Screen blanking and won't restore (solved)

Since the last update from testing (kernel 25.3) if I leave and the screensaver should start, the screen goes dark and the monitor doesn't turn off. The only way to fix it is to reboot. ??
If I run xscreensaver-demo the screen also freezes.

I went to the camera app from the lock screen and the app seemed to freeze, so I pressed the home button. The screen went blank and now won't turn on. Oddly, when I plugged it into iTunes on the computer, I was able to sync, and I can get Siri by holding the home button. Also the phone will ring if called, but I cannot answer it. Please help.

Iphone 5c has a black screen, beeps, and won't restore

My iPhone 5c has a black screen. It is charging at the moment, but when it is charging it beeps....constantly... I have tried the home + lock button restoring thing and no apple logo shows up. I don't know what to do HELP!

I said "may" because Apple may determine the fault was due to abuse such as a drop or water damage. I am in no position to say for certain there is warranty on any device except my own.

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

My iPad2 recently started to what appears to be a reboot - screen blanks and Apple logo appears. It has happened 3 times today with the screen just remaining 'blank' for several minutes before the logo appeared. Any ideas??? Do I have a defective iPad2? Any help appreciated.

If it were me, I would back up the ipad, restore it to the factory settings and then restore it from the backup.
That will give you back your settings and data, but will hopefully eliminate whatever is funky with the OS.

Try to force your phone into recovery mode. Disconnect it from the computer's USB cord. Turn it off if you can by holding the sleep/wake switch until you see the red slide to off. If you can't turn it off, please continue. Press and hold the home button while plugging it into the computer's USB cord. Continue holding the Home button while iPhone starts up. Ok, so i've been using my iPhone 6 happily since release day, the only problem I had was a flickering white line at the bottom of the screen while browsing certain webpages and using certain apps. It got to the stage where it was annoying me enough to make me contact apple support. The advisor told me to reset my settings and that should fix the problem... It didn't, it has just made things a whole lot worse! My phone failed to restart after resetting my settings, and has been stuck in a startup loop ending with a red screen for about an hour now. I tried a hard reset with no luck, and now I've just tried restoring it using iTunes, but the restore process says it will take 25 HOURS! ..After about five minutes, and while still connected to iTunes, my phone started going back through the red screen loop and the restore looks like it won't do anything. Please help! I tried to contact apple live chat again, but conveniently it's not available at this moment...

yes, just to say a big thank you to Apple ...realizing today while browsing these forums that I haven't been the only one. Happened to me when I updated from 8.1.2 to 8.1.3 OTA... device (iPhone 4s) stuck in recovery mode ... how nice, this has never ever happened to me after years of using iOS, whether I updated OTA or via iTunes, never. I was then delighted to experience the restore process ... wasted hours doing that thanks again ! (I have many apps and a big backup so...). Seriously, this is unacceptable.

Ipod touch 2G is black screen and won't restore in Itunes (error 21)

I have aquired an Ipod touch 2g 16g that I was hoping to make a present to my daughter with. The device is I guess what is called "Black Screen of Death". I can't get any image to display on the Ipod when trying to charge (which it apparenlty accepts) the item or when trying to connect it to Itunes. Itunes recongizes the item in recovery mode, and attempts to restore the item and consistantly gives the error 21 message. I am using Windows 7 and have tried to restore the device on a laptop running Win XP with the exact same results. The screen will turn white during the process, and the machine will from what I have read and believe go into DFU mode, but it stops with error 21. I am a Noob and have googled and googled for a week now with no luck. I have tried the reinstallation of Itunes, all the updates to both Itunes and the machine, no security software, the works. I tried connecting it to older son's laptop running Win 7 which he uses for his Ipod 2g 32 gig without problems. My device was recognized on his machine, and he said on his Itunes he briefly saw songs on the device he did not have on his machine/device in his library before it hung again in the recovery mode loop. I have read different articles and tutorials on jailbreaking and tried loading just the 'oem" firmware from apple with Redsnow and thought i was successful. The device went through the process of white screen, several boots/dings of on my PC, and then an image appeared on the Ipod of "loading Jailbreak data". After a few moments/minutes it then began what I believe is displaying the "verbose" booting running the lines of text on the screen. I then notice it to stop and give me an error of something to the affect of init failed, and then a "lan error, watchdog timeout, giving up, a long pause, then quick scrolls down the screen and reboot back to white screen. Holding the power button or home/power button puts it right back to a black screen and in the Itunes recovery mode loop/error 21 again. Can anyone please help me resolve this issue before I pull what's left of my hair out. I would love to get this working for my daughter before her birthday. Thanks in advance to anyone who helps.

Common, no one has any ideas? Well, don't know if this will help, but here's some new data to process. I noticed that when I was trying to load the firmware with Redsnow w/o installing any options to include Cydia I got errors displayed on the Ipod such as WMR NAND format invalid; NANDLegacyFTL failed. Someone has got to know something. I would appreciate any ideas or thoughts from anyone with any idea. Thanks

Screen is blank and won't connect to computer

My 120gb Ipod classic screen went blank during play back of a song when i was trying to skip back to the start of the track. The screen remained blank and all controls (ie. menu, pause etc) did nothing. The song played to the end then; nothing. The battery should have been full as i had previously been playing it on a dock which charges it, then when I connected it to my mac book it didn't appear in itunes or on the desktop. I left it for about 4 hours to see if charging it would help but still nothing.
Any suggestions?

Have you tried to Reset the iPod -
Toggle the HOLD switch, make sure you don't see any red at the switch.
Press Menu and Center button for about 10 secs till the Apple logo comes ON, then select your prefered language.
If you are on Mac, then the problem is not iPod resource hogging by the Antivirus.
Yours is most probably hardware due to a dying iPod Hardisk or Battery.
Battery
On standalone, (not using the iPod docking station) how long does the battrey last? Should be 36 hours on full charge, when new, but if it has been on the Docking station for 2 years, the battery would be at its max recharge cycle, and would last a few hours only or less.

For hardware issues like battery or hardisk, the community can't help you, so you got to bring it in to Apple or 3rd Party vendor for hardware replacement.
