Screen lines

hi I'm getting random screen lines when opening applications on my iMac , there not there all the time
Any ideas

If I look at my phone under light at certain angles, there appear to be vertical and horizontal lines. I know they are supposed to be there because they are very straight and evenly spaced.
And you just changed your point completely and what the iPhone is supposed to do. Before you said that it wasn't on yours, so it wasn't on his. Then you said that flaws were unimportant, when a flaw actually makes it not perfect. And now you think the iPhone just has to make calls and connect to wifi. The phone is actually supposed to do a lot more. Here is a link with what the iPhone does: http://www.apple.com/iphone/features/ If it doesn't perform one of these properly, then they received a faulty phone. This is a lot more than just making calls or connecting to wifi. Also, there could be a problem with how the phone was made, causing the lines at certain angles. An example would be the glue on the phones. This was because the phone was sent out early, causing it not to be fully dry. You may say that it then went away, but wet glue on a phone being used would cause the glass to move and could hurt it in the future

  • 2nd Gen iPod with Vertical Screen Lines

I've got a 2g iPod (10 gig) that has vertical lines in the screen that no longer work. This a monochrome lcd so I figured that it was a faulty connection between the board and the glass. So I opened my iPod to investigate. there's a plastic ribbon connector sheet with embeded metal connectors that go from the main board to the screen. It looks like pressure from the click wheel's outer ring has stressed the 'wires' in the plastic sheet.
The ribbon connector is folded into a Z shape going from the bottom of the screen to the PCB. If I push up (as in from the bottom toward the firewire port) on the fold in the connection ant the bottom of the screen, all my screen lines, one by one, quickly jump into action and begin functioning normally. However I haven't found a way to make this permanent. I don't expect there's any way to replace the plastic connector. I think the more I move it the more stressed and broken the wires will become.
Has anyone ever fixed an iPod with this problem. Any experience with fixing or working around this type of ribbon connector problem?
I'll be working on it tonight but I want to see if anyone has any suggestions.

Well I decided it's definitely a manufacturing error. Every time the menu button is pressed it pushes down the connector a fraction of a milimeter. The button has a small shroud like protrusion. While I can press the wire in and regain my missing lines temporarily, it's clear that doing so further damages the wires. Apparently there's no way to hold the wire in place with pressure because the menu button is in the way (nothing can fit between them).
Anyway I can only see 2 lines of the bite of the apple when my iPod starts up. I fully expect that this will only get worse. Any help, history or suggestions are welcome.

  • MacBook pro crashes, white screen & lines on the screen

Hello, dear forum users, i need your help very much!
I am sorry for a long text, but i am trying to be detailed as much as possible.
I have bought MacBook pro 15' late 2011 model. I am very happy using it. Everything was working perfectly. A month ago i have updated my mac with SDD drive(Samsung ssd 256gb) & corsair 16GB rams. Up to now it was working perfectly, i haven't had any problems. But yesterday after  i closed my mac(put it to the sleep mode) and after 10-15 minutes i opened it and there was just a black screen. No response to any of keys, mouse. After hard reset(holding power button. And turning it back on) i have received infinite white screen(i mean lightly gray). The one which follows after you turn on a mac. Waited a lot of time - nothing. Again hard reset.... again nothing. After some time i launched it successful. 5 minutes working - got completely blue screen. I thought it is because of software. When i restart mac, every second time, it  works (not getting into infinite light gray screen). I made a backup on external hdd. When I am successfully logged it, it works like perfect. But then(sometimes immediately after logging in, sometimes after 15-20 minutes of work, sometimes after 2 minutes.... randomly) screen just freezes - no response to any key or mouse. And after 5-10 sec mac automatically restarts.
When i run mac in restore mode(cmd+r) it works good... I formatted sdd and installed completely fresh maverics software. Didn't helped. After 30minutes work screen again freezed and mac restarted after 5-10 sec. After restarting i have got "problem report for os x", and here is what it writes:
Your computer was restarted because of a problem.

There was also very weird behaviour of my mac, i have captures the video. I have uploaded it to the youtube, here is the link, please see it:
http://youtu.be/ossDHVRl7DE     -on the video you can see slitted screen and white lines all along the screen.
The thing is that i am now studying abroad, in Denmark, and any computer repair there is extremely expensive. And I dont have warranty anymore. Could you please help me and say how serious it is and what it might be? :/

I thought these strips are caused by PCIe ,  second video card, but then I launched virtual machine (just to make computer switch to the second video adapter to see it something will change).  Now virtual machine is working in the background, Mac is working on the second video adapter -  nothing bad happens.(just as before)...  But then suddenly,  out of nowhere it ether gets freezed or strips appears on the screen(as on photo above)
    Video how it freezes
    http://youtu.be/uTrWuvphNQs
I was just continue "working" with that and then happen this:( please see video attached)
http://youtu.be/QM7oCRlzt9M it lasted for ~20 second and I was pressing some random keys on the keyboard...  And then it got back to normal..  :///

  • Screen Lines On Mac G5 Display

    Hi,
I'm wanting to buy an Mac G5 on ebay. Everything appears to be alright with it but there appears to be lines on the screen.
This does not bother me personally, but will this be any danger to the computer? and if i did want to get it fixed, does anyone know what the problem is?
    Heres the listing on ebay

If you read earlier posts this forum you may see that in some circumstances lines on a imac screen can be a prelude to either the screen or logic board failing. Take care. That's what just happened to my imac.

  • Start up issue - Fuzzy grey screen & lines on blue screen

    Hi
I have an issue where my Mac has recently had problems with starting up. I get the grey 'Apple' screen with lots of fuzzy lines. Sometimes it will progress to a login screen & sometimes will go to a plain blue screen with lines on it. It will always take 4-5 bootups before I can actually login to any user. Occassionally, once logged in, it will hang & need rebooting. Restarts seem to boot up okay without the fuzzy 'Apple' screen.
Is there a known virus/software/OS or harware issue that can cause this kind of problem?
Am waiting on anti-virus software so have no yet run a virus scan.
    Regards

    Hi ukbuzz
I'm not an iMac owner, but I note that there has been some discussion on the iMac boards about similar problems to yours. I suggest you repost your question to that board.
I hope your problem gets solved without too much hassle

  • 270x screen lines

Today I purchased 2 brand new MSI 270x video cards.
I installed the latest AMD Catalyst Control Center software.
Unfortunately, the cards periodically mess up and when certain applications, like Firefox, are open, the screen goes nuts with horizontal lines. that flicker on and off.
I have an Asus 270x in another machine and this issue was fixed with a bios update on that machine.
I cannot find a bios update for these MSI 270x cards anywhere though.
The serial numbers for each are 602-V303-07SB1312027***
Is there a bios update for these cards?
Here is a copy of the bios from one of the cards using GPU-Z
    speedy.sh/jmMKE/Pitcairn-card1.rom
    Youtube video of the problems:
    youtube.com/watch?v=hn1BnqHrTkc&feature=youtu.be
    youtube.com/watch?v=DsSpAjp42lc&feature=youtu.be

I will post what you asked for, but could you please tell me, is there an updated bios for my card? or do i have the latest?
I am surprised that MSI does not simply have a download page for the user to see on their own.
As started in my second post, I have tried both video cards alone. The same problem is produced when tested alone.

  • Satellite Pro P100: Screen lines on Display

Hello Folks wonder if you can help me.....actually wonder if I'm in the right forum.... I think it's a monitor problem not a software issue...
As of late I have vertical lines appearing on my screen... very thin, and in pretty colors....light blue, mint green, and purple.
I get about every 2 weeks or so a new one... Any Idea if thats a software or hardware problem... some computer kid told me that it has to do with the labtop-screen conection? if someone just can tell me to download a driver and it's all gonne be ok. would make me a very happy man......
Also, I've read in this forum that the new bios 4.30 has unresolved fan issues. Should I wait with downloading?
    Thanks
    Patric

To exclude that your problem is hardware related, try to reinstall display drivers.
I don't know if the new BIOS version for your notebook has some unresolved fan issues, but if you're not sure, wether to install the the update or not, just leave it.
But as I read your post so far, I think the computer kid is right, and there might be someting wrong with the connection to the display. Or it could be another display error or graphic card issue.
If updating the display drivers doesn't bring any improvements, I suggest you should contact local ASP, as this seems to be hardware problem.

  • Screen lines on my iMac

Recently, two very fine lines going from top to bottom of the screen have appeared on my iMac
I'm assuming it's a hardware problem of some kind...recommendations for resolving? It's a 3 year old Intel iMac. Hopefully it's not unrepairable...

It matters, because people are here from all over the world, and most repair shops only repair from within the same country.   Since you are in the U.S. http://www.apple.com/buy offers places which can in warranty repair the machine and these may be able to offer cheaper solutions when out of warranty: http://www.dttservice.com/

  • Effect for making horizontal TV screen lines

I want to put part of a video in speeded up reverse and also add the lines so it looks like an old video tape fast reversing.
Is there a preset effect for this in AE CS5?
Kind of like what's in the image below:

Look for "bad TV" or "rewind" presets on ze web. There are a couple of them available, either from tutorials or direct downloads. There are even plug-ins (GenArts Sapphire, Digieffects, Boris Continuum) in many effects packages. Of course you can always build your own from effects like Venetian Blinds, Fractal Noise, various channel and distortion effects. All depends on your experience and what specific look you're after.

  • Picture Included. Mid 2012 13 inch Macbook Pro green/purple lines on screen. Freezes. Sometimes 3 beeps.

Alright I have a Mid 2012 13 inch Macbook Pro purchased in June 2012. For about the last month, I have this issue where as I am using it random colored lines will show up on the screen (lines usually green, purple, but occasionally the issue occurs while booting and lines are black on white background). As soon as the lines appear, everything freezes. Sometimes the computer automatically reboots. Other times, it will just turn off and start beeping 3 times in a row. AT first, I thought this may be a video card error because it happened a lot when I was watching videos. However, it also happens randomly when I am just using safari/chrome with no other programs runnings. The most annoying part of this issue is that it is completely random. Computer won't act up for maybe 2 days straight during all activities (videos, surfing the web, etc). Then I will have a day where the problem is consistent.
Also, although I think this is just a correlation, all problems started after upgrading to Yosemite.
    Picture below:
Does anyone else with a Macbook Pro (especially 2012) have this issue? These two discussions seem to be describing this very situation:
Screen froze, purple lines, three beeps. Help!
Macbook Pro screen glitches, 3 beeps, NOT THE RAM

thanks alex. I'm going to the genius bar later this week for them to get a look at the issue.
in the meantime, do you have any idea why the problem occurs when I apply a little pressure to the bottom of the computer (under the command screen). here is a video of the situation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88C34bHZAd8&feature=youtu.be
also, i found this thread describing my exact situation: Field of vertical lines all over Macbook Pro screen? (+ freezes, beeps)
do you have any idea of a solution from reading that?
