Screen is grainy and colors distorted.

Hi everyone,
Currently, my Macbook Pro (early 2011) is experiencing graphic display issues. My screen's is grainy and somewhat pixelated, which makes the color distorted. I resolved this problem once after closing and opening my lid (sleeping and turning it back on), but now that does not help anymore. I also noticed that, in the past, when I restarted or shut-down my computer, it would have random color distortions on the blue screen as well. When I try to take a screenshot of this problem and open the picture on another computer, the picture appears fine, so i'm assuming its an issue with my screen.Also, when I turn on "Automatic graphics switching," my System Profiler information still indicates that my AMD RAdeon HD 6750 is running.
How can I fix this problem? Thank you!

System Preferences/Display/Display
Check the Colors & Brightness settings.
My Color setting is set to Millions which I believe is the default setting.
Now click on the Color button.
Check Display Profile
Is Show profiles for this display only enabled or disabled?
If necessary click on the Calibrate button & do the necessary.
Now in the bottom right corner, click on the purple button w/the black *?* mark in the middle. This will bring up the help window.
Midway down, click on the Colorsync Utility link.
The next window should be Profile First Aid.
Read & follow the instructions/details of About Profile First Aid: & do the necessary to Verify & Repair.

Help! during my photo slide show/some screens are green and/colored-why

This is my first photo slide show in IMOVIE 8, when I go to "play" my slide show, some photo are NOT showing up INSTEAD a "colored" screen comes up. WHY? Not sure what I did wrong.

I to have the same problem. It is very annoying, I name my photos so that they would be in a specific order or grouping.
It appears that a programmer slipped? When I write code to copy files I would sort the list by filename as done in OS versions prior to 4.0.
The order of the photos is now in the order that they were added to the folder which is then sync'd to our pods.
I for one am not willing to remove and rebuild my whole photo library re-adding the photos to the sync'd in the order I wish to see them every time I wish to add more photos.
It is a disappointment, but I have not been online in a couple of weeks and maybe Apple has caught on and put filename sorting back into the code.

My macbook Freezes and color distorts!?!?

I have the black Macbook. Just the other day it froze after being on for about 2 minutes and the screen distorted. I restarted the computer and now the same thing happens during the load up. I can't even get into my desktop anymore. Any idea whats going on?

Probably either RAM or a graphics card. You can try the Apple Hardware Test:

And if you are handy you can try pulling your RAM sticks out one at a time and switching their positions.
Most likely, though, you will need some kind of repair. If you are still under AppleCare, you can have it serviced for free.

Screen losing brightness and color fading

I have a 4 yr old Powerbook G-4 and the past two weeks have notices the brightness of the screen is fading as well as the images (screen saver). It is beginning to be difficult to see the files I have on my desk top. Will an adjustment help - what might that be? or do I have a much bigger problem?

i have the middle macbook c2d...bought dec. 2006. i guess i have an lcd screen....so you're saying i shouldn't use a screensaver?? i have it set to run for 30 mins or 1 hr then sleep. it's of all my pictures...i really like it.
i was taught to ALWAYS use a screensaver to prevent the screen from burning out.
so what would you suggest as an alternative?
what does anyone else think??

RAW, light and color distortion

I just started using RAW files on my camera. I have a Canon T3i. I have a MacBook Pro Retina 15" operating on Mavericks. I just uploaded about 1200 photos (trip to Alaska) and started to judge and edit them etc. As I was looking through, the image would look just like it was on my camera. It would load into Lightroom, correcting focus etc and the color as well as the amount of lighting would completely change. It would get a little darker and the colors would fade. I have no idea why its doing this but expect it has to do with my versions ability to edit RAW files. If there is a solution for this I would really like it but am accepting now I might be SOL.

This is a normal phenomenon when working with raw images. Every raw file contains a JPEG preview. That preview will reflect all the in-camera adjustments that you may have made when you originally took the picture. Lightroom displays that JPEG preview initially while it generates a new preview based on the raw image data. Lightroom does not read all of the in-camera settings such as saturation, picture styles, and other camera settings. So the new preview of the raw image data will be without those adjustments that were made to the JPEG preview image. You are starting with the "raw" image data so that you can manipulate the image to your liking. If you find that you're making the same adjustments consistently then you can either create presets that will apply those adjustments, or you can create new default settings for your camera so that they will be applied automatically whenever you import new images.

My tx is so slow, the web cam is not working, the screen freezes and got color distortions

- My tx is so slow, and heats up very fast... so i think that the advance is not working properly
- the web cam is not working, since the 3th time iused... when i try to use it with my msn... got freezed, then y try ending the process and doesnt work, y have to restart it but it stay just on logging off... and do nothing more... so i have to switch off directly from the power button

Screen is on a bad LSD trip - flickers grainy psychedelic colors then black

when i power up my laptop (from off or sleep) the screen drastically flickers grainy psychedelic colors then goes black then flickers back to colors then back to black (etc.etc.) ... each day this process goes on longer than the day before ... am afraid one day it won't come on at all ...
a friend said it was probably the video ram ... can anyone confirm this?
a little more than a year ago i had a new LCD installed because it had started getting faint dark spots ... the first time i booted it up there were occasional blips of strange colors but they only lasted a few seconds so was not able to demonstrate to repairperson ...

thankyou for taking the plunge ...
i'm sorry, thought i mentioned the screen was developing dark spots hence my reason for having them look at it ...
However, the main reason i took it in was it had begun to overheat and the VERY LOUD fan would stay on forever and drive me crazy! in 3 years it had never done that and with the warranty about to expire decided to have everything done that i could ...
the apple repair is 4 hours from me or i would have taken it back immediately but in the beginning the problem was so infrequent they might not have been able to detect it anyway.
now that you have a better picture, i bet you tell me i should drop kick this baby into the stratosphere, right?
any idea how much a new logic board will set me back?
(if you're in So Cal double it and you'll know what it'll cost in england ... i moved over from l.a. 2 years ago and the price of things STILL freaks me out!)

Color Distorted Screen Freeze

Have you ever seen a crash/freeze like this? The screen goes completely bonkers, with a very pixelated color distortion, and is unresponsive. One time I tapped the trackpad, and it flickered back to normal appearance, but remained frozen. It's a 15" macbook pro, last generation model with all of the latest OS updates. Any suggestions, warnings, and feedback is appreciated. Thank you.

Does the issue happend in other games too?
Have you tested VGA in another machine?

Color distortions/grainy look

I have been getting distorted colors for different elements such as images. It doesn't happen to everything but it does happen to the same element everytime.
for example this is my location bar in Firefox:

Yeah it's dead. Take it to an Apple Genius Bar and have it checked out. Then buy a new one.

I now have the pallete on the right side of my screen. But, I am unable to change the color of the brush. I move the eye dropper over red and click on it. A panel comes saying 'Pure Red', I click ok but the brush color does not change.

Sounds like hardware failure.
Try a reset. Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the red slider.

What I want to do is somehow make my entire iMovie project smaller by compressing it somehow but without losing any footage or audio or quality. At the moment the project is a 56GB iMovie project lasting approx 1hr. I have a mixture of miniDV footage, titles created in Live Type (they are better quality than anything available in iMovie) and audio.
The miniDV footage is automatically compressed when it transfers from my camcorder to my Mac, no worries there.
The LiveType titles contain a motion background (imported into LT) and then text which appears and disappears at set points. The titles vary in length but are about 5 seconds each.
The file size for the LT titles is approx 180MB per clip, the movie requires about 20 or so of these clips, making a very large file size overall.
Is there a way that I can save something in LT so that the file size is smaller yet still keep the quality and use the clip in my iMovie ?
