Screen & Audio sharing

I want to be able to share my screen with my friend so that they can watch me play a game that I have on my mac. This can be done easily. I also want them to be able to hear my voice. This is also easily achieved. The last thing I want however, is for my friend to be able to hear the game audio as well. Skype seems to have no option to do this though. I have both Soundflower and Audio Hijack Pro, but don't know how to use them so that they meet my desire.
Just to make it clear, my goal is to be able to have the person in the Skype call hear my voice, and the sounds from my MacBook Pro, other than the Skype call itself (so that they do not hear their own voice when they speak). Also worth noting, the game(s) in question that I hope to play, have no audio options so nothing can be tweaked with those games themselves, in terms of audio.

Hi, me and a friend wanted exactly the same setup and we came up with a, maybe not perfect, but creative and working solution. Unfortunately I did this on Windows so you have to figure it out on Mac. It should be possible though.
First you have to do some research on how your sound driver supports setting your system sound as an input source. (Imagine it like your speaker Output becomes microphone Input)
You choose this input device as your skype input device. This way you get the Games sound into your Skype call. Then you mute skype on your mac. Take your smartphone (or any second device which can run skype) and open a conference call with your freind, your mac and your second device. That way you can talk, stream sound and screen and your friend does not hear himself twice.
I am pretty sure there is sophisticated software which can filter your system sound so you can only stream the games sound and can find a better solution instead of using a second device for communication, but this is quick and easy to set up.

  • Skype Screen & Audio Sharing

    When using Skype, I sometimes share my screen with my friend so that they can see what I see. I tend to do this most often when showing several pictures, but I usually do it to share my experience playing a game on my MacBook Pro. It's just something we enjoy doing. This works fine because my friend(s) can hear my voice and see what I see. However, they cannot hear what I hear. I've checked and there is no option to fix this. I suppose it would be rather inconvenient as they'd probably hear their own voice.
    My question is rather simple. How can I share my screen with my friend on Skype, where they can see the game I see, hear my voice and hear the audio from the game. Just to make this clear, the game has no audio adjustment options so I cannot rely on that. I have tried using a program called Soundflower, but I cannot figure out how to use it to suffice my desire.

    Hi,
    Please try to uninstall the default Sound Card, VGA Device/Video Card, Graphic Card, and use the default system driver to test the issue. Because sometimes update driver to the latest version doesn't work but only use the default system.
    Please also make sure OS system update to the latest version.

    send portfolio- how to customize adobe welcome screen for shared porfolio ?(Opening the link forces the recipient to a downright ugly irrelevant and dead advertisement (appropriately titled "branding logo.png) rather a related cover page)

    Hi nedler1,
    Please try the following steps to display the cover sheet and replace it with custom one:
    How to change a portfolio’s initial view setting to show the cover sheet (and hide the contents):
    Open a PDF portfolio and run the following JS in the console:
    this.collection.initialView = 'Hidden';
    Save the portfolio, close and re-open.
    The cover sheet will now be displayed when opening the portfolio.
    Updating the cover sheet
    Also, most likely if you want the coversheet displayed when opening the portfolio, and do not want the default cover sheet:
    Here are the steps to replace the default cover sheet:
    Open the Portfolio.
    Perform a View > Portfolio > cover sheet to open the cover sheet.
    Open the Pages panel for the cover sheet.
    Right click on the cover sheet page in the pages panel, select “Replace Pages”.
    Replace the cover sheet page with the desired cover from a page in another pdf.
    Save the portfolio.

  • Screen audio with headphones

    how can i record my screen audio and use headphones at the same time?? i can't evan use my headphones microphone, why??

    Hey Simon Christensen,
    I see that you have questions about using your headphone microphone for screen capture audio. This question can be answered by using the information in the following article:
    Clicking the triangle gives you additional options, such as letting you choose whether to use the built-in microphone on your Mac, an external microphone you've connected to your Mac, or a microphone from a connected Apple display. You can also use this menu to choose the finished quality of your recording. Changing the quality from High to Maximum produces a high-quality uncompressed movie file. However, uncompressed audio files can use large amounts of disk space.
    The current running file size is displayed on the bottom right of the controls while you're recording. This changes to the total elapsed time when you stop recording. The sound meter (located at the bottom of the controls) makes it easy to ensure your volume level is consistent, and is helpful for making sure you're an appropriate distance from the microphone.

  • Apple ID for Screen/File Sharing Home Network

    I have several Macs connected mostly by ethernet as part of my home network. I am trying to simplify the act of logging into one device from another. One method is to setup a username and password for each Mac, and then use these credentials to log into the other computers when prompted. However, I'd like to use the alternative method of using a shared Apple ID registered on each machine, as described here: OS X Yosemite: Set up users on your Mac at step 8, first bullet point. However, it is unclear exactly WHERE this Apple ID is linked to the user. On older versions of OSX, there is a "Set" button in the Users preferences panel; in Yosemite, this button is no longer present. I have entered my apple ID in the "Advanced Options" screen, accessible by unlocking the lock, and right clicking on the user in question. On the Advanced Options screen, there is a place to enter the Apple ID, as well as an alias. I have also linked all my Macs to my iCloud account in the "iCloud" panel in System Preferences.
    I think Apple has made changes to OSX Yosemite, but haven't updated their online user manual in reference to this in Yosemite. The funny thing is am able to log into some of my computers using my Apple ID, but not others, despite the settings appearing to all be the same. I have also tried using an Airport Extreme router (newest version) instead of my Asus router, but it hasn't helped the situation.
    Any help or insights would be appreciated...

    Hey kennamy,
    I see that you want to access some of your computers remotely and are experiencing some issues. Since you have an iCloud account already signed in to all devices, I would recommend that you use Back to my Mac in order to accomplish this:

  • [SOLVED] Pulse Audio / ALSA audio sharing.

    SOLUTION AT POST # 4
    My computer has integrated audio and HDMI.  From my understanding, to be able to switch between these two types of audio hardware I require a sound server.  If this is not correct, please let me know so that I can uninstall Pulse Audio.  Assuming it is correct, I have numerous problems with my audio.  When running multiple programs, often I have to open pavucontrol and move the volume slider around in order for the audio to play in a newly opened program.  I have XFCE's volume control set to ALSA, and I am unable to change it to Pulse Audio for some reason.  This is a problem because every time I mute or change the volume using XFCE's volume control, I then have to go into Pulse Audio later to change the audio back.  If I run a game or VLC, and then open Firefox, I get no Flash audio.  However, if I run Firefox first, I have no audio in VLC or in game.  Usually I can fix this by opening pavucontrol and messing with the volume sliders.  This is not ideal.  Ultimately it seems the problem is that the program I am using are not sharing the audio hardware, so only one can play audio at a time.
    What can I do to make my audio work as it should?
    Here is my audio hardware
    # lspci | grep -i audio

    I searched the Wiki, but it is out of date.  https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/PulseAudio#ALSA
    . . . For the applications that do not support PulseAudio and support ALSA it is recommended to install the PulseAudio plugin for ALSA. This package also contains the necessary /etc/asound.conf for configuring ALSA to use PulseAudio.
    To prevent applications from using ALSA's OSS emulation and bypassing Pulseaudio (thereby preventing other applications from playing sound), make sure the module snd_pcm_oss is not in the MODULES array in /etc/rc.conf. If it is currently loaded (lsmod|grep oss), disable it by executing: . . .
    How can I do this using systemd instead of rc.conf?
    Edit: Since there is a lack of response, I am completely changing the entire post in order to be clear and productive.

    I found a solution here: http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get- … audio.html
    You must create /etc/asound.conf and insert the following:
    pcm.pulse {
    type pulse
    ctl.pulse {
    type pulse
    pcm.!default {
    type pulse
    ctl.!default {
    type pulse

  • How to capture screen activity? (screen&audio to video file)

    Hello,
    I have to capture video desktop activity (including audio) to a file using JMF. I spent hours and hours searching this... a have studied a lot of classes, examples BUT I don't know how to bind them... how to record the actvity. My project is to record screen activity, upload on a server and finally control my computer remotely from an applet (or from another java desktop application). I will use HTTP streaming (what I record I upload on a server, then stream it to the client)
    Can someone show me some hints or code for modifying JVidCap example from Sun? Someone else on Sun forum said he could do it but did not say how...
    I just want to modify the video capturing so that I get the screen actifity recorded. I read nearly all examples possible including Screen Grabber...
    Please help me!
    I also have those two classes to get the screen activity as datasource... from [Screen Grabber|http://java.sun.com/javase/technologies/desktop/media/jmf/2.1.1/solutions/ScreenGrabber.html] example but I really don't understand how to implement them in my application because there is no method returning a datasource object... (or probably I don't know how to use them):

    I hope someone can bind them or help me to go on on this project.... it is so important to me ...

  • IMovie 11 green screen - audio of the video in foreground won't play

    Elementary teacher. Groups of students are creating movies and adding green screen effects to videos. In more than one group, the audio begins fine, but as the group edits (over the course of a day or two), eventually the audio in the foreground video stops playing. I see the audio waves, but do not hear the audio. When skimming the clip in the event library, the audio is fine. When the clip is reinserted, the audio plays. Nothing is ducked, muted or turned down.
    Why are we losing the audio?

    Thanks for the suggestion Brad, that makes sense... However, I was hoping there was a "straight" iMovie solution.
    I'd prefer to not have to 1) spend any money and 2) use a program to do something iMovie is already supposed to do.

    Hello,
    Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    You will need to select an audio input before starting a screen recording in Quicktime Player in order for any audio to be recorded.  To see which options are available to you, please follow the directions in the article below.

  • Imovie 9 green screen -- audio and video editing problems

    I seem to have discovered that once you add a video (the "front" part) to a background using green screen, you can no longer do certain edits on the front part's audio or video.
    I tried to do a manual audio fade on a certain clip, and it didn't work.   Now I am trying to bring the entire audio for a certain clip down to zero, and even though the little speaker icon shows no sound waves, normal 100% sound is coming from the clip.
    Likewise with the video.  I tried to do a Split Clip on the front part and it simply didn't work.
    Anybody have some words of wisdom?  Thanks.

    Videos created in iMovie on the new ipad will not play on PC with Quicktime after being exported to the Camera Roll and copied to the PC. Movie will play but with a black screen only. Audio ok. Was able to do before ios 6 but not now.

  • Flashplugin and Audio Sharing

    I've done a lot of work over the past three days on trying to record the output from flash plugin and save it to a file. It works! I swear to god, it does. But only sometimes. It will literally work one instance, and then ten seconds later in another instance with the exact same environment, it won't work. Needless to say, this is incredibly frustrating.
    The command I am using, precisely, is as such (and yes, I DO have a Logitech USB headset plugged in):
    ffmpeg -f alsa -i pulse_monitor derp.mp3
    My .asoundrc is:
    pcm.pulse_monitor {
      type pulse
      device alsa_output.usb-Logitech_Logitech_USB_Headset-00-Headset.analog-stereo.monitor
    ctl.pulse_monitor {
      type pulse
      device alsa_output.usb-Logitech_Logitech_USB_Headset-00-Headset.analog-stereo.monitor
    (Yeah, I know... alsa, watching pulse, watching alsa...)
    When I start a flash plugin-based thing like a Youtube video, then use the above ffmpeg command, the command hangs just before it gets to the bit where it guesses my channel layout. When I close the process that spawned the flash plugin, it starts recording.
    When I start ffmpeg first, and it begins recording before the plugin loads, when the plugin DOES load, it either produces no sound or refuses to work at all, showing a black box.
    I have also tried this, and this is the one which has occasionally worked:
    ffmpeg -f pulse -i "alsa_output.usb-Logitech_Logitech_USB_Headset-00-Headset.analog-stereo.monitor" derp.mp3
    I know that the device names are right because they correctly record other applications, like teamspeak3. Notably, teamspeak3 and java show up in the "Playback" tab of pavucontrol, but flashplugin and chromium do not.
    I know Ubuntu users seem to have problems with flashplugin sharing audio: http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.p … 18171.html
    Anybody have some insight to share with me? I don't have to get it working - I just want to know why it works sometimes and not always.

    thanks for the reply astacha..
    I'm runnig arch 64 too, but this doesn't work for me. I don't think this is a problem of missing libs.. It works if i'm root!!
    I think it's only a permissions issue.. But i don't know which file doesn't work properly.
    Thanks again..

  • Quicktime 7.2 No picture no screen/Audio OK

    Hi everyone.
    There seem to be many similar messages for this problem under various posts. This is an attempt to consolidate.
    I too have the exact same problem. At the Apple/trailer site the audio bar comes up and plays but no screen no video. I've tried trashing the webplugins, I've tried de-selecting Flash players to no avail.
    Additionally, I too can use Firefox and play the trailers fine. I'm convinced its a bug and/or user setting with QT. Let's get to the bottom of this issue. We're all looking for that permanent solution. I certainly don't have one. You'd think the QT team would speak with the Safari team but I guess they broke up.
    Thank you all for your patience and interest,

    This began happening to me shortly after I started using Safari 3.0 beta (clearly a coincidence). I began noticing the problem around the time the iPhone was released (couldn't play the videos in Safari, only in FireFox) After reinstalling QuickTime and Safari I resorted to some old fashioned troubleshooting ala Classic extensions by disabling plug-ins and discovered that disabling the "QuickTime Plugin.webplugin" resolved the issue. No revelation here, but I took it a step further and did some web research. I found this article in a CNET forum http://forums.cnet.com/5208-6035102-0.html%3Bjsessionid=abchl3-hB5bKfRphCEtr?forumID=28&threadID=259585 in which someone else resolved the problem by disabling Rosetta (select the Safari icon, Get Info, uncheck "Open Using Rosetta"), of course this solution will disable non-Universal or non-Intel native plug-ins. I've tested this with both plug-ins enabled and it works. So my question is, why are there two QuickTime plug-ins? What's the point of the "QuickTime Plugin.webplugin"? Bueller...?
