Screen messages during boot camp boot

I had installed windows vista ultimate on my mac book pro using the boot camp method. I am running the latest version of Mac OS X 10.5.
when I set the machine to boot into vista, I start to see of this messages on the screen which last about 5 minutes before I see the windows login screen.
I took a short video using my cell phone so you guys can have an idea of what is happening. The text is not very clear, so please bear with me.

  • Re-installed fresh Snow Leopard, Boot camp boots, but wont show on startup..

Ok, I had Boot Camp on my iMac with Snow Leopard fine. I decided to reinstall Snow Leopard fresh.
Chose the Mac HDD partition, it re-installed fine. I then thought I'd have to do the Boot Camp again, but I held don "alt" key and Boot Camp boots fine and works.
So I normally have the Boot Camp to boot 1st, as wife and kids use Windows. However I go into Boot Camp on Mac OS, and it doesn't show the boot camp startup disk. Where's it gone?
As I say everything is fine, apart from it now looks like its lost track of the Boot Camp partition.
Is there anyway I can get it back? I ran Boot Camp wizard on Mac, but it either wants to create a new Boot Camp partition, or run windows installer, both which I dont want.
    Any help please
    chers

Set the default startup disk in Windows.
There is no Boot Camp on Mac OS ("go into Boot Camp"?)
    Try:
    System Preferences / Startup Disk
On Windows, the Boot Camp Control Panel to used set the default OS
Wizard: by this assume Boot Camp Assistant, which is only a partitioning tool.
Boot Camp doesn't "boot," Windows boots.
Boot Camp - Assistant to create a partition
Boot Camp - Set of drivers and services
Boot Camp - Control panel in Windows to set default boot OS (Mac OS X volumes or Windows, with some other features for laptops I believe)
Personally, too many things use the same name and lead to misunderstandings.

  • Brand new Macbook Pro Boot Camp boots to blinking cursor

I have a brand new Macbook pro running Mountain Lion and Boot Camp 5.0. I have made the disk needed for drivers and support and stuff. Installation looks like it was successful. It gets up through making an account and setting up windows update stuff (never gets to the desktop). After that it says preparing desktop followed by logging out followed by shutting down. It then restarts over and over again to a black screen with a blinking cursor. Anyone have any ideas? I have seen stuff about booting to the win7 disk and selecting repair and then command line to repair the boot efi stuff but since it never has a successful boot it never has a build to repair to. I am frustrated after 7 different installs of windows and a lot of time wasted.

I should add that I went as far as downloading a trial of parallels and imported by boot camp partition. It booted fine but when I tried to install the drivers and support files I got a message that said this version of boot camp is not meant for this hardware. I was thinking if it was hanging on something I could boot into it using parallels and fix it. No dice.

  • [HELP] Windows 7 Boot Camp Boot Problem?

    Hi,
I have a problem when booting windows 7 after installing it using bootcamp.
    Here is what i did:
    1) Used Boot Camp assistant to "Install Windows 7 or later version" (Last tick box option) - This also partitioned my drive.
    2) While Windows 7 was installing it rebooted several times, I held the option key to select the Windows 7 instlltion disk for every reboot.
    3) Once Windows 7 had finished installing I installed Boot Camp 5 for Windows 7.
However everytime I restart my Macbook Pro it boots into OSX Mavericks fine, When I go to startup disk there is no option to select the Windows 7 Boot Camp partition.
When I hold the option key while turining on my Macbook Pro I get the option to select the Windows 7 Partition, but when i select it I get a grey folder with a question mark. However when I turn on my Macbook Pro (with the Windows 7 installation disk inserted) holding the option key, when i select the Windows 7 disk it boot the Windows 7 partition fine?
I have installed reFind and tried that but I get an error: http://puu.sh/80FZt.jpg
What can I do to fix this? I want to be able to boot into Windows 7 without having the Windows 7 installation disk in the SuperDrive, and i also want to have the startup disk preferences to display the Windows 7 partition.
    Thanks in Advance
    Harvinder

Ok, I have done what you have both said (bobthefisherman & turbostar):
    1) Deleted Windows 7 partition with BCA
    2) Selected all 3 options in BCA, which created a USB install and it also partitioned my HDD
    3) I waited for it to reboot and then it came up with a grey fold with a question mark in it
I never intervened with it in any way.
How do i fix this now? Any further suggestions?
    Thanks

  • Boot camp boot partition

Is it possible to have xp sp2 on the first partition (boot partition and OSX on the rest?

    thanks for your fast post.
I do not have an external drive (well a 4gb usb stick)
could i still do it without cloneing ?
just make a fat partition and extended partition as a extended journal?
then install xp and then OSX?

  • I have a message on my iMac 24 says Boot Camp does not support 64-bit on this computer. how do i fix is?

I have a late 2009 iMac 24 that i downloaded Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit on. When i tried to download Windows 7 Support, i got a message that says Boot Camp does support 64-bit on this computer. I do have Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit CD. What would be the easy way to fix this. Thanks

There is no OS X 5.0.5. If you can boot to OS X on your computer select About This Mac from the Apple menu. It will display the version you have installed.
I think the message meant you can only install 64-bit Windows 7.

  • Boot Camp on MBP internal drive (disk1), attempts to boot off CD bay drive (disk0).

Hi. I have an early 2011 MBP running the latest version of Mavericks with two internal SSDs. The HD bay has a 1TB (disk1) and the CD bay has a 512MB (disk0). Boot Camp is installed on the 1TB. When I boot up the system and hold down the Option key, I see Windows as a boot option. If I select it, however, it starts to boot and then goes immediately to a black screen with a white underline cursor blinking in the upper left. It remains like this until I reboot.
After spending a lot of time looking into the cause of this problem, I've come to the conclusion that the system is confused by the drive in the CD bay and is attempting to boot from it before it attempts to boot off the drive in the HD bay. I installed Boot Camp originally by using Boot Camp Assistant to partition the drive and then using WinClone to copy over a previous Boot Camp partition. I'm pretty rusre that as a result, one of the following two things is happening:
Whatever setting Boot Camp Assistant made to tell the Windows install DVD to boot first is still in effect and Boot Camp is attempting to boot from the CD bay.
The Boot Camp partition is set from the previous drive it was on to boot from disk0, which is now being assigned to the drive in the CD bay.
To test these theories, I've unplugged the drive in the CD bay and rebooted, at which point Boot Camp boots perfectly off the drive in the HD bay.
The drive in the CD bay is set to a single HFS+ partition. I've looked at the GPT and MBR on both drives and they seem fine (the Boot Camp partition is bootable). Does anyone have any idea what I'm missing here?
    Thanks in advance.
    Craig

Still having issues, any suggestions would probably be helpful.

  • How to back up a Windows partition created in Boot Camp in Lion.

Hello. I have Lion installed and I already had Windows 7 installed aswell. I used boot camp. Boot Camp booted Win. 7 just fine. Then, yesterday, I tried to boot into Win. 7 and all that apeared was a Black screen with a dash in the upper left hand corner blinking. I let it sit like that for 30 minutes. I eventually lost patients and held the power button for 5 sec and booted back into Lion. I have many files in Windows 7 that I need. I have no backup of Win 7 but I do have a backup through Time Machine of when it was working. My main Question is this, when I'm in Lion, how can I back up my Windows files and make a bootable image out of it so I can reinstall it through bootcamp. I need to keep my files and there is no chance of me restoring from a past Time Machine backup as I need all of my files on Lion aswell. Oh, BTW, im using a 2011 Mac Book Pro with all the latest updates. Any help is apreciated. Thanks!

    Hi,
I used a digital copy of Windows 8.1 to install it through Boocamp. It was the MSDN version of Win 8.1.

  • Problems with Windows XP SP3 in Boot Camp

    Hi,
I have recently received a 21.5" iMac; it is the higher-end of the 21.5" standard configurations. The problems I am having, I believe, specifically relate to drivers.
Firstly, I get no sound whatsoever in Windows XP SP3 (boot camp); I have tried removing and reinstalling the drivers from the Snow Leopard install disc, but no success. I have no yellow question marks in the device manager window, but the absence of audio still persists.
Secondly, I cannot gain access to the special functions of the Apple wireless keyboard in Windows XP SP3 via Boot Camp. Again, I have tried reinstalling the drivers, but no success. I have read an Apple support document which states that the keys are only supported on late 2009 Macs; I own one of these Macs, so that cannot be the problem.

  • How should I proceed with installing Windows on my Macbook Pro through Boot Camp?

    Hello,
I have never installed Windows on a Mac. I found the official guidebook from Apple online, but I want to make sure I am buying the right type of Windows before I get it. So should I get 32 Bit or 64 Bit Windows 7? What other major things should I keep in mind as I'm getting ready to install Windows? I have made a Time Machine backup for my computer on an external hard drive. I want to make sure that I am not leaving out anything major in terms of how I should prepare for the process. I have Mac OS X 10.9.2, if the version is significant. Let me know what other info you need about my computer if you need any.
    Thank you.

  • How do I use Boot Camp?

I realize that Boot Camp is already installed on the machine. I'm using a MacBook Pro one model year old. I try to use Boot Camp Assistant to download the "Windows support software" but it tells me it is not available. In the manual, it says to update Boot Camp to the latest version, but nothing shows up in the Software Update, and on apple.com/support/bootcamp there are no updates for the Mac. I do not have Windows on the machine yet, so none of the available downloads on the site are of use to me. I need Windows for my game development, as this is the strongest computer I have access at the moment and I can only use it on the weekends. I need an easy to understand answer as soon as possible.

If you are running OSX 10.6 Snow Leopard and have the Installation DVD of it at hand then you don't need the Windows Support Software since the BootCamp Drivers are on that DVD.
If you are running OSX 10.7 Lion then you have to rely on the download of the WSS.

  • I CANNOT USE BOOT CAMP ASSISTANT 4.1 ON MAC BOOK PRO 15 INCH

i installed windows xp using boot camp Boot Camp Assistant 4.0.1 version, which was on system along with macbook pro 15", quad core processor,
windows were also installed with the partitions, but after windows were installed, drivers were missing and wen i went back through options to open boot camp on mac os it boot camp was nt working,  i deleted the partion where i installed windows xp, and then too boot camp options to make partion is nt showing, kindly guide to repair BOOT CAMP ASSISTANT, and also how can i upgrage my Os frm lion 10.7.3 to mountain loin.

Reinstall OSX using the online recovery.
Then use Boot Camp Assistant. One of the Boot Camp Assistant menu items is download the Windows Support Software (drivers). Make sure you follow the Boot Camp instructions.
Or, Reinstall OSX using the online recovery.
Then install a virtual machine like Parallels, Fusion, or VirtualBox. Then install Windows in the virtual machine.
You can use either Boot Camp or a virtual machine to install Windows. Neither method requires any driver cds.

  • No Audio in Boot Camp Mode on Win XP

    Hi there,
I have 2.66Ghz Macbook Pro w/ 4GB RAM, running Win XP SP3 on a partition.
The audio through the laptop's speakers works fine when I boot up in Mac mode. The Win XP partition can be booted up in VMWare and the audio still works fine.
However, when I boot up in Win XP in Boot Camp, the audio through speakers no longer works. This mysteriously happened a month ago (was working fine until then) and despite many reinstallations with the Boot Camp CD and other Apple Updates, the audio never returned.
    Help!

  • Apple Store did Data Transfer to new Mach.  Do I need to do Boot Camp all over again to run my Paralles/Windows?

    HI.
In May, I used Boot Camp to partition my MacBookPro and then installed Parallels and Windows.  Worked great!
Two weeks later my MBP died.
In order to save my students projects which I'd saved that week on my book (yup, without backing up daily) they did a data transfer for me to my new MBP and I left the store without crying over lost work!
Now however, when I click on my Paralles Icon it won't work.  I get this:
I'm not sure what to do or how to get this working again!

no you did not do it throught boot camp
boot camp is when you start up your computer and hold down option and choose for it to not start osx at all but start windows insted
what you were doing was running virutal machine using parallel which just happened to rather then load it image from a file read it from the boot camp parition
unless you ever held down the option key and started windows windows without osx
then you have always run it as a virtuel machine just from a location which was skipped by your backup system
so you kinda cheated yourself first of all then it's more trouble to install windows under bootcamp then in a virtual machine
and when in bootcamp then as you've seen is not a part of a backup
