Screen Auto-Rotate Won't Rotate

My screen stopped rotating. When I open an app it just rotates to one side. I already went to the settings and it did not help. Has anyone else had this proble? It just started today.

Hi RoggieWonKanobe,
Does the screen rotate when you are in an application, or in the standard dock/car dock (if you have them)? I ask this because the home screens do not rotate, unless a 3rd party application, like Launcher Pro, for example, has been downloaded. This application has multiple themes and can be personalized.
Because of the widgets, the stock launcher for the Bionic has five screens that are non-configurable and do not rotate.
The Bionic will auto-rotate when in an application or when in one of the docks, as mentioned above.
I hope this information is helpful. Have a good day!

  • Screen auto rotates without tilting the device!

I know this sounds weird but it is! After the upgrade to 4.4.2 when I am doing whatever, doesn't matter what, the screen auto rotates upside down without me even tilting the device towards that direction!! It is really annoying - if I am typing it would make me click on go back or home when I should press space, when playing it makes me fall down and die, or turn right instead of left, when browsing it makes me click on something else, etc etc. I hoped that 4.4.4 would solve that - it solved indeed the flickering of the screen but it didn't the auto rotation. So, what should I do with my crazy accelerometer?! I guess it's the software not hardware... Anyway, I know how to turn off the auto-rotation of the screen from settings but I would love my device to still be able to auto rotate when I need it and not to have to make a manual rotation! Thank you for your answers!!

I had the same issue after upgrading from 4.2 to 4.3. Sony advised me to do a repair update via Pc Companion, which fixed it. Make sure you back up to both sd card using tablet app, and to pc via companion, and restore from both, otherwise you may lose any apps you have installed. I found that out that out the hard way :-)

  • Screen auto-rotate

Since the update Screen Auto-rotate takes forever, if at all, can take any thing from 3mins to me having to use the red button to turn the phone off?

Try performing a system repair using PC Companion as this will often fix issues - This will factory reset your phone and erase all data so best to backup before you begin
Switch off your phone and unplug from Pc (Hold volume up and power for around 10 seconds)
Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the on screen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process
If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP

  • Z3 screen auto rotate?

How dosent home screen and aplications page autorotate, autorotate is on position?

    @wmgtam & @Tokkeli,
It is understandable how you can be frustrated for something that is common in your opinion. Sony can't please every users, no organization can regardless of hor big they are or how much money they have. Sony has made a great product, we have to choose how to use it to fit our needs. In a lot of cases, there are apps and settings that will accommocate most users. Although there isn't an option within the default settings with Son'y version of the Android OS... you are in luck.
Nove Launcher has this setting under Nove Settings > Look and Feel > Screen Orientation > Auto-Rotate.
You don't need to be rooted to install Nova. Once done, you can customize your launcher how you see fit. I've purchased Nova Prime some times ago... $4.99 I think... and to me, it is worth the cost to customize how I want it.
No nuts with it... you won't regret it.
    Hope this helps.

The autorotate on my IPad 2 suddenly quit working as well, I was able to get it to start working again by doing a complete shut down ( Holding down on the top power button then swiping off on the screen) Then just turning it back on. I have not seen the problem occur again.
My new iPad 2 had the same problem last night a few hours after I originally turned it on. Turning it off and on fixed it. Very odd that it occurred. I hope this isn't a common issue.

  • Thinkpad Helix - Screen auto rotation does not work (Issue 3/3)

    Hi,
I have installed a clean Windows 8.1 on the Helix and have several issues. Putting them into several threads so they can be answered independently.
The first thing I did after installing the system (and critical Windows Updates) was running the Lenovo System Update tool and downloading everything.
Screen rotation does not work. In “Device Manager” I can see “C5621 gw Mobile Broadband Geolocation Sensor” and “Hid Sensor Collection”. The HID one has an exclamation mark next to it. Are there some drivers I need to download to make this work. I did of course check if screen rotation is not locked – it is not (I did turn it on/off a couple of times, without any effect). Manual rotation (using display settings) works fine.
Thank you in advance for any help,
    Łukasz

    Hi Lukasz,
Try, in device manager, right click on HID Sensor Collection then uninstall. Reboot, and see if the driver is loaded properly, if not click on scan for hardware changes.

  • Windows 10 Screen Auto Rotation Not Working/Option is not visible or available

I just upgraded to Windows 10 through the microsoft app. Everyhthing works fine except the screen rotation doesn't work at all. The option to able or disable this feature is dimmed meaning that you can't interact with it. Please help if you know the solution.

Same here on Envy x2 13-j001ng, rotation does not work. I have verified that orientation sensor itself works (via Sensor Diagnostic Tool 0.7.2) and sensors services are running, but rotation does not work. Additionally, accelerometer controls in Asphalt 8: Airborne don't work either, so I suspect an issue lies within WIndows.

  • Auto rotate freezes

Has anyone else had the problem of their screening auto rotating on it's own and freezing in the landscape position?

What I recommend you do is try a battery pull.  You can accomplish this by:
    Powering the device off.
    Removing the battery
Let the device sit for 156 seconds.
    Replace the battery.
    Power the device back on.

  • Cannot Disable Auto-Rotate on Twist s230u

I want to completely disable the screen auto-rotation on my Twist s230u and prevent it from re-enabling at all.  The only modes I use it in are tablet mode or laptop mode, so I have no use for this.  Is there a way to do this?
The checkbox under the Screen Resolution section of Display Properties doesn't seem to do jack.  The screen still rotates when this is unchecked.  I've also rolled back the driver of the Lenovo PM Device from 1.67 to 1.66 as per this thread.  Can't say I've noticed a difference after this either.
    Any other ideas?  Thanks.

  • Screen keeps rotating sideways

My laptop screen keeps rotating sideways when it only has one monitor connected. Even external. I have had Windows 10 installed since the day it came out, and never had this issue.
    I have auto-rotate turned off.
I go into Screen Resolution --> Orientation  --> Landscape --> Apply.
As soon as I switch to another app or program, the screen rotates back. I then ran windows update and found a driver update and still the same issue.
    Any Ideas?

If you are comfortable using registry editor, follow these steps.
( ***** if you are not familiar with registry editing, DON'T use this method ***** )
Method to disable screen auto rotation :
Right click Start button > select Run > type regedit > OK
Expand ( click the pointer in front of ) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
    expand Software
    expand Microsoft
    expand Windows
    expand CurrentVersions
select AutoRotation > righ side, right click at Enable > click Modify > at the Value data box, change the 1 to 0 > OK when done.
    Exit regedit.

  • Since my last software update the auto rotation on both my ipad air and my iphone 5c won't work. I have tried everything, including; checking the auto-lock - it isn't on lock. I've checked the settings in the Control Centre and they're as they should be.

Since my last update the auto rotation on both my ipad & my iphone has stopped working. I've done all the usual stuff to correct it but no joy. I've reset, rebooted, turned off then back on, checked all settings including those for the side switch and everything is as it should be except the rotation still doesn't work. There are no open apps, movies or videos that could be locking the screen so I am now totally stumped.
    Any suggestions please?

The fact that gs.apple.com was in your host file to begin with is an indicator that your computer was used to jailbreak or hack an iOS device at some point in the past. You can not get help here for a hacked or jailbroken device. If your phone was hacked or jailbroken, Apple won't touch it.
RecBoot and Tinyumbrella are hacking tools.
    Google "iPhone DFU mode".
Try restoring in DFU mode. If that doesn't fix it, make an appointment at the genius bar and see what Apple has to say about it.

  • How to auto rotate Images on Full Screen Slideshow if pictures were taken mixed Portrait and Landsca

In Muse: How to auto rotate Images on Full Screen Slideshow if pictures were taken mixed Portrait and Landscape

There is no way that Muse would automatically rotate the images. What you can instruct Muse to do is whether you want to show all image content and leave blank space in either direction OR scale the image to fill the frame resulting in some cropping, but filling the otherwise blank space.
The options are Fit Content Proportionally and Fill Frame Proportionally respectively.

  • IOS 8.3 and the auto rotation of the screen problem?

I upgraded to IOS 8.3 and the auto rotation of the screen has stopped working on my iPad Air 2, has anyone else got this problem?

By Control Centre I meant swipe up from the bottom of the screen to bring up Control Centre.  In there you will find the rotation lock symbol (a padlock with a circular arrow round it).  Make sure that is turned OFF

  • Myatt screen too small & doesn't auto-rotate

It's a smartphone app that isn't designed for a smartphone size screen. Please update your myatt app to allow it to auto-rotate, like web pages, for increased readability.

Considering the amount of money we all send AT&T for cell phones, cellular service and U-Verse service, I don't think it's too much to ask that their cell phone apps work properly with their cell phones or that their U-Verse DVRs should include the same frame advance and slow motion features as all of their competitors. (Even cheap VCR & DVD players include frame advance and slow motion.)
