Screen becomes scrambled

Since the most recent update my Mac Pro's cinema 24 inch display becomes all scrambled when safari or any other browser is open. The issue is usually preceeded by some flickering of flash adds on any given webpage. If I shake the window, everything goes back to normal to re occur later on. The time for the event to reoccur varies and has become unpredictable. Restart, helps for a little while, but does not solve the problem. Since I have two monitors, I first thought it was either the monitor and or the video card. Now the issues has spread to the second monitor. Any ideas?

Using the Apple 24 inch on Mini DisplayPort and the Acer on a DVI -> HDMI cable leaves no room for blaming adapters for this problem.
Your display card could be the NVIDIA GT 120 or the ATI HD 4870, unless it has been replaced. Both have been well-behaved as far as we know.
If the same symptoms are starting to appear on a second screen, that could mean problems with the display card. If you can find your release DVDs, you should run the Apple Hardware test. It is on the DVD labeled, "To run Apple Hardware Test, startup up with this disc and hold the D key" or equivalent.

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

The Apple icon, usually at top left corner, appears in top right corner in a strip including all that left hand. When the computer is restarted, the screen goes back to normal. But I have to move the mouse to the far left of the screen and then up until it reappears on the far right hand side of the screen so that I can hit shut down button.
It seems to happen randomly though always on desk top and sometimes when I move mouse and computer switches on from rest mode. My large flat screen is relatively new.
The video card on this computer, which is approximately two years old, is Nvidia FeForce 9400M.
Any help would be welcome as my usual source of assistance is not available and I am not well versed in workings of the Mac although I have used one for many years.

That sounds like a Hardware problem.
You may be able to confirm that with Apple Hardware Test, or make an appointmenst for a free Genius Bar evaluation.

After recent upadte to firefox 9.0 beta 5 the screen becomes black for most part. Its like the pages and everything is working perfectly but it becomes black and flickers a lot.

If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Sometimes when downloading a .pdf file I'm not automatically switched to Acrobat reader, but the screen becomes white with a red borderline left and upper, IE doesn't have this problem

The screen shows the borders of the original site. Beneath the Mozilla workbar the screen becomes white, on the left and upper side there appears a thin red line. Nothing is downloaded, clicking the right mouse button doesn't solve the problem. It doesn't happen everytime I try to load a .pdf file. When I go to the same site using Internet Explorer I do not encouter the same problem, swiching to Acrobat Reader or FoxIt is immediate.

To enable this right you need Acrobat, not the free Reader.
However, starting from Reader X it is possible to add simple markups to any file, unless it has been specifically disallowed by the creator of the file.

The 'Brightness/Contrast' dialogue screen becomes unexplainably absent in PhotoShop 7.0 on XP

About every year of so the 'Brightness/Contrast' screen becomes unexplainably absent while using my PhotoShop 7.0 in XP. When I click on 'Brightness/Contrast' the eyedropper becomes active as usual but the dialog screen with the two 'sliders' for brightness and contrast is not visible. Where is it? If I uninstall and reinstall it's OK again for a while.

It's not unheard of for dialogs to become lost off screen. It can happen
when you reconfigure your display rez, or rearrange monitors.
Before you re-install (assuming this happens again), try resetting your
prefs by pressing the ctrl-alt-shift keys during startup.

Screen becomes non-responsive during calls

Hello:
I am having an occasional, but seemingly becoming more frequent, problem in which the screen becomes non-functional during calls. My immediate impression is of removing the phone from my ear to end a call and the screen not lighting up. Eventually, after I played with the buttons (which may or may not have really helped) the phone lit up. This has also happened when the phone was ringing, making it impossible to take the call.
I am using the most current firmware, but believe the problem began with an earlier version. It just seems more frequent. I cannot reproduce the problem on demand.
Ideas? Solutions?

The proximity sensor, which is what tells the phone to turn off the touch screen when the phone is against your face to prevent "cheek dialing", is located just above the ear speaker hole. Do you have a case or anything else on the phone that could possibly be blocking the sensor?

Qosmio F10-121 while startup screen becomes striped with big purples stripes

I suddenly had a problem with my Qosmio. Perhaps someone could help me.
When I turn on my computer, the Qosmio logo appears (sound ok) and then, Windows logo. But here comes the problem, my screen becomes striped with big purples stripes. I can't do anything, it's totally unreadable... Windows can't be loaded, the Qosmio bips and reboot.
When I plug an external screen, it's the same thing.
I tried to use the restoration DVD, but for the instant, it changes nothing.
I see 2 issues:
- A video card problem (but Qosmio logo appears, and restoration DVDs menus are normal
- A big HDD failure (when I plug the internal Qosmio's dd on my other computer, it's very, very slow, and suddenly, HDD disappears)
So, if you have advices...

I reply myself to complete informations.
I can't run the computer in qosmio mode. If my memory is good, I had only to use the tv little grey key when off. If i use the key, the computer shut on, but nothing on screen, caps lock is on.
Other anormality: I wanted to use Kaella fro linux to see if the video card was ok, but I can't boot on the cd, even pressing C key at startup...
I think he is dead. But I bought it only 2 years ago...

Your MacBook already comes with iTunes. What iTunes is telling you is probably to update it to the most recent version, so open  > Software Update, and install the most recent iTunes version, in this case, 11.0.4.

Main Reader screen becomes overloaded and unweildly

As I begin to load collections in the Library in preparation for moving them to a Memory Stick on the Reader, the Library main screen becomes populated with more and more titles making it increasingly difficult to find newly imported titles in the list so that they can be moved to collections. What settings are you using in the Import dialog?
Can you sort the images once they are imported?
Are they sorted/sortable in the Import dialog?
Into what container are you importing them?
Is your installation of Aperture and of OS X completely up-to-date?

My tabs randomly become scrambled and encrypted in what appears to be mandarin? What is going on???

When I have my web browser open for some moderate time period, suddenly the "web-page tabs" become scrambled and have an overwriting text which appears to be Mandarin or Japanese. The red "close (x)" button on the tab as well as the plus (+) to open a new window page all come scrambled and out of alignment and/or hidden. If I close out my browser and clear all my internet data and reopen, things start normal again. But these symptoms are ALWAYS returning. It does not matter what webpage I am on. Even Google's search engine get's this "tab-scramble." ANY HELP? Is this a virus, worm, bug? I have Norton anitvirus and MacAfee Internet security, but they don't detect anything. And again, this occurs on any harmless site. I can email screenshots of these occurrences if it helps. Thanks for any suggestions!!
