Scratches on my iPad Air?

I have these scratches on my IPad air that I think I got from using a Adonit Jot pro stylus. It freaks me out so bad because I've never had scratches on anything else, and I have a android tablet with no scratches, android smartphone with no scratches and an iPod touch 5th generation which I've had for 2 year with no scratches. You can't see them if you look directly but if you turn it (when the screen has been cleaned) you can clearly see them they don't indent the screen but I can see them and I'm worried that if I ever drop it that it would shatter because of them, I hope it isn't anything serious because I don't have the money to replace the screen and I absolutely HATE screen protectors and only if he's absolutely mandatory that I would EVER Get a screen protector..so what are your thoughts guys?

You hate screen protectors and can't abide by scratches. If the Adonit Jot scratched the screen of your iPad, it's hard to figure what would remedy the issue - except a screen protector, which you hate. You've backed yourself into a corner on that one.
I only see a few options (which you have do doubt considered):
1. Get a new iPad screen - about $100+, before installation; install isn't easy
2. Get a new iPad - you know the price on these
3. Get a screen protector - and here's my question: Why are you so absolutely opposed to getting a screen protector? Are you aware that, with a good installation, a screen protector is completely invisible?
4. Deal wtih it - a scratched screen won't crack or shatter any differently than a new one. This is the cheapest solution.
Also, be sure to sell the Adonit Jot on eBay. It's unmatched for fineness of line, but I'd only get one if it came with a screen protector.
Post with your thoughts. I'm sure you aren't the first to ask.

  • Replacement iPad Air came scratched on the back

I recently found a dead pixel on my new iPad Air that I bought at Target on Black Friday so I scheduled a genius appointment and had it swapped out for one with a good display. Upon getting home and inspecting it a bit, I noticed that the back of the iPad had minor scratches along the edges. You can imagine my disappointment. I rescheduled an appointment at the Genius Bar but I have a feeling that they're going to tell me that they don't cover cosmetic blemishes even though that's literally how they gave it to me. I guess I got overly confident in apples quality control only to end up with this situation. Does anyone know if they'll be willing to swap out the scratched unit that I received?

I don't know - you'll have to find out from Apple.
I am not speaking for Apple - but here's one question I would ask myself if I were in the same circumstance:
Did you get a brand new iPad as a replacement unit, or a refurbished one?

  • Does the ipad air scratch easily ?

I have the new ipad air and I was wondering does it scratch easily just of typing from the on screen keyboard.  I want to know because I am tempted to buy a screen protector just in case I accidentally scratch while typing essays.
If anyone has any advice or experience on this issue it would be greatly appreciated.
    Many Thanks.

I've been using an iPad air since the forte day of its availability. I do not think it scratches easily. Whether or not to use a screen protector might depend on where and how you use your iPad. With normal home type use I do not think a screen protector is advisable. But if you use your iPad in dusty dirty work environments then I would consider using a screen protector and a heavy duty case.

  • Smart Cover scratched my iPad Air screen

Has anyone else had the Smart Cover scratch their iPad Air screen?  I am very careful with my iPad, and the scratch was not there yesterday.  I use the Smart Cover.  It really is not a smart design to have the part of the cover that goes against the screen be the same part that sits on the desk or where ever the iPad is being placed.  I have tried flipping the cover the other way, but the magnet does not hold and it falls over any time I try touch the screen.  I use my iPad for work, so I have it sitting upright most of my day.  This is really frustrating.  While I have the Apple Care, I do not want to have to pay $100 to get the screen replaced.  It's a small scratch, but it's very visible, particularly when typing notes/documents/emails.  I overpaid to have an Apple-brand cover, just because I thought this would be the safest thing for my iPad.  I am thoroughly disappointed.  Now my $930 iPad is permanently damaged.

Has anyone else had the Smart Cover scratch their iPad Air screen?
I have the smart case, basically the same as the cover, and have yet to experience a scratch in over three years of use.
I do not want to have to pay $100 to get the screen replaced.
If it bothers you, you don't have much choice. Isn't that part of the reason you bought Applecare+?
I overpaid to have an Apple-brand cover, just because I thought this would be the safest thing for my iPad.
You did not overpay, you paid what Apple charged. No cover is going to protect 100% of the device. The scratch could have come from anything besides the cover. Any cover is better than no cover.
Now my $930 iPad is permanently damaged.
Uh, no. You can have the device replaced with a refurbished model. New case, battery and screen. To get the device replaced is only 10% of the cost of a new device. Use your Applecare+ for what it was intended. Otherwise you paid more for Applecare+ than you did for the cover yet complain about the price of the cover.

  • TS1702 PrintDirect Application Upgrade does not reauthenticate on iPad Air.

    Hi
    Can anyone assist me please.
I purchased the PrintDirect Application for both my iphone 5S and new ipad air, both are running latest IOS software. The app. is downloaded first as a free app, then with purchase of an in-app upgrade to obtain full features. On the iphone 5S all is fine, on the ipad air the upgrade is not reauthenticating. By that I mean that when the upgrade is first downloaded, all is fine. After closing the app and re-starting the upgrade is stated as installed but does not function. if i download again for free, the app works correctly......until I close it and try to start again. The only way I can get it to work is to download the update again each time I wish to use it. I have tried deleting and re-installing from scratch, turning ipad off/on, etc, but no change.
App providers have not been able to help, suggest I contact itunes, waiting on call.
has anyone else had this problem with this app or others.
    thanks

  • IPad Air 2 won't connect to exchange emails

Hello, I've recently purchased an iPad Air 2 WiFi model. Everything transferred from my iCloud backup from my iPad mini except for 2 of my exchange email addresses I use for work. The emails work everywhere, in my iMac and iPhone 6. I've tried deleted the accounts and setup from scratch, and it looks like it sets up successfully but when I go to the mail app, it shows the inbox but nothing else comes in.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

    Hi Ya'll,
I finally worked out why we don't receive Webmail.
Webmail is restricted to a maximun of 10 partnerships with mobile appliances. Hence, just because you change iPads/iPhones etc., it does not automatically delete these on its server. So if you upgrade  from an iPhone 5s to a iPhone6 or an Air 1 to an Air 2, that does not automatically delete the old appliance.
So here is the message that I got from Webmail:
You have 10 phone partnerships out of the maximum allowed 10 partnerships. After you reach the maximum, you can't create additional partnerships until you delete existing ones from your account. To do so, sign in to Outlook Web App, click Options > Phone > Mobile Phones, and delete any unused partnerships.
If you follow these steps, it should all work just fine.
    thanks,
    Gunaroo

  • Looking to sell my iPad Air - 16GB - CHEAP

So i recently purchased the new MacBook on my Amex at 0% interest  And I really dont have use for my Ipad Air now. Ive had it about a year and love it. Basically used it for netflix and web surfing. I have the original box and its been in an otterbox style case from day one. Afraid to take it out cause Im really anal about stuff being perfect. No scratches, scuffs, marks etc. 100 percent flawless. It comes with orginal box as well. Its a 16GB space grey WIFI only model. I does not have the orginal charger. I think I let a friend borrow it so Ive just being using my iphone charger.  The price is $260 paypal gift only please. It will ship from CLT NC via USPS with tracking. Please PM me with questions. The cheapest I found one Ebay was $259 but it now but it was scuffed and scratched. PM me and I can email pics and more details. Just looking to get rid of it as I dont use it anymore.  MODs - I checked rules and guidelines. I think this is allowed.

I'd suggest Amazon as your shopping area. Even if you don't buy from them they have the best selection anywhere. You just need to look for an Air case, as you've learned, the slight differences in sizes in the devices means folks have to really pay attention or make sure the measurements match what they need.

  • What is the best way to cover or clean up a scuff on an iPad Air Space Gray?

Just scratched it. Any way to clean or cover or fill in the scuff on the side of the iPad Air Space Gray?

Even if I bought a case it wouldn't remove or fill in the scuff. There's absoultely no way to do that?

  • What is the best stylus to use with the iPad Air?

I'm looking for a stylus to use for the iPad Air to use for sketching and just simple note taking And from the reviews I've read it sounded like the Adonit Jot Pro for 29.99 seemed like a good deal to use for the iPad Air. I'm also a worrywart about if it will harm the screen? So I'm looking for someone's review with their experience using "The Adonit Jot Pro on the iPad Air." Thanks so much For your time and review!

I've never had a problem with it. I like it a lot for writing. I like the very fine point. I don't know as it's a great stylus for sketching, though. I tend to do most of my sketching in the app Paper with their Pencil stylus.
When using any stylus, it's good practice to make sure there are no bits of grit on the screen before using. If they should become trapped between the stylus tip and the screen, you could get scratches.

  • IPad Air case causing problems

My brand new Apple case keeps shutting down my brand new iPad Air as the case presses on the switch. The opening in the case where the lightning cable is plugged in is also badly aligned and I have to fiddle with the case to get the lightning cable to engage. Is anyone else experiencing problems like this?

I bought my iPad Air and decided I needed a case on it FAST. I looked at dozens of cases/covers online from a variety of sources. It's super expensive, but I kept coming back to the genuine Apple iPad Air case. Bought one and it works flawlessly. All of the attachment holes line up (speakers, mics, headphone and Lightning jacks, camera, etc) and the iPad fits securely. Cover closes perfectly and the fit, finish and materials quality is what I was expecting from Apple.
Hated spending that much on a case but after spending $499 + tax on an iPad, I only wanted the best case to protect it. Easier to use and enjoy this super thin, light and fast iPad when it's protected from dirt, grime, scratches and dents. Hopefully in a fall but hope that doesn't happen. It's a personal decision and you'll need to go with whatever makes you the happiest...

  • Case, cover, or bare- which way for the iPad Air?

Love the iPad Air-- light, fast, elegant, and fun!
Like the look of it, though I am concerned about the smooth back and the possibility of a drop; and the exposed front and back potentially leading to scratches by setting it down!
So, tried a wonderful, light, inexpensive, well constructed case by Fintie (have one on my iPad Mini and it works great!).  The iPad Air version is only slightly over 7 ounces, but with the Air in it, the Air no longer seems so light, airy, and appealing!
I'm thinking that I need a combination of a light "smart cover" with a thin clear, see-through vinyl, scratch-protecting sheet for the back.  That way, the Air'll have some protection from scratches and screen damage, but it could also leave its "docking" station (i.e., take off the cover).
Any recommendations for such combos?  Do they even exist?

Well, I may have found one... there was a sizing problem, but it seems they've fixed that.  Anyone here tried it?

  • Can I remove scuff marks my ipad cover made on my ipad air screen?

I just got an ipad air 2 and logitech keyboard case. I have only had it for a month and the ipad screen is scuffed/scratched. I had an ipad 2 for 5 years and the screen held up pretty well. Does anyone know if there is a way to remove the scuffs or scratches, or is there any recourse with logitech? Very disappointed

Another cleaner that Apple recommends and sells in their own stores is called Whoosh!. I use this product and can say that it's the best I have ever used. But it's only meant to clean the screen and leave a nano-thin protective coating, not to remove any physical damage that may have occurred.
Are you positive it's indeed "scuffed and scratched"? Maye it needs to be cleaned? I know that screen covers will leave residue from the cover itself on the screen after use which will build up over time. If it's truly scuffed/scratched, whatever damage happened to your screen should be taken up with Logitech.

  • IPad Air woes

So...I bought an iPad Air in November and for the first time, I'm not so sure I bought the right tablet (and I'm a diehard Apple guy).
This unit has a small blemish under the glass that I occasionally see and annoys me.  The rocker switch, set to lock/unlock rotation, is a tad loose; if I push on it a little (push in) it will switch between locked and unlocked.  These may be just me being picky, but the iOS issues I'm experiencing are driving my real concerns here.  I'm running the latest iOS and I see occasional "resets" when using Safari and Mail; also, Safari sometimes just closes while I am viewing a site.
I've read elsewhere that iOS7 isn't as great as we all had hoped (seems like there have been a lot of complaints), so I've been holding off on returning the unit to Apple.  Is anyone else experiencing regular issues with the OS or default tools (like Safari and Mail)?  I'm wondering if I have a hardware issue or a software issue at this point.

Have you backed up your device to iCloud or iTunes? If so it may well be worth going to Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content And Settings and instead of using the Restore option setup as a new iPad.  Once done just try browsing some pages in Safari and seeing how you go, if all ok, try setting up your mail etc and seeing how that goes.
If all appears to be working okay, you can try restoring, simply repeat the steps above but choose the restore option this time around.  If you find issues are back once you've restored then the issue is likely to be 'contained' within your backup and you will either need to start thing from scratch which is a pain, but at least you will have narrowed down the issue somewhat.

    Steve

  • IPad Air sound enhancer

I hate that the speakers face back. On my iPad 2 I bought a cheap disc like enhancer to send the sound forwards, but you can't get one for the iPad Air in the UK. I've made one using a soft plastic iPhone 4 case. I cut it to size and manage with that. But does anyone know of a good looking one? I know of the Stereoamp 180 but it's expensive here.

I have the same problem with my iPad Air 1. I also have an iPad Air 2 without this problem. I started the iPad Air 2 from scratch and started reloading all my apps (about 1400 of them). I discovered that about three of my Apps caused the sound to drop dead, so then I knew what the problem was on the iPad Air 1. So I did a lot of checking and discovered that the Apps messed up the operating system in Air 1. The only way to fix the problem was to Restore the iPad Air 1 to the way it came from the factory and then reload all my Apps except the three bad ones. This solved the sound problem and also other problems that were caused by the three bad Apps. Many iPad problems arise from bad Apps. Once an App ruins a part of the Operating System, the ONLY way to fix it is by Restoring the device and loading in all your Apps again except the bad ones. Finding out which ones are bad requires a second iPad that you test the Apps on by loading in one at a time and using them until you have a problem. Many of the problems people have that can't be fixed is because an App has somehow messed up a part of the operating system. This happens when a bad App crashes. The only way to fix these errors is to do what I have done. It's a big job to say the least. If there is an easier way, someone please tell me because I've tried just about every way and this is the ONLY way it works on impossible problems.
