Screen does no longer rotate when the iPad is turned sideways

My iPad screen used to turn and follow the direction that I turned the iPad it no longer does that...

I just had the same problem in that my Ipad 2, that is less than a week old, all of a sudden stopped rotating.  After reading that it may be a specific app that could be causing a problem, I investigated the apps I had been using.  I found that there is an option in Google Earth to turn autotilt On or Off, and it had been switched off by default.  After switching Autotilt to On, the screen will rotate again.  Not sure if this will fix the problem for everyone, but be sure to check the apps you have used most recently to see if there is something similar to this.

Why won't my background rotate when The IPAD turns anymore?

You posted this in the iPhone forum. Check in Control Center (swipe up from the home screen) and see if the rotation lock is turned on there (an icon of a lock with a circled arrow).

Try force-closing the Calculator app: from the home screen, double-tap the home button, locate Calculator in the list at the bottom, tap and hold it until it wiggles, tap to close it, tap the home button.

  • In two email accounts, the msgs that are downloadednjust disappear when the ipad is turned off.  They are not in the trash file, but just gone.

I have an itouch that has the same two email accounts as I trying to use on the ipad.  Same accounts are set up on a desktop computer (almost never sync either one with it) and an android smartphone.  The itouch keeps msgs on it in the inbox (both accounts) and in the trash folders until I delete them...........same with the android phone.
If I download msgs to either account to the desktop where it is set up to remove them from the ISP server, then I understand they won't come to any of the other devices, but the android phone and the itouch will have them in their in boxes (they come in through the wireless router here at the house.
The problem I'm having is that the ipad is set uo just like the itouch, but it sure acts differently with regard to email..  This morning, it had about 40 msgs on one account that I use for aviation and vietnam list groups and then checking it about two hours later, all of them were gone,,,,,,,just gone and all the folders were empty.  I had not used the desktop computer during that time.
I've deleted both email accounts and started over from scratch a couple of times and that hasn't fixed the problem.............

  • How to make the ipad 2 turn sideways?

I bought a new hard plastic case with a keyboard for the Ipad 2 and the Ipad won't tun sideways. It is locked and the space bar won't space. I need help, Please

If you iPad's rotation is locked there will be a circular arrow with a small lock symbol inside the circle displaying on the upper right of the black bar at the top of your iPad. If you see that then you know the rotation is locked either by the slide switch or by the Settings app.
If that is not present then try a reboot of your iPad. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider until the Apple logo appear. Let go of the buttons and let the iPad restart. See if that fixes your problem.

  • Does any one know when the ipad 3 is coming out

i want to know what is new about it

We're just users here and none of us would know.  If history repeats itself, the next generation iPad will be announced in the March time frame with release in April/May.  Until then, no one here would know and if they did, they would be prohibited from discussing it.

  • When the smart cover turns of the iPad does it turn off the wifi turn off too?

Am I running down the battery if I don't turn off wifi before I close the smart cover?

    Jfd-
Closing the smart cover only puts the iPad to sleep.  As far as I know, it puts WiFi to sleep as well.
There are some Apps such as the Music App, that may continue to play after the iPad goes to sleep.  If you really want to turn off the iPad, hold down the Sleep button for a few seconds until the "Slide to power off" arrow appears.  When the iPad is turned off this way, you turn it back on by holding the Sleep button until the Apple logo appears.

  • The ipod touch´s  5g screen should rotate as the ipad´s one (specially horizontal). Why making a bigger display if the IOS does´nt use it properly?

I got an ipad 2. It work´s fine. I bought an ipod because and I thought it was going to work as well as the ipad. And it´s not bad, but it´s a waste not to use the screen horizontally in several app´s as facebook nor even in the menu screen, considering its 4" display. APPLE and the app´s designers should think of that when IOS 7 comes out (or before it better).

Because of the smaller screen on the iPod compared with the iPad, not all apps that rotate on the iPad rotate on the iPod. That is how it works.

  • My ipad screen will no longer rotate

my ipad screen will no longer rotate.  How do I unlock this or do whatever needs to be done?

Have you got rotation lock on (is there a lock symbol at the top of the screen next to the battery indicator) ? If so, then depending on how you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set, it can either be turned off via the switch on the right-hand side of teh iPad, or via the taskbar (double-click the home button, slide the taskbar to the right, and it's the icon far left) - the function that isn't set via the switch is set via the taskbar instead. More info on the side switch/taskbar http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4085

  • Why does the iPhone 4 need to send an SMS to activate FaceTime when the iPad 2 doesn't?

    Hi there.
I keep wondering why iPhone 4 need to send a international SMS to activate FaceTime when the iPad 2 doesn't?
It cost's 2,50 dkr ($0.48) every time it does that.
I have a mobile subscription where i get 5 hours talk time, Free SMS, Free MMS, Free talk to all with same subscription and 5GB data for 129 dkr/month ($24.77).
But the internation SMS is not free.
And it really bugs me that my danish iPhone has to send an SMS to England to acticate FaceTime that i only can use on WiFi.
I also have a iPad 2 (WiFi model), and it can activate FaceTime fine via WiFi. So why can't the iPhone 4 do that?
I really really need a good explanation to why i have to pay to activate FaceTime.
Why can't you make local numbers to send the SMS too, or do it via WiFi just like the iPad 2.
The strangest this is that you have to be on WiFi to use FaceTime, so why use the mobile network to activate FaceTime?

Where are you, what network are you on and where did you get your phone?
The fact that it uses SMS isn't really the issue here and no-one on this forum can answer the "why" question. We are end users, not Apple. The accepted answer is if it's going to tie facetime to your phone number (which it does) then that's the way it's got to work.
The puzzling part is why it would be sending one to England... unless of course, you purchased the phone in the UK and actually live in another region entirely.
