Screen dims for no reason

Hello: I have this weird problem where my thinkpad t61 screen, for no apparent reason, slowly dims almost to complete darkness, then immediately brightens up as if nothing happened. The entire process can take between 10 to 30 seconds, and I have not seen any pattern or reason why this might occur. Any suggestions to eliminate this problem would be appreciated.

hey jbautista,
i would recommend checking the power manager first, it could be a setting inside that is causing this.
another thing you can do is to uninstall the power manager. Leave it be and then see if the screen dims automatically.

Toshiba AT10LE-A - screen rotate for no reason

I've got the AT10LE-a, recently noticed the screen will rotate for no reason, it will then just stay in that position no matter what position the screen is.
The only way to reset, is to power off then put back on, but the same thing will happen sometime.
I've not done a hard reset yet.

How about the Auto-rotate screen option?
Apps -> Settings -> Screen -> Auto-rotate screen
Check the check-box to enable your screen to auto-rotate the screen in apps, Web pages, and games that support auto-rotation. This allows the screen to automatically switch the orientation of the currently viewed screen as you turn the tablet sideways or upright.

Can I disable screen dimming for accelerometer-only game?

My game uses a little touch, but during most levels just accelerometers to control it (like a marble game). After playing for a while the screen will go dim then to black if the player doesn't touch the screen. Is there anything I can do to disable this power-saving feature while the game is running?

Seriously, I have took really good care of my iPhone 6 plus and have a cover on it. Without any droping, pumping and hurt, the screen scratched And being worse. The most strangest thing is that evey day the flaw becomes more when I weak up in the morning. How can a screem be so fragile. I even did not touch it ! It drives me crazy! Can I go the store to a new one without paying ?

They probably will not replace the phone. Scratching the screen is not covered by the warranty. But they might be able to tell you where these scratches come from if you show them your device and the accessory you use with it, like the case for example.

S10-3 screen crack for no reason

Hi,
i bought my netbook S10-3 about 5 months ago.
Since then, I've been taking a very good care of my netbook.
But today when i opened it, there was a crack acroos the screen.
It was fine until yesterday on my desk, and I never dropped it nor stepped on it.
I just put it in my backpack to go to school and took out from the case, and there was a crack.
I am 100% sure there was no mechanical impact or damage to my netbook or even to my backpack.
so i called Lenovo, and they say "LCD crack" cannot be covered under warranty,
and I need to pay "$280" to replace the screen.
I don't know how this happened. Yeah. of course the screen cannot crack by itself, but still i don't understand.
Is there any way that this problem can be solved under warranty? or at least in a less expensive way?
I am a poor college student, and there is no way i can afford $280 right now.

Use iOS devices where the ambient temperature is between 0º and 35º C (32º to 95º F). Low- or high-temperature conditions might cause the device to change its behavior to regulate its temperature. Using an iOS device in very cold conditions outside of its operating range may temporarily shorten battery life and could cause the device to turn off. Battery life will return to normal when the device is brought back to higher ambient temperatures.
You seem to be outside the acceptable temperature range. It will not be covered under a warranty.

Why hasn't the crashing of iBooks been addressed? You cannot read a book as it crashes after every 3 or 4 pages, dims for no reason and changes background from white to dark. Please address our issues. Using iPad Air. Thank you

We are fellow users here on these user-to-user forums, you are not talking to iTunes Support nor Apple.
What, if anything, have you tried to see if it fixes it e.g. closing the app via the iPad's taskbar, soft-reset, turning Settings > iBooks > Online Content 'off', backing up (and copying purchases over to your computer's iTunes library) and restoring ?
For the brightness and background, what settings do you have i.e. if you open a book and tap the AA icon at the top right do you currently have 'auto-night theme' set 'on' ?

Display dims with no reasonlem occuring, then for no reason I can thihnk of

I have a 21" G5 imac. the problem is my display dims for no reason. This is an intermitant problem. I can go for long periods with out the problem then for no reason it will do it again.
It now dims after about 3 minutes starting up the computer. It does not go blank, just dims somewhat, but because I use the computer to edit photos in Photoshop it makes it unusable for photo work.
I got the computer in the Summer of 2005 and it was doing it while under warranty but since it was very infrequent I did not report the problem to Apple care. Of course it is now out of warranty.
Any ideas of what is causing the problem, and what to do?

I have a similar problem. The screen will intermittently just go dim. I also decided not to give the machine up for warranty service because it comes and goes. The screen setting always says it is at full brightness. I installed a temperature monitor program, and it seems to be heat related. If I leave the computer sit for a while and the screen to turn off, when I come back it is back to normal. I found that if I put the iMac to sleep, it would re-brighten immediately on waking up. But now the machine usually turns off if I put it to sleep, so I have quit doing that....

My video dims randomly for no reason - can't reset

I have an iMac G5 20" second generation... my problem is that my video display will randomly dim for no reason. In my settings, I do not allow it to go to sleep, display is not allowed to go to sleep, under options tab, Automatically reduce the brightness of the display before display sleep is NOT checked.
On the display tab, Brightness slider is all the way to full brightness.
Any ideas on what could be causing this?

This may sound like bad news but the only way to get past that passcode lock at this point is by doing a restore.... A recovery mode restored to be exact... http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808 Restores are the only way to be able to get past passcode locks... The restore will get the iPad back in working order for you but if you don't have a back up you will lose the information that you currently have on it... At this point your devices isn't going to allow you to make a backup because of the passcode lock.... So hopefully you have a iCloud or in iTunes backup that was made before this happened...iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes....I actually had this exact same thing happened to me

Dvd player screen dims while playing a DVD

It is happening on both my iMacs (a G4 and the new dual Intel. while watching a movie the screen dims a bit every so often and then brighten up again. Any suggestions?

thanks for checking in. I have had the other screen dim issue where the mouse needs to be moved to power the screen up full. It is not this issue. The screen dims for one second and then brightens up again on its own, too quick to know if moving the mouse would also restore the brightness. The issue happens on all movie dvds, home made or professional.
I have not tried another dvd player as this iMac is in the living room and it is front row, with it's sweet little remote, that makes the iMac our replacement for a TV. (It happens in both front row and dvd player.)
I am hoping to solve this problem rather than switch players, but fdor laughs, when I get home Monday I will download another player and see what happens, it will be an interesting experiment.

HT1695 Today for some reason my IPad won't fully connect to my iphone and tether. For instance under settings it shows next to "Wi-FiI'm connected to the Wi-Fi but at the top of the screen there is no connection symbol and in fact i am unable to load web

Today for some reason my Ipad won't tether properly. The iphone says it's connected and on the Ipad next to Wi-Fi in settings shows I'm connected but at the top left of the screen there is no connection icon and I cannot load and display web pages. My Ipad is about three weeks old and I have never had this problem before. I have rebooted but this did not solve my problem.
Any ideas?

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

So I just changed from an iphone4S to an iphone 5 because my screen didn't work any longer on the 4s but the phone itself still works so I managed to get all my contacts etc BUT for some reason I can't transfer all my music across to itunes and therefore I can't get it onto my new phone, it only transfers about 50% of it.
Then when i go into music on the iphone 5 it shows the music but won't let you play anything and just flicks through all the songs without playing anything.
Can anyone help please?

I have a MacBook Pro from 2009 and the screen randomly turns black on me for no reason while I'm using it? It takes anywhere from 5 seconds to 1 minute to turn back on and no matter what I do it just has to fix itself so idk if it is going in to sleep mode or what. Anyone know the issue? Thanks.

Run through them and stop after #16 or if the problem stops, or if something tells you something severe (like hardware test giving a error)
If you can backup your personal data off the machine, you should do that first.
Hardware issues we cant' fix, only a few things may fix it.
Software issues we can fix, but right now we don't know what is causing your issue as we can't see it obviously.
So your going through a process of elimination to try to give us a clue what's the problem and then we can advise a course of action.
If you feel this is way over your head, then just make a appointement with Apple and/or your local PC/Mac specialist.
We are only other uesrs here, helping other users.
