Screen flashing then faulty

The screen started flashing then keys went intermittent. Needs hard press to work. Any deals?

Could use a little more info here as I'm really not understanding the problem.
Make sure IOS is updated to latest version
(How to update your iOS device
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4623)
Reboot device by pressing both the home button and sleep/wake (power) buttons at the same time for 10-15 seconds until the apple logo appears on the screen, then let go.
If that doesn't work then reset the device by going to settings/general/reset/reset all settings  (or for network connection issues 'reset network settings').
(no media or data will be deleted from the device, this will only take a minute).
If that doesn't work then backup and then restore the device as new first (to isolate cause of the issue). Then from backup if necessary.

Then when i try and connect it to the computer it shows the no battery screen with just the lightning bolt. and when i try to restore it the screen flashes then resest to the no battery screen and i get error 1602. Do you know what is wrong with it? do you think its just the battery cause i can replace that for cheap or do you think the circuts are fried?

No. It sounds like the water destroyed the component inside the iPod.
About your only choice now it to take it to Apple and pay for a replacement.

  • 10.7.3 Screen flashes then shutdown...And KP's

2010 i5 MBP with 8GB Crucial ram....In January I began getting random shut-downs...The screen would go garbled, then flash 2-3 times, then the computer would shut down...Has happened somewhat infrequently until this week...Happened 4 times on Tuesday and 3 times today...
I've been reading about the black screen issues on these models running Lion, but I havent seen anyone else complain of the screen going nuts then instant shut-down...While searching I found the support topic on Kernel Panic...I've never had a KP occur, but while actually reading about KP on the support page, it happened. I removed and reseated the RAM,and was ok for 2 days...But then today Ive crashed multiple times and had another KP. Im currently running memtest, which so far says RAM is ok...My next step is to do a hardware test, but I dont have my access to my install disks until tomorrow...The flash and crash occurs at random times and in random apps, but the KP's have occured when Safari was the only app open....
Im wondering if this crashing is a hardware problem related to the graphics? Im currently running wth graphics switching disabled to see if the problem occurs again. What other steps can I take to eliminate possible causes? If there a way, other than disabling graphics switching, to narrow down a cause to the Intel graphics or the logic board?

Completed the hardware test this AM, and it reported no problems...I have no beeps during boot...It did beep upon the first KP...It was a series of 3 beeps, but it was unexpected, and I cant tell your if it was just 3 repeating beeps, or if it was the SOS code...It hasnt beeped since that first KP...Ive looked through Console and found the logs...Most of it is Chinese to me, cant really tell much from them.....At this point I guess Im another victim of the graphics switching driver crash problem...Hopefully Mountain Lion fixes this, if theres no update sooner...

  • Screen flashes then goes blank - S2012 13" Air

When I start up my new Air, the screen will sometimes flash bright white/gray then go completely blank as if it fell asleep. The keyboard lights are still on at this point. This will happen after several restarts. Is there a software fix, or is a Genius visit in my near future?

  • T400 screen flashes then goes black

As the thread title says, my lenovo t400's screen recently started flashing. It wasn't that bad at first but it increased in frequency and started to be very annoying. I noticed changing from battery to cable would temporarily stop it, also turning down the brightness helped.
However the problem started getting worse and now when I am forced to have it on the lowest brightness settings. If I turn it up it starts flashing erratic and then the screen turns off. The system itself keeps working though and if I turn the laptop off or in sleep mode and then turn it on again the screen "works" again (still with flashing). Ofcourse if I left the brightness above its lowest level it will instantly go black again.
Also most likely related, half of the screen (left side) has taken on an "redish" collor.
What could be the problem and is it something I can fix myself?

On the back it says type: 6474-B84. I assume you mean that?
And yes if I were to shine on the screen with a flashlight I can see the content.
Correct, these are the original specs of the machine:
    ThinkPad T400 (6474-B84):
    P8600(2.4GHz), 2GB RAM, 160GB 7200rpm HD, 14.1in 1440x900 LCD, Intel 4500MHD, CDRW/DVDRW, Intel 802.11agn wireless, WWAN option, Bluetooth, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure Chip, 9c Li-Ion, WinXP Pro
I can think of three possibleculprits, LCD cable defective, inverter defective or LCD panel's backlight  defective. The cable and the inverter will be cheaper to replace, the panel will be more pricey I guess, (I don't know the current LCD panel prices).
T400's came with standard CCFL and LED screens. You need to find out which one you have. You can try the part lookups page from Lenovo and follow the instructions here: http://support.lenovo.com/en_CH/product-and-parts/partsLookup.page?
(You need the machine type and your serial number, please don't post the serial number here in the forum)
P.S.: If you have a LED screen cluprits could be the cable or the panel, no inverters there AFAIK)

  • Ipod screen flashes then goes blank

  • HDX16T LCD Screen flashes then blacks out, quick to sleep and out brings it back...

I have an HP HDX16T-1200 CTO with the 1080 edgeless disply.  All of a sudden the screen has been doing weird things.  While it is working fine, it will start to flicker or flash a little.  Sometimes that just goes away, and sometimes the screen then blacks out.  To get the screen back, I have to close the lid (put the computer in sleep mode), then open it again.  Sometimes it is fixed for hours, or a day... and sometimes it is fixed for 3 minutes.  Please advise, thanks!

MoonSwan wrote:Assuming this isn't a laptop it might be simplest to swap video cards (beg, borrow, steal one from somewhere if you can).  If you can clean and/or put new thermal paste on the chip itself that may fix the problem.  If you search the web for "*ERROR* Timeout setting UVD clocks!" you'll find many threads on Bugzilla about this issue.  It seems that this is a long-standing issue (dating back to 2013 I believe).
So are you saying the GPU is overheating? This is the card I am using: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6814150605 I have it hooked up to my motherboard on my desktop. Would this be related to something switching between the motherboard graphics and this card?

  • Blue screen flash then no screen

During start up. I get a blue screen for about a second then it goes away. I can adjust the brightness and can kinda see something. Please help!

You must repair the HD, if Disk Utility or fsck should fail to repair it, your best bet is DiskWarrior from Alsoft, you'll need the CD to boot from if you don't have another boot drive...

  • Screen flashes then locks

My screen on a mac pro 15 in 2.2g core 2 suddenly started to flash on off repeatedly. I had to hard crash the computer to get it out of that screen, but now it locks up just after the "bong" in the startup apple screen.  Any resolutions?  I am up to date within a week on software.

    Try rebooting while pressing "d"
With any luck you will be taken to a blue screen with white writing, and you will be able to run a diagnostic test. Run this, and this will let you know if you have any hardware issues.

  • Screen flashes then computer locks up.

When using battery power sometimes my MBP screen will flash several times. When that happens the track pad will still allow the movement of pointer but I can't do anything. Can't close apps, windows, access apple icon etc.. Have to reboot to correct. I have not seen the issue wihen the power cord is connected. When it has happened the batter power level has been somewhere between 11 & 33 percent.

I forgot to mention that I have already repaired permissions a couple of time.

  • Screen flashes then MBP shuts down.

From time to time I get a flashing display then the computer shuts down.
Pressing the power button then restarts and it returns to where it left off.

    Hello iansp,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
From your post I understand that your Mac will spontaneously flash the display and then it will shut down.  This indicates there is a kernel panic occuring on the Mac, causing the computer to shut down.  To be honest, troubleshooting a kernel panic can be a tedious and difficult process, so you might want to consider making an appointment at your closest Apple Retail Store, or Apple Authorized Service provider for support.  If you'd like to look at how to troubleshoot a kernel panic, take a look at the link below.

  • I click on firefox update for Mac OS X 10.6, the screen flashes then nothing happens. Pease help

There is really nothing else to add, I have tried to download the latest vesion via the email sent to me and going onto the Mozilla web site.

    In addition to Stedman's spot-on reply --
When you buy an upgrade disk, all updates in that OS can be found on Software Update.
For instance, I bought Snow Leopard at 10.6.
All other updates have been free and downloadable.  So I'm not a 10.6.7.
    10.4 (Tiger) went to 10.4.11.
    10.5 (Leopard) went to 1.5.8
10.6(Snow Leopard) is currently at 10.6.7.
Now, when Lion come out (the next major upgrade of OSX), I will have to pay to go to 10.7.
After that, updates are free til 10.8 comes out.

If you keep getting a 'red' message it means that the HDD is faulty and will have to be replaced.  You will have to format the new HDD in Disk Utility>Erase and then install the OSX and your data from Time Machine.
    Ciao.

  • When I turn on or restart my Macbook Pro Retina 15", my entire screen flashes completely bright yellow for a few seconds and then it goes to the normal Welcome screen.  How do I fix this??

    Hi Everyone,
This problem just started today.  When I turn on or restart my Macbook Pro Retina 15" (Mid 2012 version), my screen is light gray like normal, and then after a few seconds my entire screen flashes completely bright yellow for a few seconds, and then it goes to the normal Welcome screen (where I choose to login as myself or a guest user).  This suddenly started today and has not stopped since.  This keeps happening every single time I turn on or restart my computer.
Yesterday I installed all the Mavericks and other updates that were available in the App Store, so I'm wondering if this is related to that since this never happened prior to my doing those updates yesterday.  When I first installed the new OS X Mavericks (10.9.3) update, it went through the whole installation process (took about 10 minutes), and then during the installation I got an error message saying that it couldn't verify my iTunes application that was on my laptop, and then my laptop finished installing the updates.  Then once my laptop restarted, the App Store "Updates" section said that I had to do the whole OS X Mavericks (10.9.3) and iTunes (Version 11.2) updates all over again.  So my laptop did the whole installation again (took about 10 minutes, but this time I didn't get that "iTunes error message" during the installation process).
Now, when I go to the App Store "Updates" section, it says the following under "Updates Installed in the Last 30 days":
-Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update (Version 5.05) installed May 15, 2014
    -OS X Update (Version 10.9.3) installed May 15, 2014
    -iTunes (Version 11.2) installed May 15, 2014
    -OS X Update (Version 10.9.3) installed May 15, 2014
    -iTunes (Version 11.2) installed May 15, 2014
    -Security Update 2014-002 (Version 1.0) installed April 22, 2014
I'm wondering if this flashing bright yellow screen upon bootup is related to the fact that my laptop installed the OS X Update and the iTunes Update two times each?  Or is this new problem totally unrelated?  It's just that this problem started a day after these 2 updates were installed twice.
My Macbook Pro Retina 15" (Mid 2012 version) is otherwise working fine at least as of now.  The only issue so far is this flashing bright yellow screen every time I turn on or restart my computer.
If anyone could please help me fix this so that my bootup screen doesn't flash completely bright yellow anymore, I would be forever grateful!
Thank you so much for reading this and for any help you can provide.
    hope everyone is well,
    Elaine

    Hey everyone in Apple world!
I figured out how to fix the flashing yellow screen problem that I've been having on my MBP!  Yessssss!!!
I found this super handy website with the golden answer: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
I followed the instructions on this page and here's what I did:
    Resetting NVRAM / PRAM
    Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.
I went through the 6 steps above twice, just to make sure I got rid of whatever stuff was holding up my bootup process.  Since I did that, my MBP boots up just like normal.  No flashing yellow screen anymore!!
(Note that I arrived at this solution when I first saw this page: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2570?viewlocale=en_US)
Let me know if this works for you!

  • I have a 16GB iPhone 3G and my screen will not work. When I have my sim card inserted into the phone calls go through, but I take it out and they don't go through. It was fine one minute and then the screen flashed and now it will not work. any answers?

I own a 16GB iPhone 3G. My father passed it down to me a year ago after he got the iPhone 4. I pressed the sleep/wake button on the top of the iPhone to check the time, and as I did so, the screen flashed on and off and now the screen won't work. Whenever I put my simcard in there calls will go through but I am unable to hear them, but if I take it out calls don't go through. I've tried charging it for a while, connecting to my laptop, holding the sleep/wake button and the home button for 10seconds to restore it, but nothing works. I've looked around and no-one'ed seemed to have this problem. I'd like to know what is wrong with my iPhone ASAP. thanks.

First, update iTunes, then connect the phone to the computer and do a restore. This will also get your iOS up to date. Your phone should operate correctly after doing this, if not, you will most likely need to have the phone serviced or replaced.
