Screen display density variations between files

I have several files linked together as a book. For some reason the density of lineweight and fonts in one of the files "appears" lighter than the others on my monitor. With the other (7) files the lines and fonts definitely "look" heavier...
I've checked everythg I can thk of: same zoom level, both on high qual display, Normal screen modes, Display Black Accuracy is set the same in Pref, swatch colors match, lineweight same, text/font settings same... But at all (matching) zoom levels both object lines and text appear differently. The problem file looks as if the lines and text are lighter.
Proof prints in the office seem the same, but not sure if this is going to be critical for high res publication, so I hesitate continuing to work with this file even tho I have a lot of work in it.
Can anyone help me understd what the difference is in the files?

Actually not. You only have a work around.
The transparency on the problem pages may be due to the existence of one or more stray points that were orphaned when one or more line segments were deleted. I recently encountered such a case.
Proceed this way: working on a copy of the file, delete objects one by one from the problem page(s) until there seems to be nothing on the page or spread. If you still have the transparency icon for that page in the pages palette, do a select all to see if some stray points become selected, and delete them. In the case I encountered, the transparency icon immediately disappeared. upon deleting the stray points.
If that's not it, some one else step up to the plate.

Screen display garbled when downloading a file

In FF 5 I often get a garbled screen display when dowloading a file (by garbled I mean that the display is broken into numerous rectangles; the display appears to be similar to that of a driver/monitor/card not being compatible). The display will sometimes correct itself if I minimize and then maximize FF, but not always.
The problem does not occur in IE, Opera, Safari, Chrome, nor in any other program.
Could a plugin possibly be the cause? I can work around the problem simply by not using FF for downloads, but I wanted to pass along the information if it might be a bug in FF5.

Thanks for the info! Yea, I thought my video card was dying when I first saw it. The driver is the latest, and everything else looks ok too.
Over the past couple of hours I disabled all plug-ins and extensions, and still had the problem. I chose to down-grade to verison 4 which now works fine. Version 3 was also a good choice but I use the HTML validator that requires version 4 (world's absolute best add-on ever for my use).
I'm guessing that my video card isn't playing nice with FF5, so until I upgrade the card I will stick with FF4. I installed a new theme and now I'm happier than ever with FF. :)

Grey screen is displayed when loading pdf file in Adobe 11

PDF file is not loaded in the adobe reader 11. Some time I am getting the grey screen instead of the pdf file. Some time my application is displaying the message saying that It is stopped working. its happening sporadically. But if I downgrade the Adobe reader to version 9, I am not getting the above said issue. Is this the known issue with Adobe reader 11. If it is known issue, any work around is available for it. Many persons using our product got affected because of this issue. pls help me to resolve the issue. I have attached the screen shot of the issue.

I am getting blank screen even If I try open the pdf file from local desktop in the browser. But when I open the local pdf file outside browser I was not able to recreate the issue. But from my application even if I open pdf file outside the browser also (meaning in the adobe reader), I am getting screen. I have attached the screenshot of error I am getting when I try to open the local pdf file. In my task manager I am able to see many process for adobe reader. Even I close the pdf file, the process is not closing.

Chances are you are looking at the place holder of a large image. Go to the preferences and check that View Large Images is checked.

It means your computer is search for a start up volume. You need to reboot into recovery mode and attempt to repair your disk. To do this restart the computer and hold the keys:
<command> + r
Then open Disk utility.

Last previous action: Used Firewire cable and "Target Mode" to copy files from G4 eMac to the PowerBook.
I worked from the eMac to the PowerBook, making the PowerBook the "Target". Files seemed to transfer OK. Won't boot from InstallDisc. Holding down T on startup results in Target mode screen. I have a G4 iMac and a G4 eMac. Can I use either of these with Firewire cable to boot-up my PowerBook ?

Hello,
It sounds to me like the PowerBook is stuck in target disk mode.
It's expecting the iMac/eMac to be there when booting. Seeming it's not attached, it will show a flashing folder.
If your PowerBook internal drive is bootable, then simply hold down the option key when booting and select it's internal hard drive. That should boot your PowerBook into Mac OS X.

It appears what happened is the installer though it was looking at a empty drive and just went ahead and installed.
I of course am assuming here you didn't use Disk Utility to format the drive first before installing, that would wipe out your files and programs for sure.
So what to do, what to do.
Well there is hope for you as long as the drive wasn't Filevaulted.
I'll explain. When a hard drive writes data for the first time to a drive, it starts at the very top and works it's way down.
When OS X was installed the first time, it was at the top of the drive, unless you upgraded then the upgraded OS X could have been written elsewhere.
Now when you just reinstalled OS X, the new OS went on the top of the drive, overwriting any data that was there previously, so what was there you have lost forever which is about 8GB or so. If it was the previous OS there, then your more in luck because only the old OS X was overwritten.
The remaining space on the drive still can have a copy of your files, provided it's not overwritten yet.
It's because when a hard drive deletes data or reformats, it doesn't remove the data off the drive or overwrites it immediately, it's just made so it's SPACE is available for new files to be written there.
So technically one can recover the deleted data off a non-encrypted/scrubbed hard drive with special software.
The way it does this is it reads the 1's and 0's of the files themselves, and through a lot of figuring out, can tell what that file is and what it belongs too.
So what you will have to do is this:
Create a data recovery/undelete external boot drive
or if you don't have the skills, then take it to a local PC/Mac tech and they can do a direct image of the drive and then you can run Data Rescue on it to rebuild your files.

In a FM 11 book, how can I display filename w/o file location?

In a FrameMaker book, how can I display filename without the file's location on the hard drive?
For example, The book would list:
"MyFile.fm"
instead of

If this cannot be done, then how can I get the book to list a name for the added file other than the name of the first heading in the file contents?

Check out the little toggle icon beside the magnifying glass in the book tab – you can swap back and forth between “Display Heading Text” and “Display File Names”

Ok, I'm a bit smarter now. If I open the new pdf with reader 7 the graphics are in normal size at 100%. If I open the same pdf in Acrobat 9 pro everything is a bit to big with the "original size" setting, so the graphics are blured, because they get streched. It is a problem of displaying, the pdf seems to be ok, cause it looks good printed and good in Reader 7. But how can I know how the result will look at the users screen and why is the same file different in two reader versions?
and there is still the problem with the pattern / diffusion / noise whatever is the best word for it.

Did you purchase the ringtone or make it yourself by taking an excerpt from a song?
If taking an excerpt from a song, it must be 30 sec or less. Once you get the 30 sec clip, you have to create an AAC version of the clip. Open the folder with the AAC version of the clip and change the file extension to .m4r I believe. Then double click the new file and it will automatically be loaded in the "tones" folder. You can then open the "tones" folder in iTunes and drag it to your iPhone which is connected to iTunes on your computer.

I am trying to develop a gui to display the relationship between multiple trees.

(The hyphens do not signifiy relationships, they are put there because the
preview takes away the blanks. The | characters are intended to act as separators
between adjacent trees.)
All the trees are scrollable and have been added to three different scrollpanes
and are displayed on a window. The relationships can only be between leaves
of the trees.
The only way I can figure out to show such relationships is by drawing lines
e.g. a line from Tree1.Leaf1 to Tree2.Leaf21 etc. Users may define relationships
by drawing lines from one tree node to another by dragging the mouse.
The lines may criss cross and there might be a lot of lines etc.
I would like to know about alternative ways to show such relationships on the
screen in a neater way.
I would also like a way to make lines "full fledged objects" e.g. they will get mouse
events such that actions can be triggered by double clicking or right clicking on a
line.
I would appreciate your help in this very much.

However, the JGraph framework is available only on Jsdk 1.4 and not on Jsdk 1.3.
I saw an item in the FAQ about the possibility of porting JGraph to 1.3 but there were
no links on the site for this.
I need to use Jsdk 1.3 as Jsdk1.4 is unsuported by the vendor of one of the tools that I need
to use and they do not have any plans to support 1.4 in the near future.
I would appreciate the forum's help in pointing out JGraph like functionality in Jsdk1.3 via some other API or maybe knowledge about whether someone has ported JGraph to Jsdk 1.3

Since updating Iphone 4 the screen display is too large

Since updating my Iphone 4 the screen display is too large to fit on the screen. For example the green battery graphic is so large half of it takes up the full screen.
I pressed restore and restored the phone. I then restored my backup files and I still have the same problem.
