Screen Lock Switched to Voice Activate

Somehow my screen lock has switched to voice activation and the keyboard doesn't activate. Voice activtation doesn't seem to accept anything. I have powered down and powered up and the same thing returns.

You may need to perform a software repair using PC companion.The process will erase all internal memory.You might need to charge your device for about 1-2 hours before so the device has at least 60% battery.

Screen Lock button set to Mute

My screen lock switch is functioning only to mute the IPAD, I can't figure how to have it function as a screen lock button

WiFi issue: Is it possible to change WiFi settings in a way that it does not switch off in the screen-lock mode?

I have iPhone 4 and 4s. WiFi is automatically switching off on both phones when they are inactive (screens are locked). It is connecting back after some seconds I unlocke the phone. But because I have no subscribtion for the Cellular data usage, I am being cuted from Internet all screen-locked period. All that time people are not able to reach me by email, skype, or other programs using Internet. It is quite uncomfortable, especially when waiting for something important! Is there a way to change this setting?

The iPhone does not shut down WiFi completely when asleep. It does use a power conservation mode. You should still receive notifications. There is no setting for this. It should work for you as it does for me if you don't have a network problem.
There are lots of problems reported with D-Link routers and they don't have a great reputation. If there is no help available from D-Link you may want to consider installing the DD-WRT firmware. It's available for the D-Link 615. See here for information: http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/index
By the way, you do have Notifications enabled for the Apps you are talking about right? See Settings -> Notifications and Mail, etc.

Nokia E6 issues -- Screen lock and Connectivity

I have two problems with Nokia E6. Struggling to get resolution
1. My screens get locked automatically with 7-8 sec even though I set up the screen locking time in more than 1 minute. It goes in lock state even you have active application running like reading web page or email. I went to local Nokia priority center and restored to factory setting. Still no luck. I bought the piece in July and I am facing this issue from last 2 months
2. From last 2 days, my internet connection is not working. Service provider has mentioned everything is fine with network. I rebooted the phone and tried to resave the internet connection setting, but no luck.
Please help to resolve these issues

which network operator do you use, in which country? Finally, because these MMS are send by someone,
which phone is used by the sender?

Nokia 701 call screen lock feature?

Hi nokia community,
was wondering if there is call screen lock feature in nokia belle? Because i couldn't find it any where in my nokia 701, even there is no option to edit the normal lock screen or button?
Why there are bugs and such small and important features are missing in nokia's belle OS?
Please help me feel like i'm using a smartphone.

Hmm..I am not sure..call nokia care in your country.
I am not having anything to complain about regarding how my 701 behaves with incoming calls or things about "lock screen"..sorry.
PS Try out "Nokia sleeping screen" for nice "lock screen" features when phone is asleep..Nokia store..

XFCE - switch to US keyboard layout on screen lock

I have a dual keyboard layout, and when xscreensaver triggers, I have no indication which language am I in. This is not a problem with gnome screen saver, but with xscreensaver that comes with xfce4 there is no indicator, which is annoying. Also, no indication that caps-lock is on, but at least this could be detected by the LED.
I modified /usr/bin/xflock4, adding following line to beginning of the file:
/usr/bin/setxkbmap -layout "us,ru" -option "grp:lalt_lshift_toggle,terminate:ctrl_alt_bksp"
it works, but only when I lock the screen using "lock screen" button on xfce panel. When screen locks up due to timeout, keyboard layout stays as-is. It looks like there is a different command being used by power manager to turn off screen. Anyone knows how to hook into this?

More detail: Some keys on the keyboard do work, ie: caps lock toggles the led, and the function keys across the top seem to work {that is I can adjust brightness, and so forth}
the letter and numbers, and perhap others do not work.

701 side lock broken - Nokia Taiwan refuses guaran...

Three days ago the side lock key on my eight-month-old 701 broke in the course of normal use - I didn't drop it or anything like that - I was just trying to lock the screen in the normal way. There is plainly a mechanical fault as the slide doesn't spring back when you move it.
I took it into Nokia Care here in Taipei and, to my surprise, they told me a) that it can only be fixed by replacing the phone's motherboard and b) that I would have to call Nokia to see whether they were willing to cover it under the guarantee. (It seems that the few remaining Nokia care centres in Taiwan are contracted out and given little or no discretion.) Interestingly they showed me another 701 motherboard with the slide broken in the same way.
Yesterday, Nokia Taiwan called back saying that the limited guarantee specifically excludes damage to the exterior of the phone and that if I wanted it repaired I would have to pay for it.
I have now checked the terms of the guarantee (available in Chinese on Nokia Taiwan's web site) and this simply isn't true. There are exclusions for improper use or modification, acts of god, normal wear and tear, replacement of consumables (fuses are specifically mentioned) and damage to or breakage of aerials, but nothing about damage to switches or anything else of on the exterior of the phone.
Regardless of the details of the guarantee exclusions, I am appalled at Nokia Taiwan's attitude, and would be very grateful if other users could tell me if they have had similar problems with side locks, or with repairs that should be covered under guarantee.

Always a warranty issue with items exposed to "wear and tear" be it micro USB connector, headphone socket and presumably "lock switch" unfortunately.

E7 Screen Locking / Screen Freezing

My E7 is screen is freezing up after a phone call or just after general use. It keeps happening every day. I must force a power rebooot to get the phone working again. I have called Nokia and have exhusted every option which included reloading Bella.
PROBLEM IS STILL HAPPENING, CAN SOME ONE PLEASE HELP ME?
Last resort is Nokia want's me to send my phone to Texas for a tech to investagate the problem. I think there is some kind of software problem with the locking of the phone screen and the locking switch logic on the side of the phone. When the problem happens the sceen will not work to my touch. The sceen freezes without touching it.
I really like this phone when its working.

When you reinstalled Belle did you/Nokia suite backup the phone & then, after reinstalling Belle, reinstall the backup as sometimes doing that can affect the phone due to there being apps on the on it which aren't compatable but are installed again with the backup, if this is the case & you didn't return to factory conditions & then run the Belle install you may want to try that but when reinstalling the backup just reinstall everything but applications & settings, you will then need to setup the phone from scratch & reinstall any apps from Nokia store.
If you send the phone anywhere they'd probably just reformat the phone & reinstall Belle anyway.

N8 screen lock

I have just updated my N8 Email/Calendar function, using Nokia Suite. My phone is on Belle, but not Belle Refresh as my UK operator (O2) has not authorised the update. All appeared to go smoothly. However, the screen lock function seems to have changed. Previously, sliding the switch locked the screen and completely blanked it. Now, sliding the switch locks the screen but does not blank it - it remains on my homepage (not a screensaver). I have looked for obvious settings that would change this but can't find any. Any ideas? I would like to go back to the blank screen when locked if possible, to save battery power.

N8 screen lock/off when ringing

Nokia N8 screen is locked & off when phone is ringing. I have to unlock the screen with switch on the side in order to see who is calling.

I had the exact same problem. My phone came back from the repair center and had this issue. There are other threads on the same topic but no one seems to have a solution.

SOmetimes I get a blank screen on my nokia N8 whil...

SOmetimes I get a blank screen on my nokia N8 while receiving calls. Because of that I can't see the answer button and can't pick up the call. I have to lock and then unlock the phone via hardware switch and it will show the screen. It usually happens around 30-40 % of the time.
Do you think its a software issue (some application problem) or something wrong with the phone... Please advise

When you put the phone up to your ear, the proximity sensor should turn the display off to save battery. With my phone it comes back on the moment I move it away from my face.
Do you have the camera in a case? I wonder if the case is maybe obscuring the proximity senser which is next to the front camera?

Windows 8.1 Lock Screen drops network connectivity when screen locked using Win+L

I was sent here from Microsoft Community forum. The question is:
Since Windows NT 4.0 I'm using Lock Screen to prevent people from accessing my computer when I'm leaving my room. First I was using CTRL+ALT+DEL / Lock Screen, then switched to Win+L keyboard shortcut when it was first introduced.
Everything was fine until I switched to Windows 8.1 computer (Sony Vaio Duo 13 with Broadcom wireless network controller). This machine is 8.1, not 8.0 upgraded to 8.1.
My problem is that when I hit Win+L combo the Lock Screen (with clock etc.) is displayed. Then, despite I have configured not to turn off display, the screen goes blank (after 30 seconds since lock) and network connectivity is cut off from desktop
apps (I suspect the system goes into Active Standby mode, because Modern UI apps like Tune-In radio keep working fine).
100% repeatable scenarios:
## Scenario 1 ##
1) Log in
2) Open desktop app that uses network connectivity. Outlook 2013 from Office365 subscription
3) Check that it has connected
4) Lock screen (Win+L)
5) Wait for 30 seconds (first incorrectly posted as few minutes) as screen goes black
6) Unlock screen (using password)
7) In right corner of Outlook app you will see "Unable to connect with Exchange server" and few seconds later it will reconnect sucessfuly
## Scenario 2 - the more annoying ##
1) Log in to Win 8.1 computer
2) Connect to it using SMB (in my case I wanted to transfer 30 GB of files from local hard drive C: to server) \\COMPUTER-NAME\c$ from Windows Server 2012 R2
3) Start copying files from computer to server
4) Lock the screen on computer
5) As soon as screen goes black server displays message "Lost connection to the resource. Try again?"
6) Unlock screen on the computer
7) Click "Try again" and it will continue copying files
My power settings are set to go into stand by after 5 hours and if I not lock the screen it doesn't go to sleep before 5 hours.
When I lock the screen using Win+L it goes into (probably Active) Standby mode.
Is there any way to prevent it from going to Active Standby when locking screen? I need the screen lock for security reasons but I don't want it to drop my network connectivity on remote desktops, file transfers and other desktop activities before 5 hour
timeout.
This issue is not related to more or less known wireless network connectivity problem that happens to many Intel Haswell computers. Mine doesn't exhibit those problems. I can easly push 100 - 200 GB of wireless data without network drops.

Same issue here using Surface 3 Pro with either internal WLAN or MS USB LAN Adapter. I'm frequently used to keep open connections over SSH to some servers. On switching to lock screen explicitly by pressing Win+L or implicitly due to idle timeout all
connections to servers are lost. In addition, I don't get any notifications on incoming Skype messages (using Skype for desktop) when lock screen is active.
Neither NIC is showing "Power Management Tab" according to step 5 of instructions above.
Additionally observing USB LAN NIC seems to be kept active after activating lock screen, but traffic stops (according to its flashing light) when lock screen is switching off display. Blanking display doesn't seem to be adjustable in System Settings (Energy
Options accessed through Win+X).
Find attached log file of powercfg -energy -duration 300 ...
Log file is in German. It basically claims unset timeouts for deactivating display while running attached to power supply though lock screen is turning off displays within 1-2 minutes.

4.2 - No longer able to play TV Shows and Movies with the screen locked

I know this sounds like a weird thing to want, but some Movies and TV Shows are perfectly suitable for listening to without the picture (e.g. musicals, comedies, chat shows).
Prior to 4.2, even though locking the screen stops a Movie or TV Show from playing, you could resume it by double-clicking the home button and then pressing play. This would leave the screen locked, but play just the soundtrack of the Movie or TV Show you had been watching.
Now, with the 4.2 update, this is broken - and not just in a "feature removed" kind of way. If I try and resume a Move or TV Show as I did before, I get the play button, and clicking on it appears to start for a fraction of a second, before the screen abruptly switches back to the locked screen background.
This is extremely disappointing, but I just wanted to check here first to see if it's just my phone doing this, or whether it really is a bug.

Ipad Update loses horizontal / Vertical lock switch. Now it's a mute switch

OK, this is a big one.
The little switch on the side of the iPad, that normally allows users to lock orientation, now functions as a mute switch.
This is a terrible flaw, and should be corrected.

Add me to the list of people who are dismayed and confused by this change. I listen to music perhaps 2% of the time on my iPad. Maybe 85% of my time on it is spent reading text, usually while sitting or lying down. I change positions frequently. I use the lock switch *all the time*, and use it with the hand holding the iPad, to boot. Now I can no longer do this; I have to go through a complex iteration on screen, requiring much more of a break in my attention flow (I have to actually stop reading the book I'm reading, go to another interface, perform a multi-step task, come back).
My question is this - why on earth wouldn't you at least give us the option of setting the behavior back the way we're familiar with in software somewhere, even if you defaulted to the new behavior to make sure we're aware of the possibilities? Please. Please please please. Give me my hardware screenlock back. It's making reading in bed really annoying.
