Screen Lock Login Dialog Box Can not type in

Hi,
I set up the computer such that the sleep locks the screen - need to type password to log back in. Right now, when I try to log back in, the dialog box does not let me type in the Name or Password boxes, can not click on ok or cancel... its as if the dialog box is all grayed out. I can not regain access. Its the first time it has happened. How can I get my dialog box to accept input? I'd prefer not to perform a simulated power failure...

if you have fast user switching turned on then wake from sleep dialog has a "switch users" button which will take you to the login window. you can try that if it's there. but if it's not there then there is nothing else you can do but do a hard reboot.

If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup).
If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.

I didn't search before, but "you are not alone" (the thread [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/747424 In Verizon's Sitebuilder for webpages, I can not edit text boxes when using Firefox. I can only guess about the reason... Firefox works with many websites' "rich text" editors, but ones that haven't been updated for five years may assume that Firefox is the old Netscape browser and use scripting techniques that don't work in Firefox.
If Verizon has a different "basic" or HTML editor that you can tolerate using, you could try that. It might not be subject to the same incompatibilities.
If I someday get a Verizon account, I will surely be looking into this further, but for now, it's hard to suggest anything else.

You are planning to do a number of things, so let me first make a suggestion about the overall approach. Instead of: "Before I make a clone of my hard drive I would like to fix this problem so I only have one account with everything in it but I do not know what to move ... or how to safely move it", I would make that clone immediately. And leave it alone until you have completed the reconfiguring and rearrangements you plan to do. This way, if you accidentally do something that needs to be undone, your clone is there with all the originals. By the way, this is the approach I always adopt, whenever I have to do anything drastic with an existing installation.
After all the rearranging etc. of the main drive you just make a new clone that erases the previous one.
The "Deano" account doesn't show up when I go to System Preferences:Accounts. So I assume I must have done something wrong.

You can keep them where ever it is most convenient. As you know, you can create folders within folders, and there is nothing special about the Documents folder. Feel free to ignore it, if that's the way you want to work. You can direct your downloads, the default "save to" locations etc. to the appropriate places, as you work.
Can I create a new place for all my work files and just move them? I know I will have to update linked files within the various software packages but this is not a problem.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears. 
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions. 
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

Save As dialog box does not gain focus (bring to foreground) with Windows 7?

I've got several users with Microsoft Windows 7 (64bit) and Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard (OEM) with the same problem. When you go to Print to your PDF Printer, the Save As... dialog box does not come to the foreground and gain focus. Most often it just sits in the taskbar blinking to get their attention.
However the users get frustrated and often don't realize the Save As box popped up at all. They did not have this problem with Windows XP.
I actually can replicate the problem on my own PC.
Any workarounds for this behaviour?

This appears to be a Windows 7 focus issue.
You can back up your registry and try the fix below, it worked for me.
Fix number 1
1. Open Start >> Run and type “regedit” (without quotes)
2. Navigate to the following path:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop]
3. Right Click on the empty space and create a new DWORD value, or modify the existing value named ‘ForegroundLockTimeout’, set or modify the value to 0. (this value will cause the application to take the focus instantly.)
4. That’s it Done, exit registry and restart windows for changes to come into effect.

When you say chage the dimentions, do you mean crop the image and adjust the size of the image at the same time, or do you mean you want to just resize the image? Can you post a screen shot of what you're trying to do?

The suggested solution is only for the symptom. There is a bug in iOS.
My situation is much worse. My 80 year old Mother in-law bought a 4G iPad to keep in contact with her son overseas. Her retirement village has no WiFi so it it not possible to backup her iPad. The "This iPad has never been backed up" modal dialog locks up the machine. She is currently in hospital (doing well thankfully) but could have died and not been able to see her son because of this. It has caused her no end of grief over the last month.
I've worked around the problem by using my WiFi but this is a fatal flaw that needs to be urgently addressed.

"I figured it out, i had "mouse keys" on.
To fix go to Preferences>Universal>Mouse> MouseKeys and click off"
sure enough I had the 'mousekeys' on and turning it off - keyboard now working

Prevent Login Dialog Box Popup In EssVConnect

Using VBA code to automate worksheets. Our site updates and switches servers about every 2 hours. Code works great when 'server' is up but when switched and we don't know which one is active, the EssVConnect pops up the Login Dialog box requiring us to switch server names and press OK. This means it is not automated. We want to prevent the box from appearing and get a bad return code instead so we can cycle through all the servers until we find one that is active. Documentation implies it will do this. We have tried setting all messages off (EssVSetGlobalOption(5, 4)) but that does not seem to work for the dialog box. Any suggestions?

I am trying to remember if there are any issues and I think there is.. If I remember correctly, the EsbInit will not do what you want if called from within Excel VBA when the Essbase add-in is loaded because the C API used within the Excel add-in has already initialized the API with the wrong setting. You could try it..
Further, the result of EsbAutoLogin is to get an context handle (hCtx). The problem is, then, that you can't use that context handle to do Excel add-in operations. The opposite situation, where you can get the hCtx from a worksheet connected to Essbase is not only possible but is the recommended way to combine the VB API with the Excel add-in. Look at the GetHctxFromSheet function to see how to use that capability.
The only solution I can think to do what you want to do is to create an ActiveX EXE in VB 6 and have that ActiveX EXE call the EsbInit, etc and validate the server you need to login at a specific time. As it runs in a separate process and loads the Essbase API dlls at your command (EsbInit), you can control everything there. You can then use the CreateObject command in VBA to instance the object and call methods on it; your method will check the login for a specific server can could return the appropriate error message for you so you could validate which server is currently available and then call that server in your EssVConnect call.

You have SCADS of extensions and the things running. McAfee, Intego, Orbicule, CleanMyMac, and others I've not ever even heard of. My first recommendation would be to remove all of these and see if things improve.

EMAIL-CAN NOT TYPE IN THE BODY OF THE EMAIL

I can not type on the body of my email through comcast SmartZone. I am using Internet Explorer 9 and from my comcast home page when I access my email and try and compose an email or reply there is no where to type the body of the email. When I go to the Comcast help page where it has Comcast Customer Central it looks distorted like you are looking at with double vision. When I am trying to compose an email it has everything except the body to type on, it is all gray in that area and then at the bottom of the page it has the reply etc just like at the top of the page. Also when I am on my smartzone at home versus at work it looks different. Like on my email at home the first button is refresh and here at work it is new?? I have contacted Comcast and they were able to login to my email and had not problems. So I do think it is a setting but I do not know where to even start. Please help,

It could be a compatability issue between IE9 and the Comcast
email website. Try it in compatibility view in the IE9 browser.
You might also want to use or create another email account
using another service like gmail as a test to see what happens.
