Screen brightness wont change

HI
For my HP Pavilion 15-e017tx.
It was working fine till yesterday. But today when i tried to change screen brightness it wont change.
I did it from the special keys provided for it and also from the windows mobility center.
Tried to change the Power plan as well.
Restarting the system also didnt help.
Please let me know what to do about it.
Thanks

Try doing System Restore to a previous good state, at least 24-hours before the problem started:

my ipod has a blank white screen and wont change no matter what i press or try.. what do i need to do?

    Try here:
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
If you can't turn it off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for at least an hour try again.
If still problem  that indicates a hardware problem an an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • My macbook brightness wont change

My macbook's MagSafe power adapter recently melted through the wire, ive just gone to my local apple reseller and spent £65 on a new one. upon plugging in my charger, the macbook has come back to life but it is on the lowest brighness setting (which basically means the screen might as well be off). when i press the brightness up button, you can see the brightness meter changing but no affect to the screen.
    any ideas people?

You might try to reset the SMC (System Management Controller) and/or PRAM (Parameter Random Access Memory). Mac OS X: What's stored in PRAM?

  • Screen brightness not changing after update to windows 10

Hello, After updating to windows 10, I am no longer able to adjust the screen brightness at all.  It is stuck on the brightest setting at all times; which is inconvenient when I am on battery power and need it dimmed. The f2 and f3 buttons are not working to adjust the brightness, and I am unable to change it in power/power plan settings. I attempted to search for a possible missing driver that I had maybe lost upon updating, but there are yet no drivers for my product on the HP website for this purpose. Any help on this matter is extremely appreciated, as it is rather frustrating that I can't change my screen brightness. Thanks.

How about using the snipping tool to create an image of what you do see and posting it here.  The snipping tool is what I used to create the image that I posted.  What version of Windows 10 is installed?  I upgraded to Windows 10 Pro on the Omen 15 and have the Enterprise version on one of my desktop systems. I have not yet used the HOme or Education versions, so I do not yet know which features they lack.

  • Screen brightness not changing

I recently formatted my system with windows 8 64-bit and after installing all the drivers, my screen brightness doesnt change

    Hi GregA_154,
Try reinstalling your graphics drivers from your ProBook 4540s driver page.  If that doesn't work then you have two options.  You can try the Commercial Notebook forum because your model is a commercial product to see if anyone there has anything additional for you to try.  The second option would be to contact HP.  You can contact HP Total Care at 1-800-474-6836 in North America or start here if you live outside of North America.

  • Windows 8.1 HP AMD laptop gets very hot and brightness wont change from max

Hi i recently bought a laptop off my friend because my computer was very hard to read and i needed something smaller, it is only a year old and has a AMD A10 processor. Yesterday we recently tried to factory reset it and reinstall back to windows 8.1 to wipe data, we had a bit of a problem and it took a few hours due to the blue screen problem but i finally got it to boot, after installing windows i have noticed there was barely any programs on the computer except for internet explorer, i also noticed the brightness was on maximum and would not change from there i press the buttons adn the slider will go down but it wont actually change, this makes it very uncomfortable for eyes to read at night or in a dark room. i am also noticing that on the left hand side near the fan the laptop gets very very hot much hotter than my old intel i5 hp laptop, could you please help with these issues ASAP as it is driving me crazy and he wont even take the laptop back until i can fix the overheating and brightness issues. thanks very much

i believe the model number is 15-n268sa

  • Screen brightness& colour change.

    Hi.
    I have 2 imacs - a 24" inch (purchased Nov 2007 (Aluminium version)) and a 21" inch iMac (Purchased Summer 2009).
Since I've owned it, the smaller 21" imac has an extremely annoying and noticable colour and brightness difference when the screen is tilted up/down or turned left/right, similar to an old laptop screen.
As a photographer, this makes editing photos almost impossible. Unless I'm sat in exactly the same position for every single photo, and the imac isn't moved, even viewing the same image can be totally different.
Is this normal? My 24" imac (2 years older) doesn't do this at all.
I do have Apple Care, so should I get it booked in and checked? The screen issue makes using it for work very difficult.
Can anyone shed any light on this? (Bad joke, sorry!). Thanks.

    Hi LBS
It's right there in the Spec's, the 24" Display has a greater viewing angle.
    The Mid 2007 spec's > http://support.apple.com/kb/SP16
    The Early 2009 spec's > http://support.apple.com/kb/SP507
Then the Late 2009 > http://support.apple.com/kb/SP576 where the 21.5 is suppose to have the better viewing angle, but I dough that it is as good as the earlier 24" or 27" models.

  • Random changes in screen brightness

I just bought a New GT72 last Monday , and today i notice that when i watching video with full screen my screen brightness suddenly changes to darker and when i close my full screen , it became brighter .Anythings that can i adjust ?

Battery saver will sometimes kick in and lower the screen brightness when the laptop is not plugged into electrical plug. If you would rather not plug your laptop in then just press down on the FN key just to the left of the ALT key and then press the up or down arrow to adjust your screen brightness. thanks

  • New 17" MacBook Pro Brightness always changing

Just got a brand new MacBook Pro. Like it but the screen brightness keeps changing and its driving me nuts! Often the lights on the back lit keyboard come on and off, for apparently no rhyme or reason. Crazy. Anyone know what's going on? Or how to turn off auto-brightness, or lower its' sensitivity to light changes? This is ridiculous.
    Thanks,
    Jeff

hummm....even after turn the "Automatically adjust brightness as ambient light changes" the lights that backlight my keyboard continue to blink often!! Often several times in a row....on/off/on/off!
It appears the keyboard back lighting is controlled separately from the screen, as I suppose it might be.
Ahhh......yes in the Keyboard control panel you can turn off "Illuminate keyboard in low light conditions"....and manually set the back lighting with the F5 and F6 keys. Ok, new stuff to learn about that was not on my old PowerBooks

  • Pureview 808 - Need constant screen brightness: Ho...

On the Nokia 808, even though the screen brightness is set to a predefined brightness and Power Saving mode is Off, the screen brightness can change at times.  The time limit for the backlight is set at 60 seconds, but the LCD screen can dim a bit within that time.  My guess is the brightness changes in response to ambient light changes.
Its hard to adjust exposure compensation and evaluate photos for proper exposure when the LCD screen brightness changes on me.
Anyone know how to keep the LCD display brightness constant?
    Thanks in advance,
    Keith.

Wow, thank you very much!  By downloading the "Brightness" app, the screen brightness is now constant!
Now I'm able to get a handle on how much exposure compensation to use since the display isn't a variable anymore.
Also it appears that I'm not losing images when shooting in burst mode anymore.  Perhaps the change in screen brightness operation led to corrumption while the image was being saved.  Before the Brightness app, 1 out of 3 images in a burst would almost always be lost.  Its too early to know for sure.  Only time will tell if the corruption problem has been completely mitigated as  a byproduct of using the Brightness app.
    Thanks again,
    Keith.

  • [FIXED] after upgrade ACPI can no longer change my screen brightness

EDIT: never mind, it seems to of gone away now...i have no idea what happened, it stopped working randomly then started working just as randomly.....whatever...
Just yesterday i was using my laptop with arch linux with the brightness turned all the way down, as of course it saves battery
but now i turn it on today and the screen is at maximum brightness, and every time i try to change it it just says (in kernel.log) :
Sep  8 10:28:46 Polygon kernel: ACPI: Failed to switch the brightness
Sep  8 10:28:46 Polygon kernel: ACPI: Failed to switch the brightness
so...what got upgraded that broke this? does anyone else have this problem?
here is the past few days of my pacman.log: (it has some entries for kernel-my, a custom compiled kernel, but i get no screen brightness control on my custom compiled kernel, or the default arch one)

I am unable to change my screen brightness using the fn+F2/fn+F3 keys. I understand that it can still be adjusted differently but I want this way to work. Also whenever I change my volume using the fn+F7/fn+F8/fn+F9 keys, the little on-screen display doesn't pop-up any more. I would like to fix this and any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Screen brightness changes between standbys

I just received my new Macbol Pro C2D after realizing that the Macbook, just didn't have enough graphic power. And the quality of the screen was suspect, considering all f the ghosting.
But I noticed that when I start up my macbook from a sleep, the brightness often changes. The only thing i can hope it is is that the laptop is trying to be helpful by adjusting it's brightness to suit the the current envionment; because it has to have a light sensor because of the keyboard black light. But I would rather it didn't do it. Or is my laptop just broken?

This is usual behaviour and is drriven by the ambient light sensor. You can turn this behaviour off in the Displays System Preference.
