Screeching noise on receiving end of calls

My wife has an iPhone 5, running the most up-to-date software.  For about the last month or so, when she makes phone calls, the person on the other end of the line will experience extremely loud screeching noises.  The problem doesn't happen consistently, but when it does happen it can be very annoying.  We are both on the same cell phone plan and both with Verizon however, I do not experience the same issue.  Verizon blames it on the network and insists that it is not a problem with the phone.  Apple genius' are stumped, as everything checks out ok with the phone.  Is anyone else experiencing the same problem?  I'm interested to hear the experiences of others and maybe even possible fixes.

That happened to me before , I powered down once and another time I pulled battery and it was working fine after that. Try that if not try updating roaming *228 then 2. Last call Verizon and maybe de reset.

Do you mean decline button before picking up the call?

  • I have a new iphone 5 and everytime I try to have a conversation there is this screeching noise that is driving me crazy.  What is this?

I have a new iphone 5 and cannot get the bugs worked out.  Is Iphone5 just a 'dud'?  For starters, everytime I have a phone call, there is this loud screeching noise in the phone.  Sometimes the other person can hear it and sometimes not.  It is loud enough at times I just have to end the call.  Also, this phone has problems with staying connected.  Is the 4g that much different than the 3g?  I have had a Iphone 4 for two years and loved it with no problems.  This one has been a problem from day one.  Get another one you say? Well, here's the kicker, I did.  I sent the other one back because I am on ATT and they allowed me to send it back and get another one.  The exact same problems as the first one.  I don't know what to do.  Any help would be appreciated.

  • Loud screeching noise

not sure if this is something on my end or what, but my whole family has AT&T. i am the only one with the iPhone 4s well when my friend calls me from his Verizon iPhone 4, sometimes when i answer i hear this horrendous loud screeching noise! he claims it is my phone. he never hears the noise. but it only happens when he calls.. not when i call him or when anyone else calls me... but it doesn't happen to anyone else when he calls them... is this an apple or AT&T issue?? sometimes it happens more frequently than others and it is getting really annoying to have to answer his call, listen to the noise, hang up, then call him back and hear him scream because my phone is a piece of crap. anyone else had this happen to them??

his phone is crap, and so is his network provider.  its definitely not your phone.  all phones experience this on occassion, sometimes when the signal is weak. if this doesn't happen when anyone else calls you, just him, then that's a pretty clear indicator that it's got to do with him, and his phone, not yours (you've got a 4s, the best phone on the planet).  verizon *****, their network technology is inferior in every way. i would suggest you either convince him to move to at&t or stop being friends with him?

  • Horrible Screeching Noise!

First let me say that I am a total novice, but I recently bought an iphone and set up the usb dock to my macbook and have found that when I dock the phone if my speakers are on, I get the most horrible screeching sound coming out of the speakers. If I turn the speakers off the noise is gone and I can leave it docked but heaven forbid I turn the volume on! Anyone have any insight to why this happens and if there is a way to prevent it? I'd like to use the docking device and not the wall charger.

Grab just about any cell phone and put it next to your speakers (though somebody can correct me if I am wrong...may just be those that use the type of network Edge is on...) and you will get the same thing. Some phones give off more interference than others. It has happened with all my phones. Next to clock radio alarms, computer speakers, even car speakers if put in right spot. And when the cell is actually active (receiving txt, email, call) it will get a lot worse.
    This is normal.

  • Weird Freezing Issues... with Screeching Noise!

It said to post here if it didn't fit any other categories. There was not a Post Topic button on the main page so I apologize if this is the wrong place. I have an Indigo iMac, bought from ebay, running 10.3.9 and 9.2.2. It arrived yesterday and I setup my admin account with no problem. But very, very randomly, it just freezes up. About half the time, when you hit the restart button the screen goes dark and there's a loud screeching noise while the power button flashes slowly. After which you have to hold in the power button to shut it off. turn it back on and it seems to run fine for awhile but then it'll freeze. Every now and then I get lucky and the restart button works normally.
Other issues that may be part of the same problem: I've received the "You need to restart your computer" warning in 4 languages about 3 times. when trying to Force Quit a System 9 Application it did a restart instead. LOL Icons in the dock will appear corrupted with see thru areas in them right before a freeze. I cannot not run Disk Utility to check for problems; it freezes immediately.
Other Information: I haven't had time to load most of my programs, I have no special fonts loaded yet (I'm a graphic designer), I'm using Verizon DSL for internet (but problems were present well before I loaded that up).
In short, I have no idea what's doing this. It's like nothing I've ever encountered. The symptoms are so random that it's hard to tell the cause. But one thing is guarateed. It will freeze up sometime during use. Every time. The computer is lightning fast for it's age, and when it works, it works great, so I don't want to return it. I just want to fix whatever the bug is. Any help is greatly appreciated. Let me know if you need other information I may not have thought to give.

Did you check out the RAM? Screeching noises are not good, you might want to run the hardware test and also see if the HD is in good shape. In the end, you might be better off returning it and getting another one, there are lots out there.
You can probably get a more informed reply if you post to http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=888, which covers the CRT iMacs.
    Good luck,
    Miriam

  • Why can't I hear the receiver of my call unless it's on speaker

Every time I make a call the receiver of my call picks up but I don't hear the dialing or anything on my end.  The screen indicates that the call is in progress but there's dead air on my end.  Only when I press speakerphone i can hear the person on the other end.  The phone is only 3 weeks old.

Have you removed the plastic protective film that is on the iPhone when it was shipped?

If it is so, Since your structure has more than 2 levels of Hierarchy, you will not be able to do content conversion. Content conversion can be done upto only 2 evels of Hierarchy to the best of my Knowledge.
Anyways if it is so then the only possible solution that i can suggest is to change the structure as either of the 2 below and then do content conversion...

Which of these structures to use depends on your logic and need and also do note the fact that changing the structure will bring in a change to your mapping logic. So do make a wise call on the same....

  • Iphone 4 randomly shut off after trying to end a call now it wont turn back on. Please help

I've had my phone for almost 2 years now (my contract is over next month). I was getting a call answered it and after I said goodbye I tried ending the call and the screen was just black. I waited a few minutes tried pressing the home button nothing, tried reseting it and again nothing its currently on the charger and I'm just going to give it a litttle time before trying to reset again. Thanks for your time

    Hello there, John.
The following Knowledge Base article provides some good steps for troubleshooting the issue you're describing:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2802
    Display shows a white screen
After finishing a call the display remains black
If the iPhone is in a protective case, remove it from the case.
If there is a protective or antiglare film on the display, remove the film.
Clean the screen, especially around the receiver, with a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth.
Try turning iPhone off and then on again.
My issue is still not resolved. What do I do next?
    Contact Apple Support.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.
