Screen Died, Need to Save Data. Help?

Hello,
The screen on my macbook air died. The computer seems to be working fine though. Only problem is I have no way to see what I'm doing to try and move the data from my macbook air to one of my other computers.
I've tried to use a USB adapter to connect it to an external monitor, but with no luck. I also tried to put it in some sort of 'target mode' using an ethernet wire, no luck either.
I'd really appreciate any suggestion you may have.
Thank you! ^.^

Sorry this took forever to answer, yes I gave it a go and it worked!
Thank you!

  • I need to save data on FP-2000, how can i do that?

i read measurements from FP-TC-120 and i need to save them on the fieldPoint memroy, and read it once a day,
how can i save the measurements and read them when i need?

There are various documents at the NI Developer Zone that explain how to log data in a FP-20xx controller.
These examples and tutorials explain in detail how to do this.
In general, once you have got the value from the FP I/O Module in the LV Program, you can use the File I/O VIs to save this information to disk.
Please refer to the NI Developer Zone page
    URL: http://zone.ni.com/zone/jsp/zone.jsp
and use the search engine (type the words "fp" and "log") to get the documents that explain how to log data in an FP-20xx.

  • MBP Died, Need To Recover Data, Please Help!

    Hi All,
So, my beloved MBP has bit the dust. When I turn it on, I see the sleep light turns on and hard disk activation for a second, then, nothing (the screen is always black and there is never a chime). After attempting multiple times to reset PRAM and SMC, nothing changes. So, I think my logic board may have died.
But, this is not my question. My question is the following:
I had Filevault turned on for my standard account. I also had Time Machine turned on for that account. Now, is it possible to take out the hard drive and open up the Filevault sparseimage on another Mac? If so, does it require the master password or the account password? Also, is it possible to recover my data from the Time Machine backup? And if so, how do I do that?
Please, I need to know. Years of graduate school work relies on this!

David, I'm not sure if I have an answer to your problem. But what about getting an external enclosure for the Internal HD and then connect it to another computer and boot from the now "External" HD. If that works then you can move the critical data off to another drive and then not have to worry about mounting a filevault sparceimage.

  • Help! Need to save data from field point in excel sheet!!!

    Hey colleagues,
I need help. I am writing on my diploma thesis.Main topic is to develop a visualization of a process of a process plant which is used for an internship in uni. My meain problem is that I need a vi where I can save my fieldpoint data only in special cycles. At the moment I use a vi which can only save every second in form of a while loop and a metronom. I am searching for a vi where I can choose the time between every saving step in excel. In addition to that I would like to have a boolean button where i can start/stop the saving within running process.
    please help me urgently!!!
    Marco

    Hello Marco,
    the answer
for your problem is called “Software Control Timing”.
    If a
desired time has elapsed, you can write data’s to a file.
    The explicit
timing is the timing for your while loop, e.g. 10ms.
    If a
desired time has elapsed, you get a flag from a timing-function and an
additional block of your code (e.g. a subVI) will executed.
    The set
time for the timing function is settable dynamically, while your program is
    running.
    Find the VI
in the attachment, which will provide this functionality for you.
    I hope this
VI will bring you further ahead…..
    Have nice
    day…

  • Password limit almost reached but need to save data

My wifes phone has locked up on her. She has put in her password 9 times, and because the "o" is not working and is part of her password, if she puts it in one last time and it isnt accepted its gonna be wiped.
I hasn't been synced with any of the computers we have in our house. If i try to sync it to the computer to acces some info that is only on the phone, will I be able to retrieve it or will I lose everything?

If, when you tether to the PC, you enter the password correctly via the PC keyboard, then the counter will reset back to 0 and you will be able to take that backup. If you are not successful when you tether, then it will wipe clean. The counter is the same regardless of entry via the BB keyboard or the PC keyboard (when tethered).
    Good luck!

Persistent project data needs to be stored in sequence data, NOT in global data or frame data.
Take a look at the examples from the SDK and also the manual, it is explained quite well in there:
    GLOBAL, SEQUENCE, AND FRAME DATA
After Effects allows plug-ins to store data at three scopes; global, sequence, and frame. Consider carefully where you store information; choosing poorly can impact performance, or make your plug-in confusing to the user. Use global data for information common to all instances of the effect: static variables and data, bitmaps, pointers to other DLLs or external applications.
Store anything specific to this instance of your plug-in (UI settings, text strings, and any custom data not stored in parameters) in sequence data, Use After Effects’ memory allocation functions.
Frame data is used for information specific to rendering a given frame. This has fallen into disuse, as most machines are capable of loading an entire frame into memory at a time. Of course, your IMAX-generating users will still appreciate any optimizations you can make.
    PERSISTENCE
After Effects saves sequence data in the project file, but not global or frame data. Pointers within sequence data which point to external data are, in all likelihood, invalid upon re-opening the project, and must be re-connected. We call this process “flattening” and “un-flattening” the sequence data.

  • How ti save date/time info into .lvm

    Hi,
i need to save date/time info (Date:Time) into one .lvm together with my other signals (dynamic data). any suggestions?
it should look like this for example
    results.lvm:
    date/time signal 1 signal 2 signal 3
    01.01.2005/12:00 2.2 3.3 4.4
    01.01.2005/12:02 2.4 3.4 4.5
    01.01.2005/12:04............
and so on for every loop.
    thanx in advance

The LVM Express VI was designed to be easy to used. To facilitate this, data formats are fixed and cannot be set by the user in the Express VI. You have several options to get the format you want.
If you don't need all the header information in the LVM file, roll your own code. If you are only saving one line of code at a time, this is particularly easy. You will also need to write your own read code, assuming you are not just using Excel or something similar.
Use the formatting capabilities of your analysis program to create the date code. Excel, for example, is perfectly happy to generate a time/date string based on a simple number. You may have to convert from LabVIEW absolute time to Excel absolute time, but that is fairly trivial. You can make a macro to do this.
If you need the LVM header info, write the file using no data to get the header, then fill in your data with your own formatting. Read-back will be harder, since you will need to write that yourself. However, you can probably get most of the info from the LVM file read (maybe with an error), then read your own formatted data from the end of the file.
WARNING: this one dives into vi.lib code. While you cannot change the formatting in the top level of an LVM file, the subroutines do take formats on a per-column basis. So, you can modify the original code to do what you want. Open the front panel, then search for ex_SignalsToSprdsheetStr.vi. Give it the format string you want and you are off. Note that this format will be in place everywhere you use the LVM code unless you save the entire hierarchy to a different location (using Save With Options->Development Distribution, include vi.lib files). Be very careful with this. You can easily get into cross-linking problems (linking VIs from the wrong location).
One final comment. You can find the specification for the LVM file format in Specification for the LabVIEW Measurement File (.lvm), Version 1.0. It includes everything you didn't want to know about the LVM file format.

  • Screen broken. Help needed to retrieve data.

    Hello.
I hate to be a pain, however recently I broke the screen of my Nokia N97 Mini (both display and touch are broken. completely buggered I'm afraid)
The keypad still works, however, I just can't see anything.
Now I've just ordered a Lumia 900, however before it arrives I want to figure out how to transfer all my text messages, contacts and so on from the old phone to the new one. Does anyone have any suggestions? Places I should go or accessories I could buy?
I know that when I moved from my E72 to the N97 there was a program which did it all for me, does the Lumia come with the same program, and if so, how do I access the N97 side of things without a screen? Thanks again for any help.
    Jess.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Essjay32,
    Welcome to Nokia Support Discussions!
What you could do is to install the latest Nokia Suite beta, which can upload your contacts to Skydrive. When you get your Lumia 900, you can just use that Microsoft account as your main account and the contact data should be there waiting for you. Unfortunately, it is not possible to transfer your messages to a Lumia phone, you can however store your existing messages on Nokia Suite.
When connecting your phone to your computer (using a USB cable), press the menu button, as it will set up your phone in Nokia Suite mode. After this you should be able to access your phone data and upload it to Skydrive.
    Hope this helps!

  • P35 Neo2 - OS died, need help restoring RAID after re-install of XP

I have a P35 Neo2 with on-board Intel RAID.  I need a bit of help getting a two drive RAID going again after reinstalling XP.
    Here's my situation:
Same hardware, MB, etc. I originally set up the system with a 20gb IDE and two 320gb SATA drives. I put the OS on the 20gb, and set the two 320's up as a RAID. I partitioned the 320's into 200gb + 120gb sections on each drive. The 200gb partitions were mirrored between the two drives, and the remaining 120gb on each drive was used as non-RAID storage space.
I picked up a nasty virus-spyware a month or two ago that I was struggling to find a fix for when the OS began to BSOD. I put the 20gb IDE to the side, and put a 40gb IDE in it's place. I re-installed XP on it last night, and now need to get the RAID up and running again.
I went into Disk Management and it showed three dynamic drives with a yellow triangle icon and labeled 'foreign'. I right clicked and found an option to 'import'. I clicked on import and a window popped up showing all of the partitions and logical drives I had previously created on the two drive RAID. I figured I was in business, so I clicked OK.
Disk Management now shows one dynamic disk as 'Online', but still shows two as 'Foreign'. If I right click on them, and chose import, I get the same window showing my partitions and logical drives, but if I click OK, I get a warning message that: "Some of the volumes you are importing will lose data because you have not moved all of your disks to the system."
I'm in over my head at this point, so any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    GeoD

A 200gb partition is restored, but the 120gb is not, which is confusing. ALso, when I look at the logical drives in the partition, I'm beginning to think I had the 200gb mirror /120 gb storage backwards. The data restored is not something I would be concerned with losing. It's installed applications, and multimedia files that I could lose without worry.
There is also 70gb dynamic drive labeled Missing.  I know I left a small portion of all three of the drives unallocated as a reserve, so that must be what this is. It's like the RAID info is incomplete which leads me to the next piece of info.
Something I didn't initially mention for the sake of brevity, was when I right-clicked on 'Import Disk' the applet noted the disk was 3/3. I assumed that meant disk 3 of 3 disks. I've since begun to wonder if I imported the disks in the wrong order. ie) I should have imported disk 1/3 first.
Do you know how to clear out Disk Mgt's info, so I can start over?
I also noticed only one of the 320 SATA's shows up in Device Mgr, (DM). What I found both confused me and encouraged me.
When I created the array, I named the the drives RAID0 and RAID1. They both show up in DM. But only one of them shows up as the drive model: WDC WD3201ABYS-01B9A0. There should be two of them.
The OS knows there should be a RAID, but for some reason only one of the drives show up as hardware.  I rebooted and checked the data and power supply cables, (connected), the BIOS, (both drives show up) and both drives show up in Disk Mgt.  Just not in DM.
Does that mean the HD has died?
Part of my difficulty is I had a brain injury in 2001, followed by another in 2003. The 2nd injury caused 6 months of what the docs call it a walking coma - I walked and talked, but have no memory of the time.
When I 'woke up' in the Fall of 2003, I found I had lost considerable cognitive function and other problems.  These problem have ended up disabling me, (I'm now on SS Disability).
Until then I had been a 'System Admin' for micro-businesses, (max - 15 computers). I built systems and servers, installed networks, maintained them and did all the support. Basically I was these company's Sys Admin on an as-needed basis.
One thing I lost was the ability to troubleshoot and repair hardware. Combined with other cognitive problems, I was forced into closing my business. At the time, I was maintaining close to fifty offices; ~20 had Peer-to-Peer networks & ~20 had servers I had built.
What's doubly frustrating is I was just getting ready to sign up with an online backup service when I got hit with a nasty malware/virus that's so new there's no info on the 'net about it. I got entangled in trying to fix it and spaced out the online back up. Now I find myself in a situation where I desperately need to restore the data on these RAID drives.  Because of the memory problems I now have, I completely depend on my computer as an auxiliary 'brain' - I have stuff on these drives that I have to have.
I didn't do much with RAID when I was still in the biz, and this is the first time I've had problems with a RAID of my own, so I'm struggling to figure this stuff out.
Should I be able to install one of these drives by itself so I can get the data from it? The way I understand the theory of RAID is that if one drive dies, you can put another in and the mirrored portion will re-create itself on the new drive.  Couldn't that be a way to get the important data off the drive or drives if they don't want to go back together as a RAID?
I could back each up to the online service and then just rebuild them.  Not my first choice, but it would reduce my stress level if I thought I could do it.
Sorry to go on, but now you can see why I'm both struggling & worried.
Thanks for any info or help.
    Later,
    GeoD

  • I have a late 2008 Macbook Pro last updated to Mavericks OS.  The screen died and it's not worth replacing.  How do I remove the hard drive and use a drive sled to access info I need?

I have a late 2008 Macbook Pro last updated to the Mavericks OS.  The screen died and I took it into an Apple store and was told replacing the screen and the hardware to repair everything would cost almost as much as buying a new laptop or a cheaper model.  I was told that I can use a drive sled to access data I need on my hard drive. How do I remove my hard drive and use a drive sled to get to the information I need?  What makes matters more complicated is I need to update my iPhone and my iTunes/App store purchases.  How can I accomplish this?
My wife has a late 2008 Macbook Pro as well, which I am assuming I need to run my hard drive.  Is there a way to just access just my hard drive without interfering with hers?
I know this is lengthy.  Thanks to whoever looks at this and offers advice/instruction.

the device you need is an External enclosure for a 2.5" (laptop form factor) SATA drive.
A USB-interface enclosure will be slow, but is adequate for this task and for re-purposing as a backup drive later.  A firewire-interface drive would be faster, but is harder to find, more expensive, and faster than needed for this purpose.
The drive will mount as an "extra" drive on your wife's Macbook, and you can drag and drop whatever you wish. You could create a separate Account for yourself on her computer, and use Migration Assistant or just copy your stuff over to the new account. Then it would not interfere with her files.

  • Blue Screen on Satellite P100 - need to recover data

On switching on my laptop yesterday I was faced with a blue screen error message which even after running chkdisk keeps on appearing, even when rebooting in safe mode.
The problem is I only have Toshiba recovery disks (not an XP disk - XP was pre-installed on the laptop) and they say on them using the recovery disk wipes the computer and I need to recover data on the hard drive before reformatting.
I've taken the laptop to the local repair centre and they say they have to reformat and dont do data recovery.
    Any suggestions gratefully received.

Thanks very much for your replies and apologies for the delay in replying but I have only just managed to get my laptop reconfigured and get back online!!!
I took the laptop to the local Toshiba repair centre and they ran some tests and said that there was no problem with the hardware. However, when I took the machine to a specialist company to get the data recovered they reported 'serious errors in the file allocation table'. They managed to recover most of my data but when the hard drive was re-formatted the problems returned so I had to purchase a new hard drive which wasnt cheap.
My laptop is under warranty and I am a little annoyed that they said there was no problem with the hard drive when there patently was. I would like to reocover the money from Toshiba spent on the drive. (laptop under warranty)
    Many thanks in anticipation.
