Screen Freeze with Magicjack and Passport

Both Magicjack and Passport freeze my screen forcing me to turn the computer off.  This happened following updating my IMAC to OS V 10.7.2.  What's my solution?

Thanks for this. Just taken a look at the Console log and the following is listed at the time of the latest crash:

No idea what all of this means, but it sure doesn't sound too good. Can anyone shed any light?

  • Frequent screen freezes with os 10.8.3

I am experiencing frequent screen freezes with OS 10.8.3 on my 27" iMac, Late 2009. Sometimes while using Safari, sometimes while using Photoshop CS5.1, Sketchup 8, or other software. Rarely does it coincide with a processor intensive operation. I have not had this problem since my old white G5 iMac. Then it was aleading indicator that the CPU or power supply needed replacing (I went through 5 processors and 6 power supplies with that machine.) I took my current iMac in to the Apple Store and had it checked out. Hardware checked out fine, but the freezes are becoming more frequent. Does anyone have any suggestions?

The next time you have the problem, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Scroll back in the log to the time you noted above. Select any messages timestamped from then until the end of the episode. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

  • Beatport problem -- screen freezes with some tracks...

It started happening since i downloaded Flash 10 --- the
screen freezes with a lot of tracks...when it's freezed, there's
nothin' else i can do with that page ( at least inside beatport ).
When i open another Beatport page, and go to the same track that
freezed before, it happens again... this is very bad, 'cause it
doesn't allow me to buy some excellent tracks... Does anyone know
    how to solve this ?

As JustinC pointed out, it would be better you were running a more 'mature' OS (also CoreAudio is part of Quicktime so if you have updated QT and not the OS you could, possibly, be running an incompatible version of CoreAudio, i'm not too sure about that.)
But considering the symptoms you mentioned, and the fact you are running very few audio tracks, I'm assuming you run a lot of MIDI.
The symptoms you describe sound a lot like a MIDI feedback loop.
You don't have any sort of inter-app MIDI routing enabled, do you ?
If you do, you need to isolate the inter-app inputs from the sequencer input, or be very careful not to select tracks which are assigned to an inter-app port (or 'all' ports)
Oh, and update the OS anyway, there is no good reason to stick with 10.3.0

I'm an very very casual gamer, i play games once or twice a week; in the last period i didn't played games for one month; i've used my pc for mail, office, watching movies, messenger, facebook, web browsing, hdd data recovery, programming php. Before upgrading to 970A-G43, i had the same configuration - except MB and RAM (i used for 4 years K9A2GM V3 with 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 800 KingMax and the actually N650-1GD5/OCV1; played games with no problems).
After the upgrade, i installed OS Windows XP SP3 with clean install, AHCI Mode, latest drivers - no problems 'till there. I have installed latest version of DirectX 9.0c and some games: Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Euro Truck Simulator 2, Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed. All with same problem: pc freezes with artifacts and then freeze - sometimes after 3-4 minutes of playing, othertimes after 10-15 minutes.
I've checked the RAM with MemTest86 for one night, no errors. I've checked the CPU and GPU Temperature, all stable (CPU around 40, GPU around 70 under full load). I've stressed up the system with Prime95 and Furmark latest version running at the same time - all stable (Tested for 30 minutes, CPU around 43 C, GPU around 85 C - no freeze, no crash).I installed 3D Mark 06, i ran it and it freezes in-time of first test or after it.
VGA driver was 320.49 WHQL initially, downloaded from nvidia website. I uninstalled it, cleaned my OS with Driver Sweeper, installed latest version from MSI Website (MSI Graphics Driver 306.81 ). Both drivers, same problems.
I'm pretty sure that there is no problem with PSU or MB's VRM (VRM supports 125W TDP, CPU is running 65W. My old boad K9A2GM V3 has only 65W and there were no problem). If there were problems, the system would crash in prime 95 and furmark running at the same time, i think.
I didn't tested yet my VGA on other PC, neither another VGA in my PC.
    Any suggestion would be appreciated.
P.S.: In BIOS, all is set on AUTO - except DDR Speed - Manually set to 1333 MHZ with auto timings.
C1E Enabled, Cool and Quiet Activated, EUP 2013 Enabled.
I have flashed MB to latest BIOS, v10.3; same problem
    Any suggestion is appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Best regards!

VGA Card is dead. Probably at least one memory chip died or has errors on it.  Testet on another PC and results are same, in 3D Mark and Crysis 3 too.
I sent the card to warranty services.
    Problem is solved.
Thanks a lot to all of you who read my post.

  • Screen freeze with odd squares and occasional crashing

I've had my new IMac 27" (2.66 Ghz i5) for a couple of weeks and it's crashed more times than Windows Vista ever did (about 7 times so far). Every now and again, the screen freezes (sound keeps going) and strange squares appear. The only solution is to hard reboot using the on/off switch.
Today it had trouble starting up again, requiring 2 or 3 goes before coming back to life.
Help! Any suggestions/fixes? Is this a common problem?

  • Startup screen freezes with vertical lines and a restart message

So this problem just started a couple of days ago it seems to be getting worse. Occasionally it will start-up but not often and at the moment it won't, I just keep getting this screen on start-up: http://www.flickr.com/photos/42697060@N04/3933706005/ and http://www.flickr.com/photos/42697060@N04/3934486754/
Not sure if this is the same problem people are having with the video card or not. Thanks for the help!

I'm getting the same look, with all kinds of squares and lines on screen, although mine starts while the computer is running with color reversals and lines on the working space. Then I get a freeze and have to do a hard re-start with the power button, and finally, what you're seeing. I did notice that when I unplugged the power adaptor, the problem has gone away, at least for the past 30 minutes or so.
I originally thought it was overheating, since if I shut it down and left it, it would re-start normally after 15 minutes, but crash again in 10 minutes of running. Then I came here, and read about the video card. That could be, but why only when plugged into the power adaptor? The power adaptor has been acting up lately, in that the light is sometimes off, sometimes amber when screen shows 100%, like that.
I'll plug back and in and see what happens, and put it here. 4:53 PM Saturday.
I'll keep fooling around with it, and report back here. I'll also make an appointment for next week with the nearest Apple store - 1.5 hour drive. Grrrr. I'm home with the flu this weekend. I'm tempted to go now and shake everyone's hand.

  • When I open a slde show in New Yahoo Mail I can't get back to Yahoo. When I click on the "back to Yahoo" button, the screen freezes with a gray cast over it and I have to use the back button and forward button to get back to my inbox.

This problem started immediately after I upgraded to Firefox 9.0.1
If I open my inbox in my New Yahoo Mail, then open an email with attachments and then open the attachments to "view as a slide show"....I can't close the slide show and return to the email by clicking on the "return to Yahoo" button. If you click on it, it returns to the first pic shown, and if you click on it again, the pics disappear and a gray haze appears over most of the screen but none of the features under the gray screen work. I have found that if I hit the back page and then forward page buttons, I can get back to my inbox eventually, but this is a terrible "pain in the ass"!

  • My MBP keeps freezing with red and black vertical lines. What's going on?

About once a week my early 2011 i7 macbook pro seems to freeze with these weird lines on screen.  I was using Adobe Photoshop CS6 and had quicktime playing an mp3 in the background.  Nothing out of the ordinary happened that I know of that could have triggered the computer locking up.
I took my MBP to the Apple store and they said it passed all diagnostic tests.  They suggested that since it is sporatically happening, it may be weeks before an answer is given to the problem that I am experiencing.  Here are some pictures I took when my mac last froze.

Were you ever able to resolve this?  My friend's early 2011 MacBook Pro with your same specs except with 10.6.8 just did the same thing while Google Earth 7.1.2.2019 was running.  Never any other issues, just happened out of the blue.

  • Start Up Screen Freeze With Lines Across Screen

The computer is the iSight version. In moving it from one room to another I shut it down properly. I had a back-up HD with Time Machine which I shut down properly. When I tried to restart it shortly after at the new location, the start up chime sounded and the Apple logo came on with the spinning wheel but the screen had light blue horizontal lines across it. The lines at first seemed squiggly but after restarting a few times, the screen seemed to be divided into vertical columns about 3/4" wide with one column having pixels colored light blue and the next column having the same coloration but the row of colored pixels was above the previous one. This arrangement alternated across the screen. I hope this is clear. After a while the spinning wheel and the screen froze and the computer would not continue with the start up.
I reset the SMU by unplugging the power cord, etc. but this did not work. I tried restarting in safe mode-negative. I tried restarting from the original disc-negative. Initially, it sounded like the disc was working because it makes a distinctive noise when a disc is working in the drive but eventually the same initial screen came on with the wheel spinning and then freezing. I tried the current versions of Techtool Pro and Disc Warrior and neither worked. The same thing happened. The noise from the disc drive but the same screen would come on and then the spinning wheel would freeze. Initially the screen with the Apple and the spinning wheel and the lines came on quickly but after a number of times turning the computer on and off, the screen remained dark with a faint light and when the screen came up, the spinning wheel was already frozen.
I use a flight simulator-X-Plane- a lot and some times when I leave it on, screen saver comes on and when I bring the screen back up, the first screen that came up and quickly changed had to do with X-Plane but not with what I was doing. Also, sometimes when I left it and came back there was a different screen but still part of X-Plane but not the screen I left before. I don't know if this is related to my problem or specific with X-Plane. I brought it up because this is the only thing that was different prior to this problem but may not be related. Right now, I've turned it off(obviously) and disconnected the power cord and the keyboard.
    Any help would be appreciated.

I've started taking the iSight apart. Detaching the plastic took some time and care but with only a few tears. Separated the screen. The main board is positioned such that the capacitors are on the bottom. So many connections and most of them small. Have to be careful. So many small screws. I hope I can remember where they all go when I put everything together-I hope. I'm at the point where I've turned the main board over so that the capacitors are showing. I hope I can reconnect correctly. Two capacitors have a slight bulge at the top compared to the others. Although I am not sure whether these two are part of the problem. There is another one that has no bulge but there seems to be some stuff on the top. It is not corrosion so I'm not sure whether it was manufactured that way or something is wrong with it. I finally found the battery. Just to change it is such a job. You have to disconnect a lot of stuff and turn the board over to get at it unless Apple technicians have a shortcut. Do you think the battery could cause the problems I have? Anyway, if I have the board exposed already might as well try and change the capacitors. I have not come across any video that shows how to expose the underbelly of the main board. Nor have I seen any video that shows what each part is. On the left side of the layout is an long rectangular shape covered over with black plastic. I haven't checked it out but I assume it is the power source. At the upper left there is a rectangular board with capacitors underneath but there are connections underneath that are so tightly stuffed that I couldn't turn it over but I could lift it up a little and see the heads of some capacitors and there wasn't any bulging capacitors or corrosion. There's one big capacitors under there. Much bigger then those on the mother board. Interesting observation. When I turned the screen over to expose its back most of it was frosted except for a small rectangular piece that was dark but glassy like and the glass like part lies exactly on the small rectangular board about 4X5 or 4X6. Interesting why this small section of the back of the screen should be different from the rest of the back and why it should be exactly above the smaller board. Like the previous versions of iMac, it would be so easy to be able to open the back and have all of the capacitors exposed. My next action is to contact one of the references you posted and see if I can get these three capacitors and the battery from Radio Shack or somewhere and solder the capacitors to the mother board. After all of this putting the whole thing together correctly without ending up with extra parts. One thing did break. Next to the fan in the middle there is a piece of metal attached to the back. There is a small narrow slot in this metal that another piece of bent metal seems to go into and was soldered to it and when everything is put together it seems, although I'm not sure, that this metal touches the back of the screen. It looks like I have to solder it back. I don't know what its purpose is, maybe it grounds the screen? I thought the piece of metal was something to pull in order to liftup something else. So far that is the only thing that has broken and hopefully can be easily fixed. But nothing that seems easy is easy.

  • Screen freezes with LOGIC pro 7 & OSX 3.0.any ideas?

    Hi
I have a G5 with dual processors and 1.5 ram/150gb HD. I am running Logic pro 7 on the original OSX 3.0 with a Motu 828mk2 firewire interface.
The screen freezes a lot (sometimes with audio still running) and the only way is to turn it off and reboot.
I am not working with lots of audio or plug ins (maybe one or two tracks at most).

    Yes!
    Here's a response from Intego...
    "Hello,
You will want to add your Time Machine drive to VirusBarrier X5's Trusted Zone so that the items are not scanned as Time Machine reads and copies to that directory.
You can either do this in VirusBarrier X5's Preferences, under the "Scanner" section.
Or you can add it using the contextual menu by holding down the Control key and clicking on the Time Machine backup volume. A pop-up menu will appear, in the "More" submenu is a submenu for "VirusBarrier X5" with a choice of "Add to Trusted Zone". Choosing this will add the item to VirusBarrier's Trusted Zone and keep it from being scanned by the background scanner.
    Thank you for choosing Intego."

  • Multi-Gesture Screen Freezes with IOS 8.1

Random screen freezes and crashes are still occurring on my iPad Air when using the Multi-Gestures feature, after installing IOS 8.1.  This problem started with IOS 8.0, continued with IOS 8.02, and is still present in IOS 8.1.  Apple, please fix this!  Having to reboot multiple times a day is very annoying.  Turning the Multi-Gesture feature off obviously stops the problem but is not a real solution.  If a feature is present, it needs to work right.

HHe's. A simple visit to Settings, disabling and then immediately re-enabling the feature fixes the issue. But just for a while.
APPLE: Do you hear us?  This should be a VERY easy issue to resolve. It's pervasive, well documented, and utterly annoying and frustrating. Please issue a fix ASAP.
