Screen flickers with multi coloured lines... then dies

I really hope someone out there can help...
My iphone is only a couple of months old (bought it first day of release in Australia) and now it is starting to break down.
When i press the home key, the screen flickers and has these strange multi coloured lines accross it. Then sometimes it will then restart on the apple logo.
Is there a fix, or do i need to send it back? Will they replace it on the spot?

Page 34 iphone users guide:
"If something is not working right, restarting or resetting iPhone will likely solve the
problem.
Restart iPhone: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears.
Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPhone. To turn iPhone back on, press and
hold the Sleep/Wake until the Apple logo appears.
Reset iPhone: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the
same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • MBP strange flickering blocks of multi-coloured lines on screen

    Hi
over the past few weeks when awaking from sleep my MBP 13" (mid-2012) has had this problem <a href="http://s1204.photobucket.com/user/sjwhite26/media/IMG_0035.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1204.photobucket.com/albums/bb404/sjwhite26/IMG_0035.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_0035.jpg"/></a> i.e. blocks of multi coloured lines flickering on the screen.
You can use the machine, but its incredibly annoying and and reboot gets rid of it.  My issue is that it is happening more and more.  I also have the issue when the MBP won't always wake from sleep when using the mini display port attached to my screen.  This is viewable on the laptop's native screen as well as the dell screen.
Any help would be appreciated.  I've tried all the PRAM etc resets.
    Thanks

Sorry we can't assist with that, you'll have to take it to Apple.

  • After startup screen goes multi-coloured and then restarts.

I started up my mac pro into windows today, a few seconds after it had loaded my desktop the screen went multi-coloured and then it force re-booted.
Anyone know what could be causing this? Will booting in safe-mode help, if so how can this be done on a mac?
    Thanks in advance.

It could be a graphics driver issue, or a hardware issue.  I can't say for sure without access to more information.  I would suggest performing full diagnostics testing, and if you are still under Apple Care, schedule an appointment for a Genius Bar and have them run some tests.  If you are no longer under warranty, they should still run the tests for free, but you would have to pay for any repairs.

  • TS3274 I have a new iPad mini w/retina display.  Recently, the screen flickered with red lines across the entire screen.  Anyway, the screen eventually went black. Now it does't work.  Anyone have any suggestions?

My screen just went haywire.  The screen flickered with red strips vertically.  I thought it was part of the game I was operating until the screen went black and a white strip illiminated at the top.  I tried turning teh system off, but it would not allow me to turn it off.  After about 5 minutes, I was able to turn it off.  Anyone have this occur?  The Ipad mini appears to be ok now.

    I Also have this problem!!
In my situation, the screen simply started exhibiting the same symptoms a few weeks ago (early February) for no apparent reason.  At first I thought the screen was dead, but discovered the heat solution by accident.  Now I turn it on and keep it from going to sleep until I go to bed.  Thank goodness the battery is still awesome on this thing.
I bought it new and still has the original screen, I keep it at home (never below 62 degrees).  Coincidentally, this happened a day or two after the expiration of the warranty!!  Any help figuring this one out would be eternally appreciated.

  • Ipod froze with multi-colored lines.

My iPod suddenly froze with multi-colored lines in the screen as I was waiting for an app to start. I tried holding both the sleep/awake button and home button at the same time to restart it, but it won't work. I tried connecting it to the computer itunes but it wasn't recognized. What should I do, help please?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    Ideas on how to fix?
The flickering doesn't always happen but does come back after some time of use.

From the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.

What operating system version, and do you have any backups of your data off the machine? TimeMachine? Option Key bootable clones? Storage? DVD's?
A reinstall of the operating system may be in order as a last resort, so if any of these steps on these links get you into the machine, make sure to backup your personal data (Music, Pictures, Documents, Movies) off the machine to a non-encrypted  powered external drive regular storage drive (not TimeMachine as it might be corrupted too) and disconnect as soon as possible.
Good Luck and report back all what you tried.
Also report what change occured before this tragedy happened, was there a  Software Update? A EFI firmware update? Etc.

  • Frozen Itouch with multi-coloured horizontal lines

On 1st January 2012 since 3am Sydney Australia time the Itouch now shows 1 cm of pixel thin - multi-coloured horizonal lines.  Pressing the sleep and menu buttons for 30 seconds does not power the Itouch off.
I had recently upgraded the itouch purchased 1 year ago to ios 5.01 - is it related to the upgrade?
Is it related to the date?
Please help....what can I do....all I can think of is to let the battery run flat...

Thanks IIIaass I really appreciate your reply.
When I followed your instructions.  After connecting the Ipod to its syncing computer it did not see it....and I also could not put it in recovery mode - by holding the two buttons at the same time.
...after about an hour of displaying the horizontal lines the battery went flat and the screen turned off and finally showed somed something different - the battery symbol.
I then put it on the ipod dock and it now works properly.
Thanks so much for your help.
    In summary if anyone notices:
that the reset buttons don't work, just let the battery run flat (rather than put the ipod on its charging dock)
....and stop playing with the ipod when it warns you the battery is low

If the issue continues, the information detailed below can help restore functionality to your Mac's display.
If you're using an Apple notebook, confirm the AC power cable or adapter is securely connected to the computer and the cable providing power to the display is also secure. It is always good to have your notebook connected to AC power when an external display is in use.
Confirm display adapters are fully seated in their respective connections and that they are supported models and for the computer and display. Refer to these articles to assist you with adapter compatibility and further configuration information:

Thunderbolt ports and displays: Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Remove all display cable extenders, KVM switches, or other like devices and retest to determine if the issue is resolved.
Try unplugging the video adapter or cable and then plug it back in.
If more than one video adapter is in use (or "daisy-chained"), troubleshoot by using only one adapter.
Example: A mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter connected to a DVI to HDMI adapter is an unsupported configuration because there is a series of adapters in use.
If available, try using a different display and or adapter (or use a different connector by using DVI instead of VGA, for instance).

  • IPhone 5 Battery stays at the same percentage, phone fades shows white and black lines then dies. Now phone screen is shaking and does the same thing.

My iPhone 5 which has been working fine has only today started to get these problems. The phones battery percentage stays at the same number and only changes if i swith it off or when it does it byitself but then stays at that number. When I use it it constantly turns off by slowly fading then showing white and black lines then going off. The screen is now shaking and keeps turning off. It was on IOS 6 which I just updated as I thought this could be the issue but it still does the same thing on IOS 7. Has anyone else experienced these problems or know what is wrong with my iPhone?
    Please reply!

Sounds like the device is failing. Since you updated to iOS 7, that would do the same as a restore. I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar at Apple to have the device checked.

  • Iphone screen - vertical grey and coloured lines

Would be interesting to know if anyone else has had a similar problem and how they got on. The phone has not been dropped or water damaged and last night a white screen appeared with grey and subsequently coloured vertical lines. It was on the table and working one minute and as described the next. The phone is still receiving messages, emails and calls because I can hear the bleeps but the screen is stuck on the vertical lines. I tried to reset etc but nothing. When plugging it into itunes all the information was still there. I tried a restore but still nothing.
I have arranged to send it back to Apple but I am concerned that they are going to say it is not covered - I know I should wait and see but it would be comforting to know if anyone else has had a similar issue.
Thanks in advance. Not looking forward to the next few days with no fun and feeling a bit fed up!

I've had a similar problem with my iPhone, only my display flickers and eventually had horizontal lines. The phone is only 2 months old and I have cared for it as if it were a crate of eggs. I took my phone to the 'mos at the Apple store twice. The first time the dude pinched the upper right hand corner of the screen and it fixed the flickering temporarily. Then he took it in the back and said the cable needed to be re-seated... but it only worked for 20 mins (I had already left the store). I returned a few days later and the dude said my moisture strip had turned pink, indicating that the phone had been introduced to moisture and was no longer covered under the warranty. The only way this phone could have gotten wet would be if I sneezed on it or possible sweat. I suspect the 'mo at the Apple store switched my moisture strip when he took it in the back. Obviously, the iPhone is unpractical for normal everyday use if it stops working after only 2 months. Then Apple expects you can just buy another one.

  • My IPAD screen shows a bunch of lines then goes black

When I turned on my IPAD2 the screen showed a series of different color lines, then went black
It worked fine last night any ideas on problems.
I have a lock code on it, so I can't even get in to unlock it.

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
