  • Organizer 11 flashes continuously in 2nd monitor?

I just installed the trial version of Premiere Elements 11, which works fine on my primary monitor, but when I place Organizer on the 2nd monitor, the 2nd monitor screen flashes continuously.  Using Windows 7 with all updates; ATI Radeon HD 4290 with currrent drivers.  All other software, including other Adobe products, work fine on second monitor.  Searched Adobe site and Google without success.  Frustrated in Virginia.

    Welcome to the forum.
I see similar, even with the latest nVidia video driver, BUT in my case, my XP-Pro is the limiting factor. nVidia has not released an updated driver for my GeForce 8800M GTX chip FOR that OS.
With Win7, I would have thought that the latest Catalyst driver for your AMD/ATI card would not exhibit that flashing. However, there have been some recent posts (mostly to the Photoshop forum) on some recent issues with the latest AMD/ATI Catalyst drivers, and especially with PS CS 6. What is the Catalyst version that you have installed? In many of those display issue threads in the PS forum, the "fix" was to roll back to an earlier version. Also, are your two displays the exact same, with the exact same resolution?
PrE 11 (and PS CS 6, PrPro CS 6 and After Effects CS 6) relies more heavily on the video driver, than most other programs will.
In my case, my display is perfect with older PrE, PrPro PS and AE versions, but I get the flashing (and trails) in PrE 11. My fix will be to update my OS on the laptop (though a new laptop is being shipped with Win7), since nVidia has ceased support for my XP-Pro and that nVidia chip.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
    Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Devices list, and then click Restore.
(You may already have a micro USB cable if you have a camera or other digital device)

  • Tv screen only says ITunes and light flashes continually. Can't use.

  • My MacBook was acting weird so I restarted it and when I login a white screen flashes and goes back to the login page. Help?

My MacBook was acting weird like sometimes I would log on and I wouldn't be able to type my password for a couple seconds, but it usually logged in after that. Then I left my computer open after installing the recent update after that all my applications were not responding. So I shut it down, when I turned it back on about an hour later it went to this loading screen and then to the login like usual. After I tried logging in a white screen flashed and it went back to the login/ password screen like nothing happened. Any ideas on what happened and what I can do to fix it?

    Reinstall OS X;
Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Screen flashing black

My ipad with retina display has been acting up. The screen flashes black in all applications. Then the screen will turn off and I have to hit the power button several times before the screen will turn back on. What is wrong? What should I do?

    Hello there, AlysonLB.
The following Knowledge Base article offers some practical troubleshooting steps that are applicable to your iPad:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2802
    Particularly:
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • Screen flashes instead of alert sound after 10.4.11 update

After updating to 10.4.11 about 2 weeks ago I noticed that my screen flashes whenever an alert sound should occur. It looks just like the "Flash screen when an alert sound occurs" option found in the Universal Access (Hearing) settings. I toggled the setting found there, but even when it's set to off, my flashing screen alert continues to occur. I know a friend of mine who experienced the exact same problem, but he hasn't found a solution to this (minor, but annoying) problem yet either. I also talked to a "genius" at the local Apple store. He hadn't heard about the problem and couldn't offer a solution either.
Is anybody else experiencing a flashing screen alert? How does one get rid of it? Thanks.

    this solved it for me:
i checked my system alerts and found that the alert sound was set to some invalid legacy sound called AIM - probably left over from when i used AIM instead of iChat.
i set the alert sound back to one of the original Apple sounds and viola! No More Flashing Screen!!!

  • Hi, when powering up my macbook pro, when the apple symbol appears the screen flashes pink, can anyone advise whats up?

You can try a system reinstall:
Reinstalling Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer.

  • Screen flash disabled but happens anyway

My Mac has started flashing the screen instead of beeping. It's exactly the same effect as you'd get if the Accessibility pref pane's "flash the screen" option was enabled, except that it's not enabled. The checkbox in System Preferences is not checked.
I also verified that the preferences property list file affecting this setting shows it as being off. In ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.universalaccess.plist I see:
    <key>flashScreen</key>
    <false/>
In case it makes any difference, the system sound is otherwise normal and not muted. I'm listening to music from iTunes, but getting screen flashes instead of beeps.
This happened a couple of weeks ago, and rebooting the Mac got things back to normal. Why does it keep happening? Is there something I can do to stop it from repeating again? The screen flash is going to give me a seizure.

Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode.  Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the grey Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal.

  • Ipod screen flashes and chirps ???

I have a 20GB click wheel Ipod. Last night it just started to make a high pitch sound and then changed to a screen flashing and chirping sound simultaneously? The flashing and chirping continued and I could not do anything. It was basically frozen, then I connected it to the fire wire port and the apple logo appeared and it seemed to fix itself. The battery was dead, I don't know if that was a symptom. I restored the Ipod and I'm waiting to see if it happens again when the battery is dead. Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions, Derek Skaalen!
I'd get a replacement ASAP. That doesn't sound good.

  • Random screen flash- 15" MBP (late 2008)

Just purchased a new Macbook Pro in November 2008 (Aluminum) and have recently noticed a random screen flash on the native display. It happens at inexplicable times; 1) low CPU,Mem,Disk usage, low temp (under 130 degrees F), 2) High CPU/Mem usage and higher temps (134-140 degrees f). I run VMWare and it happens, I DON'T run VMWare and it happens. Its COMPLETELY random which makes it difficult to replicate when in front of a genius or anyone else. It will happen in groups of 2 or three flashes...then nothing for quite some time (just happened). I thought the 10.5.6 update would cure the issue, but it persists.
What makes this more bizarre is when I have an external monitor that runs at a higher res (1600 x 1280), the problem continues on my macbook, but not on the External monitor (dell).
I took it into the Apple store and they ran a full hardware diagnostic (took like 2 hours) with some sort of software or something, and came up with nothing and that my Macbook Pro hardware is fine. The Genius said it was a software problem...but, i disagree given that the "flash" doesn't happen on the external monitor- only on the native display. I'm fearful that this will become a bigger problem and leave me with no MacBook Pro when I need to work. I've searched and found more youtube videos showing this issue, than I've found any support related articles here or anywhere else for that matter.
So, I thought I'd put this one out there so someone can help. Come on Apple..i have spent almost 8k on your stuff and expect better quality and a much better response to problems. anyone having this same issue? I KNOW I'm not smoking anything and this is definitely not normal behavior.

Nice advice but no dice. That flash is very different from the one we're complaining about.
I watched my flashing last night and noticed that it was actually in random parts of the screen. It woudl be a black band in the middle of the screen, then and larger band at the top of the screen....i wasn't watching video, playing games or doing anything that was demanding on the system AT ALL...PLUS this only happens to the native screen no on my Dell External monitor...SOOO bizarre.

  • Late 2008 Macbook Pro Screen Flashes Black

Earlier this year I had a problem with the screen of my late 2008 15" Macbook Pro flashing black. The entire screen would flash black for about half a second, then come back on. This would happen maybe once a day or as frequently as once every minute or so.
In January I took it to the Apple store for repairs, at which time they serviced my computer twice (Jan 10-14, Jan 14-15) to fix the problem. Everything was awesome until this month when I started noticing more issues. My battery was "swollen" and the fans were clicking (probably because I was also having over heating issues after upgrading to Lion). Anyway, I take the computer in, the employees at the Genius bar are very helpful, but as we're sitting there looking at my computer--the screen flashes. Not once, but 5 times. I confirmed that the Apple employee saw it and he took it in to get repaired.
I just got it back--they replaced the logic board for the third time, the ODD Super Drive, Optical Cable, battery, and two fans.
......aaannndd my screen just flashed black again. I'm not sure what's going on. Do I have a dud? They also didn't screw in one of the back screws all the way so I have to take it to the store to get it put in (I don't have that tiny of a screw driver). It's really annoying that they didn't put it in all the way, considering it sticks out enough to scratch the surface of any table I'm working on.
Anyway, anyone else continuing to have these issues?

Update: let it rest for ten minutes. Rebooted, I get a grey screen with vertical rainbow colored lines in three places.

  • When installing new apps-screen flashes

Since I have upgraded to Mountain Lion, when I am istalling new apps, just as it is finishing the install, my screen flashes for a slip second.
I have also noticed these flashing behaviors when I scroll on some web sites. I was attributing that to my super fast processor.
Also, I did upgrade my ram to 48 GIG's reciently. About the same time I upgraded to Mounatin Lion.

Not all applications are drag and drop. Most shareware you'll find is, but others are not. As with Safari Beta. Double click on the install box. This brings up a a new screen, asking you to pick the drive to used for the install. Select the drive, click the install(continue button) and all should be fine.

  • Grey screen flashing question and apple logo

My power mac G4 wont boot passed a grey screen flashing apple logo and question mark. Have tried every option that the support can give you. still nothing. tried the apple hardware test and doesnt seem to be effecting it at all??? What should i do?

If you hold the Option/alt key at bootup, what shows as boot choives?
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Or does it not show at all?
Tough without the Install disc, but some things to try...
Does it boot to Single User Mode, CMD+s keys at bootup, if so try...
    /sbin/fsck -fy
Repeat until it shows no errors fixed.
(Space between fsck AND -fy important).
Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck...
