Screen not wakeing after goint to sleep

Here is an odd problem, I suspect it is the connection to my ibook. When the ibook goes to sleep the screen will not come up, pushing keys or clicking the mouse button does nothing. But as I start to close the ibook when the screen gets just past vertical in the closing direction the screen comes on. If I reboot the screen sometimes comes back on. Any one have this problem before? is there a connection i can check?
Thanks In advance.

  • W701 Screen not on after resume from Sleep

I have the latest Jun bios installed on W701.
    Win7 x64
When I put the computer to sleep, and them open the lid up it will not turn on the screen, even though it is doing everything in the back, i.e. I can login using my fingerprint, etc.
the only way to get it to turn on is to connect the power supply to it. Or if the power supply is connected and I put it to sleep, unplug it , i.e. power cycling gets the screen back. It is getting to be annoying...

    @Chyiz,
Uninstall Hotkey, reboot, reinstall Hotkey again. 3.52 is the latest available.
If it does not help, try uninstalling Power Manager, Power Management Driver, Hotkey, reboot, reinstall Power Manager 3.62, Power Management Driver and Hotkey.

  • Lenovo A1 - Touch screen not working after digitizer replacement

After dropping my tablet and breaking the digitzer, I ordered a replacement digitzer from a company in China. (It took about a month to get it) After watching this video, I was able to install my new digitizer and it finally looked new again....well at least the screen!
But.....when I powered up my tablet, the touch screen wasn't working..... I emailed back and forth with the company and they told me to install drive program, and send me a link to a site with a video, this site may have contained more than the video, but it was all in Chinese and I couldn't figure it out even with Google Translate. So I started researching. I thought I would try and load ICS on it, I thought, "Whats the worst thing that could happen?" it wasn't much more than a brick at this point anyways.
I found this website that let me through installing ICS on it. I had absolutly no expectations...but IT WORKED!!!! MY TOUCH SCREEN IS NOW WORKING!!!! I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT!!!
When I was researching for this problem, there was absolutly no posts anywhere for "Touch screen not working after new digitizer". So I wanted to share my experience.

Yea you are correct.....it must be a hardware problem. You must contact service centre of Lenovo and get help from there.

  • Screen not refreshing after sleep mode

    Hello All,
I have had a problem since 10.7.XX where my screen does not refresh after the computer goes into screen saver mode and then into sleep mode. When I move my mouse to resume i get a line drawn where I move my mouse and it reveals the login screen slowly. I can click on a login account and a small section of the screen refreshes where the login password is. Once I login it goes away. Was hoping Mountail Lion would address, but the problem continues from Snow Leopard. I am on a Imac 24" 2009 3.06Ghz dual core with 4 Gig of Ram, Nvidia GeForce 8800 GS 512mb. Thanks in advance for any advice.
    Chad

    Hello,
See if it's related to this...
It also seems to be related to later OSX versions, like 10.8.x & 10.9.x
The 2012 macs (and later apparently) (also later OSX versions on earlier Macs can do it also), not waking normally from sleep after hours being in sleep. (noted here ...

"Why 2012 iMac/2012 Mac Mini won't Wake After Hours of Sleep (Hibernates/Powers Off)")
The sleepimage file still reappears even if never slept. Delete it (hibernate off, etc) - within minutes its back.

  • Thunderbolt ethernet not waking after sleep

I have the same problem with my MBP retina with Maverickks 10.9.1 losing connectivity after waking after sleep while on battery.
People from apple support don't help in solving the problem.
Does any one have the right solution? I would appreciate.
    Apple please fix this problem!!!

    Thanks for the link, Judy.
As far as I know, I am up-to-date as far as OS updates are concerned. At least this is what the mac is telling me when I go to updates. The article you've linked here looks to be more specifically for OSX Lion and Snow Leopard, but not Yosemite.
I would think that the likely fix here is to upgrade the firmware for thunderbolt, but I don't know how to check what macbook pro thunderbolt firmware or what thunderbolt display firmware is present. What I see in System Information doesn't match the firmware updates associated with your link.
Here's what I have in System Information/Hardware/Thunderbolt Device Tree:

Do you know from this info if they need updating? It's not really made clear what to look for from the article. The article refers to Thunderbolt firmware v1.0, the Thunderbolt display firmware update is v1.1.
Any ideas? Is there somewhere else I should look for this info?

  • What to do about not waking after Sonnet Tango USB FW PCI in G4 AGP Graph?

I have bought a used PowerMac G4 AGP Graphics 400 MHz, running OS X 10.3.9, 512 Megs of RAM, 20 GB internal ATA HD, Internal CDRW, Internal ZIP 100, Adaptec SCSI SE card (25 pole).
That system was just fine - amazing power for an 8 year old computer!!!
Then I installed a Sonnet Tango USB 2.0 FW 400 PCI card that I removed from my PowerMac 7600 - Sonnet G3 running OS 9.1 where it worked flawlessly.
I wanted to get USB 2.0 in the G4. The card works great - burning a DVD with a LG Burner attached via USB was amazing - DVD done in 5 min!
However one Problem: I cannot let the system go to sleep any more. Once it is to sleep I cannot wake it any more. I have to force reboot. When I choose sleep from the menu, the first time the computer wakes immediately after going to sleep, when I try once more, I get a message that I have to force reboot the machine by pressing the power key for 5 seconds.
Does anybody have a solution (to this apparently relatively common problem).
I have included a passage from my system log.

    Hi KBReid,
Your issue looks really familiar. I have a G5 iMac (all stock except 2G RAM upgrade) that has been running 10.5.6 for, well, as long as it's been out. The machine is set to automatically shutdown at 10PM and boot up at 8AM. It's on a UPS. 4 nights ago it shut down, and in the morning it was stuck at a light blue screen with the pinwheel in the top left corner after it tried to boot up. I've unplugged it, reset PRAM, went into OF and typed reset-all. Here's the kicker: I can boot from the 10.4 disc that came with the iMac and see the drive, verify/repair (nothing was wrong). It won't repair permissions because it looks for some "package." The iMac won't boot from the 10.5 disc (full retail). Or perhaps I should say that it won't completely boot, because it does the same thing that the hard drive does: it goes through the apple screen, then two shades of grey and two shades of blue really slowly, then it stops with the pointer at the top left (leaving a copy of it lurking in the top left corner if I move it.) Eventually the pointer becomes the spinning wheel, and then it's all over.
I don't think that it did any update (I have it set to ask first, and the boot partition chooser in 10.4 disc still show 10.5.6 as the HD OS) so I'm totally baffled why it is acting the way it does.
Any suggestions? Did you resolve your issue?
    Thanks!

  • Lion not waking up from Deep Sleep with File Fault 2

MBA13, 2011 - Lion 7.1: My MBA doesn't resume after deep sleep (hibernate) in combination with full disk encryption.
Waking the machine up, the logo on the back lights up but there's nothing to see on the screen. After turning off filefault, it's all ok. Do more people share this experience?
    Regards

This problem has spontaneously resolved itself. Despite what I wrote in my last message, I did not turn off FileVault
Now when I run out of power (triggering deep sleep) and then plug in my computer, instead of the system hanging, I get the usual power-on FileVault unlock screen. After a few seconds (but not a full boot sequence), I then get my regular unlock screen (as if I had just woken up the screensaver).
I haven't applied any software updates (including the recent MBA EFI update), so unfortunately I can't say why this started working for me. I did recently change some settings: I set the system to only require a password 1 minute after going to sleep (instead of immediately); and I gave a second user permission to unlock the computer from power up.

  • IPod Touch Screen not Working after using Assistive Touch

    Hey everyone!
Yesterday my iPod Touch 4th gen touch screen froze (not the screen itself - it still wakes from sleep & responds to notifications and charging etc.), after myself accidentally taping 'Voice Control' on Assistive Touch.
I was wondering, since it's out of warranty (it's a couple of years old), I can't send it back. I'm currently backing up & restoring it.
Can anyone tell me if it's the software or hardware? It's going to take at least a good day or so to backup & restore, due to storage is full, and it's 32GB capacity, so it'd be good to know in advance.
And if anyone has got any other suggestions to fix it, please let me know! It'll be much appreciated.
    Thanks heaps!
PS. Please don't tell me to repair it...it'll cost just as much to fix my whole iPod, buttons & screen than it is to buy a brand new one!!

There is really no what to know if hardware or software problem without trying to restoring the iPod. First from backup and then to factory settings/new iPod. If still problem then it is a hardware problem.

    Hello theow,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand the touch screen on your notebook is not detected after updating to Windows 8.1.
This would be the best place to start: Troubleshooting Touch Screen Issues in Windows 8. This is a great document that covers touchscreen issues from start to finish. Do not be alarmed that it states the document pertains to TouchSmart PC's, as the steps are the same.
It would also help to know which product you are using so I can give you more detailed information, such as driver downloads.

  • Browser not connecting after returning from sleep, but email and imessage working fine

My Browsers are not able to access the Internet after returning from sleep. This effects other browsers (Firefox & Chrome) as well. The connectivity from mail and iMessage is working fine. I am also hardwired and not using WiFi.

I have the same problem since updating to Yosemite, works fine after restarting but once it goes in to sleep it affects email as well as browsers, I have a broadband connection. Also accessing the app store is hit and miss, it's either working or simply not not working.
It also affects other devices trying to connect to the internet over wifi via the airport time capsule, the problems started after installing Yosemite.

  • Screen is not working after resuming from sleep mode

    Hello,
i got a problem with my ideapad u330 touch, after i got out of the sleep mode my screen will not come on, so I need to switch it off and back on again then it works fine.
I recently upgraded to win 8.1, i don't know if it has something to do with this, but before it works fine.
    Thank you very much

    hi McGuinness,
Are you able to recreate the issue if you boot in Safe Mode?
    Things that you can try:
    1. Press the Windows logo key‌ +R and type devmgmt.msc. On the Device Manager, navigate to the Display Adapter (right click > choose Properties) and on the Driver Tab, check if the Rollback Driver is clickable to restore the previous display driver.
    2. Navigate to the Control Panel > Programs and uninstall the Intel display driver and reboot. Navigate to the D:\Drivers folder and locate the Intel Display driver installer (D:\Drivers\VGA\Intel) or download and run the file below to re-install the display driver.
Intel Video Driver for 64-bit Windows
          Version 9.18.10.3165
After installing. Try to put the computer to sleep and observe (if the power button is blinking, this indicates that the unit is in sleep mode).

  • Network Drives not waking with computer from sleep after ML install(Wired connection)

Since installing mountain lion my network drives do not wake with the computer. The drive folders for them are not on the desktop. I have to go through my shared directory and click on the drives again for them to appear back on the main screen.
    Any ideas?

I tried the "usual" reset of PRAM and SMC and now it seemes to work correctly!

  • Mail crashing and not waking after sleep

I recently updated an older iMac 20" to OS 10.5.8. It has 1.25gb of ram and was running 10.3.9. Since updating, Mail crashes as soon as I launch it and the computer fails to wake from sleep. What can I do to prevent this from happening. I can check my mail on Safari but would rather not. Should I reinstall the OS as suggested by an Apple Store employee. It seems to me I might get the same problem all over again. Not sure what to do.

    Keith:
I think you should backup any data you have, completely reformat and erase your HDD (post for step by step directions if desired), then reinstall Leopard from disk. That should bet rid of any carryover issues.

  • My imac has a gray screen when waking it up from sleep mode. about 9 months ago, I installed OS X Maverick.

This is the second time this has happened, since installing OS X (9 mos. ago). (I can't recall the fix from the last incident.) Upon waking the pc up from sleep mode, I get a gray screen. Nothing works except using the Command and P & R keys to get to "reinstalling OS X", to no avail. What do I need to do to get it back to normal?
My imac is a 21.5", mid 2011 item.

Those keys do not reinstall OS X. To do that:
Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks without erasing drive
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
    Reinstall Mountain Lion or Mavericks
OS X Mavericks- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
COMMAND-OPTION-P-R keys resets the PRAM. OS X keyboard shortcuts.
