Screen 'greys' when click MORE INFO and nothing appears
Hey there,
I'm having immense difficulty uninstalling an application. It has locked items and so it won't trash. I have tracked these items down and have begun unlocking them by using the list view and drilling down until I get to MORE INFO. At this point the item used to pop up showing Locked and I could just remove the x against locked and so eventually, after doing this countless times, unlock all the offending items and trash the stupid app. But suddenly, after doing this successfully for ages no little screen pops up when I hit GET INFO. Instead it all goes a delicate shade of grey and I can't do anything. I have two questions. 1. What do I do now? and 2. Is there a way to unlock all these things at once by doing it one level higher?
They are, incidentally, all spreadsheet outlines in an accounting program I use (MYOB Account Edge) and although I have spent lots of time with the MYOB support desk I am a Mac user in a PC world and they are well-meaning but essentially uninformed about their program on this platform, even though they sell the Mac product as well as the PC version.
I have, incidentally, checked for an uninstall program for this but can't find one, and the support desk also said just put it in the trash.
Help greatly appreciated. I thought I'd found a way, albeit laborious, with the individual unlockings, and now even that isn't working.
Is there a way to unlock all these things at once by doing it one level higher?
Open the Terminal application in your /Applications/Utilities/ folder and enter the following:
chflags -R nouchg
followed by a space. Drag the folder into the Terminal window and press Enter. This command will usually unlock all locked items that you're the owner of anywhere inside the folder you dragged into the Terminal window.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Since I downloaded Apple's latest operating system, whenever I try to open Illustrator I get a message that I need to install legacy Java SE6 runtime and to click "more info" to do this. When I click "more info" I get a blank window. What should I do

I had the same problem after upgrading to Yosemite. Illustrator CS6 wouldn't open. I got a message saying I should 'install legacy Java SE6 runtime'.
The link didn't work - it lead to a blank page.
So I downloaded Java8 (latest version) from Oracle but didn't install it. Something told me this was not the right way to go (the problem was with Java SE6, not 8). I then called Apple (in the Netherlands, were I live) for help. I got none. The best they could do was blaming Adobe for the problem or me, for not having the latest Adobe CC app. Rubbish.
And then, magic. I tried to open Illustrator again, got the pop up message but this time the link worked. It took me to an official Apple page, with a link to download Java for OS X 2014-001. The problem is now solved.
If curious, this is the explanation Apple gives for the problem:
'Java for OS X 2014-001 includes installation improvements, and supersedes all previous versions of Java for OS X. This package installs the same version of Java 6 included in Java for OS X 2013-005. On systems that have not already installed Java for OS X 2012-006 or later, this update disables the Java SE 6 applet plug-in. To use applets on a web page, click on the region labeled 'missing plug-in' to download the latest version of the Java applet plug-in from Oracle.'

When I plug in apple tv the status light just blinks amber and nothing appears on the screen
When I plug in my apple tv (first gen) the status light just blinks amber and nothing appears on the screen. The status light never turns white and won't stops blinking amber. I've tried to over ride this with the remote, resetting it and trying to revert it to the factory settings. Is there a way to wake it up or is it a lost cause?

The system looks like it's unable to start up, this could be software but more likely hardware, either way unless it will start up there is nothing a user can do to resolve this. -

I have a user who when in Sharepoint she clicks edit document, and nothing happens.
It works fine for everyone else, including myself.
I have repaired office, and uninstalled/reinstalled it.
I have tried in IE and chrome.
We use o365 office 2013.
So to recap, in sharepoint, clicking the ... button for more options, then choosing edit, does nothing. HOWEVER, when right clicking and choosing to open, it will then, start a download which can be opened then proceed to edit that document.
But that darn edit button does nothing...Hi,

When I open about this mac -> more info and I switch through the tabs (display,memory,storage,support,service) it lags (fps drops, animation looks choppy not smooth) even though all the mac (programs , interface ) works smooth . Why does this happen? (over 300 gb free,same programs installed,free desktop-downloads -no garbage there- everything neat and tidy.) Need some help. Only there it the animations goes like 2 fps and is not smooth. I do not understand why because the programs are the same so its the usage. my iPhone 4s keeps showing more space being used for photos than i have -
i have deleted cache folders, unselect and reselect in iTunes I read one post
where they said keep syncing and in a couple days it would correct itself, that

Some have found that the page may turn up blank to start with, so it may be necessary to reload the page.

Hello. I am trying to change the colors on my ical. I have been able to select a calendar group, click "get info" and then "other" in the color options and which point a a lot of color options are available. HOWEVER, I can't seem to select the color. I click on a new color and press enter and nothing happens...not sure what I am doing wrong.

I a running Vista 64 bit on a HP touchsmart relatively new computer. I have been using Firefox 3 and have had nothing but troubles since I downloaded 4. Finally got that to work and now that I have downloaded 5 sometimes it works perfectly and sometimes when I open it seems to load up another version and nothing appears in the screen area even though it says in the address bar it is at the home screen (or any other site I go to). If I completely close out Firefox and my AT&T communication Manager dial up modem and then reopen it will sometimes then open the proper version perfectly - any thoughts??
Well since you asked, On my old system which I am still using, I experience
the blank frame on a regular basis but usually only when I have about 20 or more instances open with more then 850 meg of memory in use by firefox 25.0.1, also it tends to crash when I approach a gig in memory usage. I never complained about that since that system is an older dual core that was in place upgraded from vista to win7 pro so it is a special case that may not be good for evaluation. I plan to move to the Lenovo as soon as I am confident it is stable then I will rack it out with similar usage
and report any meaningful information.

Did iWeb '08 mess with my site?
