    I try and download QuickTime stand alone, but it only is a package with Itunes,
    it is available as a standalone. there are two different versions of the installer on the download page. take a closer look at the area of the page immediately below the "Download the Free Player" heading (to the left of the page):

    Was not my intention to make you feel better or worse, It was  an academic question.
    I simply do not understand why the compulsion to update into every bright and shiny update against the logic of doing so  when mid project.
    Mac users have been trained  to faddishly update IMHO.
    Did you queue up in the street  all night to do the Adobe update?

    The device is locked to the carrier it was purchased through unless you specifically purchased it as unlocked directly from Apple.
    Only the carrier to whom it is locked can authorize it's unlocking.  To do so, the user much contact them to start the unlock process.

    Next try the remaining items of
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
    How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    Opened the laptop today and the left side of the screen is as normal, there is a thick black line in the centre and the right side of the screen is white. No dots, no coloured lines, no damage has occurred. I am unable to shut down and restart laptop due to this. Bought the laptop from Argos at the end of April.     Is it possibal to get a virus on the iPhone or touch from a opened email or transfured from a mac with that has not gotten a new leopard update in 'bout a mounth or so. I also have a problem with email that started few days before the screen stopped working saying that it cannot connect to Ian's Mac Mail because the username or password is incorrect when I go to verizon.com to check the name and password they work my father never has time to update his iphone so I have to do it for him and a lot of my content that is not on his laptop gets transfured and he has been having the same problem now for some time and my mac has showen that message box when I check my mail on my mac which is rarly. Or could it be that I am running out of RAM or just plain memery last I check today I had a little more then 1GB of space left. I also wonder that if it is repaired that the whole touch screen needs to be replaced and might be coastly and why would only half of it work most of the time I think that ether the connection between the touch sencers and the motherboard is unstable or that a softwere error has accored and needs to be ether restored from the settings in the phone or restored as new and not from a backup??

    Hi, The touch screen for my Sony Vaio Pro 13 Touch suddenly stopped working two days ago and I have no idea how to fix it. I didn't install anything new before it stopped working, and I tried to install all the new drivers on the VAIO update but it still didn't work. I thought it might be because of Windows so I updated to Windows 8.1 today and it still does not work. On the PC info it even says" Pen abd touch: No pen or touch input is available for this display". but this laptop is supposed to have touch capability and it has been working up until now. Please help! My model number is SVP13215CDB. Do I need to install or update my driver?

    Was there any changes prior to touch screen not working?  Like installing software or hardware?  If not, then try using windows system restore to restore back to a date that you know when it was working.  If that still does not resolve issue.  Then we may have to put the unit back to factory condition to eliminate software related before servicing the unit for hardware.

  • IPhone 5s screen not working, no physical explanation

    A girl smashed my iPhone 5s a few months ago, luckily it had a case on it. However, my screen popped off completely, it did not crack or break. All ribbon cables for the display are in tact and while investigating at times it would light up and but 99% of the time it wouldn't. Now after it happened the phone was still powered on, I could hear it ringing, I even activated Voice over somehow. Now the problem I am running into is there is a broken cable. I thought it was the home button cable however after I removed the cover I see a nice looking copper ribbon cable running from it to a small computer chip right beside it. THIS is where things are broken. There is a little piece of a ribbon cable leading from the bottom of this chip that is snapped off and I have a cable that is about an inch and a half long, very thin just like a ribbon cable, has a QR code printed on one side, underneath that QR code it looks like another little chip that connects to the chip next to the home button. The other end snaps has a little connector that snaps into a little piece right underneath the battery and above the charger. That cable is completely ruined I believe since it cannot connect to the chip that is next to the home button where the ribbon cable runs to from the home button.
    *EDIT* I figured out that this is the actual home button flex cable. So now my concern is could this cable prevent my screen from working. And a recent revelation since this phone has been sitting for months as is; I plugged in a charger and it has been on the charger for over a half hour and I cannot start the phone. I used to get a vibrate or some sort of activity, now I'm getting nothing. Like I said before all cables are in tact and regardless if the 3 screen cables were broken that shouldn't stop the phone from turning on should it? This is everything I have done. I have taken the phone apart 4 times since then. I did a hard reset and actually upgraded it from 7.1.2 to 7.1.4 I believe. I have inspected cable after cable after cable, I have checked to make sure the screen seats back down in it's housing perfectly so that literally the phone looks like it's in mint condition, I have investigated literally everything I know in order to figure this out and now I plug it in the computer and I get no sign of it being detected, I'm getting no vibration, I'm getting nothing. It may be a cable or it may not be, I just took it apart just now to make sure I had all my facts straight for this post since I hadn't worked on it for such a long time. 
    I need to know, would the broken home button cable from the chip alongside the home button prevent the screen from working? I need to fix this phone, I have fixed hundreds of iPhones since the first generation and this is the 1st iPhone 5s and unfortunately it is mine because some unstable girl got upset and decided to spike it like a football and got away with it without any punishment whatsoever, no fine no jail time, no restitution, nothing. So I am very upset. If I can fix this thing myself with a few parts and you know or are at least 75% sure you know what parts I need to get it up and running for 10-20 dollars I would love your input. If I have to take it to a repair person I am going to have to sell it because I cannot afford to pay $200 for a $5 part and 20 minutes of a guy's time. Please help me out here! I can provide photos sometime if needed but I really prefer not to take this thing apart again unless it is replacing parts and getting it working. Thank you.

    I've used iTunes for a year and downloaded the new software 7.01--it will not run, says I need to install new version of Quick time. I removed all versions of iTunes off my computer and reinstalled iTunes with same result--Need to install new version of Quick Time. I did this and Quick time said--Can't install because a more current version of Quick time is already installed. Catch 22? Is this a do loop of apple frustration or what?     Repair Disk
    Insert Installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
    Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger) and launch Disk Utility.
    Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
    Select First Aid in the Main panel.
    (Check S.M.A.R.TStatus of HDD at the bottom of right panel, and report if it saysanything but Verified)
    Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
    If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
    If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
    If DU reports errors it cannot repair you will need touse autility like TechTool Pro,Drive Geniusor DiskWarrior
    First we need to determine if the issue you are experiencing with the computer is software or hardware based. Once we have gotten things sorted out there should be time enough to make you decision about keeping or returning it.

I have followed the instructions to reset the printer, but now am unable to select 'English' as my language because every time I select the 'English' option 'Spanish' is selected. I am then given two options to select 'Si' or 'No' both of which can not be selected on the touch screen?

    I see that you are having issues with the touch screen not working correctly. I will do my best to help you.
    Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (don't use a power hub or a surge protector) This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
    Was it the Nvram reset back to factory settings that you tried or a hard reset?
    Try selecting the option on the display a little higher above the icon to see if that helps. Some touch screens are finicky.
    I find that on the Lab printers when I am selecting different menus.

    After dropping my tablet and breaking the digitzer, I ordered a replacement digitzer from a company in China. (It took about a month to get it) After watching this video, I was able to install my new digitizer and it finally looked new again....well at least the screen!
    But.....when I powered up my tablet, the touch screen wasn't working..... I emailed back and forth with the company and they told me to install drive program, and send me a link to a site with a video, this site may have contained more than the video, but it was all in Chinese and I couldn't figure it out even with Google Translate. So I started researching. I thought I would try and load ICS on it, I thought, "Whats the worst thing that could happen?" it wasn't much more than a brick at this point anyways. 
    I found this website that let me through installing ICS on it. I had absolutly no expectations...but IT WORKED!!!! MY TOUCH SCREEN IS NOW WORKING!!!! I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT!!!
    When I was researching for this problem, there was absolutly no posts anywhere for "Touch screen not working after new digitizer". So I wanted to share my experience.

    Yea you are correct.....it must be a hardware problem. You must contact service centre of Lenovo and get help from there.

    It's highly unlikely that the Pages update problem has anything to do with the ARD client update, since the client is not involved in any way with Software Update. I'd suggest asking for assistance with the update problem in the forum appropriate for your version of Mac OS X.
