there DSHanson,
This certainly is something that would be enticing to stay for sure. The promotion did expire on the 15th of October, so I am unsure why a representative of ours would offer the promotion to be "extended". I would like to take a closer look into this. I am going to send you a Private Message and see if I am able to find that chat. Keep your eyes peeled for that! Thanks.
