Scratches, AM I Covered

If I have a couple of really big scratches on my screen, that blog me from seeing will apple do a repair? And I still have more than 2 years left on Apple Care. Would the repair be covered, if I bring it to the Apple store. IfI have an appointment at the apple store with a genius am i still covered?

Only apple can say for sure, but scratches are usually not covered. You should take into an apple store and have them look at it. Applecare doesn't cover accidental damage. But as I said only apple can tell you for sure. Who knows you might get lucky.

  • Can i exchange my iphone 4 for a new iphone 4 ... my old one has some scratches on the side and i would be willing to pay extra for the phone as long as the plan stays

my iphone which i got last summer has some scratches on the side (but no damages internally) and i was wondering if i could buy a newer iphone 4 by paying a little extra?

Apple does not offer an exchange program.
Physical damage (scratches) are not covered under the warranty.
If you desire a blemish free iPhone, buy a new one at full price then sell your current one to recoup some of the costs.

  • About connecting an ipod to home audio system+scratches

i have sony CMT-HPZ9 micro system at home and trying to connect the ipod to it, and it says that i need a 2.5mm jack. What kind of cable do i need to connect them...?
and also, there were some scratches on the back of the ipod when i bought it 2 days ago and was wondering if scratches are common on ipods. If it is not common i was thinking about exchanging it for a new one;;.
    well
    thanks

    1) Go to your local electronics store 1 that sell ipods like best buy. Ask for a easy solution to conect your ipod to your home stereo. THat will mostl likely give you the needed cables you need i know that griffin technology sell 1.
    http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/ipodcablekit/index.php
2)Scratches occur on the ipod adn on any ipod for that fact. retuening the ipod just because of scratches is foolish. Scratches is not covered under the warranty of the ipod because it is not cause from faulty equipment. The best solution is to try and use a solutuion like brasso or ice kremem to remove the scratches.Brasso is probably the bst for the back of the ipod. SEARCH online before trying this on how to remove thre scratches!
Then get a good case for the ipod because of the tendency to scratch like this case.

and it would ehlp to have a clear film to protect the front of the ipod too ASAP.

  • The Scientific Scratch Test

I have read all the posts, seen all the pictures and used a nano. This will hopefully give everyone something to think about......
The test..... rubbing the item against stubble.....
    Test 1.
    An apple wireless mouse.
Result = No marks or scratches.
    Test 2.
    A Sony K750i Mobile Phone
Result = No marks or scratches.
    Test 3.
    Apple iPod 4th Gen
Result = No marks or scratches.
    Test 4.
    Apple iPod Nano
    Result = Scratches appear.
Ok.... so it's a scientific test, however it does prove that the surface of this item is obviously not as "tough" as other plastics available on the market or ones Apple have used in the past.
The only way to avoid this is to use a case, however did Steve Jobs not pull this item from his Jeans pocket during the demonstration and launch?
In summary, it would be nice for Apple to comment on this in some way, I doubt however this will happen. Great product, shame about the materials used in it's construction.
If you are really bothered about the scratches, keep it covered at all times, if not live with it.
I had hoped for more from Apple.

  • Ipad 3 scratches/cracks Smart Cover

    Hi ,
I have had my ipad since October and noticed a small crack on the screen. Today I looked again and it is getting bigger ! I am very very careful with my ipad and have the Smart Cover on it 24/7.
Can the smart covers cause scratches on the ipad ? And is small scratches/cracks covered in the warranty?
    Cheers Josh

I am afraid cracks and scratches is not covered by the warranty.

  • Two questions, touchy touchpad and case maintenance

I noticed this morning that the touchpad is a bit iffy when I'm trying to move around or do two finger it randomly interprets one finger as if i had two on it.
The other odd issue with the touchpad is the click action no longer actually "clicks." It seems I just graze the button and it registers.
Obviously this is broken and needs to be replaced but how long would a fix like this take? Seeing as I need the laptop and use the laptop every single day for school work roughly how long would I be out of a laptop?
The other question is, is there a way to replace the shell with a new one? This one has a lot of scratches and little dents from heavy daily use. ***** to ugly up such a beautiful laptop.

"Seeing as I need the laptop and use the laptop every single day for school work roughly how long would I be out of a laptop?"
When I had to send mine in for a replacement of the hinge assembly as the left one wasn't latching quite right it was gone for 2 days. I think turn-around is fairly good with Apple, but I understand that when you use it heavily day in and day out those days can seem like weeks.

Bumps and scratches aren't covered under warranty so I don't know of any really cost effective way to get the shell replaced. You didn't mention what size MBP you had. If it is a 15.4" model you might want to look at one of the (*)Speck Hard Shell's to cover it and protect it from further damage.

    Rajkamal,
I would recommend you work through the following tutorial on how to build an Agentry application from scratch.  It covers creating a BAPI to retrieve data from the SAP backend to Agentry.

  • Owns IPhone4S, got "drown" during typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan 11/2013); doesn't work anymore but unit still looks brand new, what to do?

I have an iPhone unit - Iphone 4S, had it since 2012 through a local telecommunications provider (Globe Phils). My unit which has a 16G memory was running on IOS 7. When typhoon Yolanda struck our city (Tacloban) my iPhone 42 was one among the "casualty". I couldn't save it on time when sea water rushed into our house, taking my family by surprise. I was using my iPhone 4s to monitor news and weather update at that time. When the power in our place went out, i unconsciously put the unit on top of our dining table, unaware that the storm surge will reach our place (about 5km from the city proper but about a km from the nearest shoreline). While the water was still chest high i remember my phone and tried searching for it. i used my feet/toes literally to find it on the ground (floor) until i finally reached for it in one of the rooms downstairs. When i finally got hold of it, it was really, really soak in water and mud (yes the water was muddy, learning later on that it was sea water that drown some of the houses in our city).
I sun dried it immediately. I tried having it repaired in Manila after about two weeks since the storm, but the repair center said that it was beyond repair.
My iPhone 4S looks good as new, no scratch whatsoever (i covered it with skin in all the time i was using it until Yolanda came). yet it doesn't work. A said reality.
What should i do with the unit? I have already a new unit iPhone 6+.
Anticipating a prompt reply. Thank you and more power.
    Ms. Valuis

There really isn't much to say. Water damage isn't covered by Apple's warranties.
Total submersion in muddy seawater will cause the components to corrode terribly. It needed to be flushed out before the seawater had any chance to dry - the salts & impurities are what corrode the components. Washing in pure clean water may have helped at the time but 2 years after the event is far too long to expect that to work.
The repair centre are probably correct - it is dead & it would be simper to replace the entire unit, sorry.
Did you have backups in iCloud or iTunes? If those are safe you can restore the data to another device, otherwise that will be unreadable on the device.
Your only option would be to contact your insurance company or possibly the company that you purchased it from but I expect typhoons may not be covered by many insurance policies or warranties.
I hope you are getting back to normal after this terrible event, good luck.

  • My number disappeared on itunes gift card

When I scratched the material covering my code number on my gift card the number underneath was unreadable. How to I redeem my $15 gift card?
    HP Pavilion   Windows XP

Don't waste time calling Apple tech support; they can't help with ITMS issues. Go to this web page and look about half-way down the page for the item titled "I accidentally scratched off the activation code.". That'll tell you what you need to do if the store from which you purchased the card can't help you.

  • I recently managed to get the whole casing of my 13" Macbook Pro (Mid-2009) replaced due to a missing foot and dodgy spacebar. The lid is dented and scratched so would like to know how much it would cost to replace? I know its not covered by AppleCare.

So i took my Macbook Pro 13'' (Mid-2009) into Apple because the spacebar was jammed and I had one of the feet of the bottom casing missing which was unusual (black circles). The unibody and bottom plate had a fair few dents and nicks and under AppleCare I was able to get the whole unibody and bottom case fixed for free. Saved myself a good £181!
This now leaves my lid which has one or two noticeable dents and the bottom right part is suffering from several scratches. I was wondering how much a new lid would cost if I took it into Apple? I know it won't be covered under AppleCare as its accidental damage but want to know whether its worth paying for to have a once again dent free Macbook Pro .
As a side note, do Apple upgrade your hardware at all, such as the hard drive or memory? I know it would be cheaper to do it at an independant computer shop or by myself but would like to explore my options first.

Call Apple Care and ask them if your computer is still under warranty.
