Screen does not respond to touch

I cannot get the screen to respond to touch at all.  The buttons work correctly so I have done a restart several times to see if that corrected it and it did not.  I was going to try the webOS Doctor but since I can't use the touch screen I can't tell it to work as a USB device for my computer.  Any advice?
Post relates to: HP TouchPad (WiFi)

Yes you can still try webOS doctor by holding the volume up and the power buttons while you connect your USB cable. Go to this following web site to get the webOS doctor and follow the steps on the web page.

  • My iphone 5 screen does not respond to touch at all

I don't know what has happened to my phone.  The screen does not allow me to even swipe to unlock it.  It has lines all the way up the screen of different colours.  There is no cracks in the screen or anything like that and I dont recall dropping the phone.  The only buttons that work are the home button and the on/off switch.  I have tried to reset it but that doesnt work. Any ideas what could have happened and what I can do?

  • My ipad2 is nearly useless since the instalación of ios8.0.2, the screen does not respond to touch, wifi freezes

SInce the installation of IOS8.0.2, my iPad 2 is nearly useles. The touch screen does not work, wifi freezes constantly, I am requested continuous to input my iCloud username and passcode. And the system is soooo slow that I have started to use again my old pc to do Internet searches. I have tried the iPad turning off and on but the problems restart shortly afterward. Any suggestions what can I do ? Is Apple doing anything in this regard?

    Try some basic troubleshooting:
    (A) Try reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
    (B) Try reset all settings
    Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings
    (C) Setup as new (data will be lost if you do not have backup)
    Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings

  • IPhone4 screen does not respond to touch! AT ALL!! help!!!!

My iPhone screen went kaput suddenly while I was on a call. I cannot perform ANY touch interaction with the iphone at all. I cannot power it off, unlock, swipe to recieve calls.. you get the drift. I tried a hard reset, still the same. I resintalled the s/w, still the same. I took off the cover, still the same. The software is working just fine, it's not hung or crashed. Just the screen won't take any user interaction!! Pls help!!!
I took it to AppleCare, I'm out of warranty so only solution is to buy a new phone. Please suggest if you know or have heard of anything to make this work. Thanks!
Again, I have tried a hard reset multiple times, so please don't suggest that.

Sounds like the digitizer went bad.   It's part of the glass and although it is replaceable, it isn't easy.   There are non-Apple repair shops that will do this for you for less than $100 in the US.   Or you can do an out-of-warranty repair with Apple and they will replace for $149.

  • My ipod got wet and now the screen does not respond to touch

i droped my ipod touch in some water and used the rice method to save it but now now it will turn on but it won't respond when i try to touch it. any ideas

Try restoring to factory defaults/new iPod. If yu still have the problem then it appears that the water damaged your iPod and service is required.

My Safari screen is grayed out.  It does not respond to touch. How can I restore it back to life?

Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Cache. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and slide to shut down. then hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears to start up.
You can also reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep button and home button at the same time until the Apple logo appears (takes about 10 seconds) - ignore the red slider.

  • My phone freezes and the touch screen does not respond to my touch.

My i-phone 4 has been freezing up on me as of late.  The buttons will still work but the touch screen does not respond to my touch.
Is my phone hooped or can I do sometinhg to fix it?

First thing to try is a reboot of your iPhone. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the iPhone restart. See if that fixes your problem.

Try a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears, ignore the red slider if that appears.  See if that clears the glitch.

I'd be curious to go buy an old Linksys WRT54G Wifi Router and see how the iPads work on it....but my lord, I have already spent so much time on this issue as it is.

Unless you get that WRT54G for free or next to free, pass on it and pick up an old apple WAP off eBay or similar site. Like you my iPad has a connectivity problem with the WRVS4400N running iOS 4.2.1, where it didn't have trouble with iOS 3.2.2 and ran fine for five months.
My solution at the office was to spur a second router off my DSL router just for the iPad. The first was a WRT54G that had to be set to only one 802.11 protocol to keep the iPad reliably connected, but swapped it out for an old airport extreme that I kept on after testing it to be good. With a home network like you describe, I would run a subnet off the WRVS4400N just for iPad using an apple WAP (the configuration app for Windows is easy to use).
    Good luck.

Thanks, AM_Kidd, I had tried that before but I tried again and this time it WORKED!!!!
The buzzing stopped and I have the home screen up again.
Phew! It may be that it had been on charge for the last 30 mins.
    Whatever. Again, many thanks.

I cannot use it. I can get calls and text messages but I can't respond because the screen is locked and I can't "slide to unlock" because the touch screen does not work.
