Screen freezes on an option-less gray screen everytime on launch; re-install does not help

I am on a Windows 7, 32 but machine. While closing one of the tabs on FF14, I got this gray screen which has been persistent since then. It was not a crash, and hence I do not see any crash reports in the appropriate folder.
I uninstalled this version (without removing user data), and installed 16, which behaves same. I do not get any options to start in safe mode - just a semi-transparent gray screen with (minimize/maximize/close) buttons.
Everything was running smooth, and I am quite sure it's not because of any plugins. I need to preserve my user data - how should I proceed ?

hello dpux, [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/940393#answer-377118 from another user] we found out that this might be related to malware active on your pc. please close all firefox windows and try [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode|running firefox in safemode]] (by pressing the shift key while you're starting it). in firefox safemode go to firefox > addons > extensions and remove the entry named "Codec v1.0" or any other addons that look suspicious & you have not installed intentionally. afterwards see if you can run firefox normally again...
please also do an in-depth scan of your system with the security software already in place and/or a different tool like the [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free free version of malwarebytes] & keep firefox and your plugins up-to-date in order to stay safe on the web.

With Safari open, press Command , (comma) to open Safari Preferences then select the Extensions tab.
Turn that off, quit (or force quit) Safari then relaunch to test.

I am not exactly sure why the menu did not detect the password change or if it was stored incorrectly after you changed it? But after storing the correct password you can manage any duplicate passwords in the password manager.[[Password manager - Remember, delete and change saved passwords in Firefox]]

Ok, sounds like the safe mode boot worked... You probably don't want to always be in safe mode though (some reduced functionality) so does it do a normal boot now? If not, you should then reboot into safe mode and run Disk Utility. Then select Macintosh HD on the left hand side, and click the Verify Disk button. If needed, it will ask you to Repair Disk. If there are errors found, Repair Disk again until there are none. Then try another normal boot and reply with result, wether good or bad.

I had a coworker who had this happen recently on his iPhone 5s, after updating to IOS 8. He took it in to a local AT&T store ( who his service was with), and it had something to do with an accessibility setting. What they told him to do to restore it , which worked for him, was tap the screen with three fingers at one time. Not sure if he had to tap it once or more using three fingers, but it fixed it for him...
Now don't know if that was just an AT& T thing or an Apple thing, but may be worth a try to see if it resolves your issue. His phone was pretty much inoperable until he did this to restore the screen to normal display...

My kindle does not want to open on my iPad. When I touch it - a grey screen
with kindle written in the middle appear for a few seconds. Then goes away.

Judging by the reviews of the current version of the Kindle app you aren't the only one haveing problems with it - it looks like Amazon need to fix something with the app.
Have you tried closing the Kindle app via the iPad's multitasking bar and seeing if it works when you re-open it ? Double-click the home button to open the taskbar, and then swipe or drag the Kindle app's screen from there up and off the top of the screen to close it, and click the home button to close the taskbar.
You could also try deleting the app and redownloading it via the Purchased tab in the App Store app on it (you will then need to redownload your books in the app, assuming that it opens).

I even saved the page because I could not save the image then when I right clicked again I could save the image. There is no pattern to when I can or can't save the image. Using Firefox 31.0 under MS Windows 7

What kind of context menu do you see instead?
You can right-click such an image and use Inspect Element to open the Inspector to see what gets selected instead.

Does this happen in case of any particular PDF or all PDF files?
Try repairing Acrobat and then again check.
