Screen light burned out

My screen light seems to have burned out. My computer is probably about 6 years old, so I was wondering if this can be fixed?

After reading a couple of the other thread (such as "17" PBook display colors are off .. bad" and "screen not working since last update") I was able to fix the problem. I think what must have occurred is the recent computer update some how reset some of my display preferences and it turned the brightness way down. All I did was go to System Preferences then Displays and adjusted the brightness.
Thanks to those that posted the other threads

  • Halo Lights Burned out

My laptop is still under warranty as I purchased it in February from the Lenovo Store. The blue halo lights that run the lenovo logo no longer function, and I was wondering if I can purchase new bulbs or whatever because I don't know how halo lights work exactly.
The other colors work, only the default blue color fails.
    Please Assist.

It is better to use the adapter of proper wattage to recharge the battery.
Apple says that a power adapter of higher wattage can be used.
Quoting from below linked article from Apple:
    Power Adapter/ cord wattage
“Power adapters for Intel-based Apple notebooks are available in 45W, 60W, and 85W varieties. Although you should always use the proper wattage adapter for your Apple notebook, you can use an adapter of a higher wattage without issue.”

  • Hp 2000 notebook pc screen light

my laptop screen light went out so I hooked it up to an external monitor til I can get it fixed, but the odd thing about it is it comes on by itself and then will go back out. What can it be ?

Hello barajas, welcome to the HP Forums.
I understand that the light went out on your screen, that sometimes it comes back on but will go out again. I will try to help you with this.
From how you describe this, it could very well be a loose cable in the display screen. The fact that it mysteriously works for a bit, is what makes me thing this. That would be something to have looked at with whomever is "fixing" the notebook for you.
As another resource for the issue, I do recommend reviewing this document: Resolving Problems with Notebook Displays (Windows 7).
I hope that's able to help you.
Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.

  • IMac screen dead. LCD burned out.

iMac screen is dead. Tech says the LCD burned out. He said that I could connect it to a tv, via mini DVI to VGA; VGA to tv. I get the Leopard screen on the tv, but no tool bars, top or bottom. Can't turn extended screen mode off, due to black screen on computer. Tried F7, Command F7 and Command F1, none work. Any new suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Do you know if the LCD screen has a bad backlight, or is the screen data drive bad? If it's just the backlight, shine a strong light on the screen, you should be able to see everything, just dim. I can estimate clicking on the Apple menu, then with a strong flashlight, I can easily see the dropdown menu to pick the System Preferences, and then to Displays and mirroring.
Perhaps you can tell us the exact model of iMac you have. We can devine that it's likely an Intel iMac with mini-DVi, but often folks are wrong about their details. Details can make all the difference in figuring out something you can do.

  • My LCD screen burned out. I have it connected to a tv now, but can't get the menu bar or the function bars to show up. Please help!

My LCD Screen burned out, but the computer still works. I currently have it connected to an HDTV via, Mini DVI to VGA, VGA to VGA on the tv. Problem is, I can't get the function bar (maybe not the right term) or the bar at the bottom with all my programs on it. I get my screen saver and have managed to drag (by sheer luck since I can't see anything on my iMac screen) some of my pics I had on my desktop over, but nothing else. Please help!

    Hello
you should have on your key board "mirroring key" , or F7 on old keyboard
for now your tv is an extended screen for your imac not a miror , so you can not see menue barre on top of screen

  • IPod "Photo" Screen Burning Out?

I got a 60 GB iPod Photo a few months ago, and I've noticed that the screen has slowly been turning weird colors in a streak that's growing from the bottom edge. It reminds me of the way TVs look when the bulb inside of one is burning out.
I spend a great deal of time walking with the iPod in harsh weather conditions like extreme heat and cold, so that could have something to do with it, maybe.
Has anyone else experienced something like this?

It's been affected by magnets. One explanation for this is that your headphones have been in contact with the screen for a long time.
You can degauss the screen by moving the headphones over it in a certain way. I discovered this when placing magnets on a screen destined for the trash.

  • Can USB extension cable from nano burn out tower's USB port?

I recently plugged my 1GB nano into my Mac flatscreen's USB port and got a message that this port was too slow. I used it anyway but it did take a looong time to charge the nano. Normally I use the two ports in the screen to park a couple of dongles and since that port is slow for iPod purposes , I decided to buy an unpowered USB hub, 1 to 4 variety to run from the tower.
My G4 is in a closet with a not-so-accessible port on the back so I have a 6 foot extender cable coming from the tower which connects to the hub and from there I plug in my camera and keyboard - but so far not the nano. The guy at the store where I got the hub told me that an iPod nano recieving power from this settup might burn out the USB port in the back of my G4. So I haven't tested that! Anyone know if this is true or if it's just uniformed blather from a drugstore computer sales tech?

The "too slow" message you received has nothing to do with how long it takes to charge the Nano, it is telling you it will take longer to sync the Nano. If the port on the screen charged your Nano it didn't take any longer than any other port will.
A USB extension cable will not burn out the USB port on your computer.

  • Nokia 700 screen/keylock time-out

    Hi
Hope somebody out there can help! I have to manually lock my phone as the screen/keylock time-out which i have set for 1 minute does not work. As a result of this i have to charge my phone every day as the light stays on and quickly drains the battery.  This has'nt always been the case, just the last 2 months. Thank you

Have you tried option to re-install exisiting device software within Nokia Suite > Tools > Software updates? Then try device without restoring any "Settings" in case corrupted.

  • N97 screen light

Hi on my n97 whenever the screen is slided out the screen light doesnt seem to go off after 60 seconds ( what I have it set to ) however it does go out if the phone is NOT slided out. and the next morning I have no battery left.
    thanks

The problem still persists with FW 22.0.110. Sometimes plugging in a headset seems to cause this particular "flavor" of freeze (one of many with the N97).
Recently however, I have discovered a new problem. The display backlight no longer turns off.
Timeout is set to 45 secs, auto-keyguard is on. Recently the light just stays on after placing or receiving a call or reading/sending texts so when I am at home or at work and just put the phone on the table and walk away the battery drains very fast with the lights on.
The usual fix (remove and reinsert battery) does work. Nevertheless this is just one more added annoyance of the N97.
Ever seen a black lemon? They turn black when they rot. My N97 is black. 'nuff said

  • Adjusting the volume brings screen light on.

I recently got a new iPhone 4s from Apple due to a technical fault with my old one, once I restored it from my back up and added songs to the phone, I noticed that whenever I have headphones in and playing music, when I adjust the volume either by the buttons on the side of the phone, or on the headphones control the screen on the phone lights up. I never had this with my previous phone, I cant seem to find any setting which will turn it off. It's annoying as it doesn't help the battery life.
Has anyone experienced this or knows how to prevent this from happening?
(the iPhone software is up to date & not jailbroken)

  • Why does my backup drive keep burning out?

I've burned out three backup hard drives within the last year and a half  The first was a Buffalo 500G, then a Toshiba 500G and then another Buffalo 500G.  The first backup was had its own power supply but the other two got their power from my Mac. Time Machine settings were all normal but I did notice the drive's light seemed to be on a lot when Time Machine was not backing up.  The power to my Mac and the drives is stable and relatively consistent.
Has anyone else had this problem and is there a solution for it?  Losing three drives in less than 18 months makes me think it's a Mac software issue as opposed to poor quality drives.  Thanks for any insight.

That drive is bus powered, as Klaus1 suggested ONLY use EHD's that have their own power supplies.
The drive I would recommend is:
