Screen black and now in recovery mode

Hi i need some help, my iphone dropped out of my pocket and was still functioning and making noises but the screen is totally black, I read some forums and tried holding the power and lock buttons at the same time for 15secs its now in recovery mode, help please i dont want to totally restore and loose all my stuff, it wants me to put the password on the screen to backup but i cant see anything on the screen

Once the Device is asking to be Restored with iTunes... it is too late to save anything... and you must continue with the Recovery...

Updating ipad and now in recovery mode

I tried to update the software on my iPad to ios 8.0.0, didn't realise the update was now 8.0.2. Downloaded the update via iTunes, however the iPad has gone into recovery mode and and to restore the iPad I need to update the software, I have tried a few times and keep getting a pop up error message saying that iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode. You must restore the iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
How can I restore the iPad to the back up without downloading the latest software update?
Or how can I just get it to work?

RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...
Note:
1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.
3. Repeat the process if necessary.

Contacts are designed to be synced to a supported application on the computer or a cloud service.
Pictures taken with the device are designed to regularly be copied off the device to a computer as would be done with any digital camera.
If you have failed to use the device as designed it may be too late to recovery anything.
Is the device regularly backed up to a computer via iTunes? If so, the most recent backup (when restored to a replacement iOS device) should contain all contacts and pictures as of when the backup was created.

My Ipod just stopped working, the screen got black and now I can't open it. I have tried to charge it but it doens't work.

Try a reset: Press and hold both Sleep/Wake and Home buttons until the Apple logo appears.

Is Find My Phone turned on, on your phone? If so, eject from iTunes, login to iCloud.com, locate your phone, then erase it.
Does the same thing...removes the passcode. Then, either restore from backup, or setup as a new device.

If your iPhone wont power on, I recommend going through these steps first:

Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.

- Try a reset.
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Then connect to your computer and try to restore.
- See if placing the iPod in recovery mode will allow a restore. For recovery mode see:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
- If the logo still show all the time, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an hour try the above again.

Screen Black and Safari Still Hangs!!

This is getting to be a real pain... Here we are , keeping up to date with all the latest Leopard
updates and still screen brightness resets to 0 after waking from sleep or powering up
and safari takes longer to launch in Leopard. I can honestly say and remember now that Tiger and Safari were fast launching. Flying really.

UPDATE: I attempted to bypass activation using the emergency call 112 to get into the homescreen, but the call failed, in fact, even 911 will not go through and give me a call failed. (before you yell at me for dialing 911, I'm a firemedic )
