Screen Coating Wearing Off

After just under three weeks, the screen coating is wearing off. I would have been happier if they would not have had any coating on it at all. It's going to happen to everyone. Have you checked yours?

Just using your statement that it shouldn't rub off "in 3 weeks or 3 months." (i.e. if it takes 3 months to rub off, it'll always be under warranty). Unless it rubs off after the one-year warranty *on that particular serial number is up*, it's not an issue. And I'm fairly confident that if it lasts one year, it'll last two or three. The case I saw online suggested extreme usage, so it'll be interesting to see what the story is around Christmas time.

To answer your question more directly, no, it's not a major problem. All it means is your finger prints will show more easily and you'll end up cleaning the screen more often. A dry microfiber cloth works well and no need to buy any solutions.

Reflective coating wearing out

The screen on my Rev A MBA has an anti-reflective coating (finish). It is begining to wear through in a few places. Has anyone ever dealt with this situation? Is there a coating or a film that works?

The coating wears off. Google for an appropriate solvent, and be aware that the solvent is likely to cause damage to the case. Be very careful.

Anti-reflective coating on iPhone camera lense wearing off

In the past few days, I've noticed that the anti-reflective coating on my iPhone lense has begun to wear off in blotches, producing a "rainbow" effect when observed in the proper room lighting. I purchased this phone on June 30, keep it stored in a Marware Sportsuit case that completely envelopes the device, and only use iKlear to clean the device every few days.
Although this doesn't seem to affect photos shot from indoors, it does seem to be producing funny lighting "spots" when shooting outdoors.
I'm curious to know who else out there is noticing this with their iPhone and, if so and you've contacted Apple for assistance, what sort of response did you receive? Was it handled under AppleCare, did you have to send it in or was a replacement provided in-store, etc?

Yesterday I made an appt with a genius and we compared my camera with his. Pointed them both side by side at the overhead lights in the Apple Store. We could plainly see the haze on my phone most pronounced on the illuminated signs that say 'Kids', 'Peripherals' or whatever.
The genius said it would have to be sent for repair or replacement - he wasn't sure of course whether they would actually replace the lens or just send me a new iPhone. I'm guessing they'll just send me a new one though b/c it would seem pretty crazy for them to actually repair it. I haven't looked at disassembly photos of the iPhone but maybe the lens cover is part of the back metallic case cover and can be easily swapped out?
Either way I'm sure they'll take care of it. I did get a loaner iPhone and had some minor issues getting that going but that's another story.
Another note - while waiting in the store I checked out another customer's iPhone that was bringing his in for some other problem looked at his lens and it had spots on it that wouldn't come off as well.
While I have the loaner I'm going to experiment with applying some sort of screen protector material to cover the lens so I'm ready to preserve mine when it comes back!

Black coating on MPR wearing off

The black coating on the top left of my MBP Retina 13" late 2013 is wearing off. I also seem to be getting small dots on the screen: Are these what are being called "pixel explosions". Why are these things happening? As there does not seem to be any cure for this and I do not have Applecare, can anyone tell me the kind of replacement costs involved?

IPhone 5 screen wearing off and battery doesn't work properly.

I've started having this issue almost from the start. It's wearing off from the bottom right side of the phone and even my battery drains faster + the bar shows wrong percentage. My phones warranty is also void now + I couldn't take it to the Apple Store for replacement cause there's no Apple store in my country. anyway my bro is going to Norway after 2weeks so he'll take my phone to the Apple Store to see if they'll fix it for free or replace the device. Do you guys think if they will resolve the issue?

First, the phone can only be serviced in the country where it has been bought. And, given the age and use of the phone, it might be time to get the battery replaced by Apple or an Authorized Apple Service Provider. T440 external wearing off

Unbelievable! After 1 day of usage (about 3 hours) , I found the external edges of body completely discolored. Looking the locations, it sounds like the wearing off has been due to the palms of my hands but I have never experienced something like that and I am thinking what can be happened. Probably, in the evening, I smeared my hand and arms with one oh those anti mosquitoes spary to reject those annoying mosquitoes and soon after I set to work with this laptop. But I am not sure... I do not belive the spray can be the culprit but really, I do not know what to think about... this accident is so odd. Anyway, please do you haveome ideas to repaint those areas? What product can I use for a similar job? Just to improve a little bit those unaesthetic areas.

this is probably due to the chemicals in the mosquito repellant reacting with the surface coating on the ThinkPad.

Plastic coating tears off after one month light use

Does anyone have problem with the coating (the plastic edge that goes around the front screen rathet than the sides) coming off or peeling after couple months of using? Purchase mine a month ago in early October and notice both bottom corners paint/coating peeled off or came off. It made this almost brand new phone looks undoubtfully cheap! Trying to mediate with the local customer service, but they claim the damage is caused by scratches which is not bound by Sony warranty but my phone is abosolutely scratch free everywhere around where the peeled coating area is. So frustrated as I sold my Sony Z2 to get this and didn't expect such cheap quality compare to the aluminum housing Z2 had.
Please share if you had similar experience and it would be great if someone from Sony Global can respond to this. Not happy at all and probably will not pick another Sony phone especially those with the plastic coat on!

Thanks. Sony CS showed me one of this printout as their "evidences" showing the coat wore off was caused by scratches. To me the plastic coat looks like it got heated up (by the phone or either my firmed grip?) and stretched (there are white stretches mark circled by me that looks more like its been torn off rather than scratched off).
I am not convinced as there are little or no physical scratch mark on the screen especially when I have a protective sticker on which picked up little or no scratches, while it shows no scratches at all on the side bezel. Moreover, the way CS described it as they used their machine to estimate and confirm the peeling were caused by scratches and when I asked them to show me evidence of stats they say they are unable to provide, which sounds completely ballic.
I demand them to run a heat test on the phone to see if it affects the plastic coating meanwhile and ask them to provide relevant stats to back their finding on the so called scratch marks they claimed... will see what happened in a couple of days.

Screen coating no longer effective

The screen coating on my 3GS, originally so effective at rejecting fingerprints, has lost its inability to do so. Is there a treatment that can be applied to the screen that will restore this ability, or would I be better off just getting a screen protector?

I had the same thing happen to my 3GS but it was after just two months of usage last August. Since it was so soon after release, Apple just gave me a new one. According to the warranty though, it states that it will not cover this but I would still take it to the Apple store just in case.
I have been using a screen protector on mine ever since the replacement.

Touch Pad Button Paint or Coating coming off

Hey all,
I just got brand new T410 about two weeks ago and I love it except I have just recently noticed that the paint or coating on the touchpad buttons is already wearing off. What is my course of action, I dont really feel like shipping the computer in to lenovo to get fixed cause I use it for work and dont feel like risking any shipping mishaps, is this something that can replaced easily by myself and lenovo can send me the two buttons, or does the whole touchpad unit need to be replaced? Thanks for the help

can you post a picture of this? There shouldn't be any paints as such that can wear off on the Touchpad buttons.
If it is in need of replacement, it has to be done at the depot or onsite by a technician (if you have onsite warranty), since the T410 palmrest is one fixed unit with the keyboard bezel....

I leave it charging until it gets back to full, usually it turns on after a little bit of time after plugging it in, but all its doing is going to the apple logo screen and going blank again.

My Smart Cover is causing the aluminum to wear off/ipad crashing

About two months ago, I noticed my Smart Cover started to wear the aluminum off. The spot is getting bigger and there are others areas now where it is wearing off. On an unrelated not, my iPad crashes apps ALL the time! Even after resetting it. My one year warranty expired in June 2013.

No one addressed those Apps crashing....
I had a problem with Pages and another Apps crashing all the time. The advice was to delete the App (data is not effected) and then re-download via wifi from the store in purchases (no charge of course).
It fixed my problem apps.
If this doesn't fix the Apps then the iPad itself may need to be restored.
PLEASE! do a good backup to a computer first! Save stuff to dropbox, reduntant backups are okay!
Then restore to factory and then setup as new with backup.

When FT is full screen, camera goes off when swiping to a different app

When FT is full screen, camera goes off when swipping to a different app or the desktop. This is frustrating to the other person. We were having a discussion and I said I wouls look it up and when I swipped to Safari, the camera went off. It makes the other person think the connection has been lost. Anywhere to report issues like this to Apple?

In reading other threads, I found a few that recommend a hard reset to solve the issue. I have tried it, and thus far haven't expereienced the problem again. Hopefully that's it then

Try this now.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
