Screen Distortion w/Quick Time 7.2

I am unable to view .MOV files taken with my Panasonic digital camera's video feature. I get no picture, just a screen full of pink and green irregular patterns (sometimes they are square)that repeat themselves in horizontal rows. When I click the PLAY button, the patterns flicker and move and I can hear my grandkids' voices in the background. I would appreciate any help on getting Quick Time to work.

PS Other video formats (WMV, RM, AVI, MPG, etc) work fine in their respective players.

Open the QuickTime Control Panel / Advanced tab
under video switch to "Safe mode"
quit and relaunch QuickTime Player and try the file again.

How to record a DVD on Quick Time Player?

I am trying to record a DVD using Full Screen Recording in Quick Time Player.
I am able to click the red button to get the screen recording but then the screen on the DVD Player goes grey.
The DVD isn't rights protected.
How do I get the DVD to play and record it?

Handbrake can't read all the DVD (as there is an error on it) but I can play it in full on DVD Player - hence trying to record full screen.
I didn't expect there to be any copyright protection - does the grey screen when trying to record with Quick Time suggest that it is protected?

Want to enlarge size of Quick Time Movie Screen

I have been creating short video movies on my iMovie and transferring them to Quick Time for eventual streaming video viewing on web with the help of Quick Time Pro. The iMovies look great on full screen but when trying to transfer them to Quick Time, they only show up as a small window. I have tried to enlarge the picture by setting Quick Time Preferences to 2x or full screen but they still only show up as small when being viewed. Enlarging them once they are being viewed does distort the quality of the picture. Is there any way I can process a movie for full screen viewing or perhaps 1/2 screen viewing when transferring iMovie to Quick TIme and still retain its original detail. Thank you very much

You need a few html "tricks" to enlarge your video playback. Most can come from the simple scale="tofit" tags. This will resize your .mov file to fit the dimensions you set.
Another way to do this (easier now with QT 7) is to set the movie playback to double, or even full screen, and use the html tag target="quicktimeplayer".

Clicking the triangle icon gives you additional options, such as letting you choose whether to use the built-in microphone on your Mac, an external microphone you've connected to your Mac, a microphone from a connected Apple display, or the option to simply use no microphone at all. The triangle also allows you to adjust the finished quality of your screen recording, select whether or not your mouse clicks are shown during the recording (the pointer is highlighted when you click), and to select what location (on your Mac) to save your screen recording when finished.

How do you mirror powerpoint or quick time onto apple tv without it showing up on your desktop/original screen?

I am currently running mavericks os x on an iMac. I would like to mirror my computer screen on to a TV screen using Mavericks/ Apple TV and continuously stream either a quick time video or power point full screen on the TV. Whenever I try to do this, it also takes over my iMac screen.. Does anyone know a way I can mirror stream this powerpoint or quick time full screen continuously on the tv screen and not on my computer screen?

The only way to share content from itunes is through home sharing or airplay, which will require the laptop be awake a different running get itunes. If you have an IOS device you could transfer there and airplay.

Quick Time sows up with Green Screen

Green Screen pops up when I watch trailer or download movies from the apple store but the sound plays. please help. Windows xp. just downloaded quick time for christmas when I got a card for xmas, so should be latest version....

I have never used this feature before but i just tested this on both my Mac Pro and MacBook Air. On both machines, as soon as the recording started, QuickTime took an enormous amount of resources to run resulting in sluggish/stuttering behavior when i show and hide the dock, open appls etc. I don't know the differences between QuickTime versions from 10.6 and 10.8 but i'm sure there have been a few.
As i am experiencing the same issue on multiple machines i doubt it is an issue with your hardware or operating system, however i do not have a solution. I use ScreenFlow which uses very little processor power and offers a nice suite of tools.
I hope another user can offer a solution to the issue, if not, try AppleCare support.

Exporting in quick time - flashing white screen

I edited a finished intro (some text changes) , but i can't export it in .mov format (quick time) .What i mean is, when i try to run the intro, every second it flashes a white screen, it get's white every second, for just a bit, and then it continues, and the next second - same thing.Problem is, i need the best quality, and the .avi format just is not enough.
It's an emergency.
Any kind of help, will be much appreciated!

How do I change the settings in quick time player to screen record video using less hard drive space?

how do I change the settings in quick time player to use less hard drive space when performing a screen record? When I screen record a video lets say from vimeo, QTP seems to use a lot of hard drive space. Please help. Are there settings some where to adjust to slim down the video size? Thanks for your input.

I just did a short SR test, first I exported to 480p, then I saved the file. Now I have 2 files one 11.9mb (export) and the other 42.8mb (save). I then took the save file and performed an export on it to 480p. Guess what, it saved at 11.9mb. So it seemed to save me 3/4 of the space. Lets see what happens with a 17 minute SR. Thanks!
Any suggestions on getting the sound louder with the SR?
For anyone else ever seeing this post, for me the best was using an external speaker whether wired or bluetooth, facing the left side of the computer where the internal mic hole is. Good Luck!

Quick Time screen capture freezes when i'm working with Modo 3D. Any solution?

Hi guys, When I'm working with Luxology Modo, Quick Time screen capture freezes every time on Mac OS X Mavericks. When I'm doing some operation in Modo, like slice geometry per exemple, QuickTime crashes. I must force quit quicktime and when I relauch the application, the screen capture opens but screen capture ends at the time when I cliked on the Modo slice operation. It's frustrating because I can't do nothing with screen capture. I tried other screen capture applications but the problem persists! When I was using Snow Leopard Quick Time works very well!! Do you have some resolution for this problem? Regards, César.

I'm using OS X Mavericks as well, and it seems like the same thing happens when I try to type in MonoDevelop, part of the Unity package. Unity works fine, it only seems as though I can't screen record typing in MonoDevelop. It looks like it's still recording, it just has the rainbow wheel of death after I try to finish out the Quicktime. I left it up for several days and ignored it, but it still didn't finish. I finally had to force quit it and reopen it and when I did it opened up the temporary file of the video I was recording, but it stopped whenever I started to type into the MonoDevelop interface. The first time it let me save the video to the desktop. The second time, the time which I left it open for days, it would not let me save it, on command-S or on exit. I don't know exactly what's wrong, but I believe that you know as much as I do. Please post a reply if you need any more information or have a fix.

An error comes up when trying to play tunes quick time failed to initialise error-2096 and screen goes weird ?? frustrated.

An error 2096 comes up on screen when trying to play iTunes from quick time says to uninstall tunes then re-install !! Started to happen after last upgrade from quick +iTunes and is frustrating as can't play anything ,is on Windows XP and was fine till now! Thanks in advance.

Is your QuickTime working if you try to open it?

The 2096 error has often been associated with compatability mode problems.
Otherwise try a complete removal of all iTunes related programs:

Then download and install the version of Quicktime that does not include iTunes:

Check that it works
Then try installing iTunes.

Quick Time Screen recording really choppy/ bad frame rate.

So when i record my screen using other programs everything is smooth and the video moves at the same speed as real time, but when i record using Quick time then the video is very laggy and the frame rate is really bad and things are just jumping around a lot.
Is Quck Time just not capable of Screen recording complex things? is it only capable of recording microsoft word? lol.
If someone can hep me use Qucik time to record me screen then that would be great, cause with the way it is now there simply is no point to using it at all cause it doesnt record the screen very well, it just lags and everything jumps around to much. Its like watching a slide show where the pictures change every 2 sec rather than a video.

Well let's get this straight, if you activate the "custom" needs to disable "Show" not to be active in recording the two modules, when you enter the part of customization changes and exit, when he is back in "Demonstration" because the standard method of entry but if your looking for customization that you changed it continues on, not being changed.

I am looking at purchasing QuickTime Pro for Winodiws (yes I will be getting a mac soon...) and I was wondering if the screen recorder function that is with quick time on macs is still available on windows?

Screen recording is part of QuickTime X, not QuickTime Pro. QuickTime X is only available for Macs.

Widescreen Quick Time movie made in iPhoto

I have made a widescreen Quick time movie in iPhoto by exporting it to the desktop. It's 1500x660. Works great when played in Quick Time player on the wide screen TV from my computer. When I import it into iDVD, it shows ok in preview(with a note that says widescreen preview). When I burn it to a DVD it comes out skued and elongated. What can I do to prevent this?

I recently finished a project containing:
1 iMovie 4:3
1 iMovie 16:9
90 pictures slideshow (2:3)
I used iLife 05.
I produced a DvD containing three chapters: one for each film and one for the slideshow.
The result is as follows when played on my set-top:
The DvD intro is in widescreen (I defined it that way) my TV-set switches to widescreen when the DvD starts, then the DvD menu comes up in aspectratio 4:3 (that's correct as there are no standard themes in 16:9)
when I play the films:
The 4:3 plays correctly
When I play the 16:9 film my TV-set switches automaticcaly to 16:9, this film plays correctly. When finished TV switches back to the menu 4:3
When I play the slideshow it plays without any distortion of the images.
As the originator talks "widescreen" I am not sure if he means 16:9 or HD.
Anyway, I don't experience any problems in bringing widescreen (16:9) to DvD using iDvD
Are you indeed specifiacally refering to HD or also to widescreen (16:9) ?
I did not produce HD sofar.

What have I done. Please give me instructions to set Quick Time so it will work. I also got a Registration screen. I read the thread on how to get around that but I didn't understand the abbreviations that someone wrote.
