Screen flickering after 10.6.3 update

Hi,
Am using a Samsung 22" SyncMaster monitor with my 2009 Mac Mini connected via VGA with resolution 1680 x 1050 at 60Hz and after 10.6.3 update the screen flickers allowing me to see the desktop for around 1-2 seconds. Its really annoying but the only way to get rid of it is if i change the resolution to 1600 x 1000 also at 60 Hz but everything is blurry!
I checked the monitor manual and its recommended resolution is 1680 x 1050 at 60 Hz.
Does anyone else have this issue and is there a fix?!

Yes, I have the exact same problem.
I had this problem in 10.5.X as well. When I updated to Snow Leopard this went away. Now with 10.6.3 it is back again.
I worked around this problem in 10.5 by installing switchResX and playing around with the settings for the monitor... I haven't tried that in 10.6.3 yet.
I hope Apple fixes this soon. Being forced to use 3rd party software just to use the mac is unacceptable.

hello, I had no keyboard flickering issues back when my iPhone 4 was on iOS 6.0.1 then I updated to 6.1 yesterday and now I have apps crashing frequently and keyboard flickering? anyone else having the same issue after the update? any known solution?

I'm having the same issue on my iPhone 4 since yesterday when I updated to iOS 6.1 from 5.1.1.
After about an hour after the upgrade, it crashed/rebooted itself and went completely white/grey screen with a brighter white line in the middle. My power/sleep button was broke already, so I couldn't do anything on it. I left it to drain the battery for about 6 hours. During that time, the edges around the white/grey screen became darker and darker like burn-in effect. After it ran out of the battery, I connected the phone to the PC through USB and iTunes let me restore it to iOS 6.1 firmware I downloaded before.
The restore was successful, but the entire screen keeps flickering rapidly, not just a part of the screen.
Is it hardware or software related issue?? Any idea?

Have you tried doing all updates (Windows, HP Support Assistant, BIOS)?Have you tried restarting the Notebook a couple of times?Have you tried to run the Windows Troubleshooter? TV screen flickers after connecting to HDMI cable with DV6 laptop

When i connect my ps3 to samsung LCD tv it works completely fine.  But When i connect my hp laptop to same tv. The screen start's to fliker after 2-3 mins. Tried different refesh rate's and resolutions. didn't work for me . Also updated my display driver but still same problem.  Many suggested that HDMI cable might be the problem. But if cable is problem how is it working with ps3 connected to same tv.  Help. PLZ

I understand that when you connect your TV to your HP laptop via HDMI the TV screen flickers. If you connect the TV to your PS3 it does not. You have tried different refresh rates and resolutions but there was no change. Your notebook has HDMI version 1.4 supporting up to 1920 ×1200 @ 60Hz as stated in the maintenance and service guide. Please note chapter 1 page 9 under Ports. HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC Maintenance and Service Guide Have you ran the HP Support Assistant to try and obtain any HP updates? Have you done all your Windows updates? You can also manually check the HP Drivers & Downloads   page. You will need to input your exact model and follow the prompts to display your recommended software and drivers. X1 Carbon screen flickering after Win10

Hi all,I have a big problem.Today I updated to Win10 (and by chance, also get the new BIOS). After several of these updates, I have noticed several problems. The Lenovo software installed are not responding as they should (they do not see that Win is updated, they keep reinstalling and several other flicks).However, my big problem is that, after waking from sleep or hibernation mode, the screen starts to flicker wildly, and at some times even goes black. I am not able to do any work. This does not happen however when I reboot; but the first time I put the unit to sleep, the problem starts.Does anyone have the same problem? Is it a Win10 or BIOS problem? Does the screen driver need to be updated for Win10 after the sleep/hibernation? Any ideas?

I also noticed this issue, although on my new x250. It happens most noticeably during the logout/shutdown screen, but also appears to brighten/darken sporadically when it's just sitting idle as well. Parts configuration: 20CMCTO1WWOperating system: Windows 10 Pro (with Hyper-V enabled) I also did reload drivers and utilities from lenovo's support page for my system (all 64-bit) , and it still happens. Maybe it's caused by some confilct in the Power Management Drivers? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Screen flickers after boot camp 2.1 upgrade

I have been running boot camp 2.0 and WinXP for a few weeks on my iMac 24" 3.06 Ghz 4 Gb running 10.5.5. I had installed the nvidia 177.98 drivers and they improved gaming performance and work great.
I installed the boot camp 2.1 upgrade and the video drivers changed back to the boot camp 2.1 drivers. I re-installed the nvidia 177.98 drivers.
I now have two issues:
1. the monitor is listed as generic plug and play. Is there a driver for the iMac 24" display?
2. My room is dark so I use F1 to reduce the screen brightness. The whole screen flickers or flashes continuously. IF i have the brightness up near make the flickers or flashing stops. Anyone sen this or have any thoughts?
If i can't stop the flickering and flashing, I will eventually delete the WinXP system and re-create it and stick with boot camp 2.0.

Before you re-do everything consider other options.
This is the procedure for uninstalling and installing drivers. A program called driver sweeper is required. To uninstall your old drivers you must boot into safe mode, uninstall your old drivers, use driver sweeper to eliminate any remaining fragments of your driver and then install new driver.

In the future, you might want to use something to regularly backup, but for now, WinClone can take a full snapshot image for restore, and runs in OS X. DataBackupPC from Prosoft Engineering (Data Rescue II folks) or similar backup / cloning software (Acronis doesn't support GPT and EFI, so no Mac support).

Desktop screen flickers after updating my nvidia GTX 680m driver on my MSI GT70!

Yesterday, I updated my MSI GT70 Dragon Edition's nvidia driver to the one suggested on my laptop'smsi page. Previously, It was running on the latest driver downloaded from nvidia itself (314.22) with no problems whatsoever. But I thought I'd give the msi's official driver a try, to see if it was better. The whole day, the laptop worked fine, even after restart, but after starting it and logging in today, the desktop screen was black and flickering. There was an Flickering error window that can't be read but the title that says ".net framework 4 error"!
Now I've googled the problem, and I might have found the solution, but I need to boot it to safe mode first, and I'm not able to. So if you, please, could tell me how to boot my GT70 to safe mode. Note that I'm not able to reach the "Run" window since the screen is black, and the laptop keeps restarting.

Anyways, I solved the problem!!
I knew that the problem was caused by the driver update, so I decided to connect an external LCD monitor, and the desktop screen showed right away on it. I was curious, so I disconnected that external LCD monitor to see if the laptop's screen went back to normal, and it DID!!! Anyhow, I immediately reconnected the LCD monitor to completely delete the corrupted driver (v314.22) and reinstalled the same driver again...
And by the way, the suggested way of approaching the safe mode when the PC is not normally functioning did not work, whatsoever! I sat for at least two consecutive hours trying it.. in vein!

T60 Laptop Doesn't Display On-Screen Volume After Hotkey Features Integration Update

I have a ThinkPad T60 (2008-HC6) laptop running Windows 8 Pro (32-bit). Today (1-24-2013), I installed the "Hotkey Features Integration for Windows 8" update that was released on January 18, 2013. After reboot, the on-screen indicator that pops up when I change the volume on my laptop by pressing the volume up, volume down, or mute keys doesn't show up. The keys work fine, but the indicator doesn't display.
I've already tried looking for a solution online. One common solution, installing Lenovo Energy Management, didn't solve my problem. No other software was changed on my laptop between when the power indicator last worked and when I installed the Hotkeys update.

I figured out the problem was with the "On Screen Display" portion of the update. This particular update has two parts to it. First, it adds the "Lenovo Patch Utility" program. Second, it updates the "On Screen Display" program, assuming that an older version was already on the computer being updated. Adding the "Lenovo Patch Utility" didn't cause any harm, but updating the "On Screen Display" prevents the on-screen volume indicator from displaying.
Ultimately, what I ended up doing was removing the "On Screen Display" with the same utility that I used to update it. Then I downloaded the next newest version of the utility and installed that utility's version of the "On Screen Display" program.
My on-screen volume indicator is now back and running fine.

Grey Screen Freeze after 10.6.7 update

I have 2 iMacs. My wife's is 2008 3.06 Ghz 24" model with Snow Leopard. Just updated to 10.6.7, and on re-boot we entered perpetual grey screen freeze ups. Followed guidance from support article - specifically to remove peripherals (attached were 2 USB devices - HP inkjet printer and WD 500G portable HD used as Time Machine. Also connected to LAN via RJ-45) After re-boot I changed network to airport to access LAN. When I re-inserted ethernet jack the grey screen immediately came up. Tried various combinations and ethernet connect always kills machine. Any ideas? I'm holding off on 10.6.7 update for other iMac.

Because I've had strange problems with past system update downloads, I now always get my system updates from http://support.apple.com/downloads/
I always use the Update Combo version. It installs a fresh set of all previous updates as well as the new one. This gives you a fresh beginning with system 10.6.x. Since I adopted that practice, I've had no more issues with updates.

Upper part screen darkens after EFI 1.1 update

After the EFI 1.1 update I am experiencing some problems with the screen of my iMac core duo 20". In OSX, after my mac turns back on from sleep-mode, after a few seconds the upper part of my screen darkens. It looks like the backlite panel dims slightly on the upper part.
The strange thing is it doesn't happen when I boot in Windows XP with bootcamp. I thought I was experiencing hardware problems. But this can't be the case because it works fine in XP... Anyone

Nope, didn't work.
Strange thing is: I've worked on my machine the whole day without any problem. But... when my iMac goes to sleep and wakes up, the problem appears in a few seconds. The whole screen darkens a few tints, and the upper part of the screen darkens a bit more.
If anyone knows a way to undo the 1.1 update. I can't find the 1.0 version anywhere on the apple site...

Screen flickering after restoring

I've found the problem that annoys so much...
I've decided to restore my 5S due to some bugs. I've restored it from DFU mode to iOS 7.1.2 and noticed that screen edges are flickering. After 5 or 6 restores flickering decreased but still flickers a little bit. It doesn't seem to a hardware problem but I don't know how to fix it...
Any ideas???

Garbled screen refresh after 10.4.4-Update

Hi folks,
after updating to 10.4.4 my PBook (TI,1GHz, ATI9000 with 64MB) did not refresh properly on external screen (1600x1200).
Symptoms: scrolling large text files will result in black lines (about 1/3 in the lower screen) consisting of the last letters of the line displayed properly (similar to a reversed matrix effect).
Or using Word 2004 often results in garbled page views. Only way round is to change screen magnification (eg 100% to 150%). This helps for one or two pages, than every scroll will reproduce the same garbadge.
Any hints?
Maybe using "older" ATI drivers?

Viewer Screen Black after Mavericks and Apertutre updates

Hello All, I have updated to Mavericks on my home iMac that is a few years old, and a new one at work that is 6 months old. Everything was fine and then I updated to Aperture 3.5. Now on BOTH machines, I am able to see all of my images in browser view fine. In split view the images in the filmstrip at the bottom of the screen are still fine, but the main image being viewed is black. In full viewer the image is completely black. It will indicate loading, show all photo info at the bottom of the viewer, but load as a black image.I can use an external editor PS5 without issue. I have completed the three step for the library first aid. When opening Aperture, the image may flash on the screen for a split second, and then show as black.
Apple support only seemed interested in having me sign up for Apple Care, even though this is a software bug, so this left me a bit unhappy. As a photographer that really needs Aperture running correctly, I'm at a standstill and may need to move to Adobe as an emergency solution.

Weird it is happening on two separate machines. Was the library from one machine copied to the other? What camera and are the originals Raw?
Try making a new empty library and import a few images into it, what happens? If it still fails there try running as a new user or from the Guest account if you have that enabled. Start Aperture and add a few images to a new library, what happens?
Also try looking at one of the original files in Preview, is it OK there?

Both the screen flickering after dual monitor setup in Premiere Pro CS6

I recently installed Premiere Pro CS6 in my PC. Then after I set up dual monitor in the Preference, the screens of both the monitor started to flicker until I stop the playback. Previously I used same hardware with CS5 but there were no problem.
