Screen orientation lock

I have not screen orientation lock but in this place I'v a volume mute. Whats going on?

I post this quite often for users that lose system sounds but it relates to the screen lock as well. Read this and the link I post at the end.
If you lose sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.
This support article from Apple explains how the side switch works.

  • New place for screen orientation lock

Apple has changed the screen orientation lock button to a mute button. To lock your screen orientation just double click so your in the multitasking menu slide left and on the far left is the screen orientation lock. If you ask me it is kind of a stupid place and I hop apple switches it back.

You can let Apple know via this form:

  • Screen orientation lock button now volume?

It seems that the switch to lock orientation of the screen no longer does that and instead turns the sound on and off. Do you know how I can switch it back to locking the screen?
    Thank you

Screen lock is mentioned on page 12 of the iOS 4.2 manual which can be downloaded from here http://support.apple.com/manuals/#ipad . There is also more info here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4085 (which takes into account iOS 4.3)
If you've installed 4.3 on your iPad then there is now an option in +*Settings > General > Use Side Switch to*+ which allows you to chose whether the switch on the side locks rotation or mutes notifications. There doesn't appear to be an iPad 4.3 manual yet, but the new features are listed on this page http://www.apple.com/ios/

  • How do you turn off larger dynamic type on the iphone4 when your screen orientation is locked (vertically)?

So I have the iphone 4 with the latests update ios7.
So I went on settings > general > accessibility > larger type.
And I clicked "on" for "larger dynamic type"
Now my font is so big I can't even see apps that I have and such
I want to turn it "off" but my screen orientation is locked! (I can't move my phone horizontally) I think if I can move my phone horizontally I'll be able to see the on/off button for larger dynamic type.
I tried sliding the bottom upwards to turn off screen lock orientation but it's not on my screen because my font is set to a really big size that the "screen orientation lock button" didn't make it to the screen

Turning on Dynamic type and increasing it shold not have that effect.
Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset.

  • Screen orientation settings

Home is really great, but has a flaw that I'm sure others noticed, too: there's no screen orientation lock, and we're suffering from reverse portrait orientation flu!
The reverse portrait orientation makes us lying-down-in-bed readers unable to browse our links comfortably, and most other apps haven't enabled it by default (a professional Apple-esque approach), while others, who still ignored the mode, also included a screen orientation lock (see MobileRSS for a great example).
    Please fix this ASAP!
    Thanks!
iOS 4.0, iPod Touch 2nd gen

The solution lies with the Sync team and the software, not the hardware. For instance, that software workaround only applies to iPhone 4, 3GS and iPod touch 3G users, leaving everyone else, myself included, out of the multitasking feature in iOS4.

  • Numbers Screen Orientation

Just imported a Numbers file from my Mac to Iphone 5S. Cannot view it in Landscape. Screen orientation lock is off in Control Panel and other apps, eg Safari, rotate with the phone. Am I missing something?

I also discovered this unwelcome feature. Whoever made this design decision obviously does not work with spreadsheets. If it's a problem for you, I suggest making a post via feedback to Apple (http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html) requesting that landscape orientation be added to Numbers.

if anyone, knows anything on how to fix it, lemme know!! ill be eternally grateful.

What is your other iPod device?  If not another iPod touch, then try here:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X
Since iOS devices (iPod touch, iPhone, and iPad) use different drivers than the other iPods.
Otherwise, time for an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Brightness Setting + Screen Orientation - Lumia 92...

I don't know how many times this has been asked but these small little features would be very awesome to have.
Option to turn off/dim the capacitive touch navigations (the really hurt my eyes in the dark)
Option to lock the screen orientation
I recently bought my phone 3 days of using it, my previous phone was an iphone 4 and it had these features. Although I really love my Lumia 920, I really wish it had these features

For these two features you can add your vote on the Feature suggestion site.

  • I have the older generation ipad and the screen orientation is locked. I don't seem to have a switch option under General. Can you help me?

Ipad orientation of screen is locked. I don't seem to have the command for switch on general systems settings.
    Any ideas?

If you see a lock icon in the upper right corner of the screen - then the screen orientation is locked.
Try the side switch above the volume rocker first and see if that unlocks the screen. If that doesn't do it, double tap the home button and swipe to the right and look for the lock icon all the way to the left.
If the screen is unlocked but still will not rotate, reset the iPad.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • Screen orientation is locked in landscape mode

Screen orientation is locked in landscape mode.

Swipe up with 4 fingers, slide to the right, and tap the orientation lock button on the left of the music controls. If this button is not present, and instead replaced with a button with a speaker icon, slide the switch above the volume controls on the right side of your iPad. If that does not work, put your iPad into DFU mode (hold down sleep/wake button for 3 seconds, in addition to the sleep/wake button, hold down the home button for 10 seconds, and then, let go of the sleep/wake button, and hold the home button for 20 seconds, or until you see the "Plug in to iTunes" screen), plug into your computer, and force restore. Then, it should be fixed. Good luck!

  • Locking the screen orientation

Is it possible to lock the screen orientation? Probably 95% of the time that I use my iPhone, I want it to be in Portrait mode; I hate how the screen keeps re-orienting every time I move my hand.

Maybe this falls under "feature request," then... it would be nice to have something built into the OS to lock the screen orientation, like holding your finger on the clock for five seconds to activate it.

  • Android orientation lock does not work within the ADPS App

    Hi,
and another Android App Bug for today. The Android orientation lock feature does not work in Apps created with ADPS. If orientation lock is enabled and I turn the tablet, the orientation off the ADPS Apps will turn with the tablet.
My Test Tablet is an Acer IconiaTab A510 with Android 4.0.3
    Kind regards
    Yves

When you say that the orientation lock doesn't work, we have no way of knowing if that means that the screen is locked in one position only, or that it will not lock in one position only. So try something g very basi and reboot your iPad.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
In the camera app, you have to swipe up and down on the screen to move between photo, video and the square photo mode options, so are you even in the correct mode to take videos?
