Scratchy sound in lumia 720 during call

I have bought brand new Lumia 720 two weeks back. Everything is perfect except I used to hear scratching sound while speaking. Signal strength having no problem. Otherside person can hear me crystal clear. No call drop happening. My Lumia is amber udated.
if I use head set or Bluetooth, soound is clear and crisp. I have cut the mini sim to micro sim. Is this because of that or any hardware or software defect. Please suggest

In my case It gives scratchy sounds if there is a background noice in the background of person with iam speaking through out the call ..other wise sometimes it will give .i tried with other carriers micro sim also.Today I visit the nokia care and gave the handset for the ear piece replacement.

Sounds like the sound works sometimes and then stops. So since it only affects some application and not everything it may be a software issue.

Big issue with Nokia Lumia 720, people calling can't hear a thing.
It has been 9 days since I raised this request and a month since I first turned my phone in for service. Completely frustrated with your service. I demand that you take back the phone and refund and compensate me for the inconvenience you have caused me.

I purchased a new Nokia Lumia 720(Serial No: 357297054233805) from Croma in Bengaluru a couple of months back. Within two months of purchasing the phone, there was an issue with the ringer. When someone called, I would hear no ringing at all. When I played music on the speakers, there was no sound. I didn't expect this in the least from such an expensive Nokia phone.
When I gave the phone to Nokia Care centre in Bengaluru (Ms Silk Technologies Marathalli), they fixed the ringer the next day, but managed to get scratches on the back panel and introduced an issue with the volume controls. Now even when I reduced volume to 0 sometimes I could still hear the music play on the speakers or headphone. After having waited an hour and a half, they asked me to leave the phone with them saying they will replace the back panel and fix the volume issues.
I had to go back multiple times to Nokia care, leaving my phone and being without a replacement handset for days.
I had called the Nokia contact centre number and raised an issue and requested that you replace the handset. However after days of patient waiting, the response from you was dismal.
Ms Silk Technologies (Nokia care) called me the other day to inform that the phone was fixed again. They couldn't tell me what had gone wrong or how the issues were fixed. They simply said the volume issue is fixed and the back panel is replaced.
When I reached the centre, I had to wait for an hour again before they handed me the phone.
They had replaced the volume panel to fix the volume issue.
However, instead of replacing the back panel, they had replaced the touch screen instead!!!
Why replace a good, original working touch screen???????
They then asked me to wait and proceeded to replace the back panel.
When I tested the phone again, I found that there was a defect in the touch screen they had replaced.
They made me wait some more time before replacing the touch screen again. I don't understand why they replaced a good touch screen in the first place.
Again I could detect faint marks on the back panel where they had tried to remove the touch screen. They told me they have to manually lift the touch screen from the back panel and that only your factory had equipment which could neatly detach the touch screen from the back panel. What nonsense is this!!
While waiting at the service centre, I managed to speak to quite a few people around there who had issues with Lumia 720 phones. Clearly, you have some major issues with this handset.
It was quite late in the evening before I was finally handed the phone.
Please note, I now have a phone which is not even a couple of months old but which has the the following parts replaced
-. ringer
-. touch screen
-. back panel
-. volume controls
Clearly this was a faulty piece that was sold to me requiring replacement of so many parts. Instead of replacing all these parts Nokia should simply have replaced the faulty handset.
However I still decided to take the phone.
Next day when I started receiving calls, people calling me complained they could hardly hear me and I could hear a good amount of static noise. I had to speak up real loud or even call them back. Further after some time, I was not able to hear anything when someone called. Can you imagine my horror.
Somehow after restarting the phone, I was able to hear when someone called. However people are still complaining sometimes they can hardly hear me and I continue to hear the static sound.
I'm completely frustrated at this point. I complained to Ms Silk Technologies and their response was that I leave the phone with them again.
Thanks but no thanks, I have been running behind them and you since 3rd Dec. I can't afford to waste more time running between work and nokia care.
The decent thing for Nokia to do at this point is to refund my money and take back the phone.
I'm completely frustrated with this experience. I had expected a much more robust phone from Nokia, alas that has not been the case.

Unfortunately it is not possible to handle refunds or complaints via this forum. You need to contact Nokia directly in your country and submit a complaint about the service you received from the care centre.

Noisy voice call on Lumia 720

I have Lumia 720 phone and most of the time there is noise during voice calls. When I use same sim in my old nokia 6233 it works fine. It also works fine on my wife's Lumia 620. I even tried getting new sim issued from Vodafone but still same problem.
Please tell me how to get rid of this problem?

Is it noisy for you listening or the person you are talking to?

Low quality sound during call

Since the iOS 7 update that I've been noticed that the sound quality during calls is very poor to others, almost like I speaking away from the iphone without speaker, regardeless I keep earing everything loud and clear!
I've already tested with other iphone 4/4S/5 iOS 7 users, and also running different iOS versions, as well as other phone brands, and the problem maintains!
Upgraded to 7.0.3 today, despite the improvement/enhancements/bug corrections list dont mention any issue addressed to this problem, hoping to solve the problem, but nothing change, its pretty much the same as before!
All settings are at the max, and also perform some tasks as suggested on apple support forums like tweaking the accessability options, by turning noise reduction off, but still the same!!
My S/N is C34JPLSTDTWF.
Hope I had described accuarately, in order to you perform the correct troubleshoot for this, this if you ain't already done it!

This happened to me as well and I confirmed others are experiencing same speaker/mic/bluetooth issues with both 4S and iPad 2, 3. Applied the updated patch yesterday, things are worse because now I have NO sound via the speaker. What's the FIX?!

I've been trying to find a common denominator. It happens inconsistently. It never happened before the Denim update. When it does occur, the screen goes black immediately upon answering the call and doesn't come back until the call is ended by the calling party.
I thought it might be the proximity sensor, but when it's working normally I can see the screen go dark when it's at my ear and comes back when I take it away (tried it multiple times). I had Gestures Beta installed. I wondered if that could have an affect so I uninstalled it, but that didn't make any difference. I'm still stumped by the inconsistency. I haven't reset my phone as I didn't really want to go through that...

Hi, I do have the same problem. Just bought the phone. Updated right after bying to Androit 4.1.2 and Build nr 9.1.A.1.140.Calls with headset or loudspeaker works. But if I switch it too normal calling I´couldn´t hear a thing. I turned the phone on and off: no change. I even did a reset: no change.I really didn´t wanted 2 buy an iphone because I thought that the androit phones got better over the years. Somehow I really disappointed right after 3 days having the new phone. Is there any help for this problem, did we flipped the wrong switch somewere in an hidden submenu or is the phone broken? Poor sound quality during calls

The sound quality during calls is very poor and quiet. I have the latest operating system and the volume is at maximum.
I am not using any headsets etc just using the handset in the normal way without any accessories.
I am on the verge of getting rid of this handset due to this issue. The sound quality is extremely poor when handset is held to the ear during phone calls. It is slightly better on speaker phone but not much.
Any help or advice would be appreciated before I decide to move to something else.

I am having the same issue. I am updating to 6.1.3 to see if that helps. It is really annoying. It seems to vibrate as well as hiss on my ear piece speaker while on a call. I keep looking at the phone thinking maybe another call is coming in.

No sound from my nokia lumia 720

Hi there, only had my lumia 720 for a week and all of a sudden no sound, no key tone, no ring tone, no alarm. I have tried various things, reset etc. But no luck. My husband has the same phone, and has also experienced sound problems. Im sure nokia must be aware of this and it seems many people have the same problem. Is there anything i can do, without sending back to provider or visiting a care centre?

I have the same problem.. No ringtone, no keypad tones, can't play songs, no alarm... Regretting after buying this phone. I got this phone a month back. Only the next day after buying this phone, there was some problem with volume keys. I had sent this to nokia service centre, they repaired it and then it worked for some days.. Again in a week's time, I noticed that I couldn't listen to songs, there was no ringtone and no alarm also I have tried all the options (recording a video as well ) but no luck. The only option left is a soft reset, which will erase all my data and downloaded apps. This is very annoying, I don't want to do this again. If you are aware of any other solution.. please please please help I was never a nokia fan.. but don't know why this time I thought of relying on this phone brand. I know the phones this company provides are very sturdy. But they are not so good in manufacturing smartphones. 6233 model - Phone sound (during Calls) very low

the sound I hear during calls is very low despite I have set tones and key pad sounds to the maximum.
Whereas the same in loud speaker mode or hands free mode is very good.

No sounds, unable to hear anything during calls

2 weeks ago my phone stopped making sounds , and I couldn't hear anything during calls Only if I used speakerphone. I sent my phone away to get fixed and received it back a Week later having been 'fixed' with a note saying the problem was due to a corrupt file , I don't download any ringtones which it said could have caused it. I only use it for normal Internet, emails, facebook, bbm etc. 2 weeks on and its happened again although This time it won't even work on speakerphone ! I am really annoyed about this and can't Bear to be without a phone again if I send it away to get fixed . Has anyone else had this problem ? And is it possible to get the phone replaced , its still under warrenty. Thanks to anyone Able to help me

If the original problem was due to a corrupted file, I would suggest upgrading the os before replacing the unit.
