Screen light dim?

Just yesterday after adding new albums to my ipod, when turning on the screen (while playing music) the screen light was dim. I tried several times to turn off and on, sometimes it was fine, sometimes it was dim. And when it was dim it could last a second or a lot.
Today as it keeps happening, I removed the new albums from the ipod, and tried again with the older albums and no dim light. just perfect.
So? albums have something to do with the screen light? is a problem of the tracks? or the ipod?
Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance

You know that there is an auto brightness function on your Touch, do you? On the front of the Touch, at the top left, just above the display is a small circle. This is the brightness detector. The setting for it is in *Settings/Brightness/Auto-brightness on or off.*

  • Dual Monitor + Lights Dim/Lights Out

Forgive me if this has already been discussed:
I have 3 monitors, two high resolution main monitors and a 21" Cintiq.
(My normal mode is to open PS on the Cintiq, put all menus on one of the high res monitors and use the other high res monitor for a larger view of the edits that are being made on the Cintiq.)
Lightroom is single monitor, and I can live with that for now but there is one feature - Lights Dim mode and Lights Out mode - that just plain does not work if I want to use the other monitors to open any other application. The monitors without Lightroom are also dimmed or blacked out, so the other application becomes useless.
Here's an example: If I'm running Lightroom on monitor 1 while also viewing one of the Luminous Landscape Lightroom Tutorials on monitor 2 I can't use the Lights Dim mode or Lights Out mode - it dims or blacks the video. Ouch! (Maybe there's a preference setting I haven't found yet?)

I don't think this is a bug. The whole point of the "Lights Out" feature is
to minimize and remove distractions while you are evaluating your images for
color, color casts and exposure. So, I am going to guess that Adobe feels
the other screens to also be a distraction. They could be right. However,
given that I figure a good number of people may not feel that way
(sometimes, not all of the time I am that way. Three monitors here by the
way) needs to add a preference setting that lets you decide which monitors
go "Lights Out" similar to the slide show playback monitor selection option.

  • Screen light auto turn dark when I use program/web with background dark in windows 8.1

    Hi there,
I used HP Pavilion dv6t-6000 CTO Quad for 3 years.
    CPU: Intel core i7-2630QM
    GPU: AMD Radeon 6490m
It build in windows 7 and I manual install ( fresh install ) windows 8. It's fine. But when I upgrade to windows 8.1, it have an issue and I really hate it.
When I use "Sublime Text" ( with background is black ), the screen light is become darker. And when I back to ( e.g: a website with background is white ), the screen turn back to lighter.
I tried many ways, included 4 ways here but it's NOT WORK.
    NOTE: When I used Option 1 ( upper )
    1. Open PC settings, and click/tap on PC and devices on the left side
    2. Click/tap on Power and sleep on the left side, and turn on or off Adjust my screen brightness automatically on the right side under Brightness.
==> It's NOT SHOW button "Adjust my screen brightness automatically". It mean: I have NO built in auto brightness sensor.
I think this issue is about AMD driver or Intel Graphic driver.
    Is anybody have idea???

i grasp that after updating your system from Windows 8 to 8.1 you are having an issue with the display going dim.
You have tried some steps you located on the web but there was no change.
Windows 8 an 8.1 are not supported Operating Systems for your notebook.  This does not mean they will not work only that HP has not tested it and therefore does not supply updated drivers.  You would need to check the manufacturer's site for any updated drivers.

  • Help! Problem with screen lighting.

Hello, I can't figure out how to control the light on the screen. After a minute or two if I'm not touching the tracking pad, the screen just dims which is very annoying when reading an article. How do I change the settings to prevent it from dimming so quickly?
    Thank you.

    Hello Heidi
Take a look in System Preferences....Energy Saver. You may need to change the amount of time that elapses before ur display goes to sleep.
    Hope this helps..

  • Screen light decreased suddenly

The Screen light of my macbook pro decreased suddenly, l just moved from desk to bed, it was turned On, and plugged in with the electrical cord, don't understand why it happened! it's new and never happened this before.

There are two sets of power-saver settings, one for the power adapter and one for battery alone.
On battery alone, the screen will dim to about half brighness if you do not use it for a minute or so.
All of these settings are adjustable in
    System Preferences > Energy Saver

  • How do you prevent screen from dimming while on power adapter?

I don't want the screen to dim while I'm connected to the power adapter. In the Energy Saver module, it is optimized for better performance, which sets the following parameters:
-set to sleep when inactive (never)
-put the display to sleep when computer inactive for 30 minutes
Nevertheless, after periods of inactivity, the screen will dim (not sleep). I can't seem to stop it from doing so. Any suggestions?
    YoungTurk

There are two things that will dim the screen - the Energy Saver and the Ambient Light Sensor.
In the Enerygy Saver panel select "Options" and then there is a check box that you need to uncheck. Since it is one the Options screen you may have missed it.
With respect to the Ambient Light Sensor, I think it should remember your settings once you set a brightness.

  • LR screen problem: dims automatically in loupe view

I have a bit of a problem that appeared the past weeks... Lightroom dims the screen in loupe view; when I adjust exposure or click into a menu, the screen lights up again, but dims very fast once out of that... makes it near impossible to correctly edit exposure.  Cycling to light settings doesn't help any; checked power settings on the display adapter as well... but since it does not happen in other software on my Win7 64-bit, it seems LR specific.
I don't recall having changed any settings though; not sure what is triggering this.
Hope someone can help out, because LR has been pretty useless to me for a few weeks now.

This can happen whilst LR is rendering larger previews for the second monitor. It should only take a very short time and "rendering larger previews" should appear on the screen until it has done so. You can set how long LR retains these preview files in the catlog settings.

  • After switching Equium U400 ON screen went dim

    Hi,
Over the last week my laptop seems to have a strange problem! It was on standby and I opened, the screen lit up as normal for a few seconds an then went dim. Now this happens all the time, when its booted up the screen lights up as normal for a few seconds but then dims again.
I have tried taking out the HDD but the same problem occurs in BIOS. I have recently changed the FL Inverter but the problem is still there! When connected to a external source (HDMI) it is fine, but when the laptop screen is in use it just stays dim all the time, if I shine a bright light on the front of the screen I can just about make out whats displaying. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Zak

it can be a few things but based on my experience its a defective inverterboard.. they fry from time to time.. its the little board that supplies ur LCD screen with that massive amount of power it takes to create the backlighting.. if u attempt to replace it ur self keep your fingers at distance if its powered on.. theres huge ammounts of voltage in that little board .. pretty harmless as theres no current almost but its gonna light up your finger like a christmas tree :)
inverter boards is around 28 eur i guess and they are fairly easy to replace.. (but if ur not good with a screw driver take it to a authorized workshop)
but before u do this take alook at ur "dim switch" at the screen if there is one of those.. it could be dust or something else pushing that litte button down and that would keep ur screen from lighting..

  • Ipad 3 screen not dimming

Hi all I think my auto brightness on my Ipad 3 is not working, it will brighten up once I go to a lighter room which is great, however if I go back into a dark room the screen will not dim automatically like it does on my 4s? Just wondering if this is normal, using IOS 6. Thanks!

Technically, not its not normal. The screen should dim. In my own experience, I have found auto brightness to be a flaky feature in any iOS that I have ever run on my iDevices. It come and goes. I never notice anything but very subtle differences anyway with auto brightness and rarely pay any attention to the screen brightness at all.
in all fairness, I use my iPad in virtually the same light conditions all of the time - never in the bright sunlight - since you can't see the screen anyway in the bright sunlight - and I don't use it in a dark environments either.

  • Macbook screen suddenly dims

    I own a Macbook 3.1.
Since a couple of months I face the following problem:
My screen suddenly dims. This outcome of this malfunction is as if I dimmed it with the F1 button. However, I can see the screen but it's dimmed completely. When I use F2 button to give some more lightness, I see that the lightness icon appears in the (dimmed) screen but nothing happens.
The only way to "fix" temporarily the problem and restore the lightness of my screen is to close the lid and open it after a couple of seconds.
I recently upgraded to Lion but this happened also when I had Snow Leopard OS installed. Futhermore, it seems that this happens when the CPU is at high performance (ie write a CD/DVD, or running my USB TV card).
I 've also tried to reset the system management controller, the problem stoped but it appeared again after a couple of days.
The specs of my macbook are the following:
    Model Identifier:          MacBook3,1
Processor Name:          Intel Core 2 Duo
    Processor Speed:          2,2 GHz
    Number of Processors:          1
    Total Number of Cores:          2
    L2 Cache:          4 MB
    Memory:          4 GB
Is there any solution that could fix my problem?
    Thanks in advance!

My USB TV Card is the following:
    AVerMedia H830M
    Has anyone encountered something similar?
Does Apple technicians follow this forum?
If not, where can I open a case?

  • Ibook G4 screen remains dimmed

My iBook G4 screen remains dimmed as if it is about to go to sleep all the time, but in fact I am in the process of using it. Everything looks slightly darker than it is.

Hi again, try using the F2 button, it should make your screen brighter and the apple light on the back of your screen should light up too, then when your comp is inactive it will dim as usual, then when you use it it should go back to noraml brightness - or at least its worked for me! hope this is helpful

  • Screen remains dim after waking up on virtual terminals

I am having a strange issue when the display gets dim and won't get bright again, but only when I am no a vt.
I have an older (~4 yrs) Dell Studio 1737 with a Mobility Radeon inside with the xf86-video-ati driver:
    $ lspci | grep -i vga
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] RV635/M86 [Mobility Radeon HD 3650]
    $ pacman -Qq | grep xf86-video
    xf86-video-ati
    $ lsmod | grep radeon
    radeon 754282 2
    ttm 65132 1 radeon
    drm_kms_helper 35086 1 radeon
    drm 229990 4 ttm,drm_kms_helper,radeon
    i2c_algo_bit 5391 1 radeon
    i2c_core 22479 6 drm,i2c_i801,drm_kms_helper,i2c_algo_bit,radeon,videodev
When I leave my computer on one of the virtual consoles (vt2 - vt6) and it is idle for (I think) 10 minutes, it gets dim (via DPMS, I guess?) . However, I can't make it go bright again - after I move the mouse (which I am not sure makes any sense since I have no mouse in the vts) / press any key, nothing happens.
Now, the strange thing is, when the light is right, I can just see the text, but it is very, very dark and unreadable. Under normal circumstances I can see nothing and the screen can't be told apart form a blank black display. Actually, I had thought it was blank for a while until only recently, when I had the Sun shining against the display.
I wrote a simple script whose name is 'b':
    echo 10 | tee /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness
and I left the console as root (!) for 10 minutes (!) and when the screen went dim I called 'b' and nothing happened. I have no other ideas about how deal with this one - I tried reading and looking around, and have pretty much nothing. Does this problem ring any bells? Does anybody know how this can be fixed (apart from "just don't leave it on the vt for longer than 10 mins" or similar ;d - these have occurred to me already). Of course, if you need any more information about my hardware, I will provide it.
I am running a constantly updated arch.

    From the news page here...

See if it's related to this...
It also seems to be related to later OSX versions, like 10.8.x & 10.9.x
The 2012 macs (and later apparently) (also later OSX versions on earlier Macs can do it also), not waking normally from sleep after hours being in sleep. (noted here ...

The sleepimage file still reappears even if never slept. Delete it (hibernate off, etc) - within minutes its back.
