Hello.I have purchased a black 32gb iPhone 4 just two days back.Yesterday while putting my phone on charge,I noticed a deep thin scratch on the antenna in a straight line starting from the charging point to the speakers. Is it a manufacturing fault? The scratch is quiet strange. It's a thin straight line, which I initially mistook to be a design. Can anyone tell me what it is?

All warranty issues including manufacturing defects, are determined and handled by the Apple Genius. If your iPhone has any problem, contact Apple and they will solve the issue.
"deep thin scratch on the antenna in a straight line starting from the charging point to the speakers"..... The only thing between the charging port and the speakers is a small screw on both sides of the port?

  • Scratch on iphone 4 antenna gate

    hi everyone,
this is my second time posting a topic here. what i want to ask u all is, if there is a scratch on the antenna gate, will it effect the performance of the phone? like the signal or the wifi? i have one small scratch near the sim card slot though.. Please help me here. will really appreciate it. thanks.
    Henry

i really like the way u answer. really. lol. the reason that i think it will affect the reception is because, the metal band work as antenna for the phone, wifi, bluetooth. and, its outside the phone. left unprotected. i just imagine if the band is damaged, the phone reception will be messed up. i remember in high school, my chemistry teacher ever told me that if there's a scracth in a metal, and there is a liquid drop into it. the metal will rust. just scared, somebody with wet hands touch my phone and the thing will get rusty. LOL. thats what i think. now, u tell me why the reason it wont affect the reception. anyway, thanks for replying allan.. really appreciate it

  • Scratch on Iphone 6

    Dear Sir,
I have purchased my first apple device in form of I-phone 6 last year Nov-2014, Note that i never used screen protector in my old phone (Samsung Galaxy S2) and my expectation was too high from apple device, hence not used screen protector on phone. (I used very carefully my device).
After using of phone for a month, i saw lots of minor scratches on Iphone 6, now i don't know what to do.
Please advice me what to do in this regard.
    Thanks

The only thing I can suggest is a case

  • Is there any way to remove scratches of iphone 5 back and sides ?

Is there any way to remove scratches of iphone 5 back and sides ?

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $149. They do not fix yours. I would say not worth it.
      Apple - iPod Repair price
If they are on the screen I know of no way to remove them
If they are on the case then removing the scratches would also remove the coloring. I would get a case and hide them if the scratches are on the case.

  • Best way to remove scratches from iPhone 6?

I'm one picky bugger. I had to return my iPhone 6 and get a replacement from the store and unfortunately, there's a small scratch on the screen. I've been there 2 times and it's 1 hour away...and I think everyone will think I'm absolutely bonkers to want to replace the entire phone due to a scratch that you can only see if the light shines on the phone a certain way lol.
Anyway, I'm looking for any solution to fixing a really small glass scratch on my phone. I've seen some reports of optical cloths but I can't seem to find any place that has 'em.  Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Brandon Q.

hi i too had this problem but mines was a small scratch on the iphone 6 body,

  • Are there any IPhone antenna signal booster available

    Hi,
We have two iphones in our family. The problem is that usually we have VERY poor signal strength in our house. I've gone to ATT's site to check out coverage (they have a map of signal strength by geographical location on their site) and sure enough, we live in a zone with poor signal strength. If we lived a block away, in any direction, from where we live now, we'd have great signal strength available. Sometimes we have good signal strength, but those times are few and far between, and the number of bars showing signal strength often changes right before our eyes.
We love the phones, but they are of little use to us while at home. So ... we wondered if there is a solution out there for us. Are there signal boosters, or something like that, which might help us out?
If there are, where would we look for one? Would we need a special kind?

Sorry, no feedback on this yet. I was hoping someone else would have already tried a booster or repeater or whatever they are, and post a comment about them here. We went to the ATT store in Pismo Beach and stood there for fifteen minutes waiting for someone to help us and then left. Two doors down there is a Radio Shack, and although these antennas are listed in their online catalog, the two guys who were working there didn't have a clue. Actually, Radio Shack was kind of a funny experience because one of the guys just said "we don't have any" and then just walked away from us to return to the movie he was watching on the large screen TV across the store. I swear!
Then, we went to another ATT store located on the south side of Santa Maria and we finally got a guy who not only knew what we were talking about, but was actually helpful. Though they didn't have any antennas for us at the store, he discussed the effectiveness of antennas with us, and was truthful enough to tell us that the information he was relating to us was just information he had heard from his friends, but that he had no personal experience with using these antennas.
Anyway, one of the posts at the top of this thread lists a site to check out, and it seems to have most of the brands we heard about in our search. It appears that they run in the neighborhood of $300 for a good one, and you can spend up to about $1,000 for one of the best models available.
I think we're going to spring for one of the $300 models and see if it works for us, but probably not until next week.
Sure seems like a lot of $$$ for phone service. I don't blame Apple for this at all. It just seems like ATT ought to provide better service, either through more towers or some other way. That's just mho.

  • Any idea when we will see units new out of the box without a scratch on iPhone 5?

Any idea when we will see units new out of the box without a scratch?  I was out at Apple to pick up my iPhone 5 in black on Oct 12th.   I opened the box in front of an Apple technician and there was a scratch on the edge.  So I told her I didn't want a scratched iPhone.  So she returned and brought out another phone.   Well, she couldn't get it to a accept the new iPhone because there's a 24hr waiting period when you make a return.  This is Verizon's policy, but of course we didn't find out until 2.5hrs later.
So she says you'll have to return but we will hold this phone for you.  I was disappointed after being there for a total of 3.5hrs and no iPhone.   I returned on Saturday hoping the next iPhone didn't have a scratch.   I opened the box and there was a scratch!   I live 40 minutes from these store, so it's not close.
I have an iPhone 4 that's in excellent condition!  I don't want a new iPhone 5 with a scratch, unless its a scratch caused by me.

We're users here.  Why would you ask a question here that no one can answer?  Are you impaired in some way intellectually?

  • Scratched the iPhone 4 screen with a rock, now I have rainbow lines

So I had the iPhone 4 in the same pocket with a rock, don't ask why. A few mins later, I horrifically realized this, and took the iPhone out. My worst fear had been realized, as it had scratches all along the lower part of the screen. Now, when the screen is on and I'm looking at something which is one or two colors, I can see rainbow lines caused by the scratches. They are really bothersome, and they are making me real sad.
So what should I do? Anyone got a solution? Or am I screwed?
    Thanks!

There is one risk. Apple may not replace the glass at no cost.
They can still replace scratched material for you on the TOS guideline.
Read section b II of the contract where they don't enlist in self help repair service or non apple service work done. It also says no accidents but don't say that.

  • My take on the iPhone antenna issue

I'll start off by saying I own a 3GS, don't own a 4, have seen one a friend has and know a few friends that have them.
I've had other products (like a knife) that have an optional guard. You can leave it off and "be careful" or you can put it on and have the item be somewhat less attractive. This is my personal take on Apple's reasoning.
You definitely would not want to increase the size of the iPhone by building in a case, because a third part might make a case that, say, was also a checkbook case. So it makes sense for the iPhone to be bare bones, and you have the option of adding a case if you want one.
The mistake, as I see it, was in Apple not including a bumper with the iPhone, +and having the bumper already be on the iPhone when you took it out of the box.+
Had they done this, IMO there would have been no complaints at all.

I agree the bumpers should have been free and included.
The antenna issue though is very subjective. Steve is right. I have seen every phone i have owned drop bar level depending on how i hold it. This one is more pronounced because we can touch the antenna, usually a radio no no. The idea of the external antenna integrated with the case is quite cool. I use my iP4 in a very fringe area and haven't had it drop a call due to lost signal. In fact it is better than my 3G i replaced. It is better with the bumper. So what happened? Apple took a risk and designed something new. Then Steve hyped it up into the stratosphere. Raised expectation of perfection. It isn't perfect and all the nay sayers had something quite real to pick on. Now here we are.
This phone is an amazing device. Very fast an powerful and the camera is really good. It has a few color issues but nothing that can't be fixed in any photo editor. The result is great photos capture with a cell phone. The video is great as is the recorded sound. Quite usable.
So it has a few quirks, well worth all the positives in my opinion.

  • Can anyone tell me if a body glove defender NBR protector scratch my iPhone 4s?

I'm bought a iphone 4s and a body glove NBR protector cover for my phone. I'm just wondering can that kind of cover scratch my phone??

It depends on if your carrier allows it or not.
Look for the Personal Hotspot Option in Settings->Network

  • How to eliminate scratches on iphone screen

I sadly left my iphone fall unprotected on the floor. As a result it got a few scratches on the screen surface which I'd really love to get rid of. Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Cledson

Replace the phone. $199. There are independent shops who will replace the screen, and you can even get kits to do it, but either of these will void your warranty (if any). don't go the kit route unless you are experienced with working with microelectronics.

  • Scratches on iPhone screen

My iPhone has a number of small but visible scratches on the screen. Anyone had any success in getting rid of such scratches?
    Thanks.

I got a new iPhone this week...beautiful. I am wondering now, just how fragile is the screen, when it comes to scratches? I have no problem buying a case of sorts, but I don't want to interfere with the sensitivity of the screen. If th screen is actually quite rigid and resists scratches, I'd prefer to pass on the case with a screen cover.
I had a Blackberry Storm before, did buy an "invisible shield" for it, and it was fine. But then I attended a demo where a guy actually ran his set of keys across the screen, with no damage. So, for the iPhone in particular, are all these sceen protector salespeople just trying to encourage us to part with our dollars, or will I egret not protecting the screen? Thoughts?

  • Will a diamond earring scratch the iphone 6 glass?

I just got my new Iphone 6 Plus and I use a pave diamond earrings.  I just noticed that my iphone 6 plus' glass is scratched right where my earring hits it.
I thought the glass of the new iphones were scratch proof.  Please let me know if anyone else has had this problem.
    Thank you,

Thank you for your quick reply!  Needless to say, I am not happy with the scratches on my brand new phone....  I could have sworn that I have seen You Tube Videos of the Iphone 6 and 6 Plus being scratched with a knife, a set of keys and dragged through rocks and scratched with a brick and the glass did not scratch.  Isn't it supposed to be scratch resistant??  I will definitely take it back to my local apple store to see if they will exchange it.  Next time I will get a Zagg Glass protector so it doesn't happen again!
    Thank you for your feedback!

  • Scratched my iPhone

I'm a new iPhone user. I always have my case on, but the one time I took it off, I dropped it and scuffed up the bezel. This IS NOT my picture but it looks something like this:
It's not the end of the world, but it still doesn't look good. I have AppleCare on it. If I take it into the Apple store, what can they do for me? Can they give me a brand new phone of the same model/storage? Will it cost anything?
    Thanks.

Will it look/feel exactly like a brand new phone? Also since $50 isn't cheap, could I wait until I get a bunch more scratches and then take it in? What about if I crack the screen, would they treat it any differently than a scratch here or there?
    Thanks a lot.
