Screen orientation stuck in messages

I updated to the new operating system and my screen in messages is stuck in landscape orientation. Has anyone had this happen and how did you fix it?

I had the same problem. I reset the iphone by holding down the two buttons for 5 seconds until the Apple logo shows to reboot the phone and that fixed it, good luck

I have been dealing with this problem since upgrading to ios 6. I have an old ipod touch that is still running ios 5.? that backs up daily with no problem whatsoever. I have attemped every solution posted on these help boards (i.e. deleting accounts, turning off all apps from back-up, restarting device, changing routers, attempting back-ups through different wifi spots) sometimes one or a combination of these band-aid fixes will work for a day or two, then suddenly the ipad (version 3) will simply stop backing up, and I will spend hours of frustration going through all the tedious fixes. All the while my old ipod touch running ios 5 backs up daily with no problem whatsoever. I have called Apple support and they seemed surprised that this is a problem and offer no real solution whatsoever.
Until Apple gets their head out of the sand on this one, and actually fixes the obvious bug that exists is ios 6 this problem will continue and will not be resolved.

Im having a similar issue with my iPhone 6 Plus on iOS 8. My issue is with the home screen and text screen being stuck and or freezing in place. The home screen will flip upside down and stay that way and with my messages if I rotate the phone in landscape view it sometimes stays stuck or freezes in that view. I have to turn my phone off and on to get it back to normal.
I also contacted apple support and they advised me to do a fresh restore which I did with iOS 8 but it still happened shortly after. Apple said that if the problem persists to bring it to an apple store for repair or replacement. Im thinking its a software issue because when I researched it on the internet it appears people with iPhone 5's and 5s's are experiencing the same or similar issues and orientation freezes. I just recently upgraded to iOS 8.0.2 and will monitor it and see if the issue was fixed. So fingers crossed that iOS 8.0.2 fixes it.

Try resetting the iPod. It curs many problems and nothing is lost.

Go into settings and see if you have Mute System Sounds checked or Lock Screen Orientation checked for the button just above the colume control on the right hand side of your iPad. If you have Screen Orentation checked, just move the button and your screen should rotate again. If you have Mute System Sounds, go to your home screen and then double tap your home button. The most recently used apps will appear. WIth your finger swipe those apps to the right and on the far left will be an icon for screen orientation. Touch it to turn it on again, and your screen should again rotate.

Yes, this is exactly my problem. The lock button is definitely black, not white and I did go to messages or even facebook, the screen wouldn't rotate. This is particularly annoying when I try to answer a message and I can't get the rotation on the screen to make the keyboard a little easier to use. Next suggestion?

I added an attachment field(messageDownload item style) in a table. This table was created in a tab region.
when I tried to open a file , I get the open/save/cancel message, but the screen is stuck.

Quit the app completely. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.

Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

Unfortunately, this message is almost always an indication that the internal AirPort card on the Mac has failed and will need to be replaced. This is a job for repair shop.

initialy All I was trying to do was downgrade 10.7 to 10.6 .

You have to consider the possibility the hard drive may be dying. If your data isn't backed up, try one of the tools below:
