Screen capturing in Premiere Pro 2.0?

I'm looking to create a video presentation of my company's proprietary web applications and would like to capture my screen as I navigate through the pages and narrate.  I have seen other recently released video editing software that enables users to capture the current screen as video - but we have Preimier Pro 2.0 at the office.  Can I screen capture with this version or what kind of upgrade would support this feature?

What Jim points out is unfortunately all too true. Some have had success with Camtasia footage (via conversions, etc.), but many just rely on the limited editing capabilities in the current release. It's also true for Adobe's screen-cap program (name eludes me right now). There seems to be less success with that one, than with Camtasia.
Do not know if CamStudio has any editing features.
You might want to also post to the Video Lounge, as both Jeff Bellune and Curt Wrigley do video tutorials and do them well. They WILL have some ideas for you. The Lounge is for non-Adobe specific questions. Though there is a technical nature to your question, I think it will fit right in, and both are likely to see and respond to your request for info.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • Video isn't stable when capturing in Premiere Pro

Hello, I'm hoping someone can help with my problem.
I'm on a two year old Dell PC, Windows 8.
I recently installed this video capture card to work with Premiere. The card was installed properly, and the driver is up to date.
When I attempt to capture video, the video is very glitchy. Only a few frames of the video is seen in the capture window, then a black screen. The audio plays fine however. I am able to record the video, and despite not being able to see what I'm recording, it does work. After I stop recording, the full video file is available in my project folder with no glitches at all. What's going on here? Why can't I see what I'm recording?
I have verified that the card works fine in other programs. In Windows Movie Maker, I am able to view and record video no problem at all.
Any troubleshooting would be greatly appreciated.

The card description says it has 4 pin power connector... did you plug in a power supply connection?
This is more about not capturing at all, and MAY be only for Win7, but reading can't hurt

  • Unable to batch capture with Premiere Pro CC via Kona LHi

AJA's web site claims Premiere Pro CC is compatible with the Kona LHi card, but I can't get the two to work together properly. After repeated tries, I uninstalled and reinstalled everything AJA, but still no luck.
I need to batch capture DV clips from some mini-DV tapes on my Sony MVR035U tape deck.  But I also need to upconvert them from 480i to 720p60 using my Kona Lhi card. I should be able to do this with Premiere Pro CC. But the PPCC Capture window won't give me any audio feedback when I select "AJA Movie Capture" in the Capture Settings pull down menu. I only get audio feedback when I enable "DV capture" but then I'm no longer able to upconvert.
Looking forward to any feedback on this issue. Been tying all day to trouble shoot this problem.

And now with CC June 2014 you can't even capture from HDV, I need to go back to Premiere CC 2013 for that....Adobe might think tape capture is over... but it isn't totally yet...

  • Capture error premiere pro cs3

I've got an ongoing capture error in premiere pro cs3 (on Mac OSX).
At around the 9 minute mark of capturing, it stops and says 'Unknown recorder error'. The footage is still captured if I stop it straight away but lost if I leave it for a while. I'm using canon hv30 camera to capture dv footage (not hdv) and can't seem to solve it. Any suggestions?

Try a different capture utility.  VideoHelp.com will list plenty of free alternatives.  If they stumble as well, there ie likely something wrong with the tape at that spot.

  • How do you make a split-screen effect in Premiere Pro?

Is Adobe Premiere Pro the easiest way to put together footage of someone presenting to a group and somehow splitting the viewscreen to show both the presenter as recorded and their powerpoint slides in the other side of screen in synch with the video recording?

  • Can't Preview HDV Capture In Premiere Pro CS6

I can't preview my HDV footage in Premiere Pro CS6.
I know I'm not supposed to be able to see anything in the Capture Window when I'm actually capturing HDV, but it says I should be able to see my footage when I am just previewing in the Capture Window.

    Thanks Ann!
    I just figured it out.
I'm using 2 monitors in extended mode.
One is a VGA flat panel and the other is a DVI flat panel.
I had the Capture Window open on my VGA monitor.
When I moved the Capture Window to my DVI monitor, I got a preview picture.
It's funny, when I move the Capture Window from the DVI to the VGA while playing, playing stops.
And when I move it bak to the DVI, it continues to play.
Maybe because the VGA isn't digital?
Both monitos are hooked up to my GTX 470 GPU, so it seems wierd.
Any feedback on this would be welcomed.
    Thanks again!

  • Capturing with Premiere Pro CS5 & Canon Legria HV40

    Hello everyone,
I have an issue trying to capture footage from my Canon Legria HV40. My desktop operates with Windows 7 / 64bit and I use a firewire port when attempting to capture from the DV cassette on the Canon Legria HV40. After opening Premiere Pro 5 (not a trial version) I connect my camera via all the correct ports and open the capture window in the software. After setting up all my preferences for the capturing process the software recognises the camera and I am able to operate the camera from my desktop (fast forward, rewind, play etc...).
The issue starts at this point. When i press "Tape" or "Play" then "Record" to start the capturing process the camera kicks into action. However the software does not record anything from the camera.
Does anyone have any suggestions or have they come accross this issue before. Any help would be appreciated.

    MKoffy Hi,
It works just fine here, same set up, but with CS5.5.2 not older version.(5.5.1 or 5.5 did not work), other contributers spoke of a "LEGACY" driver?, I think Harm Millard he may know more than I do. We are PAL, the camera obviously works, make sure you  have camera set at 1920 x 1080 i.And the same setting in PP, however PP should automatcally set that for you.
In fact when Exporting to Tape it is amazing and starts the camera with out having the record button executed., it (the HV40 is Anamorphic at 1440 x 1080 (the limitation for Pro tape) and will record at Progressive, the pixels are rectangle not 1.0  , but the output is i). Do not save clips to another DRIVE.It is best in the RAID set up. according to Canon Specs it records at HDV 1080/50i , 1080/25i (PAL) These settings must match the set up in Premiere Pro 5.5.2 exactly.I do not set  IN or Out points, it might have been a good thing to stripe the tape in the first place as it will recognise the Indexing numbering better that way.
I must add the quality of the Export even to Blu-ray astounded me. Nearly as good as the Canon 5D Mark II 1920 x 1080p but, that was from a CF card.
    Good luck
Ps. Frankly the Premiere Pro CS5.5.2 surprised me when it recognises all that when it went to work. Because when you used Premiere Pro 1.5.1 everthing was manual, well nearly.

  • Problem with screen size in Premiere Pro CS5?

I'm making a movie in Premiere Pro CS5 and I've ran into a problem with the screen size. The source screen shows my footage in widescreen (16:9) but my project screen is playing the widescreen footage in standard size (4:3) so it is cutting off some of the footage from the screen. I would like to make my entire project standard size so how do I do that? (Most of the chopped off footage was adjusted in After Effects so does that have anything to do with it?)
Thanks for any help you can give!

The properties of the footage are:
    872 x 486
    00;00;25;00, 29.97 fps
    48000 Hz - 32-bit Float - Stereo
The properties of the sequence are:
    Editing Mode: DV NTSC
    Timebase: 29.97 frames/second
    Video:
    Frame Size: 720 horizontal 480 vertical 4:3
Pixel Aspect Ratio: D1/DV NTSC (0.9091)
    Fields: Lower Field First
    Display Format: 30fps Drop-frame Timecode
    Audio:
    Sample Rate: 48000 Hz
    Display Format: Audio Samples
    Video Previews:
    Preview File Format: NTSC DV
    Codec: DV NTSC
    Width: 720
    Height: 480
I'm also quite a beginner at Premiere Pro and basically all the Adobe programs, so are there any good websites (preferably free) that give good help and information for beginners like me?
    Thanks!

  • Screen size and Premiere Pro

So, I use to use Premiere Pro when I worked mostly from a desk top. I switch to PE when I got a laptop. Well, I am thinking of getting PPro again. My laptop has enough RAM and processor speed and all that - BUT it has a 13.5 inch screen. (I travel alot and need/prefer a small laptop).
Here is the question. If I go back to PPro am I going to go nuts trying to use it on such a small screen? PE works pretty well on the laptop, it's not too squished together. But PPro has so many more features and windows.
Anyone have any experience editing with PPro on a 13.5in screen (resolution 1366x768)? I could use some of the xtra features of PPro but if it is too difficult to work with on my screen I just as well stay with PE. (FYI: I contacted Adobe and they said PPro will work fine on my laptop... just condenced into a small space.)
Thanks in advance for the feedback.

  • Is it possible to live capture into Premiere Pro using a Canon 1DX DSLR?

    Hello,
We are trying to avoid capturing into the canon capture software, exporting, then importing back into Premiere Pro for editing. Is it possible just to capture directly into Premiere Pro using a Canon 1DX DSLR?
Thank you in advance for your help.
    Amanda

I have got FCE HD which I assume works in a similar way.
Go to Easy Setup and select "DV - PAL DV Converter".
When you have finished remember to return it to its original setting.

  • Capturing in Premiere Pro

Has anyone run into problems capturing video from a HD desk SDI to Premiere Pro? It cuts off after 40 minutes. Currently running Premiere on Mac tower 2013 running 10.8 Processor 2 x 2.4 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon 16RAM Graphic card  ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB. Also, what I can capture I cannot see T.C in QT player only in Premiere. Any help would be great!

    PostTech,
Yes, tc is embedded and you should be able to read it if you are using QT7 Player and choose TC in the lower left toggle in the QT player window.
