Screen going light gray with thin lines...

throughout the entire screen...vertical lines...first time this has happened...
I've got a late 2008 mbp...last one before the move to unibody i think...mbp 4.1 it says for model identifier...
this didn't affect the large screen i have attached to the computer, only the laptop screen...
after a few minutes the screen turned back to normal...
did a hardware test and got this result:
4vdc/1/40000003:video controller
it then said detach all attached items and do extended hardware test...which I did and got the same result...
Can someone tell me if i need to send my computer to Apple please?...my apple protection plan is good until April 4, 2011...
right now the screen looks normal, but the hardware test shows i have a problem...
thanks for any help and advice...
M

Just an update...spoke with apple here this morning and I have an appointment for Monday morning to bring the computer to an apple store, guess it's the genius bar, and they'll check it out...I'm happy to be able to discuss what's going on with someone...happy they opened this really big store here in Montpellier last year...
The woman I spoke with suggested doing an archive and reinstall of my system before the meet...I'm not sure why...this seems to be a hardware problem, at least that's what the Apple Hardware Test shows...but I may try that tomorrow...any harm in that?...
also, my screen is now normal, not showing signs of there being a problem, so I'm wondering how this will be handled...but I do know if he/she pops in the disc and does another hardware test the problem about an error will be there...I tried the test again this morning and got same result...
anyway, I'm just worried about the logic board/nvidia card blowing up 'after' my apple care expires next month...I'll voice my concerns at the Apple store on Monday...

  • The whole screen goes pink suddenly with vertical lines.

Our iMac is 3 years old and lately we've been getting this thing where the screen suddenly goes pink with lines down it and we have to turn the power off to get ris of it. Once it went white. I'm really hoping this is something we can deal with and fix before it becomes fatal. We absolutely cannot afford a new computer right now. Anyone had this happen? Know what it's about? Below are my computers specs.
    Model Name:          iMac
      Model Identifier:          iMac8,1

  • I am installing the latest update on Mountain lion. ( Itunes) . Screen went light gray, no progress bar, and is been running for about two hours. Help!

I am installing the latest update for Mountain lion (the iTunes update) . The screen went light gray, with no progress bars, and has remained that way for several hours. Help!

In this case, hold the Power button until your computer turns off, and then, turn your Mac on again. It looks like your computer got stuck during its restart, so it shouldn't harm anything on your computer

  • My screen on my mac has become loose and goes all glitchy with vertical lines

My screen on my mac has become loose and goes all glitchy with the whole screen covered in vertical lines, it also has a lump at the base of the screen when it closes but that can be pushed down, All can be fixed by placing the screen carefully but it is increasingly difficult - HELP

Bring it into an Apple store genius bar for a free evaluation.  If your MBP is not under warranty, you will br told what the costs are which you can accept or decline.  Look at iFixit.com or Powerbookmedic.com for do it yourself options.
    Ciao.

  • Marked objects connect with thin line

I work in CS6. When I mark two or more objects they automatically connect with a thin line (and a white square) between them. They are still two separate objects, but the connection between them is shown (and they can be dragged together). Is it possible to change this setting?

That's the selection bounding box, and no, you can't change it.
The bounding box is going to change to be the smallest rectangle that completely encloses all of the selected objects and may look quite different from what you describe if the objects are not the same size and aligned vertically or horizontally.

  • Cisco IP Phone 7945-G or 7965-G screen goes blank randomly with SCCP firmware 9.2(3) on CUCM 8.6(2a)

    Hello everybody,
    I have the following situation:
A WAN VoIP network, with centralized call processing model (central site and few branches)
Cisco IP Phones 7945-G and 7965-G running SCCP
    Cisco Unified Communications Manager 8.6(2a)
SCCP firmware Release 9.2(3) for the above mentioned hardware models
The problem that occurs randomly is that either when the firmware was SCCP firmware Release 9.2(1), or it was upgraded to SCCP firmware Release 9.2(3), approximately 5 Cisco IP Phones, the screen goes blank, the phone being still operational (but difficult to operate in such circumstances), and the problem persists until it is disconnected from PoE, and re-connected.
Please if possible, any solution to this problem is much appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.
    Radu

    Hello  again,
In addition to  what I already mentioned, I would like to detail a few aspects, in order to be  more specific with this behavior:
    -          From the total number of Cisco IP  phones which is less than 1000, this behavior happened randomly, within 1 month  and 3 weeks
    -          Actually, it was a total number of 8  Cisco IP phones whose display went off, 4 being located in Headquarters, and  from the other 4, 3 were in the same Branch, and 1 in another  Branch
    -          Also, 7 IP phones are connected in  non-Cisco switches with PoE, and 1 IP Phone was power supplied from AC  adapter
    -          initially, all existing IP phones  had firmware Release 9.2(1) for 7945G and 7965G, and the mentioned behavior  happened with 4 IP phones
    -          then, for all IP phones, it were  upgraded to firmware Release 9.2(3) for 7945G and 7965G, but problem re-appeared  with other 4 IP phones
The only  solution that solved the issue for each IP phone was to disconnect the power  from the IP phones.
I hope that you  might help me on how to get solving this problem, and I am looking forward for  any useful idea or solution.
    Many thanks in  advance.
    Regards,
    Radu

  • IPod Touch screen has gone white with grey lines

I have had my iPod Touch for a year and a half, so unfortunately it is out of warranty. About two months ago it started behaving strangely. Every other time I turned it on there would be a white screen which after a few seconds would get slightly darker with vertical grey lines. The screen was still responsive, and you could hear clicking. Turning the iPod off and back on would resolve the problem and the screen would reappear with no problems at all.
Unfortunately this got worse. Now I am unable to turn the iPod on without getting the white screen with grey lines. The iPod is still responsive. I can plug it into itunes and browse it normally.
I've reset the iPod many times and completely reset it through iTunes with no luck.
Any suggestions? Is this a hardware fault and is it possible to resolve? Or is there something else I can try? Any help would be very appreciated.

My old Touch 2G has the same issue. The Apple Store Genius couldn't tell what's the problem. However, I observed that the white grey striped display appears almost every time (or at least far more often) when the iPod lays on a ground. It is fixed by tilting it 90°, so that the dock connector is pointing to the ground.
And sometimes the density of stripes changes by pressing home (no, I don't mean switching from spotlight to first home screen page, because this happens in lock screen, when home button does nothing) or pulling out the dock cable. So I think it's something near the dock connector and home button. Hardware fail, maybe the not so fitting dock cable in the rounded dock connector is the issue.

  • Picture in table appears cut with thin lines

I'm working on my CV and now I'm hampered by the following misbehavior of Pages:
I made up a table with 7 rows and 3 columns. The 2 leftmost columns contain my personal data, the rightmost colum stretches over all rows and contains a picture of me. Now when I export the document, the picture appears cut with horizontal lines. As if the table rows cut the picture into pieces. Unusable.
    Anyone confirm this misbehavior?
    Is there a workaround?
And: how do I file this as a bug?

I apologize but I'm not a sooth sayer.
To which format are you exporting?
    Word or PDF ?

  • Battety problems - blank screen wit battery sign with red line

I have the blackberry 8900 curve. Recently when I put my phone on charge it would turn my BB off and turn it self back on again. My battery was about 2% and I put it on charge and the phone turned off but when I looked at my phone the red light came on and then blank screen with a battery sign with a red line through it.
I got some advice to take out battery, sim card and memory card. Which I did and my BB turned back on. However my battery was still dead so I put it back on charge and it turned off and since then my BB hasn't turned back in. I've left it on charge and nothing.
Would really appreciate it if someone could help me out on this.

  • Blank screen showing battery sign with red line - possible solution

    Hi to everybody,
I had a little issue with my Blackberry curve 8350i, but I think this might go with several models. One day my Blacberry updated an application and restarted, but when restarting suddenly I got a blank screen showing a battery sign with a red line. I took out the battery and put it in again, but no luck. I searched on many forums if anyone experienced the same as me. I found a lot of topics but no solution. I called tech support of my service provide and fortunatelly I talked to a tech guy who was willing to help. He said that this error message usually might appear when the battery is faulty, not original (not my case) or device is not working, but before taking a final statement he wanted me to try something first. He said to take out the battery, the SIM card and any extern memory card. Then to clean any contacts with air. I followed his instructions and after that the device worked again without any problems. I would like to share this experience on this forum maybe this will help other to to solve similar issues.
    Best regards,
    Julix

  • Screen goes light blue randomly, nothing do be done

So I have a mac mini g4 1.25 with 1 gig of ram with the latest version of tiger. Randomly, the computer will stop working and display a light blue screen with no cursor or anything. No dock or menus, just light blue. It really is random, it has occured while using quicktime, firefox, or itunes and I can't seem to establish a pattern. I think that the finder is quitting but not restarting. Typically it happens after my computer has been running for a while but I can't use my computer for more than a day without having to manually reset it due to the blue screen. Has anyone heard of this or does anyone know how to restart the finder via keystokes? Here's what I have tried to do:
    Reset the PRAM
    Ran disk repair utility
Uninstalled various programs (but my tiger install is recent, i.e. <3 weeks)
    Please help!

anyone? I was thinking about reinstalling tiger but the whole point of owning an apple was that you dont have to reinstall like winblows xp.....please help!
