Screen image getting a yellow tint after being on ~2 hours.

My display is getting a yellow tint to it. It seems to come up after I've been using the display for a while. If I go into the display preferences and change the colour profile I can get it looking normal for a while by increasing the blue, but then it will slowly continue to get yellow.

I think a pram reset will help http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=2238
By the way, dont regret not getting a powerbook, there displays are much more prone to problems. Not to mention the worse battery life and warping aluminum due to overheating etc.. Bah im so glad i got an iBook

  • No monitor profile available. Yellow tint after import

Hello. I have bough last week a new Toshiba notebook which has Windows 8.1 preinstalled on it.
I have noticed a problem that seems other came also on the same issue. When i watch images on a non profile managed software, the images look fine. Once i import them on Lightroom or Photoshop, the images get a yellow tint.
The problem and a possible solution is also described here: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1164320 . This is setting the sRGB as a monitor profile. I know this is not a great solution, but surely better than what i see on my monitor. In any way, this unfortunately this did not work for me.
This is what i mean with the yellow tint (left Lightroom, right Irfan)
    Today i tried following:
    Step 1
The image is in RAW format. I import it in Lightroom and gets that yellow tint i described.
I export it with sRGB in jpg format. The jpg file has still that yellow tint.  Please note here, that others that report similar problems, they mention that after the export they image looks again fine.
    Step 2
I open the RAW image with Irfan (not color managed) and save it as jpg. The image is saved "correctly", as you see on the right side of the image above.
    Step 3
I import the exported jpeg that was created with Irfan and import it to Lightroom.
The yellow Tint now does not appear on the imported JPEG.
One more tip i can give is: When i do a Soft proofing on Lightroom and choose sRGB i still see that yellow tint.
What exactly is happening ? I try to identify the problem. Why i see just raw images with this yellow tint, no matter the profile i set for my monitor and no matter the proofing options on lightroom.
I don't want to spend 100+ euro for a calibration device and not being able to use the profiles.
Any suggestions for further testing ?

First - Irfanview needs to be at least IV 4.35 and needs to have the LCMS.DLL plug-in installed as well as having the Color Management enabled so that you have some chance of your Photoshop and IrfanView versions of an image matching:
Alright we have the first conflict here.
I have the latest IrfanView version (4.37) , i saw that the Lcms.dll exists in the plugin list, and i have set the settings as suggested.
Furthermore at the moment i have sRGB as my default monitor profile. Still this is how i see things.
IrfanView and Photoshop have the same difference as before. Yes i have rerasted IrfanView on every change. I actually freshly installed also the latest irfanView version with its plugin.

    About this
As you can see the Adobe default processing with the Adobe Standard profile, at top left, is a little greenish.  This is compared to the default camera processing as viewed in the camera-embedded preview jpg from the CR2 at the bottom right which a white frame around it.
When i open the raw image on LR, i have (from what i can see on my monitor) the same results as your Adobe default processing (Top left) . What confused me on your image above is bottom left image "Adobe processing - Camera standard". What is with Adobe processing meant here? The camera profile? If yes then how can we have Adobe camera profil but also camera standart ? If you mean the process LR provides, mine is set on 2012. But no adobe available for selection. I do not know if this is meant though.
Here is my comparison between Adobe Standart Profile and Camera Standard.
LR: Adobe Profile vs Canon Standart Profile
One more comparison is of the files you made available including the IranView jpg you supplied as compared to the Canon JPG preview that I extracted from the CR2 file:
What you can see is that the CR2 as viewed in LR and LR's exported JPG of that CR2 look about the same (top and bottom left), and the IrfanView and Canon-JPG versions of the CR2 look the same (top and bottom right).  This is your IV version of the JPG, not something I made, but I expect IV has just extracted the camera-embedded fullsize preview JPG from the CR2 file just like I did using a different tool, so they look the same, but it is possible your IV is using a Canon-specific plug-in that uses the Canon-supplied SDK library DLLs that can also duplicate Canon processing.  I only have the Formats.dll and the CRW.dll but not all the extra SDK DLLs so I expect my IV is only extracting the camera-embedded preview JPG.
Yes i can confirm that also on my environment. The exported CR2 from LR matches the  exported JPG as also there is a match between IrfanView CR2 with the Camera standard profile export. Unfortunately i cannot confirm if IrfanView uses a sort of Canon-plugin to make the RAWS rendered automatically with the Canon standard profile.
And if you want your Adobe treatment of CR2 files to look much more similar to your camera's treatment, then use the Camera Standard profile in Lightroom and the PS ACR plug-in.
Question on this. Should i always put a Camera Standart profile on all my images after importing them on LR ?
Also please, let me know what you meant with Adobe Processing. I searched on the web with "Adobe Processing lightroom" , but i could not understand what is meant.
If using the Camera Standard profile doesn't make things look almost the same, then please post a side-by-side of LR's view of the CR2 and IrfanView's JPG extracted from the CR2--what you've linked to, just above.
Here is a comparison between an exported JPG from Lightrom with camera profile (Right) compared to an exported JPG with IrfanView from the RAW (left). As mentioned before the images look identical, with the one exported from LR with Camera profile being a bit more vibrant. But not much of a difference.
    IrfanView vs Camera Profile export
So in the end it seems you see also that green-yellowish cast on the RAW image. From what i see on the screenshots you made.
The question now is why i do not see RAW the same as Adobe software ? Could i do this test with an other viewer?
To summerize from my side as well. A monitor calibration is surely good to do. On the other side the cast i see on the RAW in this case has not to do with the profile but rather with Adone profile and the way this image was captured.
PS. I must admit that is one of the best on line support i have ever seen. Thumbs up ssprengel !

Make sure you have the right system requirements before you start to update the iOS, you will need:
Apple ID (required for some features)
    Internet access
Syncing with iTunes on a Mac or PC requires:
Mac: OS X v10.5.8 or later
PC: Windows 7; Windows Vista; or Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 3 or later

    Normal or not?

    I had the same problem,
You need to change the color profile to this one:
    http://idisk.mac.com/sacha.rod/Public/Color%20LCD%20Ca
    librated%20by%20Sacha%20Rod.icc
Let me know if it's ok after using the new color

I will give it a try.....but how do I do that. I down-loaded the profile but don't know how to install it?

  • Installed new HD on Mid-2009 MBP, installed Mavericks, now getting "error code -50" after being on for a while.

So I had the stock 320gb drive that came with my machine. It started crashing, so I pre-empted the loss of data and installed a spare Western Digital 500gb Scorpio Blue drive, installed Mavericks, and restored my data. Almost immediately I began having sporadic issues with the machine being unable to write to the disk, giving me "error code -50" after being on for about a day or so. I usually just restart and it will work for another day or so, but this is getting very tedious, and I'm a bit worried it might be straining the machine, since I can only hard restart (holding power button) when this happens. Usually, right after restarting, I repair the disk permissions, and this seems to fix things.
Is this maybe a bad OS install? Maybe I should back up and try it all again? Or is there a software issue I'm not seeing a solution for anywhere? Most people who are getting the "error code -50" messages seem to be getting them on external drives. Is it just a compatibility issue and I need to seek a new drive?

    Thank you for the tips!

    Reteep,
you could try the same thing as well.
In my case I doubt it is the problem because it worked fine before Mavericks, although forcing restart may have done something. I hope disabling SMS helped.

The adobe reader update won't install automatically. Both Adobe & Firefox remedies say that a yellow bar will appear at top of page after you click on "install". I don't get a yellow bar, nor can I find any box for editing allowed download sources.

The instructions on the Adobe site are outdated and do no longer apply to current Firefox versions and you can ignore those instructions and save the Adobe installer to your desktop and start the installation with a double-click on that file.

  • My screen has lines and yellow tint and at start up left third is white, right 2/3 is black

My screen has developed lines and at start up, the left third is White, the right 2/3 is black. Then it works again. Then it starts a loud noise like it's burning a DVD. Then it works again.

There is a known problem with a yellow tint on i7s.  I suggest you call Apple Care and tell them about it, it should still be under warranty.

  • Why do images appear different in Photoshop after being processed in Adobe Camera Raw?

I would assume that the screen image would appear the same in each application.

Probably you are using different color profiles in the two applications, eg: you are using Adobe RGB (1998) in photoshop and sRGB IEC61966-2.1 in Camera Raw, this causes differences in color and in some cases large differences, such as lack of vibrance and saturation.
check the profiles you are using:
    Camera Raw:
just check the blue text under the image, to change it just left clik with the mouse, a windows will apear.
    Photoshop:
In Photoshop just press Alt+Shift+K or follow de above image.
Sorry, but, my Photoshop language is Portuguese.

  • Screen appears to have yellow tint

I'm just setting up a 15" MacBook Pro 2.4 which I'm migrating to from a 15" PB G4 1.67. I have the 2 machines running side by side at the moment. When I first started the MBP the screen already seemed a little strange but I simply thought that it unfamiliarity, as i have found before when changing machines. But as I progressed and set up the same screen saver configuration etc on the MBP, it is SIGNIFICANTLY yellow compared to the PB. I tried going to Prefs> Hardware> Displays and doing a custom adjustment to remove some yellow but it seems to just make it muddy, as though the yellow is physical colour in the screen, rather than an RGB in-screen tint. The PB screen, by comparison, is clear and neutral.
Is this a reason to talk to Apple about it for service or am I being paranoid and missing some settings?
    Message was edited by: PaulWR

The are owners who feel the current MBP with their LED display do have a yellow hue to them. However, I've not noticed much of a difference when comparing it to my previous MBP (the previous C2D model) as well as my Dell 24" display. All display have been recalibrated with a gamma value of 2.2 rather than the default 1.8 which may negate what you're seeing.
Be aware that your PB might be skewing what you see as it's different colour gamut and white point might throw you off. But yes, you're not the first to feel this way.

  • Screens do not turn back on after being turned off by windows power saving

I have Windows 7 on my T410 set to turn off my monitors (I use a docking station) after 15 minutes of inactivity.
The problem is that when I come back to the computer, I cannot get the monitors to come back on.  They actually turn on, but remain blank.  No matter what I do they won't come on.  This happens every time.
I have found that if I close the lid and make it go to standby mode, and then open and come out of standby, it will SOMETIMES make the screens show a picture.
What is also weird is that when I open the lid, sometimes Windows will ask me for my password, and then after I enter it, the screens will go blank again.  So I have to keep going to standby 2 or 3 times till it works.
This happened both on the Lenovo version of Windows 7 and my own clean version of windows 7 that I installed.
    Any ideas?

For the time being I think I'm just going to plug my modem directly into the ethernet port. I can't stand that this ******** is happening with a brand new iMac when I just got done dealing with a fried iMac G5. Is Apple ever going to make another iMac that doesn't have something wrong with it?
If anyone knows of any fixes or other helpful information I would greatly appreciate it.

  • Laptop screen won't turn back on after being waked up from pm-suspend

I installed pm-utils and acpid to make my laptop sleep when the lid is shut.
To do this I altered my /etc/acpi/handler.sh to look like this
    http://pastebin.com/9DgQQ30Z
    Changing lines 57, 58 and 59 to:
    button/lid)
    #echo "LID switched!">/dev/tty5
    /usr/sbin/pm-suspend
    esac
The laptop suspends completely fine, and the power light turns from a solid light to flashing. But when I open the lid, the laptop wakes up fine, except for the screen which just stays completely black.
I can't do anything to get it back on, I even can't switch to any virtual terminals, forcing me to to a hard reboot.
This happens also when I just run "sudo pm-suspend" normally with the lid open and use the power button to wake back up. Wakes up fine except for the screen.

First thing that would be helpful to know would be to know what kind of computer you have (e.g. model).
I actually had an identical problem with my laptop. It ended up being an issue with the wireless drivers included in the kernel. Ultimately had to blacklist them and install the ones from the vendor's website. Anyways, start with the model, and we can try to help you from there

  • Images not removed from memory after being disposed of

I am trying to load an image, take a thumbnail of the image, store the thumbnail in an arraylist and then discard the image before moving on to the next one.
Here is some compilable sample code. it brings up a open file dialog. select a few images and watch as the memery usage goes through the roof (make sure they are decent size, i am using 1600x1200)
I think the reason it is not working is because the image isnt being flushed after the thumbnail is taken as there is still a reference to it in mem.

  • Problem with filters not finding an image in LR 4.0 after being edited in Photoshop CS6 beta

I am running Lightroom 4.0 on a Win7 Professional 64-bit system. I have come up with a strange problem I can describe but don't know how it can more generally be duplicated, unless this is a Photoshop CS6 beta bug.
I am looking through in Library module at a shoot. When I filter by a keyword that some of the pictures have, a recently edited image does not show up. Here is what I mean; let X=IMG_6260:
    1) For X.CR2, edit in Photoshop CS5. All works well - X-ed.tif gets created and added to my LR previous import set.
    2) Clicking on X-ed.tif, edit in Photoshop CS6 beta. All seems fine - X-ed-2.tif gets created and added to my LR previous import set.
    3) The keywords on all three images - the original and the two edits - are the same. I can confirm that by, in grid view, selecting these three and noting no asterisks in the composite keyword view. One of the keywords is the person's name - let's say it is "Sara".
    4) Now, when I click in the keyword list on "Sara", all images in this most recently imported set show up with her *except* X-ed-2.tif - the one created by CS6 beta.
Strange! Should this be reported in a CS6 forum? Thanks.

Yep, it returns nothing. Debug output seems to be largely irrelevant except this oddity:
