Screen damage fixable?

I was looking at an eBay listing and saw a Macbook with minor screen damage.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190839739110&ssPageName=ADME: X:RTQ:US:1123
This is the listing. I was wondering if it was possible that the damage is fixable.
EDIT: Looks like LCD damage btw.

Certainly the entire scree can be replaced but I would get a quote from an Apple store first.  I do not see it as an inexpensive repair.
Ciao.

  • IPhone screen turned white- looks like screen damage but no damage has been done

I turned my phone off because my Whatsapp was being weird. And when I went to turn my phone back on my screen was white/grey with a couple of faded vertical lines. The corners of the screen look darker and it looks like screen damage. The phone is still on just the screen isnt working, I have tried restarting but a number of times but this hasnt worked. Had loads of problems with my iPhone, anyone had anything similar happen?

Give it a couple of gentle "spanks" across the back of it. If this doesn't solve it, back up and restore via iTunes. If the problem continues, restore as a new device and test. If the problem is solved, there is some kind of corruption in your backup file or maybe it's one of your apps causing problems. If it continues, take it to an Apple Store for evaluation of a possible hardware problem.

  • N73 USB connectivity, screen damaged but need pics

i hope someone can help get pics of my 4 month old of the fone.
my N73 has screen damage and i need to get pics etc of it. has someone get a step by step pic guide?
i tried using nokia pc suite, but it hangs in 'get connected'
do i have to press buttons on the phone?
i would very much appreciate any help.
    thanks,
    Aky

    Hi akyahmed
Not familiar with N73 but other "N" series using PC Suite. When you connect USB connectivity cable, it will want confirmation of mode on phone so try pressing top left key above the green call one to "select" and see if establishes connection.
I am assuming that PC Suite mode will be top of the available mode options, but in this I might be corrected.
Happy to have helped forum in a small way with a Support Ratio = 37.0

  • HT1863 Does AppleCare cover screen damage?

Hi does anyone know if AppleCare covers screen damage?

ONLY Apple Care Plus covers accidental damage, which is how a broken/cracked screen is defined.
If you have apple care plus then you can take yours in, pay the service fee (I've seen $49 as the fee) and walk out with a replacement device (may or may not be refurbished). You are allowed 2 instances of accidental damage replacement.
If you don't have apple care plus then what you get is the out of wrranty replacement, the fee for that starts at 219 for a mini and 299+ for the newer ipads

  • Why iPhone 6 screen damage is not repaired in India?

Yesterday I accidentally dropped by iPhone 6 Grey 64 GB phone. The phone was working fine but I got cracks on screen. I went to Maple, Mumbai which is Apple Authorised Service Provider. They said they can't repair it and I have to Rs. 25150/- ($405) and they will get be replacement phone. I checked website and it says the cost of screen repair is only $109 which I found on https://www.apple.com/support/iphone/repair/screen-damage/ . I shown them this link, on which they said they don't repair the phone in India and here I have to go for replacement. I bought this phone just three months back in Rs. 62500 ($1000) and now I have to shell out $405 coz they can't repair the phone in India. What is the point of having service center if they can't repair it.
It's nightmare for Apple customer if their phone gets damaged accidentally in this country. I will be cautious now to buy any new apple products ever.

Not all features are available in India. Read here:

  • Does anyone happen to know if this kind of screen damage is fixable or do I need to start saving up to buy another iPhone

Accidentally I dropped my iPhone and the screen kind of came off and it was, bulky, then I pushed it against the phone "back in place" and apparently everything was ok, after a month of the accident, some white lines started to appear vertically, and the screen started to black out, so I went to a non-certified Apple store where they could fix it and they gave it back to me and they said they changed the screen so I was happy it was working fine again but after half an hour of use, the same thing happened and the white lines suddenly became kind of black or gray, so I took it back to the store. They said they accidentally installed a non-original screen so I was really ****** and asked for my money back but they insisted on changing it again but this time, installing a original screen so it was back to me but this time it only worked fine for about ten minutes and suddenly, the same black/grayish vertical lines appeared so I come to you if maybe someone does happen to know if this kind of damage is fixable by changing the screen in an official Apple Store or if it is definitely broken. I attach an image of how does my iPhone look. Appreciate all the helpful answers.

No, as I already said, they will not.  They will not repair or replace any Apple device that's even been opened by anyone else.
In this case, the morons who butchered your phone caused a lot more damage than the broken screen.
You should have taken it to Apple for service in the first place.

  • HP Envy 15 Heating Issues and Screen Damage

    Hello,
This is going to be quite long since I'm going to explain everything in as much detail as possible.
I bought my HP Envy 15 (j123tx) in September 2014 and for three months I had absolutely no issue with it (work wise and gaming wise) until one day I booted up the computer and noticed that a big rectangular portion of the screen (on the top - in the rectangular area that aligns with the touchpad when the lid is closed) was discoloured. Specifically it was much darker than the rest of the screen on a black background and yellow on a white background.
After checking to see if there was anything on the screen's surface, I realized it was a hardware issue and decided to use my warranty (of which I have another 8 months or so remaining). I told the retailers about the issue and they told me it could be because of the pressure applied on the lid (when it is closed) that affects the screen specifically in that area since the touchpad is a bit sunken in to the notebook's body. After expressing my displeasure at how inconvenient that is since I've taken very good care of my notebook and have only transported it in the HP notebook bag, they promised me that they would send it to the HP Service Center in Sri Lanka who would replace the display panel for me (obviously since my notebook is still under warranty).
After 10 working days, I went over to the retailer's warranty center and collected my notebook with the display panel replaced and the problem gone. I did however notice that the technicians had pasted a note next to the touchpad which read "Check  the temperature of the touchpad. It could be heating up and damaging the screen". I asked the retailer's technicians what this meant and they told me that since the notebook has a magnesium (or magnesium based) body, it tends to heat up. The heat could also be heating up the touchpad (since that too seems to be made of magnesium). As a result whenever I close the lid of my notebook, the rectangular screen area directly above the touchpad could be heating up and thus getting damaged.
Now this to me seems like a huge product defect. I've been using HP notebooks for more than 8 years and I've never heard of this issue before. I asked the technicians how I could prevent this from occurring again and they told me to use the little cloth that came with the laptop when I bought it that is placed under the lid (between the screen and the keyboard) when the lid is closed.
While using that little cloth doesn't seem to be quite inconvenient, I'm very afraid that the problem will occur again and I'll have to get it fixed again which involves transferring all my data and losing my notebook for 2 weeks which is highly problematic for me as I require it for work. Should the problem occur again outside the warranty period, I feel I may have wasted a good amount of money on this notebook when I trusted HP over its competitors simply due to my past experiences with its reliability, durability and performance.
While I realize this is not a current issue - I would really like to know if this issue has been experienced before (my search did not turn up anything related) and if I do have to be worried about it happening again and if so, how I should go about handling it with the retailers (perhaps I should give it back and ask for a refund for selling me a defective product).
    Thank you sincerely.
PS: I have attached a picture of the problem when it occurred for your reference.

Thanks for the prompt reply WeiH.
Sadly there doesn't seem to be an HP Service Center in my country (Sri Lanka). So now I'm really confused as to what my retailer's technicians meant by "we'll send it to the local HP Support Center and have your display panel replaced".
Whatever they did, the display panel has been replaced and I've been using it for less than a week so far with no issues. The touchpad hasn't really been heating up and has in fact been as warm as the rest of the notebook. Perhaps it's because I have now turned on the option of disabling the touchpad whenever an external cursor device is attached (since I primarily always use a mouse).
Needless to say, since we both have no clue as to how the touchpad overheated and damaged the screen (in the exact position and measurement as the touchpad) I feel like it's just a matter of time before it happens again.
Obviously I understand that there's little you can do on your side other than direct me to an HP Support Center. However I hope my worries are justified as I feel that as a consumer I shouldn't have to worry about my brand new product malfunctioning by no fault of my own.

  • Macbook Pro screen damage - dust melted in

    Hi
I used my Macbook Pro retina intensively and it gets hot. I also use it on location all the time so it's subject to dust. I have a brush and I always make sure thats it's dusted down.
Today I cleaned my screen and noticed that there is what looks like dust particles actually melted into the screen on the area surrounding the trackpad. The par that goes over the trackpad is perfect and it's shap outline can clearly be seen on the screen and the damage outlines it.
When I run my nail over it it feel rough while the area that covers the trackpad is smooth, so too is the area that covers the keyboard. Adding to that I dots from the edges of some of the keys that have done the same thing.
I'm pretty sure this is not normal and this is already my second screen because my first was replaced less that a year ago because of ghosting.
What should I do? Do you think Apple will replace it?

I also use it on location all the time so it's subject to dust.
    What should I do?
For your needs I would think you need to consider switching to getting a Sager 17" 1080 HD anti-glare with Windows 7 instead.
Not only are 3D gamers computers more graphics and CPU powerful, up to 32GB of RAM as well, but they can be opened by the user to clean the dust out of the cooling fins.
They also allow for multiple internal drives etc. for more of a portable workstation purposes.
Apple has been steadily decreasing hardware performance in their portable line, only provides one top end 15" model with more powerful dedicated graphics when last models all 15" had that option.
Also Apple has sealed the newer machines up, so one can't open them and remove the fans to clean the cooling fins.
If the cooling fins are not cleaned often in dusty environments, it greatly shortens the working life of the machine.
Severe dusty environments can be considered a "user inflicted damage" by Apple which isn't covered by AppleCare or warranty, much like liquid spills are also not covered.
My previous 15" was used on many locations in the field, after only a year, when I started experiencing problems and Apple couldn't fix, I took upon myself to open the machine and see the cause of the problem myself.
The coolin fins were half choked up with debris, hindering the exhaust and slowly cooking the video graphics as it's the hottest part of the machine.
Clearing the debris didn't work, the heat damage already occured.
Mac's are designed for lite clean office like uses only, nearly all, except the MacPro, are not designed for heavy duty use and adequate heat removal.

  • Running MBP 15 with lid closed and external screen = damaging screen?

I connected an external screen to my laptop with the lid closed and woke it up through my external keyboard. I am vaguely remembering reports stating that heat is vented through the keyboard as well as through the vents in the back.
Does that mean that running the laptop with the lid closed is damaging the machine or specifically the screen?

    No, it's fine.

  • Neither camera or screen damaged, grey circles appear in all photos. Any fix?

When i take a photo the images have grey circles appear, and also a red mark. I can zoom and turn photos and the marking move with what i'm doing so it isn't the screen. I have checked the camera from the outside, and even taken it to my local o2 store who i purchased the phone from and they cannot see any damage to the exterior of the phone. Any ideas on a way to fix this?

if you take a picture with the front camera does it do the same?  assuming your using the back camera.

  • How to unlock iphone when screen damaged

m iPhone5 has been damaged and can only displays half the screen (the other half is 'gone/ black'), thus can not display full screen to unlock phone. Want to backup the 'damage' phone content to MacBook, but iTune requests phone must be unlocked first. Any solution?

I managed to get a replacement of a 'service conditional' iPhone5 for AUD $244.55 + 10%GST, given the device was still under the warranty, from the Sydney Apple store.
Note, even the servicing guy was unable to unlock the 'damaged' phone (and they do not handle data) and I have to fall back to the last backup.

  • Dropped Ipod Mini/Screen Damaged

I dropped my Ipod Mini and the screen is partially damaged. I would like to get this repaired. I do have the Apple Protection Plan but not sure if this would be covered.
Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Blair

    No, it is not covered.
If Apple would even repair it, they usually charge $209 plus shipping plus tax.
