Screen not refreshing after sleep mode

Hello All,
I have had a problem since 10.7.XX where my screen does not refresh after the computer goes into screen saver mode and then into sleep mode. When I move my mouse to resume i get a line drawn where I move my mouse and it reveals the login screen slowly. I can click on a login account and a small section of the screen refreshes where the login password is. Once I login it goes away. Was hoping Mountail Lion would address, but the problem continues from Snow Leopard. I am on a Imac 24" 2009 3.06Ghz dual core with 4 Gig of Ram, Nvidia GeForce 8800 GS 512mb. Thanks in advance for any advice.
Chad

Hello,
See if it's related to this...
It also seems to be related to later OSX versions, like 10.8.x & 10.9.x
The 2012 macs (and later apparently) (also later OSX versions on earlier Macs can do it also), not waking normally from sleep after hours being in sleep. (noted here ...

"Why 2012 iMac/2012 Mac Mini won't Wake After Hours of Sleep (Hibernates/Powers Off)")
The sleepimage file still reappears even if never slept. Delete it (hibernate off, etc) - within minutes its back.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless (Vista x64) Will not print after Sleep Mode

    Hello,
As the title says the printer does not print after coming back from sleep mode. Before entering sleep mode the printer works fine and is responsive. After coming back from sleep mode the printer is still responsive (buttons on the touch screen can be pressed) but unfortunately does not accept any print jobs. Currently, I restart the printer to get it to print. It is connected wirelessly through WRT610N Linksys Router. Any suggestions or solutions would be greatly appreciated.

I have been having the same problem all during my warranty period. But no one ever told me it was a firmware problem until two days ago connected to the sleep mode for the wireless one. Supposedly, they have downloads for wire ones now online which I found for 909a and 909b, but not 909g which is wireless. Now I am out of warranty and they won't replace it. I have a long history with tech support since early 2010. Right now, they are sending me a power adapter to try, said to turn off sleep mode (which I dont' know how). Then I told them I found online a firmware download, Apr 2010 to update firmware. My current version is different that the one listed for the download. So, I'm going back to TS to have them fool with it. Has anything worked for you?

  • Safari will not work after sleep mode

After going into sleep mode safari will not work. Firefox works fine, mail is fine. Happened after upgrade  to O S x .  Browser is Safari 8.  How do I fix this?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

  • Touchsmart 520-1047c Mouse and Keyboard will not work after sleep mode

I have an issue which I need some help with. When my computer goes to sleep the wireless mouse and keyboard will not work unless I restart, however each one will wake the system up but will not operate after that. I have tried just making the display go to sleep, both go to sleep but that makes no difference same issue occurs. The only work around I have found is going into the power settings and turning the sleep mode off for booth the computer and display. This does not solve the problem it just masks it. New batteries, unplugged and replugged the dongle, updated the bios and all drivers. Don't know what else to try. Anybody know how to fix this? Thank you in advance for your help.

  • 2nd Monitor Not Detected After Sleep Mode

This setup was working perfectly fine on Windows 8 Pro before the upgrade. I upgraded to Windows 8.1 Pro and now when the laptop goes into sleep mode my secondary monitor will not turn on after I wake the system up.
The only way to get it to work again is to reboot or unplug and replug the monitor back in.

    Hi,
This issue can be caused by driver or your power plan.
Please update the display card driver from Manufacturer website.
If the issue still persists, please change Graphic settings as Maximum performance in power options to check the results.
If we still fail to get this fixed, please find the event log of hardware and upload here for further research.
    Keep post.

  • TS3048 wireless keyboard not responding after sleep mode

My Apple Wireless keyboard (old style with numeric keypad) does not respond properly when my computer exits sleep mode.  Keys either don't work or a single key hit produces multiple letters / numbers on the login box. The only way to get the keyboard to work properly is to turn it off, wait until the computer says it's lost the keyboard connectilon, then turn the keyboard back on again.
I tried a newer Apple Wireless Keyboard (current model) with this computer, and it works properly.
Anyone have an idea as to what's going on here?
    Thanks

If you have a early 2011 MBP, the optibay SATA is a 6GB bit is really support 3GB/s only.
If you have a 6GB SSD, install it in the ORIGINAL adapter and the original SSD in the optibay.
    This will **SOLVE** the issue.

  • Bluetooth magicMouse & keyboard not responding after sleep mode

    Hello,
I recently upgraded from Lion to Mavericks (10.9.1).
A very annoying bug happens every time the macbook pro exists from sleep mode.
In this situation, when the mac wakes up, Bluetooth devices (magic mouse & wireless keyboard) do not respond. Since I am using the mac in clamshell mode with external monitor, this is very annoying because I have to open the laptop, and turn on/off Bluetooth manually.
Sometimes the same problem arises for the internet wifi connection, which do not reconnect.
I am very surprised of this bug.
Does anyone have the same issue?
I was thinking to do a clean installation, as suggested in some posts, but I don’t believe this will solve the issue.
This issue HAS NEVER APPENED in Lion.
    Thanks for support.

  • Ethernet Not Connected After Sleep Mode

When my computer goes to sleep and I wake it up again the ethernet port shows up as not connected in System Preferences / Network. I have tried unplugging it and replugging ir back in, disabeling other network adapters like wifi, resetting pram and can't think of any others to try.
The issue has been going on for almost 2 years. On my MacBook Pro I have had this issue for a while. Both in 10.7 and 10.8 versions of the OS.
The only thing that works is to reboot the computer and we are good again.
Any ideas on what to try next or what tis going on?

  • How can I set my mac (and the screen) to not go on sleep mode ?

I just want my mac (and the screen) stay alive for a minimum of 8 to 10 hours, not going in sleep mode (or save screen).  Just displaying a web page without doing anything else. In preference system, energy save is all set to «never», but after a while the screen goes to sleep ... ?

You probably have a corrupt .plist file. To fix:
    1. Hold down the option key.
    2. In the Go menu in the Finder, scroll down to Library
    3. In Library, find Preferences
    4. In Preferences, find com.apple.systempreferences.plist  and drag it to the trash
    5. restart
    6. you will have to reenter your preferences.
Another option is caffeine: Lighthead - Caffeine

After I upgraded to lion I have been having constant issue with my wi-fi after sleep mode. I close the lid and when I reopen I open safari and cannot connect to the internet. Wi-fi is on and I am connected to my router, but it doesnt seem to be on the internet. Now how I resolve this issue is turn of the wi-fi and turning it back on, then i am back on the net. this is mos-def a bug i have never had that problem with snow leopard. Please assist or provide hot-fix

I have the same issue and have to cycle the wireless modem on the laptop. Doesn't matter if I'm on a preferred netowrk or no, or if I stay on the same network or move. I come out of sleep, I have to cycle the modem.
It's not life threatening, or anything, but it's a hassle. I didn't have the issue with Snow Leopard.
