Screen Goes a Little Grey After a Few Minutes - How to Extend The Time?

I think it must be some kind of screen saver, but the screen goes a little "grey" after a few minutes of idle keyboard time, like when watching something on
youtube.
what setting is this and how can I extend or turn off this screen saver option?
thx -Craig

Hello,
The display dims to save wiggly amps at half time before sleep occurs.

You can adjust the settings in Apple menu > System Preferences... > Energy Saver pane.

    Hello charsepp,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
I understand that the touchscreen stops working after a short period on your HP L2105 Monitor. The first thing you are going to need to do is determine if this is a monitor or PC issue. To do this you should try connecting the monitor to another computer and see if the issue persists.
If the issue does not persist it is the computer, and if your computer is also HP I would be happy to assist you, but first I would encourage you to post your product number for your computer. I am linking an HP Support document below that will show you how to find your product number. As well, if you could indicate which operating system you are using. And whether your operating system is 32-bit or 64-bit as with this and the product number I can provide you with accurate information.
How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
Which Windows operating system am I running? Is the Windows Version on My Computer 32-bit or 64-bit?
If the issue persists when you try the monitor on another computer then the issue appears to be a physical issue and I think it would be best if you contacted HP technical support for repair options.

  • Sql Server 2008 R2 keeps disconnecting after a few minutes -- how can I prevent this?

I already went into the Sql Server Configuration manager and set the TCPIP Keep Alive value to 0 (default setting 30000). But still, after like 5 minutes it disconnects, and I have to re-log back in. The problem with this is that I will usually have several
#temp tables open -- then I have to re-create/populate all these #temp tables.  I'm running win7 SP1, Sql Server 2008 R2 Developer -- SP2. Is there something I can set in the registry maybe? What can I do to prevent sql server 2008 R2 Developer from disconnecting?

I wish to continue with thanks to all for replies.  The disconnect property after Query execution is not checked. And I am not sure about not letting my computer sleep.  Sometimes I have to leave
    it for extended periods.
    Good day Rich
    P123,
Sometimes for monitoring we have to do actions that are one-time in order to check our assumptions. In this case I recommend that you do this check :-)
you just need to check it once (like 24 hours), to make sure that this is the the source of the issue, or not :-)
In any case you can use screensaver, but make sure that you do not close disks as well.
    Please inform us your result

  • When i open my computer I get the white screen with apple symbol and there are vertical lines all over the screen with green pixels and after a few minutes the screen gets grey and I get message to restart my computer what happens

3 years ago I bought an IMac Desktop that I am using for a lot of things but the most important for dvd montage in Imovies and Idvd.
Now today when I opened my computer I get as usual the white screen with the Apple symbol but there were all over the screen vertical lines with green pixels and after a while the screen gets grey and I get message to restart my computer using the power button or the restart button and when I do so each time the same is happening somebody can tell me what is happening and what caused this. This computer is my work and now I have no income anymore.
On the Apple support site they are asking to enter the serial number and when I do so I get message it is wrong but it is the only one I have and I buy this computer in Cairo Egypt. I am living in Hurghada in Egypt for the moment. When I call the technical support of the shop where I buy it they are telling me that it is the hard disk or ram and that I probably lost everything on it and they are asking a big amount to repair.
Can somebody advise me on this matter. Thanks in advance

You can find the serial number either in About this Mc in the Menu bar under the , or it should be on a sticker under the foot of the machine.
If you have the install discs, try booting from them, holding down the c key and then using Disk Utility to check the drive.
You can also boot into Safe mode
To start up into Safe Mode (to "Safe Boot"), do this:
       1. Be sure the computer is shut down.
       2. Press the power button.
       3. Immediately after you hear the startup tone, press and hold the Shift key.
Tip: The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone but not before.
       4. Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple and progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
During the startup in Mac OS X 10.2 through 10.3.9, you will see "Safe Boot" on the Mac OS X startup screen.
During the startup in Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you will see "Safe Boot" on the login window, which appears even if you normally log in automatically.
    Please post back with results,
To leave Safe Mode in any version of Mac OS X, restart the computer normally, without holding any keys during startup.

  • HT3180 Hi, I've tried to re start mt apple TV after relocating. I get the Apple logo on power up & then it searches for time & date. After a few minutes of doing this, the screen goes blank. I have no menu screen - nothing??

I have no idea what to do? I can't reset my Apple TV because I cant access settings. Mr remote is blinking three times indicating it's not paired, so I can't reset it that way!
    1. Power on and Apple Logo aphears.
    2. TV trys to find time and date ( not the new start up language, location etc)
    3. Screen on TV is blank
    4. Try remote and Apple TV just blinks three times.
WIFI Network is pefect & pairs with all my IT
    Please help

    Obviously, your network isn't perfect.
Assuming this is not the first time you have used your Apple TV
You might try restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Also try restarting the router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
If the problem persists, try a restore, you may want to try the previous procedures several times before doing this.
If restoring from the Apple TV doesn't help, try restoring from iTunes using a USB cable.
If this is a new Apple TV, in addition to trying the above, it may also be that your network router is not allowing access to the timeserver, check that your router allows access over port 123.

  • G5 going to pre-sleep after a few minutes - why? and is this normal?

    Hello
My G5 will go to, what I'm calling pre-sleep, if I leave it alone for less than 5 minutes. Basically, when I come back it will take a few seconds to get going in motion again - saying if I stop a video or something in iMovie. Is this normal? I turned off the option for Energy Saver and turning the hard drive off when possible...but it still does it.
    any suggestions?
    thanks
    Chris

Uncheck the "Put the hard drive to sleep when possible"
If this is what you did already, then check your processor performance settings, it should be Automatic as default.
You might have some sort of network or internet connection problem, disconnect physically, reboot and see if the problem continues.
Your hard drive could be near full, keep it below 50% ideal to 80% max.
Are you running any anti-malware or anything in the root level? Hacks or haxies? APE modules?
Have you backed up, c booted from Tiger install disk and Disk utility Erase w/zero and reinstalled Tiger fresh?
Did you do a Tiger over Panther upgrade? (not good)
Descibe what your "sleep" is in more detail, just a lag or?

  • Flashing file folder with a question mark when starting my macbook after a few minutes it shuts down, any ideas??

When turned on our Macbook flashes a folder with a question mark in the center screen, then it shuts down after a few minutes.  Doea anyone have any ideas how to boot the computer back up?
    Cheers

That folder with the question mark icon means that the MacBook can't find the boot directory. That can either mean it can't find the hard drive or the Operating System data on the hard drive is somehow corrupted.
Put your install DVD into the optical drive and reboot. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c" key on your keyboard (or the Option key until the Install Disk shows up). That will force your MacBook to boot from the install DVD in the optical drive.
When it does start up, you'll see a panel asking you to choose your language. Just press the Return key on yourkeyboard once. It will then present you with an Installation window. Completely ignore this window and click on Utilities in the top menu and scroll down to Disk Utility and click it. When it comes up is your Hard Drive in the list on the left?
If it is then click on the Mac OS partition of your hard drive in the left handlist. Then select the First Aid Tab and run Repair Disk. The Repair Disk button won't be available until you've clicked on the Mac OS partition on your hard drive. If that repairs any problems run it again until the green OK appears and then run Repair Permissions.
If your hard drive isn’t recognized in Disk Utility then your hard drive is probably dead.

Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.

  • 8520, call ends suddenly after a few minutes, repeatedly! (grey phone icon appears)

Hello, i have this problem today, when somebody calls me, after about 10 mins talk, the call suddenly ends, and the phone kinda shuts off because if they try to call me, my answering machine jumps out. After a few minutes, the icon that appears, which is like a missed call icon but all grey, goes away and people can call me normally again, but again after a few minutos the call hangs out and the icon comes back again.
Any idea how to solve this?
    thank you.

Hmmm...well, if we take what your provider told you, then your best course of action might be to do a clean reload of your device OS. I'd suggest these steps:
    Backup your BB:
KB12487 How to backup data on a BlackBerry smartphone
Do a clean reload of your device OS:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Device-Software/How-To-Reload-Your-Operating-Syste...
Do selective restore of your critical data only (don't to a full restore as it might restore something that was causing the problem -- just restore, for instance, your calendar, contacts, tasks, and email databases...select the least amount that you can get by with):
KB10339 How to restore data from a backup file to a BlackBerry smartphone
Then run for several days with it in this bare minimum state to see if the problem happens. If it does, then head back to your service provider for additional support. If it does not, then start slowly adding your other things back on, waiting several days between. When the problem happens again, you will know exactly what is causing it as it will be the last thing that you added back.

  • After a few minutes the Touch Screen doesnt work properly anymore. (sporadic Touchscreen errors)

Hi,i use my phone like i always do and after a few minutes the Touchscreen starts making errors and it quickly gets worse till a point where i cant use it anymore. After shutting down and leaving it for a while, the described case above starts over. And thats the only thing which seems to help. I searched through this forum, but to be honest i didnt read all, there are too many post about Xperia Z1 touchscreen problems. Some speculated what the cause of this problem might be, and they were not even sure wether it is a software or hardware issue!?Software repair with PC Companion didnt help.I reviewed Touchscreen settings, didnt help.
Most important to me the question, is this problem covert by sony warranty? Thank you

Hi, This in reference to the complaint registered before. I have been facing touch issues on my Sony Xperia Z1 bought in Feb 2015 from Spice Hotspot. I had given it for repair at Sony service center  in July 2015, wherein it was delivered to me after 15 days stating that hardware has been replaced and the issue is no longer there.  But I am still having touch issues and they are even worse then before after the repair. I am unable to type even for 5 seconds continuously the screen goes crazy and starts typing, selecting on its own. I want my handset replaced or return my money back. This phone has become a pain rather than convenience. If you do not act on it asap I am going to consumer court and will file a complaint against you.  Thanks,(**bleep** annoyed Customer)
